how about drinking?

DorK-oh my goodness. You do what you need to do. I'm sure you have had things on your mind and stacking up the pros/cons for quite some time, right? Then there just gets to be that final event(s). We'll take care of you on this end. Anger is good...keeps you focused. Take your time, look around, decide what needs to be done now (finda lawyer, change the locks?) and what really, truly can wait (just about everything else). Hang in there...remember we have some shopping and party planning to do this week. That'll take yer mind off the bum.

Oh Dorothy, I got goosebumps reading your post as I just felt so badly for you. Been thru divorce, not fun at all, but sometimes necessary. I feel like crying for you; just feel the pain you must be feeling. Wish you lived closer and I could give you a big hug, and just let you talk.....and I will listen. Oh dear girlfriend, I hope and pray that everything will work out for you, I really and truly do. I will write to you too. Thinking of you and sending Pants out to do a house call and pamper you rotten, and then pour you some very expensive wine and fix a super nice dinner for you, and of course, the best part....he will do all the dishes and clean everything up. Then he will do *whatever* else you want, then tuck you in bed and leave you to a nice deep sleep.
Take care Dorothy, we have your back!
Hugs,Kathy

Oh DorK, I am speechless. I am so sorry hon. PM'ing you as well.

Thinking of you DorK.....dwinking a Jack Daniels and Coke for you. Hope you are doing okay tonight! Be sure to let us know how you are doing, cause we care.
Got my bone density scan results today, and THANK GOD it hasn't changed from my last one. AND my mom is doing so much better.....had some of her meds mixed up and was taking wrong dosages, so called her dr and got it straightened out. They leave tomorrow for Alaska, so wanted to have it right before their trip! Thank you girlz for all your care and concern.
Dorothy, raising my glass to you....(had White Zin earlier, and Moscato now), and we are all here for you, remember that!
Kathy

I am so sorry Dorothy. Wow, but I am sure it all came to you in a flash. It took about four incidents in succession six years ago for me to admit I had to bail.
Then it was just so clear.
Would love to make you a lovely dinner right now.
For me, it was the negativity and inability to communicate. I thought I deserved better. Even when going through chemo last year, my friends told me I sounded happy, if you can believe that.
I wonder if you were also being undermined?
Anyway, good luck. I am sure you will be fine. Will drink to better days ahead for all of us. - Claire

Lori, Not armidex OR tammy....just because of getting older, have to have the bone density done. Had a little bit wrong last time, but it hasn't changed, so was happy about that. Sorry that yours weren't so great....that sucks.
Nice to see you tonight, Beans! Yeah, we are all here for our dear Dorothy....in thick and thin. Sorry you have a stupid rash....whats that about???
Dorothy, puleez check in when you can so we know you are OK and not passed out in your girl cave.....hey now the entire house can be a girl cave (woman cave?).....

If I had known there was a man who would allow a cat to sit on his head, I might have held out a bit longer...
uh oh, I guess this isn't funny after reading your post, Dorthy. So sorry dear. BC has a way of making you evaluate your life... anyway hope it works out for the best.
great hats, Stanzie...
Hi to all my fwends! Let's all get ripped with Dorthy. I've got a case of tequila and some shot glasses - belly up! ... or we could just pass the bottle - titz up style.

Hi girls, I am popping in for a quick drink before my shower. I am rethinking things and have just wrote DH a letter. He has been writing and calling and I have ignored him. I am asking him again to change his ways but I doubt he will. I am alright, I am a strong chick and can get through this, whatever happens. You girls are all the best, I thank you all for your kind words and concern. It helps alot to just know you are here for me. Love you girls. I will try to visit tonight or even pop i from work. I really have to get moving, have been awake since 5am and done nothing productive. Cheers girls!

Stanzie-The first day was GREAT! So many people going out of their way to say Hi and Welcome, turns out I've worked with most of them at one point in time or another, spent all of lunch break catching up on everyone! Gonna be a wonderful gig for me.
Wahine-thanks for the hug, and it was wonderful! I think you are probably right about your mom and her meds. Glad your Mom's meds got straightened out, good detective work, woman! And Hooray for good bone density tests!Goldie-But the shoes are such a pretty green! I thought those would get a comment or two. I'll go shoe shopping again, and bring some more back for the official Loungette seal of approval! How about these: or these: or these:
Kymn-The NERVE of that little twiggy! I hope she made a BIG smear after the bus ran over her! The first day was great, I didn't realize how many of the staff I already knew and had worked with before. This is going to be a much easier orientation than even I thought, and I was VERY optimistic! Surprising how many of us are planning retirement in the next few years (not me!).
DorK-Doesn't' making the decision feel freeing? Good for you for thinking things through and realizing you are strong and capable on your own. No one needs an abusive man around, he's better off with his Mommy. Let her deal with his tantrums, but she probably doesn't mind running the house for his pleasure. You will do what is best for your family (daughter and dogs) and yourself. And you will thrive.
Good morning, Husker!
Claire-I'm glad you could see you deserve good treatment. Such strength here in the lounge, I never realized!
Beanie-I think the codeine had a lot to do with my choice of shoes. Gonna try again when I'm less drugged up. Or maybe not. . .
or or
Thanks, Sas!
Raining here in Maine, but I still feel rather light and relieved. So nice to look forward to going to work again! Gonna be quite the Royal Wedding partay, isn't it? Maybe we should set up a dart board with a generic male face on it, and make sure only the Wenches tend to DorK for a while. For all the hard stuff we all seem to be moving forward!

Big hugs going out to you Dorothy, tough decision to make.
Wooooo Hoooooo for you NM! I can see the excitement in your post. We are all so so happy for you. Hey, if you want to wear those other green shoes, then you should. We said outrageous didn't we? (~ whispers~ ......but I like the green heels in the middle)
Singing in the Rain looks very yummy and rather healthy, here we are still very very windy. We are under wind advisories with gusts expected up to 60 mph.
Astorm.......pass that bottle down this way! Pweeze

Hi girlz, just throwing my head (and I think the body will follow) through the door to catch up on whats been happening. Wow! some goings on!!! NM, hope your first day in the new job went well and you will feel more appreciated. Dotty, oh bother! what a bum thing to have to do! I really wish you the best in your descision. Kathy, hope your mum is doing better now that the meds are sorted. Goldie, Stanzie, Astorm, Kristy, Beans, Claire, Kymn, have I forgotten anyone? if I have please forgive me. Hugs to all you girls!
My daughter Mareike goes for surgery tomorrow 4/27. Se has now been in hospital since last Thursday and under the influence of morphine since then.....you can imagine what that is doing to her system. The good thing though is that she has been feeling very little pain because of it. This time tomorrow night she will be feeling a whole lot better.
My SIL rang late today to tell us that my FIL has beed returned to hospital for pain management and the end will be sooner rather than later so we are all in the waiting on tenter hooks mode and will be until we get the news. My DH is flying to Cairns on Monday and we are hoping he will get there before his dad passes. Your prayers would be muchly appreciated.
Sorry I'm not in much of a drinking mood but I will go down to the coffee shop for a good cup of char!!!

Hey HD, I see you didn't get your mouth fixed yet, how about those cataracts?
Crissy, I hope your daughter will be pain free sooooooon. Again I am so sorry she has to go threw that, it must be so hard to see your baby in such pain. Prayers also to your family in regards to your FIL.
0 -
Oh Chrissy (((HUGS)))) for you and your family. Boy it is all hitting at once, isn't it. Have been thinking and praying for your dear Mareike. Didn't realize she would be on morphine this long....poor dear. But like you said, at least she is not feeling the bad pain. Please let us know when you have time, after her surgery is completed. And your poor DH, knowing his dad will not be here long. I do hope he gets there in time to be with him. My heart goes out to all of you.
Well, thought I had my mom's meds all taken care of, but this morning she didn't know if she had taken any, and yesterdays compartment was empty (although it was full last night). I am thinking she took another set of am pills last night, and the pm pills this morning, so I tried to figure out what she needed to take. My dad (94) is having to keep all the finances taken care of, plus remembering things for both of them. They are still tired from the trip here and getting organized here, so not really ready for this long trip today. Which already has a long delay here, from the bad weather all over. I got a pass to get them to the gate, but had to leave as we had a roofer meeting us at the townhouse. Sheesh!!!! So still a long way to go to get things right.....emailed my SIL and hoping she will be able to overlook the pill taking, with sensitivity (not one of her good traits).
So tomorrow we have Mareike's surgery (Tues night here?) and then HD's procedure. Will be sending thoughts and prayers to both. And NM, so glad your first day went so perfectly! Very glad you can now look forward to work! DorK, whatever you decide, I will stand by you (as I am sure everyone here will do also). Very hard time for you, and I am sending hugs and good vibes your way (((hugs))).
Junie, hope you did ok with those awful storms!!! So much of the country was affected. We are expecting them anytime, for a couple of days. RIght now we just have rain....although everywhere looks sooooo flooded....depression areas in landscape look like lakes all over! Take care, everyone, and hoping and praying for the best for you all.
Huggles,
RRW

Dorothy!!! Oh My! I will PM you also but will have to be in a bit!!!!! Oh shoot.
Ok Kymn - where are you???? you have to be hiding here somewhere cause that is MY CAT!!!! no kidding! LOL!!! Will have to send a picture! Of course I would be clawed and scratched to death if I tried that - however that picture sent me into howls of laughter! Can't wait to show my daughter - she will flip.... gotta run. More later!!!
NM - so glad so far so good.....

Kymn - that is a rather annoying skinny chic t-shirt and I'm glad it got put under the bus...I kinda follow Rodney Dangerfield's advice, "I found there was only one way to look thin: hang out with fat people." Ha ha ha ha, well I think it's funny! That cat hat is so funny, me likeee!
That reminds me I think Goldie was asking about that tag line a had for a time, also a Rodney Dangerfield quote, "I drink too much. The last time I gave a urine sample it had an olive in it.' He he he he he he!!
I'm so glad your parents are going to visit you...I'm guessing it will be emotional. I think I told you mine have both passed, but my sister came to visit me while I was going thru chemo hell and it was very emotional. I kept telling myself not to cry, but she's my big sister, and as much I tried to hold back some tears just flowed. I say when the tears are there, let them out! I do hope you have a fantastic time with them!
Goldie - What can you do to improve bone density? I take calcium every day, but haven't had a bone density test, I guess I'll ask my doc next visit about that. Hope that wind calms down, that gets annoying for sure.
Wahine - I could def use that "used to be anorexic t-shirt" that is kewl and poyfect for a chunky monkey like me to wear.
My superboob has calmed down a lot, so that is getting better. Then a few days ago I woke up and had a real light rash on my lower back. So I put some anti-itch cream on and took a little antihistamine. Next day I show my DH that the rash has spread onto my hips and on the insides of my knees. He just looks at me and shakes his head, because it seems like it's always something any more. So I don't know if it's heat rash as the temps have come up here, or the bugs are coming out, could be a spider bite, who knows...also tamoxifen can give you a rash...will be seeing me doc soon, so in the meantime, I think it's okay, just another reason I need a drink this morning and why I keep my cupboard stocked with fukitols! You also wrote such nice things to Dorthy, and how nice you sent Pants to do a house call!
So happy your bone density results are unchanged, that's great news and also that your mom is doing better, what a relief that must be!
Husker - Such nice words you wrote to Dorthy, and good idea to keep focusing on the shopping and party planning, that will get us all through any poopy crapola.
Claire - When I got a divorce, same thing, I worked so hard at trying to make it last - banged my head on the wall for so long, then it did become clear one instant. So I went and filed for divorce and it was the right thing to do. Glad you had the presence of mind to know you deserved better and you've come out happier, me too! And all of us deserve to be treated with respect.
AStorm - LOL at if you had known there was a man who would allow a cat to sit on his head...he he he! Great idea to get ripped with Dorthy, tequila sounds great!
Sas-schatzi - hello, nice to see you stop in and hope you will come back!
Dorthy - So good to hear from you today...sounds like a lot going on and just know, like wahine said, "we got your back!" Take care and drive carefully out there. We luv ya sweetie! Here's a big bear hug...
NM - Hurray for you!!! I'm so freakin happy you had a good first day and know some of the people you'll be working with. Such great news!! Sending you a congratulations gift
Love the cartoons, and pics today, wow just great shoes, ooooooooeeeeeeyyyyy!!! Wow! It rained here last night and yesterday, but now it's snowing a little bit again - eeerrrgghhh! More white stuff but I don't think it will stick, it will just be gray and cold and ugly. The Singing in the Rain drink is perfect for today's skies!
Looks like we have another girl passed out here...nice shoes, though.
Chrissy - so good to see ya! Sorry to hear your daughter needs surgery, what is it for, I sure hope nothing serious! Glad she is not having pain. Also sorry to hear your FIL is back in the hospital, this doesn't sound good at all, you are on my daily prayer sheet and I'll add your daughter and FIL too. Hope your coffee is good and just remember even if you don't feel like drinking you can always just pour a slug of virtual likker in with your coffee, that always makes me smile! You take care and come back soon.
HD - Yay! Soo good to see you two days in a row!!! Glad you had a nice nature outing, it's always good to hear from you.
Well, only new thing right now is that I'm all itchy as h3ll...hope you are all doing well and will meet me and Junie down by the hammocks for some sun and a bucket of dog beers! Sending big bear hugs to you all!!! Cha cha cha chears!
0 -
Dorothy - be stong! Your point is that you don't want the negativity in your life. That was my message to my DH and he listened. We even took both dogs with us on a road trip to Portland and he has started feeding the cats and he is much nicer to me. Whether you let him back into your life or not, you just stick to your guns girl! I won't put the tequila away just yet...
Chrissy - can't imagine having DD in the hospital... and then your FIL too. I guess it just makes us stronger and more appreciative of the good days. (((BIG HUGS)))
NM - thanks for reminding us that change can be a very good thing! So happy for you! Goodness me, I think that is an awesome looking drink and glad we have the Tenders to mix that for us... I'd lose track half way though all the ingredients...
Kathy - I worry about my MIL.... she has ataxia, for which there is no cure. Her movement is deteriorating very quickly and dramatically and I worry thay she isn't getting good medical advice. I think she should have physical therapy so that she can be mobile longer and it just seems to me that moving is critical to her overall well-being. She says there is no PT for ataxia and is just giving up. Not sure I wouldn't do the same if I had lost 2 out of 3 of my children but we aren't ready to give up on her. DH went to visit and mostly worked with his dad, training him to wash dishes and a little bit about nutrition (can't eat Mexican and fast food every day)... basically he used the checklist I used for our DD who is going off to college.
Oh mi, there is another page...

Ooooops wahine - I missed your post, oh I'm so sorry about the confusion with your mom's meds, that just sounds so hard to deal with for you and your dad. We do have a lot going on right now!
Junie - I'm also hoping you are okay and not bothered by storms!
Stanzie - I'm sorry I missed your post too, so Kymn's cat hat is your cat? That is so funny.
Husker - So when is the next party and what are we shopping for next???
0 -
AStorm - sorry I bumped your post, darn it! So sorry to hear about your MIL and ataxia...I will be wishing her the best.
A thought on marriage...

Oh my, we all have so much turmoil right now. BEANS, oooohhhhhhh that makes me itchy just reading about your rash. Sure spread quickly....think it is the tammy? Would it be good to call your dr today, even though you are seeing him soon, in case there is something you can do? Hope you get some relief soon! Nice flowers and bubbly for NM!! Wow....still getting snow???? Sheesh!!!! Seems like so many of us have rain today, that NM's dwink is poifect.
Gail, How old is your MIL? Thinking she might not be too old? How sad to give up, but yes, after losing 2 of her offspring, I can understand that. When my late DH died, even thoiugh I had my 2 teen DD's to raise, I wanted to die too. But maybe yiou can ask her dr to advise her to have PT??? That is SO hard, as they get older. Do they live close to you?
Whew...parents flight FINALLY took off...now to search for a fancy schmancy hat for our Royal Partay!!!
ChEARS! Wet Tears (or RAIN)! No Fears!!!!!
kathy (risque wisque)

Let's have a PAR-TAY!!!
We can play pool!

Good morning LadieZ,
Beans said it all.
Just want to respond to the bone density question. Walking. I need to get in two 3 mile walks during the week as need to make sure I preserve hip density. I think the weights help too. And the cycling for my back. Remember, that five more years into menopause, chemo, and a year of anastrazole, my spine density is higher.
So focus on the hip/femur neck which have negative T scores, but still in the normal range.
Talk about an excuse for getting off my bicycle and walking the hills!!!!!
I am trying to screw up the courage and get my bicycle in for a major maintenance which will cost $$$$$$. I have worn out a chain, cassette (rear sprocket), brake pads, and I suspect wheel rims. This is as bad as car repair!!! I also need cycling shoes as mine are falling apart.
I may need to head from bicycle shop to wine bar as only a few blocks away when I get the estimate.
Speaking of wine bar, I don't have to do a Thursday evening meeting so I can do the white wine and seafood fest. YUMMY. Can't wait for that one.
Now, I need to get back to work to support my cycling. Realize it could be worse....at least it's not golf. - Claire

Beanie - that is my kinda party! The cat checking out the goodies... I've seen that expression! Think I'll pass on the bear hugs though... my DH hugs like that and I used to worry that he'd pop my balloons but I didn't want to say anything cuz he's already afraid of them so I've gotten in the habit of keeping my elbows around them and just hugging him with my forearms.
Kathy - sadly, the ILs don't live near us... used to think that was a blessing but ILs are kind of llike teens -- you want to live near them and you don't.
Wow, Claire. My RockHopper needs maintenance too... the tires are completely dried out and there is so much dust on the chain you can't even see it... it has been hanging in my garage for 20 years! I'll bet if I ever got on a bike again I would just love the feeling, but we live in an area where people get killed on bikes and I'm really scared to ride on the road. There is a great forest to ride in but that would entail putting a rack on my car and the bike is from the 80's and weighs a ton. I'm trying to talk DH into getting a mtn bike so he'll put a rack on his Subaru and maybe ride with me once in awhile. He never drives on the weekend... rides his bike everywhere and no one has hit him yet but he has had some close calls.
Bone density... look what I found on cookinglight.com!
Beer
Not into hard liquor? Try a beer cocktail. A study from Tufts School of Nutrition showed that beer may protect bone mineral density because beer contains high levels of dietary silicon which enables the deposit of calcium and other minerals in bone tissue. The silicon in dark beer helps absorption of calcium and minerals to make strong bones.
Try a Black Velvet by mixing equal parts champagne with a chilled stout or dark beer. (Try a Guinness; despite its hearty reputation, it has fewer calories than many of its lager friends.) Pour the stout into the glass first, then slowly add the champagne so that the drinks layer.Ok, I'm not gonna do that to my Veuve Clicquot, but maybe I should drink more beer. Hmm, my friend who likes really good beer has osteoporosis... anyway, its worth a try...

OH My, what a difference a day can make,
Dear Dorothy, I am so sorry things have come to this for you. Its such a hard decision to make either way the pro's the con's and wondering if we made the right decision. I too am among the divorced. The man I refer to as my DH is actually my Fiance been together about 7 years now. When I first started on the board didnt really know any of you gals and not really one to open up just left it as DH, feels like he is even if it isnt legal. dont know if I will ever get remarried or not. I wish for you clear thoughts, as Dr. Phil says lol not a huge fan but he sometimes makes sense if you still have a lot of anger its not time yet. When my X DH and I divorced it was all settled and calm, we are now best friends. He is even good friends with my Fiance whom after this post I will go back to referring as my DH . Take your time, follow your inner feelings they are usually spot on. Wish I could go for coffee with you, I think we would have alot to share. Hugs for you.
Chrissy, my goodness, is it really fair, no its not, Its just seems after all we have been through, or are going through we should get a break somewhere doesnt it. Are you close with your FIL? Do you live close by? I know Australia is such a huge country easy to let too much time go by before we see our loved ones isnt it. My parents live 2 and half hours from me, thats it, and I maybe see them 3 times a year. I need to work on that, or they do,. I sure hope your DD is getting some relief and that you have a wonderful support system in place for yourself and of course you always have us .
Kathy, how frustrated your family must be feeling. Your mom must be frustrated cause she remember and your poor Dad prolly feeling guilt cause he cant and then there is you trying your best to keep track of everything when you arent 100 yourself. I guess all we can do during these times in enjoy the special moments and keep putting one foot in front of the other during the well not so special ones. I wish I was there to help you out some. You are so good to your folks I am sure they just love you to pieces.
HD so nice to see your pretty green face 2 days in a row . how are things with you? what has been going on? Share girlfriend.
Husker was wondering are you getting any hair growth during chemo? I am still getting growth everywhere not huge but its still growing even on my head. Just wondering if you were having this too.
Beanius so sorry about the itchy skin, I hate being itchy I hate getting mosquitoe bites i scatch until I scare its awful. Have you tried a nice oatmeal bath? I stip coffe about the tee shirt with the urine test and the olive, too funy lol
NM so happy for you that your first day was so positive and uplifting. You so deserve it and they are very lucky to have you. Makes me so happy you left that other job when you did.
Stanzie that is too funny about your cat....maybe I have ESPN as my DD would call it lol. You will have to post a pic of your feline for me.
Ok I tried to be as good as NM on getting everyone but have to go get some lunch I am starving.
so sending hugs and positive thoughts to Junie, Astorm,Claire, goldie and Sas. So sorry if I missed someone
Hugs Kymn

Hey, Kymn! How are you doing? Hope you are feeling super dooper. If not, we got tequila... and beer
0 -
Beans, Oh I will take some of those bear hugs.....and enjoyed all the funny pics and your comments! Sounds like you are getting us all ready for a big PARTAY!!!! You choose the date/time and I'll be there. Just too tired right now to organize one, so am glad YOU are doing that....that is what you are doing right? Cause don't get me all excited about a HTL party and then not have one....LOL. Just revisited your pics, and got more laffs. Also love the one for NM....verrrry cute! Still haven't looked for my Royal Hat or other garb. (garbage?)....lol
Gail, Oh that is hard on you all that your IL's ,do not live nearby. I am so sorry for what your MIL is going through with that disease and not being able to do much.Hmmmmm....so beer may protect bone density....sounds good to me! Will need to join Junie and Beans more often for those dog beers! HD you enjoy your beer too....maybe that is a GOOD thing!!!!
Kymn.....you mean I am NOT 100%????? Oh now you have me worried....LOL. J/K. Not sure if I ever am 100%....oh well I do my best. You were sweet to share that with us, about your fiance. But you are right....you have been with him so long that referring to him as your DH just sounds right! Sometimes it does take awhile to want to divulge certain info, as there could be a lot of "lurkers" too. Thanks for saying you would like to help me.....that was really sweet. I think we all need to have a big coffee get-together like you said you wanted to do with Dorothy,......we could all just gab and gab and gab. Would NEVER run out of something to say!!!
JuneBug, are you OKAY????? Sounds like some bad tornado damage out your way....puleez post when you can and let us know you are doing good. Hope all the dr visits go well this week! Got this iced down bucket of dog beers just for you....but you know I may dwink some, just to make sure they are ok, that is! LOL.
Cheers Dears!
Kathy
