eli - I still have my 45 records from 1950/60, as well as these 45 adapters so I can play them on my regular record player. How about an original "Hound Dog"??

Eli, It would make an awesome album cover for a band as well as a t-shirt emblem. My siblings made off with all my 45 records (and adapters) when I moved abroad.

Minus, Some of your 45s might be worth something.

Maggie - yes, and the vintage record store is also dying to have some of my original Beatles albums. And Rolling Stones & Beach Boys. I should probably turn them in and not leave them for my son to deal with. But I may wake up in the middle of one night and want to listen to them again.
Same problem I have with books. WAY too many that I've saved should I want to re-read.

BTW - I love the saying "It's not hoarding if it's books".

Minus, The reason we keep the records and books is so we can enjoy them. We are collectors, not hoarders, lol.

Just saw the old picture of the Fisher Price Little People and house. I'm way too old for it to have been my generation (boomer), but I had one for my daughters and it was a lot of fun for all of us.

Minus - I too have all sorts of old Beatles and Rolling Stones records and simply cannot part with them, but I can't imagine anyone wanting them when I'm gone. They're very ragged and worn, but they are "part of me".

The solid meant it was easier to take with you. I remember wearing English Leather men’s cologne since they didn’t have women’s fragrances with that musky smell.

  • Interesting. I loved my compact back then…I wish they would bring it back.

moongazer, The Vermont Country Store sells their own solid perfumes in tins. I saw it when I stopped to buy some old fashioned candies on the way home from the hospital up north. They have an online catalog. I don’t know how close the scents are to the original Coty.

  • Thanx-I have seen that before-I'll check again.

Maggie - you are so lucky to have a Vermont Country Store you can visit in person. I have been buying things from them for years, but only through the catalog.

Minus, I agree. When you go in person you can find things on sale, too. The original store is more charming but it’s a half hour further west.

I love Vermont Country Store. I once found a dress for a wedding there very cheap as it was on clearance.

  • Country stores are fun…never bought for anything from there.

I like country stores in old buildings since they transport you back in time.

It has been forever ago since I saw one of these pressure-sensitive rubber mat door openers outside a supermarket. They just quietly all disappeared when we weren't looking.

Those mats have been replaced by optical beams and motion sensors but the newer methods have their drawbacks. When I was exiting the local hospital the other day I stopped to pick up something I had dropped. The door then refused to open. The security guard told me I had to go back and approach the door without such a long interruption. One of those mats would have just opened the door.

Plus it stopped the doors from just opening as you walked by if you weren't going into that particular store
