how about drinking?

Hey, company finally. Kathy, I know santa will know you are a good girl. You don't need to convince him. Thanks for ordering the foot massage. Never had one from another man. Pants is saying "this little piggy went to market" Should I be offended? ROFLMAO! HonkyD

Junie, what a mess! I agree with you that it may cost MORE to fix up whatever damage he did. Esp at this time of year! Hope you can find a good plumber....should we find a pic of a real hunky one to help? At least then you could visualize the eye candy plumber, while the real one is bending over showing his butt crack! That always grosses me out. So sorry...hope you can get it all fixed quickly, and get everything washed up! Good idea to have Skate remind us of how to do the hokey pokey on skates....that WAS fun!
Soooo glad we walked down to the main road to wait for Santa. There was NO ONE else around! So even Santa and his elves were happy to see US. Must be discouraging to do all that, and have hardly anyone show up. I hope way down the road that there were more people. Cars were stopping though, and Santa was running over to the cars, with the elves handing out candy. Maybe I should have handed Santa a drink! Ho, ho, ho.....
Sure were good foot massages, weren't they, Honky! "This little piggy"....brings back memories!

erica - we use club soda.
bonnie - sorry bout yr bones. I'm beginning to suspect Al is an abuser. I'm on tamox and haven't tested yet but my bones are hurting with the cold weather lately. Had to have a jacuzzi and a hot toddy last night.
oh, beanie, wouldn't we all? LOL I do love your avatar!
Kathy - I thought I was the only one who did the visualization thing with the plumber. Mine is fat and sweaty but in my mind he looks more like Mike Delfino...

Hi girls, I am popping in for a few jd water mellon spikes, nice seeing you all here by the pool. Ahhhhhhh and wow, the lougne is busy again! Junie, so sorry to hear of your leak. If your home has alot of water damage, your insurance may pay for it. They will have the carpets dried if needed or if any flooring was damaged. I had to replace my floor a few years back but my damage was gradual -due to my dd using dish washing soap in the dish washer. I never made a claim but was sorry months later as my kitchen floor turned blue from water running under the tile and there was mold under it. I had to also replace the sub flooring. Good luck in getting the sink repaired and i hope no other damage!
HD, glad to see you here. I had fun doing the hokey pokey and it also reminded me of the roller rink as a kid. "put your right hand in, put it up to your mouth, do the hokey pokey and get drunk with all about"...."I am diong the hokey pokey and I tried to turn myself about".... but I fell. My skates are too big though, getting another pair.
Wahine n beans, hmmmm, I see Santa here too, how can he be everywhere? hmmmm, starting to rethink this. Oh, I bet he has helpermen. I saw a guy in a car today that looked like santa, I think he was the real one. I asked him for peace on earth, that is all I need.
To all I missed, I hope life is good, join us at the lounge, I think it may be non stop the way it is going now, just four days til Christmas. be good all, The real santa is watching. Cheers, peace on Earth, peace to you all and titty's up!! Got to go, DH is worried about my stumbling but will be back. Look for me in the pool, I need to get my float on. Amen.

Gail, Yeah Mike Delfino....he will do nicely....and since he portrays a plumber, that was a purrfect (I am purring!) choice.
Dorothy, We STILL don't have our floors fixed....from August! The ins co is finally giving us a bit more, but still only half of the contractors estimate. Hoping to order a box to see if we can get a close enough match and then just replace about 120 sf, instead of over 600sf. None of the samples are current, and the product ends up very different, so our choice now is to order a box and see if I have guessed at a good match! Even the Bruce rep told us it can take months to get new (current) samples.....WTF?????? I never would have thought we would still be in such a mess, 4 months later! Getting used to walking on subfloor, with runners on it. WAIT.....you are saying you found the real Santa driving a car....OMG what are we supposed to believe???LOL.
TITZ UP, Bottoms Up, Plumbers Pull Your Pants Up!

Junie..... and a warning to everyone. Just don't accept any offers from strangers offering to "inspect your plumbing". Well, take that back, perhaps the eye candy plumber. He can inspect away.
I can't even join the PAR-TAY yet. Still early in the evening here and I have to reread something I wrote prior to sending off. Plus get in my walk. Have been working my tail off.
I can't wait until I am past this work crunch. Looking forward to skiing again on Friday. Will have to cycle on my own on Christmas Day as no planned rides. That should work out too.
Some champagne please, Jocks. - Claire

Hi yáll, (just practising my southern accent here) really, truly, madly busy and getting busier as I'm spending too much time on these here boards! I'm just gonna hafta go MIA until I catch up....Waaaaa! Two more days after today and everyone will be here and expecting loads of food and a clean house......by the way, so do I................but I seem to be moving oh so slowly. Who was it that turned the speed dial down!!! now come on....fess up!
HD, when I said spiders I meant the spiders were living in my laudry but not any more. I know they will be back and when that happens, I'll just hafta evict them again. I'm a real mean landlord when it comes to spiders who stay around too long! I've never had a problem with spiders and neither do my grandchildren as I've taught them not to be afraid, but I've also taught them to have a very healthy respect for them as a lot of spiders here are poisonous. In particular the Red Back is deadly and that is the spider that is most prolific where I live. My grandsons catch them and keep them in jars, they catch insects for them so they can keep them alive. I really see alot of me in them as I used to do the same as a child.
Well now, to each and every one of you lovely ladies whom I have grown to love and concider part of my family, I wish a Joyous Christmas and a Safe, Healthy, Happy New Year. Please don't be concerned if I'm not around for a few days as I do really need to get some work done.
Peace, strength, love n hugs to all. chrissy

Hoping we all get the food cooked, the house cleaned, the presents wrapped, and can reflect on the real reason for the season.....that, and of course....a christmas drink!
Love and hugs to y'all,
Kathy

Went on a nice little hike with DH this morning and then finished baking Christmas cookies... We saw a woodpecker about 20 feet up a huge redwood and tons of banana slugs. Had a nice simple supper of roasted corn and poblano chowder with fresh crab and a very buttery chardonnay. I'm heading straight for the HTL jacuzzi so have Jocks bring me a drink. It's raining at my house and although I don't mind a little drizzle while I'm soaking, I do not like a down-pour in my very buteery chardonnay!

for the uninitiated, this is a banana slug
pretty, huh?

Gail, you read my mind! I was reading your post thinking WTH is a banana slug???? Gotta ask AStorm about it....then *kaboom* your very next post pictured it! NEVER ever seen one before....but sure looks like a banana, so its aptly named. WEIRD!!!! Thanx for the initiation...lol.
The walk sounds soooooo nice!

Thank you so much for the card wahine. I love Jacqui Lawson's cards. The most original and amazing.
I WILL get the puddings made and steamed.
Just had a lovely dinner with chardonnay. Safeway has a deal going, so need to go in and do a wine buy. Not wasteful, but frugal as sure I will consume.
Got off the report due in the AM so I can relax. YAY!!!
Bedtime soon, and I will dream of sugar plums. - Claire

Yes, Wahine, thanks for the card. Stopping at the lounge for a quick drink then off to work. Have a great day girls!!
Peace, love, comfort and joy to all!

Junie-Oh, dear, what a mess I'm picturing in my mind! This is one of the times I'm glad I never got married, no DIY impaired hubby messes to clean up.
Hunky-aren't foot massages wonderful? I've got a full body massage scheduled for this afternoon and am sooooo looking forward to it! My little self-indulgence. I'm glad you could make Santa's day, and I bet he would have been VERY HoHoHappy for a drink!AStorm-never heard of Mike Delfino, but I sure could get used to looking at him! As far as rain in your Chardonnay, isn't that what the little drink umbrellas are for? To protect our drinks?
DorothyK-should we assign you your own personal life guard? Hokey Pokey in the pool, sounds like a great exercise program to me!
Wahine-I swear insurance companies try to wait until we can't stand things anymore and fix them ourselves! Just not right when they work for US, not the other way around. And thanks for the card-it's absolutely wonderful!
Claire-you still amaze me with how much you can do. I still struggle to get a walk in twice a week! I've got to get more serious about exercise, but I'm so achey all the time. I know, I've got to quit whining and just do it. Maybe if I set up some rewards for myself? Hmmm, have to think on that.
Chrissy-here's wishing you energy to get the cleaning and cooking done. Turn on some lively music, turn it up loud, and let it carry you away!
DOTD--how about a Rusty Faucet?
2/3 oz (Add To Taste) Triple Sec
1/4 oz (Add To Taste) Blue Curacao
2/3 oz (Add To Taste) Citrus Vodka
1 splash (Juice of) Cranberry Juice
4 oz (Fill to Top) Orange Juice
1 splash (Juice of) Sour Mix0 -
Oh my, such fun reading this am (thru these rad bleary eyes)...doc said I'd get tired whoooo...ain't it a fact...more later gater...me need high caffeine latte with some Irish Whiskey in to start me up...

NM, Absolutely LOVE the visuals! Esp the lifeguard for Dorothy...think she might share him??? Ins pic was cute, as well as the others. SO APPROPRIATE for the DOTD...rusty faucet....LOL! To explain where AStorm got Mike Delfino from, he is a character who is a plumber (and hunk!) on Desperate Housewives! Even my DH loves that show...have you ever watched it?
My youngest g'dau is 6 today....so cute with red hair and big blue eyes....melts your heart....and, yes, she has her daddy wrapped around her little finger! Will all go and see her in a bit, but will bypass the party with a gazillion kids! Since her mom is her GS leader too, there will be lots of "young'uns" (for Chrissy's southern vocabulary).
Have a great day, all you wonderful galz! And Pants, puleez make us some Rusty Faucets.......
ChEARS to hunky looking plumbers!!!!!

Good morning. Sorry to all those going to work. Nice card Kathy. I too had never seen a banana slug. Not very purty little things are they? Yesterday I watched a movie I knew DH was not going to want to watch, Eat Pray Love. I was not impressed at all, but then again I have never been a Julia Roberts fan. Now , just looking at her "enhanced" upper lip disturbs me. Anyway, I was right, no way would DH have watched it. I am feeling a little bit like that banana slug. Once I get up and start moving...I will feel better. Hope everyone has a good day. HD

Just reading all this, and catching up.
- Made the deadline last night, so while I have stuff to do work-wise, the pressure is off.
- On exercise: Aspercreme is a wonderful thing. You just have to decide that you are doing it regardless and then do it. Right now, noticing the effects of skiing more than anything else. No surprise here though. This wasn't intentional, but I didn't allow enough time to do the long ski down on Sunday, so worked wonders for building up the intensity.
- Beans.....I needed a lot of caffiene towards the end of radiation. Also with sugar. I did "tea with a little something" each afternoon too.
- The rewards system works for me exercise-wise. But more when I do a walk with a stop for something like wine or Tarte Belle Helene. Pickings are slim on the mountain. Water, energy gel, and fruit/nut bars.
- I need to see Eat, Pray, Love. Julia Roberts needs to know there is a "natural lip plumper" out there and a lot more fun than injections.
- As for cleaning, if you do the "romantic look", they won't see the dirt. That said, it wouldn't hurt to exercise my vacuum cleaner.
I should treat myself to an Irish Coffee and shortbread later today. Have everything I need. Would be lovely to sip on one. Now back to work. - Claire

Heading out the door, but a quick check-in with my girlzzzz! HD, I didn't like Eat,Pray,Love either....was one of the free ones we could choose to watch on the flight, so I tried it and never could get interested in it. Even though I don't particularly like Julia Roberts, most of the films I had seen her in were pretty good, but NOT this one! I am sure there are lots of people out there who like it, though. Thank God there were lots of other new releases to choose from, and I watched several good ones, since the flt over from ATL was 10 hr 20 min, and the flt back was 8 hr 30 min. Yeah, I feel sorry for those having to be at work today, but also for you, with having to deal with recovery, and Beans and others going through tx. Best wishes to all and to all a good day!!!!

Love to all you girls....crash....

NM--perfect cartoon for me today!!! I stuck my head out of the bar this morning just long enough to learn that the THIRD trip to the hardware store was not successful!!! And, to see DH grab the phone book and CALL THE PLUMBER!!!! And of course, he can't come until tomorrow!!!!!!! So, no kitchen sink; no water in kitchen; no cooking--nothing to make dirty dishes!!! Trying to decide where to eat out tonight!!! AND, trying to keep a straight face and not say, "I told you so!!!!" Too funny, but sure glad we don't have company coming for Christmas or I'd be a total basket case.
Staying by the pool again today--think I'll have a few of those Rusty Faucets--sounds like the perfect DOTD for me.
Happy Hump Day! LOL--this is one of those days when I kind of wish I still had a job to escape to!!!

omgawd, mainer, your post cracked me the hail up! Everyone here is so funny. I just read from where i left off and am lmao here. I hope I do not wake anyone up but I am cracking up.
Hunky D, I hope you are feeling better. I will be back in the O.R. on Tuesday and hope it is easy for me. I have caught a touch of a cold, I had a feeling while walking into my sisters house for her party last week that I was walking into germs, uhhhh. I still feel like my te's are going to blow open and explode like a fire hydrant! I picture the saline squirting out of me and I will be shooting people with it sort of like that girl on Austin Powers. Oh baby!
Thank you all for keeping me laughing, beans and wahine, you girls are so funny. I needed this this morning. Well off to work I go. It has been a rough week. I had to decline a mortgage yesterday and my client was nice about it but it hurt me too. I wish I had thicker skin but it seems when it comes to nice people, I feel their pain.
Have a great day all, I will try to visit later after I get through this day.
Peace, love, comfort and joy to all!!

Well, good morning! Sorry I've been out so much, sleeping and all...been bizzzy with work and rads. Got marked for boosts yesterday and I have two rad tx's today so will be bizzzzy wi that. Thinking of you all with much love, and have enjoyed reading posts but haven't had time to respond. Plus got into a disagreeemnt with DH last night - oye vey! Well, here's to the eve of Christmas eve.
Cheers and butz up!!! ~Beans

Hi Girlzzzzzzzzzz,
Beans, Hope you woke up after that long winter's nap....such cute sleeping animals! You must be really T-I-R-E-D, and hope you slept well last night. Take it easy going through the tx..soooo hard to go through all that. If you need a drink, let me know and I will drink doubles again...anything to help one of my breast friends! Oops....was posting when you were....good luck with the "double" rads....I will def drink "double" for you! Arguments are soooo common at this time of year...so much stress. Hope things will be better today! Don't get too burnt!!!!
Junie, oh junie, what a mess!!! OMG, hard to imagine going through that....hope and pray it gets fixed a lot quicker than our floor damage here. Still haven't had time to get to another flooring place to have them come out and measure. Getting used to it....maybe I should draw purty pictures on the subfloor! Thank God this year you are not hosting company over Christmas!!!
The galaxy of lights last night was amazing....so much longer than we thought...just kept driving and driving through tons of fantastic displays. And we were lucky and just had to wait in lines from right inside the event, to get to the booths to pay. When we left, there were long lines of traffic in each direction on the street, waiting to get in, with cops directing traffic. Neighbor had brought over a fresh-baked chess pie to welcome my parents....neither of them has had that kind of pie before, so it was a real treat. Seems like so far, my dad is REALLY liking their place, esp the sunroom where you can watch all the ducks, canada geese, and herons come right up on the property, or drift by on the water.
Dorothy, Sorry to hear you will be under the knife on Tuesday....is this something to do with your implants? Hope you will feel ok enough to celebrate New Year's.....or do I have to drink doubles AGAIN????? LOL. You know we will be here to support you any way that we can, whether it is hopping on the bus and joining you, or drinking for you! Glad you get some laffing here....I love it too....sometimes laugh so loud and can't stop. Very nice place to escape from the crapola of the disease.
Is it really going to be Christmas in only TWO days???? Can hardly believe it. Guess I better start wrapping presents......never been this late before. Was so cute seeing my g'dau yesterday....she was dressed like a princess, with long pink gown and tiara. Cake was a princess castle, and of course, it was a princess party. Missed the party w/ all the little princesses, but that was ok! Didn't want to be in the middle of all that chaos....been there, done that! Have a great day everyone, and hope those recovering will be feeling MUCHO bettah!!!
Jingle Balls, Jingle Balls....(oops....faux pas....still singing the "Dick in a Box" jingle from SNL repeat the other night!)....Jingle all the waaaaaaay.............

In case any of you girls didn't see the SNL skit I referenced, here is the link (Justin Timberlake is in it too):

Oh, my, what fun in the Lounge last night! I've been up and out and shoveled out the stairs, walks, and back deck. Didn't take anywhere near as long as I thought it would, I'm beginning to think that I am underestimating my physical recovery!
Dorothy--I hope you have a better day. I can't imagine what it feels like to have to turn down someone nice for something they must want so badly. Were you able to give the person some advice about what to do so they will qualify later?
Claire--I think I've found my reward for exercising regularly--my massage therapists does 2 hour massages! I'm aiming for doing a workout 3 times a week for the month of January. If I can do that, then I get to schedule a 2 hour massage. I have no excuse for not exercising, I get free use of the fitness center at work, it's in the same building as my office and I have all the gear I need in a bag under my desk. I have a Wii with a couple of different workout discs. I can walk and shovel snow. Now I just need to DO it!
Let's see how my goal measures up: Specific? Yup, 3 workouts per week. Measurable? Yup. Attainable? Yup again. Relevant? Oh, yeah. Time Bound? For the month of January, that's pretty time bound. Guess I did OK!
Beanie--I take it you like kitties? The ones you posted are sooooo cute! They were all resting up for some action later:
Sounds like caffiene is the need of the day. How about a Captain's Coffee?
1 oz Coffee Liqueur
1 oz Spiced Rum
1 dash Bitters

I missed yesterday... had to work so I'll have to catch up now. Here goes -
Yes, I'm up for hokey pokey in the pool - definitely good exercise!
NM, I borrowed Mike Delfino from Desperate Housewives. He's a plumber on the show because, well, everything on that show is a little over the top. It was really hard to find a real sexy plumber.
Kathy - thanks for the card!
Hunkydory - I thought everyone but me liked Julia Roberts. I read the book for a book club and it is even less impressive than the movie. It was just so self-absorbed... but then it IS a diary of sorts. When my life falls apart I usually don't get to go to exotic places and pig out, meditate and have sex, so I really couldn't relate.
Claire - I think there is more to it than Aspercreme! I love to log in every day just to see what adventure you are up to.
Junie - congratulations on getting to the "let's just call the plumber" stage without too much destruction.
Beanie - howz yr mojo doin?
Finally went shopping yesterday in San Jose, which is just crazy. They had police directing traffic in the mall parking lot. Someone actually tried to steal a parking space from me. Right! It was actually kind of fun... had to wonder what it is about a 7 year old Honda with dents in every panel that makes people think I care if they hit me? Came home just exhausted and fell asleep without a Jacuzzi so this morning my bones are sore. DH said he would take me out to breakfast but he forgot so I'm having vodka for breakfast and researching for a new onco.
Pancake Breakfast Vodka Infusion
Put about 2 cups of dried oats in a large glass jar. Add about a liter of vodka (free choice here-If you wouldn't drink it straight, then don't infuse with it), 1 cinnamon stick, 1/4 cup honey, 1/4 cup good quality maple syrup. Shake it up once a day for about one week. Strain the oatmeal and cinnamon stick out of the vodka through cheese cloth. Add 1 teaspoon of good quality vanilla.
Chill and enjoy!
