KCUF TI! Spent 4 hrs on nmad enohp wi' fam ISSUES!!! Missed the un-fay at da artee-pay. N used up so many minutes on my pre-paid one-fay.
Tonight will have nacho cheez flavored Doritos with my shiraz - ran out of cheez wiz but still have lots of fiddle faddle.

Dorothy--that was GREAT! You are so talented!
Stanzie-- I have an uncovered back deck and an enclosed front sun porch. When the sun is out the sun porch passively heats the entire house! That is where I planned to sit and read, but the sun has gone away and it's chilly out there. I need to shovel the deck and sweep/wash the floor of the porch!
Claire--don't resist the AARP thing--I've found that almost everywhere you go I can get anywhere from 5 to 10% off through the AARP discount. I've gotten the discount at restaraunts, department stores, and lots of other places.

NM....maybe you can get a special deal on SNOW SHOVELS!!!!
Time to look up Jeff Danziger's cartoons. He did them for years for the Montpelier-Barre Times-Argus. The ones having to do with snow are hilarious.
I realize I missed a couple of birthdays, so need to write some funny notes of apology.
Beans.....sounds like you have your hands full.

Oh Beans, that sucks big time. So sorry you had to deal with the amilyfay issues. Real glad though that you have your sense of humor....DO NOT EVER LOSE THAT! Even the amilyfay cannot take that away from you.
Finished the little bit of outside painting I had to do, now to get ready and SHOP the Super Bowl away....and eat....and drink....all without having to watch the game...what could be bettah???

Tenders, bring Beans a six pack of dog beers! Sorry about the amily-fay issues and lost minutes. You do not need this and if ya need me to hurt someone, just send the bus.Enjoy your snacks tonight. I am looking forward to the super bowl half time show. I also like the black eyed peas...I gotta feeling, its gonna be a good night, its gonna be a good good night.....
Stanzie, very cool on your family history in AC. watching miss america was one of my fav childhood memories. Sorry about the family heirlooms. Greedy people suck! As for the city, If not for the casino district, that city would be trash. I really enjoy going through, seeing the old Conventon Center, and many beautiful historic buildings. And I have friends in Absecon, beautiful town. Funny, as we got towards AC, the snow was gone and it was neat seeing the new landscape! We got back home and still have about six inches on the groud. The ice on top is melting. Uhhh, countdown to spring is on.
Claire, thanks for putting things into perspective. I am having this fear of having my hand amputated or having this numbness for life. But when I read your post, I said "shut up Dorothy, stop your whining". You are so right that we have to enjoy each day. And I am happy to know that The Cure may be close. I pray and pray and pray for the cure.
I love all you girls too. Thanks for the kind words on my music. I am so rusty but really enjoy leaving this world. I have only played a few times since my BMX. It is stress on my sore body.
Enjoy your evening and I will try to join you. And to whomever thought of me with the dotd that had JD, love you more haha!!! Peace and love to all of you wonderful women. ♥♥ (one for each tit, now get them up).....TITS UP!!

Stanzie - I like a light white with cream sauces - Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, or Pinot Grigio as they cut through the richness of the cream (kind of like putting lemon juice in your Alfredo sauce). A really good Riesling or Gewurztraminer can be heavenly but may be too rich for the main dish - I love them with dessert or cheese.
Beanie - DH and I had guacamole and chips for dinner last night... some of those Doritos would have been good... got hungry later so we hung out at a wine bar and had a cheese platter with a couple of glasses of yummy wine but there was no Cheez Whiz - I think you've created a shortage! OMG it comes in a spray can!
Ok, Super Bowl time... almost. Gotta get some wine chilled and make some appies.

Can I ask you girls a question? Did you find that some of your friends pulled away or didnt even really acknowledge what is going on when you were first diagnosed? Some of my friends havent even called me to see if I am ok and I am feeling a bit hurt by that but maybe its just a normal reaction? I dont want to blow it out of propotion just wondered if any of you experienced this? thanks enjoy the superbowl to all of you watching me I will be doing laundry lol more exciting to me than football

Kymn, I can relate to what you are feeling with your friends and their reaction, or lack thereof. My best girlfriend of over 35 years really hurt me. When I told her I had breast cancer, she was so supportive. But once I started having issues, she seemed to disappear. She would email me weeks before a subsequent surgery that I told her I was having and told her the date, and wish me luck in a surgery that I had weeks before. I forgive her though as it is difficult for her to process that I am going through this and I think she is afraid to ask questions out of fear of what she would hear. I know her quite well and that is how she is. If I called her and said I need her now, she would come.
I am also working on laundry, have my sheets in the dryer and will ask DH to leave the game and help me make the bed. He will love that lol.
Again, I think your friends might be afraid to hear what you are going through. I have a friend at work who is a bc survivor and she also had the same issue. Try to forgive them, reach out and let them know you are hanging tough. Hang in there, sister, your real friends still love you.

Dropping in for a quick hello! Watching the game with DH and DS. It is a junk food bonanza here. I am trying to control myself. Dorothy, I so enjoyed your music this morning! Thank you for sharing. Just made me feel like I know you so much more. So nice! You have a talent that many can only dream of. Can't stay and chat or I will be reprimanded.....LOL! Stanzie, I know your dinner will be lovely. Beans...uckfa itfa. Hope you can forget about it for a bit. You have been through so much. Signing off...hd

Looks like it's nearing happy hour...who wants cheez whiz (omg in a spray can) on their wine glass??? Dorthy I will need to find your music, that sounds so cool. I appreciate you sisters understanding I have a huge headache from worrying over a big mess I accidentally stepped in.

Beans, the best cure for an emotional hangover w/ headace is likker and a few fukitols. Meet me at the fountain and we can pop a few then drink more. Love the WD's, I have three and the two of these look like two of mine, my other girl is black n tan. They are little demons at times but I can't help but love them. And a big toast to you for making the month on the train, you done ucking-fay great girl!! I was just thinking about you and here you are. Ok like HD, I have to get back to DH or I will be scolded all night.
HD, I can give you and the others more videos but don't like to be "showy". I talk in some of mine and get silly. I am notorious for getting drunk and making videos of me and sometimes DH and we laugh. DH and I have a great thing in that we laugh so much together at the simplist things. He has been an ace throughout my BC joureny but he is a pain in my arse about many things. It think I will keep him, for tonight anyway haha. Back to him, for real this time! Titz up, aim high, in the sky!!!!
Now these are some tits!!! Cheers!! Dwink up loungette's......

I want cheeze whiz! I want happy hour! I want some decent superbowl commercials. Oh well, I am a wanter and what I can only make me stronger! I am drinking Junies share of beer too! Beans, that is a mess the pooches are in. Similar to my kitchen right now. Dorothy, we certainly cannot ever get too crazy here right? When I can laugh...I absolutely cherish it so bring it on! Hope everyone is enjoying their evening. To all that have to check in to work tomorrow...hope you all feel as good as I won't. LOL! Now, let happy hour continue. Time for half time! Hugs.....

Dorothy.....depends on who "scores". If DH, then he won't mind helping.
Only got soaked for the last quarter of my ride. Feel wonderful now.
Beans....loving the innocent look. I have a friend with a dog I have dubbed the "Sweet Perp". He trashed her knee about a year ago. But such a great guy.
Kymm.....both my sisters have been useless throughout this experience. And then a friend tried to trash my professional reputation just as I was starting radiation. Nice, huh!!! Most people were great thougth. I was extra nice this past Christmas to those who hung in with me.
Beans....didn't you figure out that with all those "little people" you were in big trouble. Too many brains to figure out new and exciting ways to "perp". My father noted that with the two collies my parents had. "What one doesn't think of, the other one will."
As for what gets eaten today, I was reflecting as my did my ride that this day really is about junk food as much as the game.......

uh, I just lost another post.
Claire, DH did assist with the sheets. He is glued to football and I snuck away. You are funny! Someone just scored, I think Pittsburgh. Glad ya got your ride on but sorry you got wet. Hey, what's for dinner? We actually ate healthy cuz we pig faced at the casino.
HD, sorry you are having pain. I wish we could take some away and distrubute it for you. I go to chapel, pray for you and my girls then come and see who wants to drink. I am wining "I don't wanna go to work tomorrow"......Let's have beer and shots of JD? HD, anyone???
0 -
You girlz R so great!! Thanks for sharing a hump a cheez whiz with me. Emotional pain - fooey; physical pain - hooey...all goes away with the right amount of likker!!!
P.S. Those are some titz!!! Titz Up!!!

Go Pack! I'm a Steelers fan but since GB beat the Bears I had to root for them. Glad they won! Celebrating at home by myself (well, Avery is here but sleeping!) with some red wine. Have my own issues just don't post here but all is well. Glad all you gurlz are home (?) and safe from the elements. Cheers and titz up and all that!

Stanzie.....missed your question. With Crab Imperiale, I would serve a Sauvignon Blanc (also called Fume Blanc) or a Pinot Gris (also called Pinot Griggio). You need the flintiness to cut the richness. You can get decent in Washington State for less than $10 per bottle at Safeway.
In the East, another option I would go for is a cheap white Burgundy like a La Foret. Chardonnay, but lemony, not oaky. I hesitate to recommend chardonnay as so many are oaky which would NOT go with this meal.
Hope all of you had a wonderful time. - Claire

NEWS FLASH.....new drink for cyclists.
Especially suited for late registrants for some desirable event, and hence did not get in. From the cycling club email.......
It's called "The Registration©": 3 shots each of vodka, tequila, Jack Daniels, Captain Morgan's rum, Canadian Club, and Ouzo. Mixed with Gatorade. Served in a souvenir bike bottle. $99 for members ($119 for non members). After drinking this, you won't give a rip that you didn't get an RSVP registration! (and may not remember)
Think I will go back to WINE after reading this...... - Claire
0 -
Claire....that is some drink!!! if you can stand up after drinking it, you deserve to get registered!!
Super Bowl commercials not so good this year...Went to a bowl party for a bit and ate some popcorn and now regret it...had to take an extra Nexium....I guess I have to go back to not eating popcorn.....it was real popcorn, not the microwave kettle corn I've been eating.....
Sure wish it was a long week-end....not in the mood to go to work tomorrow....but duty calls!!!!
Who ever asked about what wine to serve with a meal...my DH either drinks beer or chardonnay....I only drink red wine...cabernet, shiraz, merlot and other similar wines, so the dolt that I am would have both chardonnay and one of my red wines to offer no matter what the meal....I don't cook rich creamy food so that might be okay....
Hugs to all....

ok another question do you loose weight or put on weight during chemo treatments? do you get all bloated up? I just want to prepare myself. thanks
0 -
Kymm.....I lost a healthy amount as had porked up prior to diagnosis. I have kept it off. But I exercised throughout. Had some very minor swelling. As in I needed my loose-fitting shoes.
But nothing worse than that, and no more than if I do a major endurance event and fill myself with electrolytes.
Other women gain weight. The most important thing is to stay hydrated and protect your liver and kidneys. I was chugging 2x the liquid I normally drink. No problem as craved it.
Good luck. We all get through this, but certainly no fun. - Claire
0 -
Thanks Claire, I assume by staying hydrated you dont mean rye lol. That seems to be my sleeping pill these days but i know those days are numbered .I recently dropped 25lbs and will be so sad if it all comes back on0
-
Kymn - i have noticed the same thing with a few friends and haven't understood it either. Someday, perhaps I will talk with them about it, but for now, it does sting.
As for gaining weight - I was one who did. I had lost 35 lbs. just prior to diagnosis, maintained that through the surgery, etc. but with chemo, I acquired 14 of these back. In fairness, I will say that I only wanted comfort food.

There seems to be an epidemic of lost posts on the boards recently, wonder what that's all about.
I'm not a sports fan, so all this Superbowl talk has me wondering "superbowl full of what?" From what I've gathered, the 'what' is junk food! We all need our excuses for an occasional junk food pig out.
Kymm--it's most common for women to gain weight while getting chemo for bc, due to the specific drugs used and the drugs used to manage the chemo side effects. Also, chemo and/or hormone blocker therapy causes menopause, and most women gain weight during 'the change.' But there are a lucky few who lose!
Loved the Registration drink! Definately our DOTD for today!

Oh N.M. - Those are just fabulous!!! I could use that computer savy dog and the ultra thin woman is a hoot. Remember that old show Frazier where you never saw the wife of his brother and she was supposedly so thin they would lose her sometimes. Maris, was her name I think! Very Funny.
Well, drove by the house next door to my friends with all the fall leaves stuck on their trees - looks really fabulous. They film at their house tomorrow but they leave to go out of town at 6:45am. The husband is in a select group with the Symphony Chorus who are doing a special concert at Carnegie Hall. So, never met the movie guy or never talked to him on the phone so not really sure how I'm supposed to check on things while they are out of town. As they will be really busy and so no clue how I'm supposed to do this. I had hoped I could pop over today when they are setting up but she said she was going to be in and out so much it won't work. Also my friend is coming to take pictures here for her contest so busy day all around Sure wish my leg hadn't been hurting so much last night - didn't fall asleep till after 2:00am and I've been up since 4:00am.
I know not sleeping does not help with losing weight or exercise as I'm so tired it is all I can do to move from one place to another......
0 -
Well as usual, it will be a quick post.
Really enjoyed your videos Dort, I watched the others too! Stanzie, I just can't imagine putting fake fall leaves on a tree. Can you get a picture? I'l post it! Kymn, I think what happens to people/friends, is that they don't know what to say or do, so they choose to say and do nothing. I did not have that problem, all of my friends were very supportive. I always tried to make people feel comfortable around me, and talked about my cancer. Hoping that they wouldn't be affraid to talk about it. Make sense? As for the weight gain, I did not gain any during treatment, only after I started the Arimidex..........then I gained 20 lbs!
Not a football fan, or sports fan of any kind, so we just did our normal cleaning and working for the weekend. I heard the half time was terrible!
Hope everyone has a great week!

Good morning ladies, well woke up to about 15 cm of the white stuff again and according to environment canada we have 20 more to come today in our area reallly tired of ol man winter.
Thanks for responding to my questions, I am feeling discouraged that now I am not only going to loose my hair but put on weight too......DAMN BC. I just need to whine it isnt fair it isnt fair it isnt fair!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok well glad I got that out. Thnk I might go wig shopping this week to see what I like I have no idea how much these things are sure hopeing its covered under my medical I think it will be but maybe I better find that out first.
Have a good monday all
Kymn

Hi Kymn - I sent you a PM...I lost weight on chemo but didn't lose my hair, it thinned a bit.

Morning Girlzzz! Stanzie I must have gotten your missing sleep as didn't get up till 9:30! THen of course phone calls one after another b4 I had my coffee, so could barely think. Yeah, I agree with Lori, it would be neat to see a pic of the trees with the fake leaves! Prob looks pretty real though as I guess they do that a lot for the movies.
Kymn, You got a lot of answers, but I will toss in my 2 cents (or has inflation raised that?). Way, way back when my late DH was in the hospital from a massive heart attack, I ran into someone I knew in his grocery store who told me they just had a friend die from a heart attack. Well, I didn't even want to hear that, as I felt if I heard that, then it might jinx my DH, and he would die too. Well, he did end up dying after that open heart surgery, though I do realize my hearing about the other person did not at all cause that. My point is, sometimes people do not want to hear of someone's disease as then they feel more susecptible to getting it too. Does that make sense? Like maybe they aren't trying to be unsupportive, but by being too close to the disease, it might "jinx" them and they would get it too. Well, thats IMHO. My horrid sister NEVER mentioned my bc, never called, never wrote, and only mentioned it this year when I saw her....and I got bc almost 3 yrs ago, if thats any consolation. But like Lori, I made light of my disease, and when anyone asked about how I was doing, I was very positive and didn't really go into details. So on one hand, it was good as everyone still seemed the same to me, but on the other hand I prob would have enjoyed having SOME sympathy....LOL.
Dorothy, I would love to see the other videos you made. Is there a way to search for them, or will you share the links? Like HunkyD mentioned, it made me feel like I know you better. Wish we all could get together! That big boobs pic is hilarious....what worried me is if she has a heart attack, how could anyone do CPR on her??? That would be hard to do ANYTHING (except XXX rated movies) with those big jugs. Yuck!
NM, Those pics were hilarious....right on the money! Hope you don't have to shovel any more snow today.
Beans, Surely those were not your furbabies doing that damage? Hoping you just found those pics on the internet. You mentioned using your minutes....is that a tracfone? I have the unlimited cell phone, but my DH has the tracfone for emergencies, and we got the "double minutes" when we bought it, plus I always search for free minutes codes b4 buying more minutes for it, so at least we get xtra minutes that way. I can call OZ with the tracfone, but not with my good cell phone...go figure! Hope you are feeling bettah about the amilyfay situation.
Tomorrow night my mom and I will go to a painting class....Monet's waterlilies.....but a very simplified version. My mom is an artist and I have some of her wonderful pieces, but she hasn't painted for a few yrs now, and I am hoping this will get her "jump started" to want to get back to her regular painting again. She was so good! It will be a fun night...dinner out first, then painting, while drinking wine. WooHoo! They do different paintings every night, and ours has been sold out, w/ waiting list, even though they fit 50 per class. Looking forward to it!
Hope everyone made it to work ok today. I am feeling lazy, but really need to get moving. You think maybe some likker would help? OR maybe Dorothy would let me hide out in her "girl cave"! Have a good Monday everyone!!!!
Huggies,
Kathy

Wahine - going back a bit, I was laughing at your story of the pillow under your feet and how it got annoying...and the roasted duck that should have been flaming duck, so funny. That is so neat you have made a good life for the cockatiel, what a nice story! Crud and fooey about the glass breaking, hope you get a new piece and get those scrolls up, sounds so pretty. Good idea to tell Kymn about the bus, she might not know we can load up the bus (and get loaded) and go with her to the hospital, that's what got me through all that ap-cray! You are right, those weren't my messy furbabies, just depicting the mess I feel I'm in. I have to let it go as too much worry will make me stress out and get sick again. Yes, I have a tracfone and it's not fancy, but sound is good and coverage is good. Nice to hear your mom might get the painting bug again, I've always wanted to paint, but haven't made the time for it, maybe someday.
Stanzie - I really enjoyed your pics over the weekend...loved the cats by the heater vent! I'm sorry you had to battle with your daughter over what to wear, it must be so difficult with her getting almost to the terrible teens.
NM - Funny about how to juice a ginger and beat a cucumber...I think AStorm and wahine's idea to take Sadie to the vet for nail clipping is good, or the groomer...we had to trim our guinea pig's nails and in the beginning I had the vet do it, then DH and I got some good clippers and developed a team method...squirmy little critters!
Guinea pigs have four toes on the front feet and three on the back and they have to be trimmed regularly. They are also coprophagic, but I won't put up any pictures of that - ha ha ha! OMG, I can't believe they tried to deliver the laptop while you were gone, that would be my luck! Sure hope you get it SOOOON.
AStorm - love the WD on the heater vent pic, so cute!! And the beaten cuc...oh my! oh my!
Kymn - I can totally understand how awful it is to have to go back for more sugery...the waiting is awful, just hang in there!! It will get better!!
HD- hope you enjoyed your junk food bonanza and that your week will be fantastic! Hope your DH is feeling better and big hopes you don't catch it too.
Claire - I missed the weiner schnitzel, one of my favs, I make it with chicken on special occasions, so good if it's done right. That is interesting about brain cancer, it's great how much medicine can do to give more time and better quality. I am so happy to have bought some more time with my tx and living well is great! So you're birthday is this Wednesday?? HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!! What kind of wine would you like to celebrate?
Dorthy - that is so fun your DH won enuf to cover some of the fun...our first night at a casino my DH dropped about $2 in quarters and won $300 so I grabbed him and made him leave...it covered all of my losses at the other casinos and then some. I am sorry to hear about your hand and hope it is getting better. I found your video and wanted to say thanks so much for sharing that, it is so neat to learn more about you. Your music is so beautiful, so enjoyable, thanks!! Thanks also for the likker and fucitols, much better today. I really appreciate your encouragement about the Tammy Train, except for hot flashes and hot/cold all night it's just no problem like you said.
Goldie - thanks for putting in writing about how a lot of us have chemo brain and can't remember stuff...do you remember writing that? That Juicy Fruit Cocktail looks beautiful!
Karen - I played viola, piano and tried the flute a bit...I liked drawing better so spent more time on that, but I love listening to music.
RCG - nice to see you pop in here!
Jaybird - you too, nice to see you pop in!
Well, back to working on taxes - yucko!! Hope you all have a wonderful Monday (yucko!). Luv n hugs!!
