Claire - thanks for the bone density info, so I guess my jogging and walking is probably good, plus the calcium supplement...good luck with bike repairs and new cycling shoes!

AStorm - glad you like the silly party! The beer cocktail looks really good, I like the Black Velvet, sounds kinda good to mix champs with Guinness.

Kymn - Yeah I would share a lot more but this is public so I like what Wahine says, "lurkers." But that is so neat you are still friends with you X and you have a wonderful DH of 7 years. Thanks for the oatmeal bath idea, that sounds nice and I wish I could have seen you spit your coffee - tee heet!

Wahine - I will send you bear hugs any time! Now, as for the PARTAY, Huskeer is the oone who has all the details. We are shopping for fancy hats and I think there's one partay today because it's Tuesday and we heard from HD two days in a row, then tomorrow is hump day Partay, then I really think Husker has to tell us what's next. Anyway, big happy hour party today for sure!! Sure hope we get Junebug to stop by with some of that beer!

Wahine...you and I spoke already. But you are only wearing a hat? Boy you are risque!

Beanies, I take calcium too. It's the Arimidex that eats away them. Doc told me that if it were much worse next year, I would have to take Femara or something of the sorts. But now there is big law suits on that drug! So I don't know...........praying it won't be bad? Hope you find out what the rash is from! Ha ha, you are just bumping into everyone! Cute pics, as always!

Good advice for DorK Gail. Sorry to hear about your MIL as well. I knew my beer had to be good for something! You know, I have never done a shot of To Kill Ya????? (don't tell, but I'm affraid)

Kymn, you are sounding good girl. You and Husker need to remind us of your next cocktails.

And if Junie doesn't get here for her dog beers, I will be dipping into them as well!

Well!   Sounds like a lot of us are on the same gawd-awful rolley coaster ride!!!   Stop this stupid ride--I WANT OFF!!!!   No immediate damage here, but we've had a record-breaking 16 inches of rain in 5 days.   More bad storms/heavy rain/wind expected for later tonight.   We lost power all day yesterday.   DH was off to a dr's appt and got detoured 3 times by roads closed due to high water.   I had to get my emergency/portable oxygen going by myself.  Was nervous, but got it all hooked up and was fine.    No internet until this morning, so reading madly trying to catch up!   Much going on!!!

Morphine--I was on a morphine drip when in the hospital with my collapsed lung.  I don't remember much pain, but it made me totally nuts!  DH finally asked if there was something else they could put me on...can't pronounce or spell it, but something "delilude"....think it kept me just as nutty!   Have lots of memory gaps from that time frame!!!

A potential deevorce--heartfelt hugs to DorK!!  Also been down that road--and seems to be much agreement that it usually turns out to be the wisest choice.   Nothing wrong with trying to work things out--whatver, as said before, "We've got your back"!!!  You do what's best for YOU!

DH thinks I am crazy for wanting to watch the Royal wedding.   Don't plan to be up at 4 a.m. but will record and start watching as soon as I do get up.   I just find it fascinating and mind-boggling.  And, I love shopping for the PAR-TAY!!!!!

Wahine--tks for getting my dog beers iced down!  Help yourself--I'm on my way to join you and Beans at the pool--hope that rash isn't contagious!!!!  Cyber hugs--and been practicing my "kiss the air by each cheek" for the wedding!!!

.....ahhhhh, this hammock feels so good, and the beer is so cold.........ahhhhhhh!!!!!!

Here is a study done by the NIH regarding red wine and aromatization.

Suppression of aromatase (estrogen synthetase) by red wine phytochemicals.
Eng ET, Williams D, Mandava U, Kirma N, Tekmal RR, Chen S.
    Source
Division of Immunology, Beckman Research Institute of the City of Hope, Duarte, CA 91010, USA.
    Abstract
Estrogen promotes the proliferation of breast cancer cells. Aromatase is the enzyme that converts androgen to estrogen. In tumors, the expression of aromatase is upregulated compared to surrounding non-cancerous tissue. In this study, we found that wine contains phytochemicals that are capable of suppressing aromatase. Red wine was shown to be much more effective than white wine in the suppression of aromatase activity. Whole wine, lyophilized wine, and heat-treated extracts were examined for aromatase inhibition in a human placenta microsomal assay. C18 Sep-Pak cartridge (Waters Co.) separation of red wine extracts under an increasing acetonitrile (ACN) gradient found that the most active components were in the 20% ACN fraction, in that they inhibited the wild-type human placenta aromatase, wild-type porcine placenta and blastocyst aromatase in a dose-dependent fashion. The 20% ACN active fraction was heat stable and inhibited aromatase in a non-competitive manner. The aromatase-inhibitory action of red wine extracts was also examined with a transgenic mouse model in which aromatase is over-expressed in the mammary tissues. It was found that the intake of the 20% ACN fraction by gavage completely abrogated aromatase-induced hyperplasia and other changes in the mammary tissue. This is the first report demonstrating that wine, especially red wine, contains phytochemicals that can inhibit aromatase.

Hope all is well with my fwends in stormy places... physically and figuratively...

Barbara - don't understand the aromatase inhibition stuff... is that good or bad? I'm pre-meno so can't take AI yet but does this mean I could just drink more red wine and skip it altogether?

Well, I'm off to have cocktails and listen to retirement strategists with DH... I'll be back later for more serious consumption!

Lori  -ssssshhhh! don't tell anyone but I've never been able to "shoot" ... I just sip from the shot glass. People used to tease me and gave me the nickname, "The Lady" but I'm not so sure I deserve it cuz once it goes down the hatch it has the same effect.

but if you are willing to try, HTL is the place to do it!

Nice try Gail on the Aromatase Inhibitors.  That would be the gist of the article.  Suspect it would take gallons of red wine per day to have any effect.  So your liver would croak first.

I am joking, but the problem with the article is that it doesn't translate into anything actionable.  Just an observation in a controlled laboratory environment.  The article is dated 2001, so old news.  I don't think there is anything out there that builds on these findings.

    But interesting all the same.

The Royal Wedding will be fun, if for nothing other than the hats.

I am finished with the first draft of the report I am writing.  Will reread in the AM prior to shipping off.  Anyway, too soon for the PAR-TAY but think I could use something strong.

Thinking of you DorK. - Claire

Dorothy----------I hope you did the practical things 1. check with a lawyer real fast 2. close all dual credit accounts. 3. hope you didn't have his name on your bank account, if so clean it out real quick.  check the titles to the cars. 5.clean out the safety deposit box, cancel it, and get another one. 6. If there are mutual funds and Life insurance polices change beneficiaries if you can ----usually a spouse has to sign if they are beneficiary. . 7. get a restraining order pronto. 8. hope you have a backup plan. 9. get all the tax records and hide them someplace, preferably not at home-------maybe the new safety deposit box.

You said you have paid all the bills anyway----if you don't do this right, you could end up paying him alimony. This is not to make you crazy ,but my sil planned her divorce for perhaps a year by lawyer guidance. Hope you filled separate tax forms.

Anyone here who has knowledge of what else Dorothy can do to protect herself, put it in ASAP. because if this is final and no prep work done, he could wipe you out financially and run up allot of bills.

So, sorry you have to go through this. sas

BCK, we really don't have answers for that here. We just have some virtual fun and support one another. Perhaps that should be asked somewhere else on the boards or to your doctor. Altho we do have a wonderful nurse on board, and perhaps she could answer you with a PM. But please join us for a drink.......or 2 or 3 and some fun!

Ms Lady, your secret is safe with Muah!

Oh Junie, that is scarry. Hoping your dog beers will calm you.

Good evening ladies! Just a quickie (he he) as I am actually working on some organizing tonight and trying to watch 2 shows. BUT I just heard from Dorothy (aka DorK), and she has lost her phone, cable, and internet connection, so wanted me to tell you all that she is doing alright. So, don't have to worry about her tonight!! I'm sure she will ketchup when she can. At least she has not run out of JD! She even sent me over a Seagram's....how sweet is that!

    Dwink Up!

Ladies, how deeeee! I am having trouble getting an internet connection, again hacking into a neighbors wireless router. My damn net, phone AND TV are out again. I think I hate Verizon. I am missing a great hockey game but have it on radio.

I have not been able to read but this page of posts and have to thank all you gals again for your support. I am hurting as is DH. He is a good guy, just not a dog lover. My sis came over today to do some cleaning for me and she thinks I should give him another shot. After all, my dogs ARE a pain in the ass....just no easy solution.

SAS, I have always kept myself protected and have already talked to my attorney. My property and car are in my name and he has zero access to anything else. I learned after my first failed marriage.

Kymn, wow, thanks for sharing your story here, so very sweet of you, I got goose bumps hearing you tell it. And we have SO much in common. When I split on Sunday, DH and my ex DH were here and they just kept partying after I left, although I now know that DH was feeling a lot of remorse - I got the scoop from my ex. He and I are also best friends as you and your former hubby.  What a trip reading that!!

Well I am hitting send while I have a connection here. Of all days to lose everything, today is NOT the one.  i just thank my God for JD. I had my first drink tonight with my home improvement man. He is fixing a gutter and replacing the medicine cabinet in one of my bathrooms that my retarded hand broke. I have an entrapped ulnar nerve which has caused half of my left hand to be numb. A few weeks ago, I slid the mirror door with my retarded numb hand and pulled it off the track and CRASH it went. Damn, to get the mirror fixed will be over 300.00 - I am just going to replace the fn thing. Ok, hitting send, sorry digressed from the topic.

My flyers are up three zip, yippie, I will stop crying about things and keep drinking.....

Love you gals more than you know, except one, you know who you are!!! hahahaha!

Flyers scored, four nothing yippee, looks like we are going to the next round!!!! Hey where did everybody go?? Is there a likker clearance sale somewhere?? ok, trying to be funny and striking out. I need to communicate with DH and have a bad headache, I just popped a 10 ml valium and a double dose of motrin. I wish I could sleep but had twelve hours last night, my body is tired yet my brain is speeding. I think Pants slipped methamphemine into my dwink. bad boy!

Hi girls, lots of catching up to do. AGAIN! I'm good, but sporting a headache for some reason, so I don't know... a Bloody Mary?!!

Dorothy, Glad you could pop in. We've all been worried. Take care of yourself and try to rest. Our brains need an on/off switch, don't they? These racing thoughts (almost typed "racy thoughts!) are so hard to slow down, even with a little help from our likker friends.

Kymn, The hair is not growing much at all. I have a little bit of stubble in little patches. Can't tell except to touch. I am not able to take any Biotin (B6 I think, because of the clinical trial), but want to see this week if Rogaine would be helpful. I'm glad to hear you've got some growth! Thank goodness it has been cool. The wig has been fine although breezy on cool days when I have recess duty! I whip that baby off when I come home and wear scarves or hats.

I have chemo #4 on Thursday. The party, of course, (at least the one I was thinking of) is Friday morning at 4:00 to watch the royal couple get married. So, you should all be shopping at least for a hat, if not the whole dress and shoes, as others have done already. I have an outfit reserved, just have to figure out how to post the hat, then the dress, then the shoes in one message. I've done it once with the Betty Boop lamp (no, not a fan, just liked the red piano!) but multiple pictures? We'll see. However, we can have a party before the wedding can't we? Just get your shoppin done so we are ready for the grand occasion. Has everyone practiced their curtseying and sashaying? Since I get steroid-loaded tomorrow, I'm sure I'll be up. If not, I'll set Tivo. Or maybe I'll set the alarm. I got up to watch Princess Di, seems like I could do the same for these guys. Except. I'm tired. I wasn't so tired when Di got married!

popping in between storms while still have power!    Hoping to see all of DWTS--no tv last night!   More dog beers, pwease!!!    BCK--need a layman's interpretation of the article you posted...got lost trying to read it--doubt that my occasional glass of wine will make much dif one way or the other.   And, SAS--huh?????    I haven't received any cure spamming messages--not since about 3 or 4 bc.o updates ago.....but, that is one reason I don't have personal info posted or a bio.  We're usually so dwunk here that we'd prob ask the spammer to pull up a bar stool and chat with us!!!  (j/k--it is bothersome to have that happen and hope it is resolved soon!!!)

HD--glad you joined me at the pool....we've got lots of catching up to do!   Goldie--glad you want a dog beer--help yourself!!!  The hammock next to me is empty (Wahine is in the casino) so plop down and let's cyber shop for hats/shoes/dresses!!!

Chrissy--you've got a load going on down under--will this affect your trip to the U.S.???  Sending cyber hugs and hoping all goes well for you and family.

LOL--shots vs sipping......I used to love Tequila shots--salt, lime, and slam the empty shot glass on the bar   Some years ago, a dear friend introduced us to Almond Tequila which is a sipper.   All I heard was the Tequila word and downed my glass.  I was face down on the table in 5 minutes!!!.   But, that is soooo yummy!   We try to bring a bottle of it back with us every time we go to Mexico.   Have a bottle that we need to drink.......maybe we'll celebrate our first sunny day with no rain!!!!

Need your cyber hugs for my dr appts tomorrow and Thursday!    Big hugggsssss to ALL!!

DorK, Glad you were able to post, after all. Hope it will all get fixed soon!!! (((hugs))) for what you are going through right now.

Junie, Will definately be thinking of you tomorrow and Thursday....and am expecting a report!!!

Can hardly believe my parents are STILL traveling, to AK. Don't know why I was thinking it would take just 12 hours! More like 15+ hrs. Storms still haven't arrived, but they sure are predicting "doom and gloom" tomorrow/tomorrow night. That's what I call my DH when he gets so pessimisstic at times....I just say "doom and gloom" and he knows what I am referring to.

STILL have not started my hat hunting. Yuppers junie, I was in the casino....how did you know that?? Was I whooping it up too much? I did hit it big, after all..... j/k.

Ok been home about 20 minutes and still getting love from WD... big big kisses and waggy tail and wiener whines... anyone who could kick a dachshund needs help.

Dorthy - I once had to communicate with ex so I asked him to pick me up from dentist's office where  I loaded up on percodan before I even got out of the chair. I was supposed to warn him that he would be served the next day ... oops... I guess that is my only regret.

Kristy - if I know these girls they'll have you propped up in the corner with a fancy hat on your head so you'll be there even if you can't remember the party.

Oooo.... Dancing with the Stars is on!    WD is so happy he is running up and down the hall and skidding out on the hardwood...

Just a quick hello to let you know that Mareike is in surgery as I type and is due back in her room in about an hour and a half time.

Had a sad phone call at 1.00pm this afternoon to tell us that FIL had just passed, much quicker than any of us had anticipated.   Please forgive me if I'm spasmodic in my posting but I know you know how I'm feeling at the moment.

Awww, Chrissy, so very sorry about the loss of your FIL. Sending lots of love and prayers to your family. Hang in there, I know you have alot going on now.  I love ya Chrissy <<<HUG>>>. I hope your daughters surgery was a great success and that she recovers quickly.

RWW, yes, I had a drink with my handy man. He asked me if I still drank JD and I said why of course. He told me that his wife does not let him drink at home as he will down a large bottle in a week. I have known him for some time, he has done my floors, bathroom and other home improvments over the years. He is a great guy. He put my recycle out last night for me, I am so happy that I did not have to drag it all to the street.

So i guess I need to break down and go hat shopping unless Gail can pick one for me - I do like your taste Gail.

Well I have to do some paper work now then get into the shower but wanted to let you all know I am doing well and hanging in there. Lots of love to all of you.....

DorK, you are one tough cookie and a smart one too, therefore me thinks you will do the right thing.

Junie me love, of course we wish you the best at your appts.

Husker, you too for your next chemo. On the rogaine, from what I hear, the hair you grow with that, falls out when you quit using it.

Kathy, those are some long trips for your folks, and then turning around and coming back on Friday? I think we will need to send some Tenders out to their place to take care of them so they can rest.

Astorm, you are on a roll with the hats girl! I have my attire ready. I didn't figure you as one that was divorced. Gosh, who here is NOT? Not me!

Kymn, my DH and I were together for 10 yrs before we married, just got married in Oct 09. I never knew how to "refer" to him, as I felt too old to be calling him my boyfriend! Here, I referred to him as S.O. and in real life I think I always said my fiance. Oh well, he is DH now! And that bus is magic, we CAN and we WILL be where we need to be. We just roll like that!

Chrissy, our dear dear friend, so glad to know that your DD has finally made it to surgery. We do hope all goes well. So sorry to hear about your FIL, did DH make it in time? You sure have a lot on your plate right now, praying for strength for you. ((((((Chrissy)))))

A chilly 22 degrees here this morning. Had to go out at 4 this morning and drag the grill into the greenhouse to light it to keep things from freezing in there. Dang screwy weather here! Oh ya, Gail, I keep forgetting to tell you. We stopped on our way home from CA at our favorite nursery, and they had pineapple sage, got me 2. Glad I hadn't planted them yet.

Morning girlz! Stormy day here, already had to take cover early w/ tornado warnings, and another one nearby right now, but seems to be tracking just n of us. Going to be a rough day today!

Chrissy, Thank you so much for letting us know your dear Mareike is in surgery. Hoping and praying it will go very well this time, and she will have a quick, uneventful recovery. You poor dear, you have been through so much.My heart breaks for the loss of your FIL, and esp since your DH had planned to be there soon. I am so very sorry, and wish I were there to give you a big (((hug))) too.. I think you are one of the few here (or only one here) that has not been divorced, is that correct? Thinking of you and sending prayers your way for you and your family.

DorK, I agree with your earlier post....you know what I am referring to. You rock, girl!

Oh shoot, tornado sirens just went off AGAIN. Glad though that we get a phone call from the weather center when it is right near us....when we need to take cover asap, so will be aware, but also wait for that phone call. I know the tv will go out soon, darn satellite dish.

You all take care, and I will take cover....
