Hello,

I am Catholic., and I have been walking with Jesus my whole life...and He has saved me from "me" many times...LOL....

One thing I do, is pray.. a lot. I think we all do as Christians. I headed this thread Catholic only because of what I am posting. All are welcome to pray this anytime.. but I did not want to offend others who are not Catholic, or who might not understand.

A Novena is a 9 day consecutive prayer. ST. Peregrine is the patron saint of all CANCER.

I post this for all who might want the prayer to St. Peregrine. A POWERFUL intercessor.

God Bless you girlies... I sure love ya!

Laura

Novena To
St. Peregrine

Prayer to Saint Peregrine

O great St. Peregrine, you have been called "The Mighty," "The Wonder-Worker," because of the numerous miracles which you have obtained from God for those who have had recourse to you.

For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fibre of our being, and who had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more. You were favoured with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction. Ask of God and Our Lady, the cure of the sick whom we entrust to you.
(Pause here and silently recall the names of the sick for whom you are praying)
Aided in this way by your powerful intercession, we shall sing to God, now and for all eternity, a song of gratitude for His great goodness and mercy.
Amen.

St. Peregrine was born in 1260 at Forlì, Italyto an affluent family. He lived a comfortable life as a youth, and politically opposed the papacy.  After he experienced the forgiveness of St. Philip Benizi, he changed his life and joined the Servite order.  He was ordained a priest, and later returned to his home to establish a Servite community.  There he was widely known for his preaching, penances, and counsel in the confessional.  He was cured of cancer, after he received a vision of Christ on the cross reaching out His hand to touch his impaired limb.  He died in 1345 and was canonized in 1726.  He is the patron of cancer patients.

O Magnum Mysterium is a responsorial chant from the Matins of Christmas. This version was composed in 1994 by American composer Morten Lauridsen, and is sung by the Choir of King's College, Cambridge. Lauridsen said of his composition, "I wanted this piece to resonate immediately and deeply into the core of the listener, to illumine through sound."

O magnum mysterium, et admirabile sacramentum, ut animalia viderent Dominum natum, jacentem in praesepio! Beata Virgo, cujus viscera meruerunt portare Dominum Christum. Alleluia!

Blessed is the Virgin whose womb was worthy to bear Christ the Lord. Alleluia!"

It is catching on. Our national Marian Shrine, Knock Basillica, put this photo from their outdoor Crib on social media yesterday.

LOL Cats will find any place that is warm and cozy. We have a stray cat in our neighborhood, I think it has found a cozy place in a neighbor's storage-porch. I called the local shelter, and they said that there are feral cats in town. and the best they can do for them is trap and spay or neuter. I don't know what it will do when we have a sub-zero stretch.

I have a book on the Marian appearances. I never knew about Knock. I was most impressed with Banneux.

"A Woman Clothed with the Sun" is the title. I got it through an Amazon secondhand seller.

feelingfeline--love the kitty in the manger at Knock. I have holy water from Knock. A lovely little old Irish nun here in the States gave it to me when I was diagnosed. She still has relatives in Ireland she visits and they always go to the Knock shrine when she goes home to Ireland. I would love to make it to Knock sometime to visit. MCBaker I am reading a book right now on the apparitions of San Nicolas. They are all amazing stories aren't they?

Yes, they are. I was skeptical of La Salette, mostly because the witnesses were not saintly, but who knows?

Amazement and disbelief are so similar, yet so different.

Banneux was in 1933, the most recent in my book. San Nicolas does look interesting. There was one close to where I live, but it was justifiably suppressed.

Went to see the film "Love and Mercy - Faustina" last night, which was the last night of cinema showings in Ireland, and the first night I could make it.

Happy to report that the run was actually extended to last night due to demand.

It was a beautiful film with much that was very moving, in fact I wept through several portions of the film, which I completely was NOT expecting. Lovely balance between people today and the historic story, which is not really very old. Lots that I didn't know, particularly about the role of her priest confessor Blessed Fr. Michael Sopocko. He was afraid at first, understandably, and then as he came to know her he realised that she was truly the holy recipient of grace and prophecy. One of the moving things was the great love of a nun in Vilnius in present day, speaking about the love of God, and the other thing I found very moving was message shown by the lives of St. Faustina and Bl. Fr Michael Sopocko that so many people die with their work seemingly incomplete, even seeming in ruins, and yet it goes on to bear great fruit. XXX
