Reading everyone's posts, but not posting much for awhile....toooooooooo many stresses regarding the supposed house closing. One setback after another, and the inspection was PAGES long. Gonna find a quiet corner of the bar and chill out.

BUT just had to post about your hair, Lori! I love the curly look with just mousse!! Really looks great, and very youthful looking too. Way to go, girlfriend!

Love the drinks goldie and the hair pics are gorgeous!! Just took the last of my cytoxan for this round. I've been doing well except for today for some reason feeling kinda PO'd at the whole thing. I need a drink and so glad there are some fine choices here. I get two weeks off now, yippee, and I should feel happy, but instead, grumpy...oh, well, this too shall pass. I think it's this darn gray, cold weather. I have sweat pants on, a T-shirt, a turtle neck and a thick sweatshirt and my feet are still cold! Grumble, grumble... I hope all you lovely ladies are doing well and enjoying heat and sunshine!! (I'm jealous)

All my best (grumble, grumble), Beans

Beanius--Jocks just went to turn the hot tub temp up a few degrees--why not take your drink and soak until your feet thaw and you feel nice and relaxed?  I may even come keep you company!

Way to go NM with the walking--you might inspire me to get off my butt and start walking--but, not until I send some of these 100+ temp days to Bean!!!

Looks like the summer doldrums are setting in for us all--poof to them!    Drinks are on me!!!   See y'all out at the pool!

Beanius, you need to move to a different part of the coast! We've had warm sunny days for a while - to the point where I need to go out and water my new tree!

But in case you don't want to move away from there...just wait, the chemopause hot flashes should start soon! :)

Still busy busy busy with school but it's paying off. I'm at 100% in one class and an A in the other (why they don't all mark the same is beyond me!).

    Take care and safe drinking,

    Connie

Sorry for the double post yesterday.  Not sure how that happened.

Today I got to the bend in the road, almost within site of the goat farm that is my first goal.  When I measured distances on my road the goat farm was 1/4 mile from my driveway, so a round trip will be 1/2 mile.  I'm thinking I'll get to it tomorrow.  Bonus of the walk this am--saw a sign that a farm on a side road off mine is selling fresh veggies--beet greens and I forget what else was on the sign.  I love fresh stuff, going to have to stop buy and get some on one of my walks!

Junie--I do NOT go for a walk if the temp is above 80 degrees unless the humidity is 0%!  I've been lucky that the weather here has changed and the humidity has dropped, somewhat, and the temps have come down to something a bit more like what we usually have here.  Low 70's in the ams, getting up to the 80's daytime.  I'd be glad to donate the extra heat from here to anyone who wants it. . .

Connie--frustrating the way different classes get graded, isn't it?  That has got to be a pain when you are trying to calculate your GPA.

Wahine--I'm sorry the closing is being so stressfull, that kind of thing is just not what anyone needs. A PAGES long inspection report has to be either really good or really bad--hope it was the former!

NM, glad to hear things are moving along....as well as you....LOL! Fresh veggies, YUM! I think we might venture out to our local Farmers Market on Saturday. Its pretty small and rather expensive, but nothing like fresh home grown veggies. You just can't get that in the store. Double post....too many drinks...ha ha ha!

K, sorry to hear about the house problems Frown Try not to stress too bad about it. It is what it is and if it's meant to be it will be. Hugs for you ((((Kathy))))

Beans, is that typical for your weather there? Brrrrr. I don't much like our extreme heat, but I don't like winter at all. But mostly I think it is because it gets dark so early. And then for you to have that gray gloom......I know that from living in MI for 40 years. Enjoy your 2 week vacation! How's your hair doing? Still hanging in there?

HD, hope you had fun on your date...lol!

Connie, way to go on the grades! Are you enjoying it?

POOF to the doldrums........I'm having a MOJITO. (one of my favs)

    Ingredients

    • Ice
    • 6 ounces light rum
    • 12 mint sprigs, or spearmint, 8 roughly broken apart
    • 6 tablespoons fresh lime juice
    • 4 tablespoons sugar
    • Club soda
    • 4 slices lime

    Directions

Place ice in beverage shaker then add in the rum, 8 broken up mint sprigs, lime juice and sugar. Shake well and serve over ice in a high ball glass. Top off each glass with a splash of club soda.

Garnish each with a slice of lime and a sprig of mint.

    Bottums Up

Hey, Lori - great hair! I had curly hair in the 80s but it went straight as soon as I got preggers and not even a perm would curl it. Not sure what would happen if I lost it all and it grew back...maybe a silver lining? More likely it would just come back 100% gray and stick-straight! The drink is so appropriate -- c'est trés chic!

I had an endometrial biopsy (I said "no thanks" last time someone offered but that was pre-bc) and a pelvic US but no one is poking at my liver yet! Lord only knows what they might find in my liver but there is almost certainly some gin and a lot of wine! I should hear back from the doc today with results. I'm just worried that she will want to D&C and then I'll have to postpone my new foobs cuz the new PS won't operate if I've had another recent procedure. In the meantime, I just learned that a dear friend has to have a breast biopsy and her lump is exactly where mine was. I'm hoping it's a sympathy lump but it doesn't sound good. It's going to be a long week...

Glad to see NM is up and about! And Jules, Beans and Kitty are popping in from the chemo fog when they can. I think we can keep all the tattie tenders busy! I'll take 3 of those bioches myself!

Wow, I'm way behind. We're drinking mojitos now... hold the biotches Jocks and bring me one of those mojitos! I had a tapas party one time and DH made gallons of mojitos. We have mint galore but can't seem to get a lime tree to do anything. I wonder if rum trees would grow in California?

Beans -I was pretty PO'd last night about my friend having to go through this too... enough is enough! Try the hot tub though -- nothing like warm water and a cool drink to reset your perspective.

NM -OOOOOOOOOO a hot tub, what a great idea, I'm going in double fisted with a Classy Biotch and an (anti doldrum) Mojito, now all's well! Thanks and please do join me! Great news on your walks and you're doing it so sensibly. I was so excited about ending round 1 I started doing more and more, thinking like I was going to be back to normal, ha, ha, ha, and then I just pooped out yesterday. I slept ten hours and woke up still feeling tired. I'm doing nothing but soaking in the hot tub and drinking copious quantities today. Much better.

junie - any heat you want to send this way is more than welcomed. It was supposed to be sunny today, but it's another cold, gray, sweatshirt day. Here's to 100+ wherever you are!

Hi HD - Tacos, yippee, that's my fav, we're having them tonight, yippee, yippee! Hope yours were good, did you have tequila shots with them or some Bohemia (I think that's my favorite beer on the planet)?

    bohemia

Connie - yes, DH and I were just talking about that today. I need to be sort of near Seattle until my tx is done. We have everything for sale and were talking about maybe moving somewhere warmer until. We have 40 ac in Okanogan county with a recreation set up and we're going over there this week to get some sun inbetween chemo rounds. It's nice here when it's sunny, but it's rarely sunny. How's school going? Hope it's going well for you.

goldie - Another great drink choice, perfect in the hot tub! And I love the bottoms up pic, so cute. I think we're having a particularly cool summer here. Ha, summer, we aren't having a summer here, it's more like late fall except the birds are out and everything is lush and green. My hair is hanging in there. I might have a bit more shedding, but so far I haven't noticed a big change, but then it's only been 16 days. I got Nioxin shampoo and conditioner that is supposed to help prevent thinning or make it look fuller. I have my fingers crosse. I found this beautiful photo of AZ and I have it as my desktop pic now. I love the desert and hope to move somewhere warmer someday.

AStorm - So sorry to hear about your friend, aaarrrggghhh! Yes, enough is enough, I can't believe what we all have to go through. To quote kittycat, "this disease sucks!" But the drinks help a lot!!! Goldie's been dishing up some good ones for sure. I'm wishing you excellent super fantastic biopsy results.

Bottoms up, ladies! Cheers and now I'm roasty toasty. Many thanks, Beans

Yummy Mojito!  I cheat and make a fake sort of mojito by putting some rum in some sparkling water flavored with lime--nowhere near as good as the real thing, but yummy all the same.

No walk tomorrow am since I'm driving for the first time, got a doc's appointment, figure that will be tiring enough.  If not, maybe I can get a walk in later in the evening.

P.S. Here's a pic of my rec place in Okanogan County, where it gets sunny and warm in the summer. (Winter before last it got down to minus 30!) It's on 40 ac about 30 miles from the Canadian border. We have really nice neighbors over there too.

Hey gals!  It sounds like so many of you are busy walking, running, etc...  For me - no exercise other than walking up and down the stairs. :)

Lori - love love love the hair photos!  You look fab!  I can't believe it got up to 109 there.  That is so crazy!!!

Speaking of crazy...  I really wanted to go the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  Last year I got a couple cute blazers for $40 each.  So, I dragged my old chemo self to Nordstrom - wig and all.  I picked out all these clothes and then didn't have the energy to try them on!  Well, this serious shopper prevailed.  There I am in the dressing room, sitting on the nice cushy bench they provide between each garment.  The sales lady probably wondered why I was taking so long.  I considered asking them if they had a sofa I could lay on and to bring me water.  I mean - this is Nordstrom!  Well, I decided to save myself the embarrassment.  I found a few cute tops and a pair of dress slacks (for $39).  Then the sales lady found me a blazer to match my slacks and it was only $37.  A suit for less than $80.  Woo Hoo!!!  It was worth the suffering!

I visited some customers today.  I've got quite used to my wig.  I love it now.  It only takes me a minute to do my hair.  I had 3 customers compliment me on my hair!  One of them asked me if I changed my hair.  I told him the whole BC story.  He's really kind and wants to get me something from his church.  The other customers I just said "thanks!"  The one lady kept telling me how she loved the color on me.  So, when my hair grows in I'll have to get my hairdresser to check out this color!  I'm really thinking of getting another wig in a different color like Melanie has just to change things up!

So, my sister's wedding is 3 days after my last treatment (end of September).  My onco gave me the ok to go, but wouldn't change the dates since I have dose dense ACT. I begged and pleaded with them to give me the Neulasta shot early in the morning the next day (instead of the afternoon).  So, I'll fly to NYC after that.  I'll be a chemo zombie for the wedding, but I really want to go.  :) My husband isn't so hype to this wedding thing, but it's my sister!  My cousin's daughter's wedding is at the end of October.  I'll most likely be starting radiation right before then.  Sucks to have to plan around BC!!!!  I missed my friend's wedding last year because of my bmx!

Sooo... I've got quite tired of my house not being as clean as I want. I can't keep up with it being so tired from chemo (and still working, shopping, etc - LOL).   So, I decided to hire my inlaw's housekeeper to come clean my house next week.  I am so excited about this.  She's cleaned my house before but coughs and hacks (I think she's allergic to animals).  And I stopped having her clean because she always wanted to come on a day where I had to work in the field.  Now that I'm laid up for a few days after chemo, I have more time at home!   Yipeee!!!!

    Hey, kittykat!

I hear you about the housekeeping.  I used to have a housekeeper come in, years and years ago when I had a job that paid real money, and it was NICE! I'm so glad you can enjoy that little luxury while you're in treatment!   Right now I'm useing housework as physical therapy.  I can sweep one room before I have to stop and rest/let the aches ease up, but over the course of a day I can get almost everything done!  Today I'm going to drive for the fist time, should be an experience, let you know how it goes.

Gail - did you hear about your results? Sorry to hear about your friend and hoping her tests come back B9! I do get my hair highlighted, which I have never done until after chemo. But its pretty much the same color as before. No more gray than before. But when it first started coming back it was all gray/silver.

Beans - Glad you are able to go somewhere and get some sun, and that sure looks like a mighty fine place to do it! Gorgeous! Ya got bears up der in dem der woods? So glad to hear you are hanging on to your hair as well.......thats awesome! You should have waited and posted your Bohemian today as DOTD!

Kitty - thanks for the hair compliment, most seem to favor the curly style, so I will have it trimmed to wear it like that. It is certainly a whole lot easier! Well glad to hear you are feeling well enough to go shopping...wooooo hoooooooo! You know there is a company that will come clean your house for free while you are doing treatments. I believe its called cleaning for a reason. They come once a month for months, I think.

NM - good luck to you at your appt today, but I just have a feeling everything will be just fine. You seem to be following all the rules!

Kathy - I hope you are getting things cleared up with mom and dads house! We miss you!

Dee - giving a big shout out to you as well. I hope you are at least stopping by to read! Miss you as well! Hugs!

Well remember my video of the Old West Town and the greenhouse. I had 2 little window boxes under the windows. Well Darrell had thrown a rug over the top of one, it had gotten wet and we took the flowers out, just too hot I guess. Well anyways, I have a little bird that has made a nest in there. Well we got a huge wind storm the other day and it blew the rug off, so I put a piece of wood in there, on the bottom of the box at one end and resting on the top at the other end where the nest is, so its on an angle and couldn't blow off and possibly crush the eggs. Well yesterday ...... it rained...it poured! So I have to go out and make sure they are ok! But the rain was REALLY needed.

DOTD - Hot Afternoon (for Beans)

LMAO at the instructions - you will too!

    Ingredients

    1/2 oz Peach schnapps
    1/2 oz Kahlua

Instructions - Throw the shit in the shot glass and drink it down!

    Hugs to everyone!

    ROTFLMAO!!!!!

    I LOVE those directions!

Dr's apointment went just fine, was with my original (local) BS, who was delighted with the results of my recon and actually cried with me!  She did tell me where to do self exams now, even thought the risk of a new bc has been cut by 90% by the (now) bilateral mastectomies.  She also warned me about the various causes of lumps and bumps--fat necrosis, stitch granulomas, and a couple other things I don't remember now, but that she could determine what any particular lump or bump is with ultrasound right in her office.  So I don't have to give her up yet, got a follow up appointment in 6 months,

Besides the Dr's appointment going well, I almost had a normal day!  I drove myself into town for the appointment, stopped at Goodwill to see if I could find some tops--OK to try on some tops and find out what size I am now, which is probably XL (down from 2X!), put gas in the car, stopped at the bread store (the discount place, can't think of the proper name) but had to head home because the belly incision dressing starting draining onto my clothes.  Yuck.  Next time I'll know enough to put extra guaze on when I'm going out!  I'm a bit tired but not wiped out, MAJOR PROGRESS!!  I can see that I will have my life back totally in my control before very much longer!  Yeah!      Is this a good excuse for a partay?  I want a partay!!!!!

Hi gals, I love reading your posts today but for some reason I couldn't sleep last night and I'm just too tired today to say much...tomorrow DH is driving me to our place in the sun. It's 8 hours from the coast, so I will proly just sleep part of the way. What a lazy bum am I. I love the DOTD, Goldie - thanks that hot stuff is great!

P.S. to hunkydory - when I did sleep I was having nightmares about working in a lab last night. I kept trying to find pipet bulbs that other lab workers hadn't accidentally sucked chemicals into...then there was a lab accident and a whole bunch of toxic waste got dumped into a river..like I said it was a nightmare...I hate chemistry :-)

grrrrrrr!   Connie--NOT fair to tease us like that!!!   Can't wait for your news.    Yaaaaaay!!! TWO parties coming up....

will share an awful moment with you loungies......I'm lucky to be having some weekly cleaning help (thank you, DH!!!)   This afternoon, the girl found a pan in the oven with the remains of some dinner that we don't even remember!!!   I had a major WTF freakout because I was soooo embarassed!   I told her to just throw the whole thing, pan and all, in the trash.   She laughed and said, you lined the pan with foil; the pan is okay--then I heard, "God!  This is GROSS!"  But, bless her heart, she took care of the problem.......all I can think of is that we'd stuck the pan in the oven to cool down so the dog wouldn't get into it and forgot all about it.   Sure haven't been doing much baking with all this heat!   Can't blame chemo brain after all this time but I will claim ML brain!!!!!

Hope everyone is staying cool who are having the heat and you who need some warm sunshine get your Vitamin D fix......Bean--years ago, I lived near the Canadian border in the Upper Penn of Mich--the view from my back windows was a  huge forest of pine trees like in your picture...looks like a fabulous place!

Taking just half a bucket of iced ML--thanks Jocks darlin'--and heading to the pool before I start dinner!!!

    Big hugggssssss to ALL!!!!

*Sneaking in quietly, then in a loud voice*.....I'm BAAAAACCCCCCCK! Good morning ladies! Finally feeling like bellying up to the bar again.....its been soooooo stressful I can't believe it. BUT now it does look like closing will be next week (29th)....so another reason to party! We don't get the keys etc till the 4th (so they have time to move), and my mom arrives on the 5th! She will be here for 2 wks, and will get to see the house she bought for the first time (my gawd they trust me!). So Connie, along with your good news for a party, we can party about that too!! In fact, I think a BIG PARTAY on the 29th is in order, providing the closing goes well.

Beans, Hope you are safely on your way to your getaway "Rec Place". Looks so neat! Peace and quiet, up in the woods. Looks like a GREAT place for us all to get-together....but don't invite us all up there cause we would prob show up! And don't let me scare you off....when I mentioned to CAZ (kiddingly) that we could all meet up at her cabin in the woods, she hasn't posted much since then.Surprised

Lori, Love the "Hot Afternoon" drink....and esp the instructions...LMAO too! We got ingredients for one of your DOTD's, but haven't made it yet. Still loving our frozen watermelon drinks, and discovered we can just blend the frozen watermelon and add some good tequila (and thats it) and it is soooo yummmy!

junie, OMGAWD.....do you really think we have not done the same thing!!! LOL. I admit, it has been years since I have left food in the oven, but it def has happened. SO, hold your head up high again...no shame there!!! I know you wish you had found it though, and not one of "your girls"! I need to have a relaxing day.....joining you at the pool for a bucket of brewsky...

Had some "Oyster Draft" beer yesterday at an oyster house....but with all the oil mess at the gulf, no oysters from AL or MS waters anymore. But we enjoyed lunch and the beers, then figured out it was their fancy name for a regular domestic beer....yup....I asked....it was really Natural Light....sheesh!!!!! Heat indexes way over 100, like many of you here. Staying in a/c as much as possible...except of course at our pool....never gets over 80 degrees outside at the HTL....heavenly!

Hope everyone else that has not posted for awhile is doing good! And hang in there, chemo gals, you will get through with the tx eventually....hope the HTL lifts the chemo fog and lets you just have fun!!!!

The Brain Hemorhage drink looks yummy and yucky at the same time!  I wonder how it tastes?  Sounds like it should be pretty yummy.

Had trouble getting to sleep last night, woke up tired this moring, so I think I'm going to just veg out today.  I'm laying claim to one of the hammocks by the pool and relax with a good book.  Hope to see you all there!
