how about drinking?

Beans....so many wonderful wines, so little time! I am still deciding, but will most likely do whatever is on offer at the Wine Bar that night.
I do schnitzl with either pork or veal, and veal was on sale, and sliced perfectly. I had both Saturday night and last night. With some Riesling. Think seafood for tonight as working up to Wednesday (crab and shrimp casserole?). I am doing the "pre" celebration at Cafe Campagne. Haven't been there for a while, so will start the evening with steak tartare. I can make myself, but they do it better.
I am thrilled to see everyone out doing great stuff (well not taxes, but we all have to do them). But that just underscores that unfortunately breast cancer doesn't give us a pass on not doing the basics in life. Certainly helps sharpen the focus as to what's really important.
I was just talking to my former business partner who wants to give me a spa day for my birthday, and I need time to get there for my massage. The problem is that when I do get free time, I am usually out doing something on my bicycle or skis. I didn't dare ask for an all-expenses paid visit to the wine bar for a month!!!
Back to work, as didn't do any yesterday, so not where I need to be. - Claire

Kymm - you might do just great with your weight! I think I stress ate - and I bought 3 wigs! Really cutes ones from Raquel Welch - I figured I was saving money from not coloring or cutting my hair every six weeks - It is hard and it is not fair - but honestly in retrospect it was not that bad - you do find out who your friends are - and I think I respect life and my body much more now - I'm the biggest baby in the world - seriously - and I came through it and look and feel almost normal. Please give yourself as many breaks as you need!!!!0
-
Claire - I think that's great if you take time for a massage and your biz partner gives you a spa. I'm always jealous when I hear of people taking time for this...like you I have trouble fitting it in as I'm not that great at relaxing...I used to enjoy baths at home, then with all the BC BS (surgery, radiation, etc.) I just haven't done more than showers trying to keep too much heat and water pressure off my skin...I think I'm supposed to stay out of hot tubs for a while after rads, but I think fairly soon I should be able to enjoy a nice bubble bath at home even. I hope you do a lot of pre-celebrating and then CELEBRATE!!
ellie - I think the worst part were the emotions, chemo sucked but it wasn't that horrible once it was over. I was able to keep up jogging and cooking and working all through it. Just needed more naps. I'm glad you are through it and doing so well!
Cheers!!!

Beans..... I was supposed not to take baths during/immediately after rads either. I ended up cutting a deal with my NP. That was to soak every part of my body except for the affected part. I just had to as was out there training and getting chilled to the bone.
She is a runner and now a bath taker.
Even yesterday afternoon when I got home soaking wet. I put hair color on my hair and rinsed off in the shower. Then, I was still cold and ached from the waist down, so did some bath time too. Felt ever so much better afterwards.
(Felt even better after a glass of wine.) - Claire

Oh boy Ellie - it is so fun to see your picture, you look fantastic and your sons are so handsome...thanks for posting.
Claire - I know that cold to the bone feeling, in this damp climate it seems to feel colder than when I'm in the snow. I think it's nearing wine time!

OK, guys, bring me drinks. Any drinks, just as long as they are large and potent. I reported my Rad Onc to the state medical board last spring, found out this evening that the hearing is tomorrow. I never got a notice so I could attend, and can't make arrangements to get tomorrow off at this late date/time. So he gets to defend himself, I don't get to tell them my point of view. Life absolutely sucks. I want to get drunk, go to bed and never wake up. My last chance to get answers is gone, thanks to a lost letter. Life sucks. Out loud.
0 -
Oh NM I am so so sorry to hear of this...why didn't you get a notice? lost letter? sounds like they sent something but you didn't get it. this seems totally unjust in that how can there be a hearing and not hear your points?? Life does suck sometimes, this seems so unfair. Are you sure there's no way to get the time off tomorrow? You do need some likker quick! Here's a napkin while I find something really strong...
0 -
Absolutely no way. Even if I got the time off I don't know what time or where the hearing is. I'm going to write another letter to the medical board asking for a chance to speak to them, but later after I've calmed down. Right now I am sooooo upset and pissed off that I doubt I could put together anything reasonable in a formal letter. I WILL find a way to make that doctor's life miserable until I get my answers, I promise you.
0 -
NM - That sounds like the next best thing. If there is no way to be there and you didn't get notice in time to make arrangements, to write a letter explaining seems like I good idea. There has to be a way to voice your opinion or what's the point of having a hearing. Sounds like a very annoying mistake and I'm so sorry this has happened. I would be fuming too and write a sizzling letter!

Really sucks big time, NM! Soooo sorry to hear they didn't even notify you. You mentioned writing a letter, and I wondered (that is IF you find out the time and place) if someone could go in your place and read your letter? OR if there was some way you could deliver it to the courthouse so the judge could see it? I will help you dwink and dwown your sowwows. You have a right to be pissed, and I do hope you make his life miserable. I should have gone after the dr that caused my late DH's death, but I was grieving toooo much and had 2 teenagers and a farm to care for. I figured with us 3 gals being alone in the woods, he could easily send someone out to eliminate me, so I was too chicken and too worn out to do anything. And no family in the state either, so I didn't do anything. But I do regret that, as I didn't want anyone else to go through what I did. So I really applaud you for sticking with it and following through, as best you can.
Ellie, You are beautiful! And your sons are very handsome....the one on the right even reminds me of Mario Lopez. Oh, you better keep us cougars away from them... j/k! Very nice family, and thank you for sharing the pic with us.
Galz, re the hot tub issue. My BS and my PS both told me not to ever go into a hot tub again. Maybe cause of some nodes being taken out???? Not sure why they told me that, but now we just put cold water in our hot tub in the summer and let the kids play in it....LOL. They really scared me about ever doing that again. What have you all heard from your drs about this??? Would love to hear what everyone was told.
Beans, you are such a dear! So concerned about everyone, and such a fun gal! I love how you respond to everyone, but alas, my memory must not be as good as yours. I usually can just remember the past couple of posts b4 I write! Oh, and I had them cut a new piece of glass today, and went in with my hands over my face, I was so embarrased! Its 44" long too, so I went directly to my mom's to deliver it safely. That first scroll she framed is gorgeous! The grasscloth mat looks so awesome. Since you have a tracfone, do you search for codes b4 renewing your minutes? And did you know you can call internationally with it? Just think, you could call Chrissy!!!
Speaking of Chrissy, I hope you are doing okay! Did your SIL and family get to see if anything was left of their house? What devastation; I hope they are doing okay.
I know I am forgetting a lot. But thats par for the course. Claire, are you going to show up if we do a big PARTAY here on Wed night for your birthday??? Gotta get you away from that wine bar...LOL. OR you could celebrate at our wine bar here.
PAU HANA time, girlz! GIGGLES, TITZ UP, ChEARS!
Kathy

where do I start, you girls been spending alot of time at the bar for a monday. I am stopping in for a few, I will sit on my fav barstool.
NM, I will send the tenders to give you a message. Try not to stress too much cuz there ain't anything you can do about the situation, you know? That does suck and is so unfair. I hope you are able to let the courts know what this doctor did. I had an issue with my PS and fired his ass. I can tell you what I did - I did not have the balls to write a letter or try to take him down cuz his lawyers are way bigger than mine. But I confess that on my first day back to work, I had a great time going into doctor web sites and finding where I could give him an online eval, I gave him zero's across the board and did it several times using different email addresses. It made me feel better to bash him and I was able to drop his scores by a point or two. Hah, take that ass. See, I am angry too at this doc and the shit he put me through. I am sure your issues w/ the doc are bigger than mine. All I can do is send the tenders, give ya beers and a big fat hug. Feel better. Breathe, smile then breathe again.
Beans, I got approval from my onc to use One A Day Menapause and it really helps with the hot flashes. I was also taking bee pollen but ran out of them. My se's from Tammy are so minimal. I am counting down, four years and eight months to go! wooo hoo!
Ok, I will be back. Hitting send before I loose this. Cheers, my friends. Save me a barstool !!

dorthy - ooops again, I bumped into your post..sorry..

NM - I'm so so so sorry!!! That is so horrible. I just hate it when things like that happen and you are stuck not being able to do anything. You are so smart and so together I'm sure when you are able to write a letter they will listen to you. I had a doctor a long time ago that I should have sued but I just wasn't up to it physically or mentally and it still turns my stomach when I think about her and I regret she is still in practice and hurting other people. I had nightmares for years. I can hear your anger and I hope you are able to get your answers and you are able to get some satisfaction. So sorry!

NM - Just remember that you have done a service to other patients by reporting that rad onco! Even if you can't be there to help nail him, at least you have brought awareness - to him and the clinic and the medical board. We'll all have a Dragon's Revenge on your behalf! Did you every watch the movie, "The Witches of Eastwich?" That guy has some bad juju out in the universe...
Beanie - I love the WD photo. DD wanted to dress WD like a wiener for Halloween last year and I thought of using real bread but I was afraid the other dogs would try to eat him... he looks like a cocktail hors d'oeuvre even without the bread! Look what I found!
Have I said how awesome you ladies are lately? Before bc, I was really afraid of chemo. My SIL (belated, sadly) had chemo for ovarian cancer and this was really my only example. Have I said how awesome you ladies are lately? Before bc, I was really afraid of chemo. My SIL (belated, sadly) had chemo for ovarian cancer and this was really my only example. Just knowing you and hearing about your experiences has made me less afraid. If I ever have to do it, I know you'd have my back. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!

NM....I'm so sorry that you can't make it to the hearing...you're right, that just s****!! Did you have a drink or two? If not, I had 2 nice glasses of red wine with my homemade pizza....and enjoying a bit of a buzz
more snow predicted for tomorrow plus single digit weather...supposed to start snowing in the next couple hours and last past rush hour....hoping the weather prediction is wrong.....

***yawning*** ....... G'morning girlz! Slept about 2 hrs last night; up since 2 am, but NO ONE was here at the lounge......been verrrrry quiet. On my 2nd TALL cup of joe. Should I add kahula to that? NM, Hope you were able to sleep last night, as you were so upset about not being able to be at the hearing. We all know you will write a very impressive letter, and hope that rad onc gets kicked to the curb!
Still yawining,
Sleepyhead Kathy

NM, so sorry for all of that! Hoping and praying that Karma will come around on this one! I was going to suggest the same thing that Dorothy did about writing a review online. I know it's not much, but maybe you will get some sort of satisfaction from it. And maybe someone else will complain, maybe something will happen, it will just be another way, from another person. But do write that letter. I don't recall what happened, and maybe you didn't share. But it's certainly obvious how upset it has made you. I am also sending one of those Scorpions to put up his pant leg...no wait, how about 2 of those!
Kathy, I'm with you on the sleep this morning, or the lack there of. But I got a little more than you 4-5 hours. As for a hot tub, I would not get in one only because I KNOW it would just bring on a hot flash. We should have a few of these tonight.
A Banana Slip - a layered shooter, creamy and delicious. This decorative cocktail should make you sleep easier! Enjoy our Banana Slip Cocktail.
7⁄8 fl oz banana liqueur 7⁄8 fl oz baileys 1 teaspoon 1 shooter glassFirstly take a shooter glass, and half fill it with banana liqueur. Using the back of a teaspoon, hold it to the edge of the glass. Then pour baileys over the spoon until the glass is nearly full - a splash or 25 millilitres. Your cocktail is now ready to be served.
.....and the banana peels thrown on the floor in front of that sorry excuse of a doctor as he walks into court.
And these just looked too pretty to pass up. Think this will be my breakfast!

Doris is really NM.

LOL Lori! Very funny pics, and appropriate! Sawwy that you didn't get enuf sleep either....will be a tiring day! LOVE that cocktail....would have never thought of banana liqueur and baileys but I bet it would be YUMMY. Good idea....we can all peel a banana and throw it in front of that baaaaaad doctor....he deserves much worse than that, but thats a start!
Slippin on a Banana!

Goldie - so funny!! great pics and cartoons! And your new photo looks great! I was working on a new photo too.
AStorm - LOL using bread on WD costume! Probly woulda been dangerous for the little WD! Thanks for the Cheeze Balls!!! I'm going shopping today and will put that as #1 priority on my list!! Do you think they will go better with my Ruby Cabernet or with Boone's Farm's "fuzzy navel"? hahahahahahahah
0 -
That "fuzzy navel" pic is so funny, Beans! However, now I will have a different pic in my mind the next time I have that drink.....lol. It will have a more literal meaning. Want to wish everyone a Happy Tuesday......

wow oh my gosh can you ladies chat!! I missed one day was just having a little pity party with myself and my rye last night but Im back and ready to fight. I will remind you when you girls need to load up the bus for my next surgery its next week. But if you are anything like me unless I read it the day before my brain stores it in that place I wont forget.....you know just like the one where all your important things are in your house ....lol if I ever find the one in my brain I am going to hit the jack pot at home.
So Beans and Kathy did I read correctly and please please please tell me I did not read correctly that we are not allowed to have hot tubs anymore?????? My DH and I have date night in our hot tub at least 3 times a week. OMG that will absolutley break my heart if this is true. DAMN BC got to mess with every part of my life!
NM I dont know your whole story but I sure am feeling your anger...hope you find someway to get the justice you need so you can have some closer on this.
Ellie I love your picture such handsome boys and you look beautiful. I need to fiugre out how to post things on the site like you girls do .
Well I am at work so should go have a great tuesday mabye I will see you all tonight for a drink
Kymn
PS whoever said Beans was the best I just wanted to chime in and say I wholeheartedly agree.

Kymm......"no hot tub" isn't forever. Meanwhile, you can challenge DH to find other ways to "tickle your fancy". I am sure he will rise to the occasion.
I took baths throughout other than immediately after surgery as I had a drain. I also exercised throughout including walking two miles the day after surgery. I resumed weights/crunches when the drain came out. Got the sign off of my medical team before I did any of this though.
Main Squeeze made sure I felt sexy and desired. I don't think he had to work too hard at getting himself to feel that way.
I need to get back to work as got 1 of 3 rewrites out the door about an hour ago. On to 2 of 3. - Claire

hahahah Happy Tuesday!!! - great pic Wahine!
Kymn, Claire - now I had to re-read my discharge instructions after rads...I'm reading no hot tub or spa soaking for at least 2 months after skin heals. It also says to resume normal activies and, nudge-nudge-wink-wink intimate contact as long as you get plenty of rest... hahahahah so I guess I can take a bath in another month or so, hahahah

LOL at the latest pic Beans! Kymn, All doctors seem to have different things to tell us that we can/cannot do. Both of my drs said "no hot tubs" for me, forever, and since we moved and had to put ours out in the yard, we hadn't been using it much anyway. When it was in the sunroom at our prev house, we used it a lot. I know they didn't want me to ever go in a public hot tub anymore, and I just thought it also meant not at home, because of the water being so hot. BUT you should ask your doctor, or do research on this, because it might be just fine. Since I like and trust my drs, I tend to listen to what they tell me, but like I said, drs seem to think different things are important. My drs also had us dress my drains 3x a day and put antibiotic cream on each time, plus when I had my fills my PS had me take an antibiotic b4 each fill. So they might just be xtra cautious. I don't want to worry you, since it may be okay for you! Sounds like you and your DH have some fun date nights.....
Well, I am off to go out for an early dinner with my mom at our favorite Thai Restaurant, then taking our bottle of Moscato to the painting class.Fun, fun, fun! Just gotta remember not to drink the paint water, and we'll do just fine! LOL.

I forgot to mention Ellie, how cute your picture was. I am having a hard time keeping you and Kymn straight. You both came about the same time, and you are both gorgeous blondes!
Beans, on the hot tub....for ME! I used to love them, and if I didn't have hot flashes so bad, I would jump in one in a heart beat. Did anyone tell me not to go in a hot tub? NO, NEVER! So I agree with Kathy, ask your doc, if he say no, ask why and for how long.......and then maybe make you're own decision.
I'm grabbing me a drink and gonna try and ketchup with Kathy and mom to join them for dinner and painting!
CHEERS!

Lori - yum! I';; have one of those banana things. Does that count as a vegetable? I was thinking about the voodoo doll myself... one time someone on my staff brought in a voodoo doll and they were taking turns naming it for the client of the day. I made them stop and reminded them that their job was to help people, but I'm sure they just turned into imagery anyway. I know I still have that voodoo doll in my head sometimes!
Beanie - if cheez balls are not fuzzy navel-appropriate I don't know what its. Love the cat pic - I bathed my cats a few months ago cuz one of them has a flea allergy and can't have even one flea on his person. The cats were well-behaved but the fleas were not... so I tried a few weeks later and the cats acted like I was trying to drown them or something. They got their point across - I'll never do that again!
On the hot tub issue - I hot tub almost every night. It makes my aching bones feel better so I can sleep. When I started having hot flashes I was worried that it would make them worse but it doesn't seem to be a problem. My 2nd PS said no hot tubbing after surgery but the 3rd PS said it was ok after a few weeks post-op. Hey! are those WDs in the hot tub?
This looks like a hit tub party!
no, these are not my dogs. My dogs both hate water if it's big enough for dunking.
Clarie - what's for dinner? I made Pommes Anna which I'll serve with leftover roast chicken and an arugula salad.
Speaking of which... I've been having a hard time in the kitchen. Normally I am an accomplished cook - even took culinary classes years ago - but I keep making messes lately! Sunday morning I tried to make cinnamon waffles for my DD and her sloop-over friends. I make them from scratch with yeast so they are usually really yummy and fluffy. The girls said they were great but they didn't look right. I forgot the eggs! Then I had a craving for lemon bars... since the Meyer lemon tree is really putting out these days, I picked a bunch and went to work. It seemed a little sloshy when I put it in the oven but it took about 20 minutes for me to realize that I forgot the flour! I pulled it out and tried to mix some flour into the liquid but the resulting nasty pan of mushy dough had to be discarded. While I had the oven hot, I also wanted to pop in a blueberry coffee cake. I thought the recipe called for an 8" pan, but it was 9" so the thing grew and spilled over the rim and made an ungodly mess in my oven. Hence, Pommes Anna. The simplest thing I could think of with very few ingredients. Maybe I shouldn't drink wine when I cook, but... it does keep me from eating the batter...

AStorm - LOL at your cooking! I've just been trying to cook more complex stuff and whew is it hard keeping track! I used to do these thing with ease! I bought "just add water" pancake mix today!!!
Goldie - yeah, hadn't thot of hot flashes n hot tubs, don't know if that would mix.
wahine - you are right to check with your doc, I'm just glad I can still wait on a bath - ha ha ha (i no dumb joke)
