Don't you just hate it when your mojo ups and leaves with no warning? Did mojo run off with JP??? I looked for it on Wikipedia but all I found was Austin Powers.

    mojo

Now I'm looking in the bushes behind the pool. If I find it I'll let you know! Oh thank Goodness it is Happy Hour! I'd be glad to have a Seagrams n Diet Coke with my Dog Beers - at the pool, please don't laugh at my uneven tan, there's a big perfect square of red dots on my chest, looks like polka dots and my underarm is getting a nice darkred tan...geawd this is fun!!! Cheeeeers! Polka anyone?

ROFLMAO Beans! Oh please, please, please I hope you find it! Meanwhile, having Pants fix you a Seagrams/Diet Coke and a big iced bucket full of dog beers. Sure, we can all get a polka dot tan...we'll just put adhesive circles on various body parts, and see what happens. Glad you still have your sense of humor....not so much fun getting burnt every day! Bottoms Up! Ooops....that WOULD be a funny polka dot tan there....he,he,he. Well, down the hatch, how 'bout that?

    Cheerios!

Aha....you added that pic while I was typing! Funny!!!!

I feel sad as I have never danced the polka with anyone.  Not a monkey, not a man.  I remember the beer barrel polka song.  Guess that is as far as I am going to get.  Bring on the beer and strike up the music.  HD
P.S.  Put that back in the bushes

Funny HD, about putting that polka dot sock monkey back in the bushes! Don't feel tooooo badly; I don't remember dancing the polka either....unless it was one of those dances we had to do in the gym during PE, in 6th grade. When everyone was soooooo shy! The fun one was doing the Japanese Bon Dance, but I don't remember any of the others.

    Junie, where are you???????????????

Beans and HD.....  Did exercising my mojo last year with JP around count as a threesome???

Seriously, think both of you are on the mend, and it will return.  Sorry about the nasty burned skin Beans.

I almost bought some eggnog tonight, but was having enough problems dragging back all the stuff for making puddings tomorrow that I didn't buy any.  Of course, I could whip up some from the stuff I have lying around.

I was going to mail stuff from the Post Office, but when I saw the line out the door, headed for FedEx.  A bit more pricey, but couldn't hack waiting.

It is finally dawning on me that it's Christmas Week.  The great news is that I can always come back here if I need to escape.  CHairs.

You all are the best!!! Thanks so much! I think I've packed.... wonder what on earth I put in the suitcase? Oh well.... I just hope I packed something I can fit into. Have gained weight with everything these last few weeks.

Hopefully I'll come back with funny stories - I mean with that many people together, there have to be funny/odd people.... so that is my goal other than to read, sleep and have something fun to drink.

Thanks everyone and Merry Christmas! This will be my first Christmas not with any family.....

Hope everyone can relax and enjoy each other! Thanks again, you all make me so happy!

Hi all!   Wow there have been lots of goings on here tonight.  HD and Beans, hope you are both feeling a little better by the end of the week and can enjoy Christmas day. Everything is busy, busy, busy here, I got the icecream prepared yesterday so I just need to churn and freeze.  The spiders no longer live in my laundry as they all got their marching orders and the laundry now looks clean....for a while until they decide to move back in and then I'll have to do it all over again......Grrrrr!!!!  I'm beginning to feel the fatigue creeping up on me again as I know I'm doing way too much in a short space of time but I can't have all the kids here and a messy house too.....now that will send me around the bend!  The problems we cause by going away...UGH!!!!   I think I need a little bit of cheer sooooo.........Pants? I think I'll have a brandy alexander AND an piece of chocolate cheescake from the buffet.  I'll wait for it by the pool as I realy need to put the feet up!

    TITZ AND TOES UP ALL!!!!!!!!!!

Stanzie, Good luck with your traveling, and hope it ends up just wonderful! Try to relax, and drink, read, and drink, eat, and drink, oh and did I mention drink???? J/K. Do have a wonderful Christmas and check in here if you can!

Have avoided all lines at the post office even tho we've taken pkgs there every day, w/ mailing presents,as well as online sales. I print (have good scale) all postage at home and we just walk in past the long lines and sit them on the counter! They will even pick up when your mail is delivered, but our postal person lost a pkg, so we like to take them in!

Jaybird, miss you here, and your likker expertise! Hope you and Avery are doing well. My mom has just started drinking scotch again, and I was glad we had some Chivas to give her. Thank God that stuff keeps well. But that made me think of you, and your scotch drinking! Come back and see us.

Hi Chrissy! Missed your post while I was typing as I kept getting interrupted. When you mentioned the spiders, it reminded me of a drink I had there, with my cuz. SO funny for it to be called a "spider"...think you know what type of drink I mean? Yummy!

WooHoo...the group "Committed" from our city just won the "Sing Off" competition on NBC! Wow....they really sound good. Did anyone watch this show?

Mingle, Jingle, Tingle (oops not till I get my mojo back...LOL)!

Just found this thread....my fav drink is my dry red wine....cabernet, shiraz, merlot....sitting here finishing a glass...my 2nd...lately, I have a glass or 2 most nights...I remember when I was Dx, I was asked over and over about my drinking....I drank less before BC...but now I figure I'm going to do what I want to do.....not going to give up everything!!!!  Besides, in general, I eat healthy and live a healthy life as I did before BC.

Wahine.....my son leaves for Hawaii in 2 weeks...he is transfering to the U of Hawaii....his major is marine biology...Colorado has great mountains, but no water!!!!

Going to come back and visit on a regular basis.....

Welcome to the Hot Tatties Lounge, Karen! Glad to have you join us. The High School I went to was on the U of Hawaii campus, and part of the university. PE swim and golf classes were at the UH facilities. We had mostly student teachers from the U, so boy did we take advantage of that! What a perfect place to study marine biology! I hope he loves it there, right now it is not too hot. I lived in the valley straight back from UH, where it was cool.

Junie, Sorry for all the ruckus, but didn't know how else to get you out of the casino! Glad you are bringing Dorothy with you! Anyone else joining us????????

You all are so funny!  I love to come here and read !!

Company arriving in 3 days - so much to do !!!   However, I did make a run to the liquor store !  So now  I have everything and anything to drink !!  I am enjoying cranberry juice, pineapple rum, and a tiny bit of sparkling water !  All in a nice tall Christmas wine glass.  Does that count as 2 fruits ?

So I will be back to wine a bit as I am hustling around doing everything at the last minute.

Don't know about the fruit part, but am looking at the "11 grapes" in my glass.

Will eat a Christmas pear just in case.

Then nod off dreaming of Firemen.  Hmmmmmm.  That one might keep me awake.

Busy day tomorrow with puddings and work.  Remember that one???  Need to pay for this year's celebration.

Glad you found us Karen.  Waaaaaaaaay fun here.

Stanzie.....just pack a few accessories in case you end up wearing the same thing each day.  If you forget to pack something, they sell it wherever you are headed.  Not to worry.  I doubt that you will take too little.  I do one carry-on these days which also holds my laptop.  This can hold me for a week unless I need sports gear.  (Skis, not swimsuits.)

Karen.....my biggest change post treatment is that I have no time for inferior wine.

Decided today that I will spend Christmas Eve skiing.  The most wonderful thing ever.  Can't wait.  Will most likely get in some cycling Christmas Day prior to dinner with friends.  Life is good.

Hey, gang, look what I found:  Polka Vodka!

"Luxury unflavored vodka of highest quality made of rectified grain spirit and crystalline water. It has the characteristic mild taste. The transparent label features a colorful stained glass window from Lancut Castle. 37% alc/vol.,"

What can we put this in????????

NM, Seen it all now! Polka Vodka....so funny! How about some Krupnik?

    Krupnik

Honeyed vodka or krupnik, served hot or cold, is a favorite among Poles. And, since it's steeped in aromatic spices, less than top-shelf vodka will do just fine. Krupnik is the only alcoholic beverage served at the solemn wigilia or Christmas Eve dinner. No matter what temperature it's served at, krupnik warms the body from the inside out. Perfect for the holidays!

    Ingredients:
    1- 1/2 cup honey
    2/3 cup water
1 tsp. vanilla extract or 1 vanilla bean
    1/4 tsp. Nutmeg
    8 sticks cinnamon
    2 whole cloves
    3 strips lemon peel
    1 bottle vodka

    Directions:
Combine honey with the water, vanilla, spices and the lemon peel in a large saucepan. Bring this to a boil. Cover, and simmer for about 5 min. Add vodka, move from the heat. Serve hot or cold.

Polka Vodka...hmm.  Could have used that last night.  Kathy, your drink sounds pretty sweet with all that honey.  I will leave mine for you.  I know you have a sweet tooth.   NM, sorry I didn't answer your question, but I did have help with bathing and hair washing.  Very nice that you had someone come in.  My husband has always been very good to help me out.  I have a question for Chrissy.  I have an extreme spider phobia.  When you were talking about your laundry, were you saying that there were actual spiders in it?  I would Sh!t.  Makes me shudder to think about it.  I am just a whoos that way.  Ok, its back to the pool for me today.  No work and all play makes Jack and Coke not that damn dull.  Hi Dorothy!  Bean, I apologize for telling you to put that monkey back in the bushes, but at first glance I thought it was a voodoo doll!  Stanzie...bon voyage...and try to have fun.  Welcome to the lounge Karen.  Erica, nice to see you again.  Claire, I don't even want to think about your three way with JP.  Geeawd!  Junie, come visit me.  Lori, you must still be gone.  When are you getting home?  Happy Tuesday to all.  HD

OMG all these posts are soo good, so many laughs!! It's a hoppin Christmas week at the HTL...Where's AStorm I know she'll pop in soon with some zingers!!

HD- I took your advice. Took the monkey back but in the bushes this hedgehog grabbed my leg.

    hedgehog

Thot he was cute, but had to say, "not tonight dear, I have a hed ake." Also have now transferred my labels from PUKE 1, PUKE 2, PUKE 3 (don't need em no mo - yippee!) to GOO 1, GOO 2, GOO 3 and GOO 4.....counting down only 9 more polka dot goo days. Hope you are feeling well, I'm feeling gooey ha ha ha ! I took a bit of an anti-a-choo too that made my polka dots less red.

Wahine - where I grew up we did a lot of western square dancing as kids, it was so fun, and we did the hokey pokey a lot! Even at weddings!!! I never heard of the Japanese Bon Dance, sounds...well, way sophisticated, was there a guy in the corner callin' out "dosadoe???" We did The Virginia Reel a lot and it was so fun! We don't have TV so we didn't see that competition, we mostly watch stuff online, there are so many funny things we find. Love the Krupnik!!! So many good holiday dwinks 2day - yippeeeee!!! My cup runneth over!!!

    sq dance

DorothyK - enjoy your jack n coke, sorry you had a rough day, cheese cake with choc chips sound great!

Claire - I think the JP threesome does definitely give the mojo somekind of a workout! Have fun skiing! I'm doing like wahine and printing postage at home then just drop the s*** in mail boxes or leave on counter - the lines are growing long!

Stanzie - I'm so glad I'm not packing, it would be so confusing. I wish you luck and a great trip! Please do bring back funny stories!

Chrissy - I hear you on the fatigue...so strange...I'll be feeling okay one minute, then I just fall asleep. Take it easy and have fun fun fun!!!

Junie - yeah, glad you will join us at the pool, just wanna warn you to stay outa da bushes, you don't know what may be lurking back there, I keep finding the strangest creatures...he he he...haven't seen the pink elephant lately tho...hum will keep looking for my mojo...

Hi erica31 - that cranberry juice and pineapple rum sounds delish with sparking H2O and Christmas wine, delightful - another thing I'll have to twy, yes it counts for at least 3 fruits, cranberry, pineapple and grapes.

karen1956- oh I'm so excited another red wine connoisseur. Welcome and Merry Christmas!

NM- ha ha ha Polka Vodka - I gotta get some!!! That will be super fine for my Christmas polka dots!!!

OMG - now look who's in the bushes!!! That is not what I'm looking for!!!

    elf

Well, Titz n Butts Up and Happy Tuesday at the Bar!!! (grumble grumble...elves and hedgehogs and polka dot monkeys...grumble grumble)

LOL Beans! As usual, I end up REALLY laffing when I read your posts. Yeah, I liked the hokey pokey too....did that at the Skating Rink...seems like they played that song every session! The Japanese Bon Dance (if I remember correctly) was similar to a folk dance...seems like we went in and out a lot and maybe even changed partners? Toooooo long ago to remember any details...LOL. "Hed-ake" from the hedgehog....too funny! YAY only 9 more polka-dot goo days.

Can't believe people are STILL buying stuff...another trip to post office today to drop them off....even shipping them all priority mail, wonder if they will even arrive in time?

Lori, are ya still traveling? Pop in and let us know how you are doing!!! Hope you're having a GR8 time.

Girlzzzz, hope everyone is doing well. Still don't know what we are doing for Christmas; helping my parents every day with stuff, so guess I need to get things figured out. Want to go to the Christmas Eve service, and see parents and g'kids on Christmas Day; maybe have a rib roast or fillet mignon. My other DD and family won't be here till Jan 1 or 2, so will have a big dinner then! What are y'all doing? Oh, and in case Chrissy doesn't mention it, the "spider" I was referring to, is a soda float! Even is called that on the menu...only in OZ...lol! Love it!

    No Worries,

    Kathy

I too am polka-free. Maybe we would have been asked to dance the polka if we drank more Polka vodka? I think we did some Virginia Reel in P.E. class... Took an African dance class once just to make myself feel awkward. I remember going to aerobics class with friends...  I'd always be the one in the back of the room moving the wrong direction to a beat no one else could hear. My friends called it "ugly aerobics". When DD was very young I took her to a pre-ballet class and one of my old friends was there with her DD. My poor baby did this weird little half-skip-half-trip step and the instructor couldn't get her to skip properly so she resorted to just spinning in the back of the room. My friend reminded me about my ugly aerobics. Her DD was the star of the class, of course and mine took after her mother as well. These days I just drink so I can have an excuse not to dance.

Claire - good call on the FedEx. I went to the post office yesterday to pick up my mail and finally mail our Christmas cards (because it was the last day) and the line was wound around the inside of the main room and all the way around the PO boxes in the adjacent room. This is a really small town so I think half of us were at the PO.

Karen - welcome! No one asked me about "my drinking" when I was dx, but I read somewhere that there was a study... I also heard coffee was bad so when I went to the doc to talk about the dx and treatment, my DH told him I was planning to give up wine and coffee and he didn't think he'd be able to live with me. Doc said moderation always makes sense and I could cut back if I was worried, but not to start giving up things that give me pleasure. I take wine classes, have tasting parties and go tasting at wineries all the time. The doc asks me about wineries every time I see him. I did some research and found another study that showed women who drink a glass of red wine daily didn't have an increased risk and had better heart health. The lounge is about quality of life - for some of us that means we imbibe (actually) and others virtually.

Beans - I think there is mojo in mojito, no? I'd try that anyway. My DH makes a mean mojito and I found his recipe for the tenders...

1.25 oz Captain Morgan® Original spiced rum
    12 mint leaves
    1 tbsp sugar
    0.5 oz lime juice
    2 oz soda

Place mint leaves in bottom of glass. Add crushed ice, Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, sugar, and lime juice, and muddle. Add soda water and garnish with mint leaves.

Finally had my much-anticipated Black Russian, made with potato vodka, last Saturday evening and woke up on Sunday with a nasty cold.  I think it's time to switch vodka brands or switch favorite drinks...

My son made mulled wine and infused bourbon for Christmas -- can't wait to taste them.

Last Friday I had my second Dexa scan, 2 years into taking an AI.  Yesterday the nurse called to say that I have some bone loss in both hips, but it's mild and I can just continue Vitamin D, Calcium and weight bearing exercise.  That means more walking for me in the new year!

This PAR-TAY is getting away from me.  At the grindstone, so no skiing until Friday :(

End client wanted stuff ahead of schedule so re-arranging my end of December into January.  YIKES!!!

Bonnie.....sounds like basic good news.  You can do x-country skiing too.  Actually, better than cycling that way.  I am wondering how much walking a half mile each way yesterday with enough stuff to flatten a water buffalo counts???

I made the decision to drink wine post treatment based on the fact that the risk appears to be a zero-sum game.  That is, I have a greater risk of heart disease w/o the wine, and a greater risk of recurrence with wine.  I am indifferent as to where the risk comes from.  Looking back, I can't believe I considered giving up wine.  Just not worth it.  And the studies were done with women who didn't take AIs or Tamoxifen.

I have a couple more boxes that will go out next week.  One needs a pudding, and have to make that first.  The other is for someone who will be away.  So no more post office.  YAY!!!

Back to the grindstone.....but need a mojito first.  Or a good hot toddy.  CHairs!!!

Hi, I am still a bit messed up from last night and the hokey pokey or whatever it was.  I think the medication might be a factor also.  Be glad to get off the antibiotics too.  I am going straight to the pool and grabbing a pair of water wings.  Kathy, Junie, are you there?  I know Beans is tanning and everyone else is probably working.  In any event....I will be here ready to keep the tenders hoppin!  Hokey from Honky...

Hi Honky! Glad to see you are still at the pool! Yeah, those meds can sure mess up the system. When will you be off the anti-b's? Ohhhhhhhh looks like we BOTH are going to get foot massages at the same time! Since Pants and Jocks made us some extra drinks, they both showed up to massage our feet. Oh, heavenly.................

Beans, Love the Ho,Ho,Ho big fat man in the red suit pic! I know that wasn't REALLY Santa Claus, as the real one will be jogging through our neighborhood in 30 minutes. Or at least they SAID he was the real one?????? Usually he goes up and down every street...uphill....downhill...around bends, etc. With elves handing out candy canes. And it is the usually the same night as the luminaries. But they had to cancel the luminaries  last week cause of rain, so tonight he will just run from the clubhouse to the boat ramp and back...just a couple of miles each way. But it is such fun,as he waits till dark, and so many children (and young at heart like me!) cheer him on, along the way. I love it! Think I can convince him I really was good this year......or should I tell the truth? LOL.

Darn it, I had so many comments on the posts on the previous page. Oh well, I do think of all of you gals, and hope everyone is having a good evening!

Ho,Ho,Ho...Santa Claus is coming to town!  Cheers and no fears!

On my way to join you at the pool, HunkyD.   What a crazy day this has been!   This morning, DH announces that the little drip under the kitchen sink needs to be fixed.    So, I go get the phone book to find the plumber's phone number.   "Oh, I can fix this!" my DH bragged......man, I never saw so much water shoot straight across the kitchen for such a long time before he found a shut off valve!   Took every towel/blanket in the house to mop the water up.......did I dare mention that he run out to garage and get his wet vac?   oh no--time to keep my mouth shut!   After his second trip to the hardware store (remember--boonies, nearest one is an hour drive!!!) I was digging out the phone book looking for divorce attorneys!!!!   geeze what a mess my kitchen is!   He still needs a hardware trip again tomorrow morning but thinks he has most of it under control.....when all is said and done we will probably end up calling a plumber and it will cost twice as much for the plumber to undo the damage done today!    Did not make me a happy camper.    But, he did take time from plumbing duty to assemble my new vacuum cleaner......think it is going to be a good one.   I'll see how my cleaning girls like it tomorrow!!!!  LOL.....they'll probably quit as soon as they see the kitchen!

Ahhhhhh, this ice cold dog beer tastes mighty fine!   Gonna sit here by the pool and have a whole bunch more!   Think I'll sit here all night!!!   Skate's coming in a while to show us how to do the hokey pokey on roller skates!   I remember doing that on skates, too, at the skating rink when I was a kid--such fun!!!!

Hope everyone is ready for Christmas--bottomsup!!!!!
