Chi- I will have to watch that now. I knew she had a daughter who was an actress but not sure I knew her name. Thanks for sharing that!

Made it home from Vegas. Dang I am tired. It is winter here again, spring when I left on Friday and snow here in NM today. Back to reality.

In the high 40s today, low 50s tomorrow. Back to reality on Wed. (naturally, because I have a mani-pedi and should ideally wear my Fit-Flops home), but warming up again into the 50s on Thurs & Fri with 60s next weekend. This is Chicago, in mid-Feb.! It’s insane. I fear that karma will hit us with snow and sub-freezing temps in April and flurries into early May. It’s happened several times.

Chi- it has been very warm here and see some bud covers on the front ash tree that have come down while I was gone and with the snow and rain. The trees were starting to come out and way too soon for that. It is raining tonight and think there will be snow too. We often get snow right up to May here and one year was in Santa Fe for Memorial Day and it was snowing. Pretty much have to be ready for anything until June around here!

Sandy, that is certainly a bummer about your house being put on the back burner. I hope it's not for too long. Ha ha, Wal mart has a huge array of lamp shades!

Gosh, you guys and your coffee! During my 2 weeks on the FU pills I only have 1 cup of coffee in the morning and on my week off, I have 2. That's it, I'm done.

Hsant, your daddy is so all over the place with his health, so glad we are in a good time. Well, we were at least when you posted your lamp shade pic. Which btw is awesome and you are beautiful my friend.

    Hi Queeny.

Jazzy, how cool that you scored such great seats for DR. And what great pictures. Love all the costume changes. No snow for us, just a little drizzle and some wind. Welcome home.

Cami, it's always so sweet of you to find a DOTD so NM doesn't have to.

Wow NM, you really got winter, didn't you! Love the wine purse!

Not much to report on my end. Just starting to get busy around here!

Diana Ross's DD. I think you can see the resemblance here.

    Hi girls,

Lori, glad you got some decent sleep last night. I still think a good idea to try some "vitamins" that quiet your brain in case other methods do not work. I used to sleep with my TV on, for as many years as I can remember. But since the headaches started, I can't take any noise or light. Further, I've found lately that I usually pull the covers over my head to sleep lol. I have low voltage light-sensored candles in all of my windows and i guess the light bothers my sleep. I also sleep a lot during the daylight. Thanks for the advise of typing, will try it. And yes, the surgery pic I posted with the lampshade is from when I had ulnar nerve surgery on my elbow. OMG on "waving a firearm"!!! You are funny. But this is for real huh? Only in AZ (jk)!

NM, I'd assume you ended up working yesterday since you did not report back. Geez, I saw the weather there and one word "insanity"! We had the nor'easter here yesterday with wind gusts going up to 55mph. It was trash day here and it looked like a war zone. I cancelled two appointments and third was cancelled on me. I had a genetic testing appt for new mutation other than BRCA, had dental to get the NTI and appt to get stitches out (which I ended up taking out my darnself after looking at a youtube refresher course(not the first time for me and i have removed drains before). I guess I am a wanna be, NM! I hope your work week goes well and that driving is safe and non stressful for ya !

Jazzy, geez, your trip jest flew by, can't believe you are home already. But whatta ride you had in seeing such great . I hope the visit with your sis and her partner went very well, sorry it whizzed by toooo fast!

Chi, thanks for telling me that it is DR's daughter on the show "Black-ish". I saw some previews last night (while watching The Bachelor) and remembered that you also commented on the show "The Goldbergs" which reminded me that I want to check out the lineup tomorrow night on ABC. The shows look good! Sorry about the delay with your project, doesn't seem fair to put your repairs on the back burner. BOO. Love all of your coffee gizmo's, especially how you can grind on the go. You are something else!

Bella is going alright. She has eaten well. She is very "quiet" in bed, meaning very still. She usually moves, scratches, licks her paw or something. I have a feeling that it will not be long for her but I am also hopeful. I worry mostly about the rapid growth of her abdominal mass and how it affects her overall. She is such a sweet girl. I dreamed last night that both of my dogs were on the front page of US Today. lol. I had many dreams, one was were I was babysitting Logan and took him to the beach. He fell asleep in a floatie in the ocean so I left to get a drink then could not find him when I went back in the water. Ugh, so weird. I guess that dream is telling me not to drink and babysit, especially near the Atlantic Ocean lol.

Where is Cammy? Will I bump her in the pool? Thinking of Mary (Emma) and Hsant too. Hope everyone has a great day.

    chEErs!

Sandy, I'll give Bob's wine buy a try. I go for lower alcohol wines. My Total Wine carries it. I don't know how you stay awake so late. I'm such a "senior" - jammies on by 7 though I don't go to bed until 10 or 11. The cat is my built-in alarm clock and 5:30 is when she goes off and makes life totally miserable from then on - she annoys the dog who responds precisely as kitty wants. And no sleep for me.

    HUGS!!

Good afternoon ladies- having a slow day here after four very busy days away. Yesterday was more of a travel day, but was pretty sleep deprived by the time Monday came around. Not because I was out all night at the casino (I know what you were thinking Cami.....), but more just from not being able to sleep past 4 a.m. One time being woken up by drunk people in the hallway making a racket, but the other few days, not sure why? Anyways, there is no place like home and sleeping in your own bed!

The long weekend in Vegas was fun, Fun, FUN! Arrived early afternoon on Friday afternoon, my room was ready and began exploring the Venetian. That is when I discovered the theater there, and that Diana Ross was playing that evening. I was stunned, and thought OMG, I HAVE TO GO! I went to the box office and asked about tickets for the three of us, and they still had good seats left. Since the CA gals would likely be tired from the trip, I told myself if they were not interested (and given we had no concrete plans for that evening), I was prepared to get a ticket and do my own thing.

My sis and partner arrived an hour or so after I did and once they were settled in their room, we discussed whether doing another show was something they wanted to do. They were a bit road weary (came through a bad sand storm) and wanted to just relax in the room for awhile. We had already talked about not having to do everything together, and they knew I wanted to go to see Diana Ross so I went and got a ticket. The nice thing about buying a single seat is you can usually score something good up front and even last minute. I was eight rows back!

Diana Ross has a stage presence and charged that audience like nothing I have seen before. Everyone was up and dancing and singing right along with her. She did a whole series from her Supremes repertoire, some of her 80s music (I'm Coming Out, theme from Mahogany, Upside Down, etc.) and brought back some great memories. I was a young girl during the Supremes time frame, but loved her 80's music and always thought she was so beautiful and glamorous. Very much like that in the shows and she is 72 years old and still going strong. She sang for 90 min straight and one encore. The Venetian Theater reminds me of the historic theaters in NYC, but has a more intimate feeling and was perfect for this show.

The second evening was the Elton John concert, and I was 10 rows back for that and right in front of the piano so I could see everything so well, including his piano playing. What a show, the stage and sound was incredible and like no concert I have been to ever. He told a lot of stories too, about meeting John Lennon (also godfather to his son, Shawn), about having to play after 911 and struggling to figure out what music to play (this is when he wrong Mona Lisa and Madhatters), about George Michael who was a friend and talked about the duet with him on Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me (one of my favs), about how he and Bernie Taupin write music together (Taupin writes the lyrics, gives them to him and he writes the music to go with it!) He said he loves performing more than ever these days. My sister saw him in the past and said he was never as good as this time, something about him is different than in earlier years (life experience, appreciates more, happier?) I was in awe the whole 2 hours he played. Caesers Palace is a great place to see a major show like this!

There was some shopping, good eats, and spa time too. The Venetian has a Canyon Ranch Spa which is well known and pretty high end, but so very nice. They have a good gym there where I worked out twice (sister too), but also did a treatment there on Sunday afternoon. Best facial I have ever had and loved my time there.

We ate in and around the hotel during our time there, and had breakfast twice at Bouchon, including brunch with some friends of theirs who came in to meet us on Sunday. YUMMO! Also had some good food at a Mario Batali restaurant over in St. Marks Square on evening called Uno. Some fabulous apps and pasta there as well.

The shoppes at Grand Canal are very nice, but pricey. They have some very aggressive skin care store people who come out with supposedly free samples and try to lure you in. They try to force their lotions on you, or other things and cop and attitude when you want know part of it. I am pretty selective about my skin care and where I buy my products (usually from the spas I visit) and had a couple times they tried to corner me. I was telling the therapist at Canyon Ranch my story and she told me they were telling people at one point they were offering free facials at Canyon Ranch with the purchase of their products. These people were showing up expecting free facials and have no affiliation with these stores. My sister says they do it out in Palm Springs at some places too. Just wow?

I did visit a great jewelry store called Uno de 50 with some very cool jewelry from a designer in Spain and came away with a nice silver bracelet. The gal I bought it from sent me a nice follow up thank you note to my e-mail! We had a great conversation while I was there and she told me how Willy Nelson had been in the mall the week before and she got to meet him.

So all in all, it was a fab time and now I am back home getting in to my routine. I have a class tonight and working on some things for that so I will say adios for now and share more Elton pics if anyone would like to see them!

Hi Peggy glad u came back to us.

Jazzy I want to see every pic u have. U know how I am and u'r trip sounds unbelievable---u'r right on top of the stage. The last couple of times I saw EJ, I thought the same thing (on TV looked happy I thought. An DR looked great. 72? chit, I don't even have energy to hold a mike, well if anyone wanted me too. I'm so glad it turned out even better that u thought.

Dara I hope Bella does well for some time, it's heartbreaking. BTW u added to that pic.--What the hell r u people computer savants? U gals can take pics from anywhere, can change pics. can put writings in, double page things. And when I read Jazzy' thing about apps I thought she was computer talking, til I realize she was talking about food.

NM I hope u got to stay home today. U'r weather sounds horrible.

    I'll be back.

    Okay Cami, here we go......

Singing a song about the native Americans

    image

I love the Versace look on the piano and all the lovely stage changes they would make

    image

He would periodically stop and look at us and smile or cheer us on

    image

Close ups were more easily captured when they put him up on the big screen

    image

    Pretty in pink?

    image

He came out at the beginning with a sequin cape and this was towards the end of the show with the pink tuxedo jacket. Walking the stage with a big old smile

    image

His band and many of these guys have been playing with him since the very beginning of his music days in the late 60s

    image

They opened up the screen behind him to do this big panoramic thing for Philadelphia Freedom that was just fantastic

    image

This was towards the end of the concert when they allowed the first few rows to come up on the stage (must have been some special VIP tickets for big bucks I would say.....)

Glad you enjoyed Vegas, Jazzy. “Mona Lisas & Mad Hatters” predates 9/11 by almost 30 years—I remember singing along to it on the radio during my law school commute. It was on the 1972 Honky Chateau album (same one with “Rocket Man”). But one of my faves is his live duet performance of 1970’s “Love Song” with its writer Lesley Duncan on the Tumbleweed Connection album:

Love is the opening door. Love is what we came here for. No one can offer you more.

Do you know what I mean? Have your eyes really seen?

It’s probably the quintessential male-female harmony duet in classic rock (right up there with Eric Clapton’s duet of “Promises” with Marcella Detroit (nee Levy), who also co-wrote “Lay Down Sally”).

    Good Morning Ladies,

Jazzy thank u so very much, I'm mesmerized with the pics. And I've seen tht piano (TV and just loved it, I don't know what song I don't like that he's done--I've always liked "Daniel" and enjoyed hearing his stories how songs were written. Did he have the 2 young stand up base players with him--They are adorable, and yes I know his band has been with him forever an I like people like that.

Sandy u know much more than I could ever know, being in the business u'r self. Oh how enjoying it is for u to sing and people just listening to u. I't no wonder u have to worry about u'r vocal chords. And certainly hoping they're doing well.

How is everyone doing? NM u had so much snow this weekend can u get out today. I know u'r streets are usually taken care of quickly, since u are all so prepared, but u still got loaed. Just take it easy, that's all u can do. And I hope u'r feeling much better.

Dara u mentioned u play piano too, Another group u can make from just these girls postings and call u'rselves "The Breast Times" So much talent here.l

For some reason I thought yesterday was Thursday, even tho it was Valentine's day. Well my valentine gave me candy with a picture he cut out. And we watched Dance Moms together, so that was my day and that was wonderful for me.

OK going to look at Jazzy's pics. again. I hope everyone has a great day.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Hump Day! This week is going well at work despite the snowy start. Had a late visit yesterday but that put me with the 2 people I needed to talk to the most, and was able to help them understand what was happening with the patient and make everyone more comfortable. Don't mind after hours visits when I get this kind of results!

Goldie--I saw that wine purse on Fb, had to post it here! Definite resemblance between mother and daughter.Interesting dress, for a moment I thought she was not wearing anything!

Dara--Yeah, we got a bit of snow the other day. Going to get more later today and tomorrow. It's winter in Maine, the world has turned white! Taking stitches and drains out isn't as hard as it sounds, look at home many times they pop out on their own.And when it's time for them to be out, I want them OUT! So far the work week is going well, praying it stays that way. Very weird dreams you have, but entertaining.Praying for Bella.

Cammy--that's a great looking Pink Squirrel!Never heard of infused whipped cream, looks yummy, wonder where I can find some.

    Jazzy--nice pic!

Peggy--the 4 footed alarm clocks are sooooo hard to snooze!

    Chi--sounds like a fun dinner!

Jazzy--I can picture the Venetian as you talk about what you did there, what a beautiful place!Never stayed there, but have visited several times.Great place for people watching. The bracelet sounds really pretty. Sounds like you had a really good time.

Cammy--the weather here yesterday was actually good.Got the intense blue sky we only get in the winter, just gorgeous. More snow coming in later today, going to try to get the visits done early and get home again.

    Jazzy--WOW!

Ha ha Wacko, I always sleep with my head under the covers, have done it since I was a child.

Jazzy, do you get a discount for buying a ticket last minute? Never thought about the fact that a single ticket could score a good seat. Glad Elton put on a good show and DR. We saw Cher several years ago, and she put on a good show too. I love when they tell stories. Dolly does that as well. You are so right about the obnoxious skin care people there. OMG, I never had so much collagen in my life! Works for about 30 minutes and that's it, which is why they try to get you to buy right then.

Laffing at you Cami, thinking apps were the computer and Jazzy meant appetizers.

Jazzy you got some great pictures. Mine never turn out that good. And the meet and greet thing is something pretty much all of them do. More moolah coming in.

NM, you are an angel for sure. Glad you were able to talk to the family that needed you. That drink is so pretty!

Tammy and Bentley are supposed to come over today, other than that, not much going on here. Mary and Cami, I'm hoping to be able to get out your way whilst meese is in MI. March 3-13th.

Good morning friends- getting myself grounded here back home and spent the day at home yesterday getting unpacked, laundry done, some calls completed and my class homework for my writing class done. I stopped at Whole Foods on the way to class (nearby) for a few groceries and it was mobbed with flower buyers for V-day. They also had a nice wine tasting going on, but could not stay for that. Class went well and enjoy this group, lots of interesting short story ideas people are working on. Very interesting group of people, and the class taught by a friend of mine.

I have more out and about things to do today including a business luncheon, going to pick up my new bike that got pimped out with a few additions after I bought it, and more. I have to get going on my tax planner tonight, no more dawdling!

Goldie- no last minute discounts, but a friend told me there is a half price ticket place in Vegas for shows the day of, but not nearby and too complicated to deal with having just arrived. Good to know about for the future though. My sister saw Cher there eight years ago and said she puts on a great show. The legends have such great stories to tell, don't they? I think it would be a good place to be that you already have made it in the music world and have nothing to prove, just out there doing what you love......

I hope you have a nice day with your visitors!

NM- I heard the northeast got a bunch of snow and sounds like you are coping okay with that and the work week not too bad so far. I hope that continues. Does Sadie like to play in the snow?

Cami- glad you like the pics and I like the song Daniel too, did not happen in the concert though. He has a new best hits album so we both got a copy of that CD in the store they have there just for the performers. I ordered something on line from Amazon this week of Diana Ross hits and that is coming too (I was ordering something else so I just decided to add that in). Going to listen to the Elton CD this morning.

So sweet that Joey got you some lovely things yesterday and spent time with you last night. He is such a peach!

Chi- oh I had that all wrong about Mona Lisa and Madhatters time frame. My three favs of his in order are 1) Funeral for a Friend 2) Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me and 3) Rocket Man. He played 2 and 3 in the concert plus a lot of other goodies.

BTW, I am really in to rose's and love sparkling rose. Do you have any fav's to recommend?

Dara dear- did your adjusted device get rid of the headaches? Are you feeling better friend?

Hsant- how is your dad doing?

Mema, Pontiac, and all my other friends here, wishing you a good day!

Jazzy, my favorite rosé sparklers are (cheapest to more expensive but still reasonable), Vega Medien Cava Brut Rosé (Spain), Chandon Blanc de Noirs (Napa), Mumm Napa Brut Prestige Rosé, Ferrari Brut Rosé NV (Italy), and Mumm Napa Brut Reserve Rosé. The prices range from about $12-35, and they’re all made by the traditional naturally-fermented in the same bottle method (in Champagne & California they can say “Methode Champenoise” but elsewhere they have to say whatever translates to “traditional method” or “naturally fermented in this bottle.” Of course, I really love Veuve Cliquot Brut Rosé, but usually on someone else’s dime.

Here’s how the traditional method works. The still wine, after a very short time in vat and barrel, is bottled in thick-walled glass bottles with deeply-indented bottoms (called “punts”) and corked with a wire bail to hold the cork in place. The bottles are placed cork down into holes in what are called “riddling racks.” At first, the angle is just a bit steeper than horizontal, but every few days or so the bottles are “riddled,” or turned a little while getting a subtle shake, and placed at an ever-steeper angle. They make chalk marks on the punt so they can tell when the bottles were last “riddled.” As the riddling progresses, the lees (sediment) get shaken a bit further loose as they move down the neck. When they reach the cork, the bottles are placed, still cork down, into subfreezing water long enough to freeze the lees into a plug. The winemakers then quickly turn the bottles right side up, quickly uncork them just long enough to inject a “dosage” (a little bit of sweetened brandy). The sweeter the dosage, the sweeter the champagne will be. The driest is “brut zero” (aka “brut sauvage” or “brut nature”), which is immediately recorked without injecting a dosage. Brut is the next driest, Extra Dry a tiny bit sweeter (and some houses’ Extra Dry are as dry as others’ Bruts), then Sec, Demi-Sec and Doux. Then the bottles are immediately recorked, re-wired, and wrapped in foil for a second fermentation. The “punt” at the bottom is because the wine is under tremendous pressure from the bubbles that form during fermentation—pressure so high that it would explode a flat or only slightly-indented bottom, thinner glass bottle.

When I was in law school, we used to drink Paul Masson Crackling Rosé. If that sounds familiar to you, remember Neil Diamond’s “Cracklin’ Rosie?” Yup, that’s what he was singing about. It was a charmat, or bulk-process bubbly, as is just about anything under ten bucks except perhaps Korbel and Chateau Ste. Michelle (and they're creeping up in price). Charmat means the wine, while in a tank, is carbonated after fermentation. Prosecco is tank-fermented-and carbonated. (That’s why it’s not as bubbly and is a bit sweeter than trad. method Italian sparklers). Most Charmat or bulk-process bubbly bottles have a very slightly concave bottom, which is mostly for show (and to fool the unwary into thinking it’s the real deal).

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Friday Eve! Snowing, again, but not as much as predicted. Only got an inch, so nothing to get excited about.I am glad it's not the over a foot that was originally predicted.Apparently this storm decided to stay further off shore and mostly bother the fish. Very pretty out there, though with all the sparkly new snow.

Goldie--I thought that drink was pretty, too!Love flowers in drinks and food, so pretty.

Jazzy--a day at home can be a good thing. The writing class sounds interesting, I bet there are a lot of stories and story ideas floating around there. Sadie generally likes to play in the snow, but right now the snow is as deep as she is high, and it's funny to watch her.I'll try to get a video this weekend, she's got a trail carved out that she runs in, but she forgets and bounds into the snow and then gets this look on her face as if to say "What the heck?"

Chi--Great info about champagne making! You are such a font of info on wines, love reading your posts!

    Good Morning ladies,

Wow this page is pretty empty, but everyone will catch up I'm sure.

Jazzy I know I've said this before an years ago when we first met, U can make a 24 hr. day double by all u do. I'ts great. U'r one of those people that are the interesting people on earth LOL.

NM u have such a kind heart, u are always so concerned for u'r patients, so admirable. Are there any plans to see u'r cousins soon or does the weather keep u all down a bit. I'm glad this wee is going well for u.

I have to ask Sandy, do u know all this about wine by heart? It is unbelievable, it's so interesting, never knew so much went into wines. really. I still remember lots of yrs. ago when we lived in Chicago we had cellars, and that where wine was made--no one was allowed down there, but of course u had to peak--and all there were were big barrels--big deal to us but that was was so strong, it lasted til the next season an as a kid my grandpa would give the kids a shot glass of wine in the morning (medicine???) my mom would always have a fit, but he didn't stop.

Lori u'r having company, I hope u really enjoy all of it.

Just 2 screw-ups with work yesterday. It was so stupid, I called one of the guys and he completely took care of it for me--Oh I know he talks to Dan--they are super close but it's best after he makes it good. Like my lightening rod debacle is still being talked about. Oh well.

I just washed clothes (done) an took my so called shower--so I did some stuff today, I was up again super late but I thought I' try to just relax and boy did I miss my Katie- she loved to relax, It seems so long ago and yet it's not.

    OK I'll be booock

    LUBS U ALL
