Ruth: Yesterday's picture looks like it was taken in January. Cold!
Karen: Oh my goodness. I hope you get your results soon. Dr. Google can be a scary place to get information. Thinking of you.

It is quiet here like Karen said. I've been quiet at home also. Coming down for the wedding and then getting covid has left me quiet. Thankfully it turning around. The ups and downs of life!

I hope you get the tests back quickly too, Karen. Don't put too much stock in Dr. Google as it generally gives you the worst case scenario. Hope you have some fun things planned this weekend to keep your mind off things.
Wonderland, in January the WWW pictures will almost always be indoors!!! It actually warmed up to a lovely 71 degrees today, so we can't complain. A friend, her dog, the neighbor dog and I had a playdate this morning. A dog walk this afternoon, Dance2fit after that & we went to a high school football game tonight. Our team won so are in the playoffs which start next week. Whoo Hoo!

A dog walk & Denise Austin DVD today.

Ruth: Your high school football team is always good!
Met a friend for a walk this morning. Mowed for 30 minutes late this evening. Will try to finish the yard tomorrow or Sunday. Tomorrow is a huge festival in my city. Like so many activities, it was cancelled for 2 years. Usually 150,000 people come and I expect that many tomorrow. Dh and I are parking cars in the morning and then we will walk around the festival so I may not be willing to mow tomorrow when we get home lol.
In the afternoon we went to a corn maze. I really wanted to go (dh was a team player and went with me). Tomorrow night the maze will be a haunted maze. That would be creepy!
I'm trying to look like the scare crow in Wizard of Oz when he gives Dorothy directions to Emerald City.

It is 29f (-2c) out, and I am getting ready to go row. Outside. On the water.
Crazy. But the on-water season is ending really really soon. I may have to put hot cocoa in my water bottle....
LOVE the painted pumpkins! So much talent in this group!
The rest of the weekend I am afraid will be spent cleaning house and sorting clothes -- I still haven't done my summer to winter switch out. Just not mentally ready!

OH! Big news -- I met my new oncologist. I had hoped she would say it was OK to take a few days break from the anastrazole. Instead, I get a 6 WEEK break!!!! WOOOHOOO! And I can binge on grapefruit! I hope it makes the aches and stiffness better.
0 -
yesiamadragon, enjoy the grapefruit!! Leaving in North Dakota, I know what you mean about squeezing in every moment of the 'summer' outdoor activities! I started switching out the closets awhile ago, and finished off dragging the heavy duty winter stuff just the other day.
Wonderland, I'm glad your festival is back on. I love your hat! (And have one very much like it.)
I'm off to Yoga Strength in a few minutes. Another nice day is in the forecast, so there will be at least one long hike with Bruno later on today.

Wonderland, your pumpkins are beautiful. I love the one with the little owl on the swing. You are so talented. Plus I wanted to say you looked so beautiful at your daughter's wedding. You are in great shape.
Karen, good for you for taking the shots. I am like Ruth and like to space them out a bit. I have had reactions to both the Covid and flu shots so I am going to take it one at a time. I also have a B-12 shot every month and the last two months I have bled from the shot. It is so weird. I don't take any blood thinners or aspirin. It does play in to my decision to get one shot at a time.
Yesiamadragon, I a happy you to hear you are outside to get every last day of rowing on the water you can get. I do the same with riding my bike. I love to do it and I try to keep it up as long as I can before my glove covered fingers freeze on the handle bars. It makes me feel alive and happy to be outside exercising. Plus it helps with the low motivation that comes with the loss of sunlight for me.
So I have been walking and riding my bike as much as I can. My hip hurts a lot so I am going back to PT again on Monday. I am trying to put off a surgery for as long as I can. The labrum is torn and it is probably just a matter of time. But the stronger I do the strengthening exercises, the more I can do and that puts me in a better spot for a surgery (if needed).
I hope everyone is able to get some nice weather this weekend.

It was an absolutely perfect morning on the water! Since Head of the Charles is this weekend we had the river to ourselves, the water was glassy, the foliage in the sun reflected on the water... We rowed 4.8 miles. I am going back tomorrow but no one else wants to join me
. Might be a shot row, but they take the dock out next week...0 -
YesIam: Wow! A 6 week break from anastrazole! That was a nice surprise for you. Your aches and pains need a break and are very thankful I'm sure. Today's rowing conditions sound perfect. Enjoy all you can until the dock is removed.
Coffeelatte: We had so much fun before and during the wedding. Yikes, sorry about your torn labrum. It sounds painful and glad you're going back to PT. Don't blame you for wanting to put off surgery as long as you can. Good thing the strengthening exercises help you.
Ruth: We have had a couple of mornings at the freezing mark. Then it warms up nicely throughout the day. I'll probably switch my clothes in a couple of weeks.
Dh and I parked cars at the festival for 5 hours. Then we walked around the festival. My knees were sore from standing and walking on pavement all day! Had to take Advil when I got home. 9 blocks and side streets are blocked off - it was packed like this picture all day. Easily over 100,000+ people attended throughout the day. That's a lot for my city of 19,000 people! Kinda creepy thinkng about how much Covid is out there.

I'm glad you just had Covid, Wonderland, so at least you should be safe from all those germs floating around town!
Sounds like a lovely day, yesiamadragon!
Coffee, smart to keep at the strengthening exercises; even if you do end up having surgery, it will mean a much faster recovery.

My knees are better today. Was able to mow for 90 minutes.

We did more fall yardwork, walked the dog & now I'm off to yoga.
0 -
A cold, windy, raw day here. I went to Zumba & did nothing outside!
0 -
Completely different day here, Ruth. Beautiful and high of 75.
Did a little yard work and went grocery shopping.
0 -
Today was better here. This morning went to Pound, raked more leaves ,& picked up branches. Tonight I went to Zumba & stayed for yoga to unlink my back from all the yardwork.
0 -
Yoga sounds good after all your yard work, Ruth.
Another glorious day here. Dh and I went to a park about 30 minutes from the house. It was a fun day at a fun park. Rode a carousel and a little train, went through the nature center which included lots of wildlife (even a bear), and ended up walking over 11,000 steps. There are paddle boats there but they weren't available today. Also was hoping to play miniature golf but it wasn't open either.

Cute picture, Wonderland!
Half the Wednesday Women walked indoors while the rest of us braved the great outdoors to walk over to check out a Haunted Graveyard. A local family goes all out with decorating. People who come by are asked to bring donations for the local Food Pantry; so it's fun & for a good cause both.

The haunted graveyard sounds scary but also nice with the food collection. Great picture!
Got a haircut this afternoon and then walked/ran. It's been 2 weeks since I walked on my regular trail. Good to be back.

Got my flu shot today. Took Tylenol prior to getting it which has always helped me.
Funny thing about the flu shot. When I worked at our hospital the employee health nurse came right to your desk, gave you your free shot and an individual packet of Tylenol, then signed you up for door prizes. Really nice door prizes like a day's vacation, gift certificates. The big prize was getting the hospital's Myrtle Beach oceanfront condo free for 3 nights (a person in the community had willed his condo to the hospital for employees to rent at a reduced price). Even with these door prizes only 50% of the employees would get the vaccine. Just incredulous to me. Could not believe that healthcare employees would not take a lifesaving vaccine. Well, I believe it now since Covid. But in the end, when a bigger hospital bought our hospital the flu vaccine became mandatory (unless for medical or religious exemptions) and no more door prizes.
Walked/ran today at my usual trail. So pretty with the angle of the sun acting like a spotlight on the trees against the Carolina blue sky.

Beautiful tree, Wonderland. My Dance2fit class had a '80s Dance Party tonight. Fun!

A nice day for a walk here.

Great pictureof Bruno!
Was going to walk today instead took a near 2 hour nap. Thinking maybe bc of the flu shot I had yesterday???
0 -
Those shots can throw you off for sure!
0 -
Ruth that is a great photo of Bruno in such a beautiful setting. He is sure a handsome pup. But the good looking boys tend to be trouble!!
Wonderland, so happy you were able to take a nice nap. It is such a luxury and your body must have needed the rest to recover. I plan to get my flu shot on Monday. Too many people are getting sick with the flu in our area. I went in to get it last week but I had to wait a week because I still had a welt in my arm from a B-12 shot I get once a month. I can't take shots in the left arm due to ongoing lymphedema.
I raked yesterday. It was a great day to rake because for once we had almost no wind. So my husband and I had to take advantage of the weather and do more raking than we had planned. It feels good to be sore from the exercise. My arms are so weak. Have a great weekend.
0 -
coffeelatte: I'll probably rake some later this week. It really is good exercise.
Walked/ran this afternoon. We grilled out tonight and now I'm enjoying a glass of wine while watching spooky movies.
0 -
Oh my, a glass of wine sounds wonderful; maybe I will have to join you!
We hauled out another bunch of leaves today and maybe have one more load to go (our neighbor's tree is finally losing its leaves and they are falling directly into our yard!). Another beautiful dog walking day (Coffeelatte, yes, the good looking boys ARE trouble!
) I also did a short ab DVD. I have a pile of paperwork stacked up on the table but am doing outside stuff now before the weather turns. Tomorrow is probably 'clean out the garage day'.0 -
Love the 80s dance party! And Bruno, always!
Yesterday morning we rowed at 28 degrees and in significant fog. Brrr! But when the sun started breaking through the mist is was beautiful! The last bit I rowed with my eyes closed (well, except to look around now and again to get my bearings) tying to soak it all up and store the feeling for the winter. After rowing I de-rigged my boat and brought oars and riggers home for the winter. Booo!
I'v been doing my weight training to, but my attempts to run on the treadmill have been.... frustrated by complete and total head-exploding boredom. It is funny because I also kind of hate the rowing ergs but I can row on it for an hour or more at a time watching videos and just keep at it. I need to figure out how to make myself go on the treadmill, because with my balance issues running outside in the dark is not an option. Sigh.
I head out to Colorado this week to help out my mom a bit. Will need to walk her and the dog, and will try to keep up my strength training and indoor rowing as well.
OH! One 0ther bit of exercise news -- I was finally feeling my balance has improved enough to get out my old slide board. I narrowed the end bumpers some, but still only made it 40 seconds! A single skating shift! LOL. Guess exercise really is specific. Will narrow the bumpers even more and keep trying, 40 seconds at a time

Looks to be a glorious and relatively warm day today. Have to get some outdoor chores done, get packed up and do some more housecleaning. Will try to work in a slog on the treadmill and some weights as well.
Hope everyone has a great week!

YesIAm: Your last row for the season sounds magical! Glad to hear your balance is improving. And on a slide board no less! I lol'd at your description of exercising on a treadmill. I prefer walking outside. When we had a treadmill (another person here called it a dreadmill) I counted the minutes until I was finished. Have a good time with your mom in CO.
Raked and hauled leaves to the front for 1 hour 45 minutes. It's supposed to rain tomorrow so wanted to rake while they were dry. There are still plenty left on the trees so lots more raking is in my future. After raking I walked the neighborhood for 25 minutes. Couldn't walk where I usually do bc I have a flat tire and couldn't drive there. Going to worry about the flat tomorrow. I haven't bought any candy yet for Halloween so I need to get it fixed. The weatherperson said it may stop in time for trick-or-treating. I held off from buying any bc of the rain and also bc I would have eaten most of it before Halloween night!
Ruth: I feel bad when leaves from our huge chestnut tree blow over into the neighbor's yard. I didn't do it today, but next time I'll rake them out of his yard.

Your last row of the season sounds lovely, yesiam. I too get really bored on a treadmill. Could you listen to a podcast or watch something on TV to pass the time? Enjoy your time in Colorado!
Wonderland, I just bought my Halloween candy yesterday & have already eaten more than I should. No willpower at all around here. Dog walked & went to yoga. Our teacher had a bonus half hour of guided relaxation, which was wonderful!

Went to a fun Zumba class this morning (our teacher was dressed like a Taco & did some 'spooky' dance routines (one to Thriller). Came home and did MORE yardwork. I'm hoping that we get some trick-or-treaters or I will be eating lots of candy myself!
