TIME TO CIRCLE THE WAGONS GIRLS

Hi everyone, I am gearing up for AC #3 tomorrow. I am sooooo dreading it. #2 kicked my butt in terms of fatigue. Last week I could barely function. Although, as it turns out, I got my period this weekend so I think that was definitely part of it. When is that chemopause they promised going to kick in? lol I am getting hot flashes too so I think my body is totally screwed up.
Robin, great news on the tumor markers!
Vicky, I will be going for genetic counseling soon too. I dont have much of a family history either so I will not be surprised if I am in the same position as you. I would much rather spend the $3000 on a great vacation! lol. But I have sisters, so I may just go ahead with it either way.
MB, thanks for the great dinner. Really hit the spot so I pigged out since I wont be enjoying food for a week or so!
Tgirl, thanks for asking about me. I have been sooooooo tired, and not up to posting. Today is the first day I have felt energetic. And tomorrow is my next treatment. SIGH. Sorry I missed your lunch! I hope you girls had fun! You must be so happy to be done with the herceptin! Congrats!
Shel, wow, your hottie sounds great! And he does so much for you! Definitely a keeper!
Amy, love the pictures! Thanks for sharing!
Nicki, hope your luck continues to hold out and you avoid getting DHs cold!
NS, what an amazing recap! How do you do that?
Sorry to everyone I missed .there was just too much to catch up on!
*Hugs*

Wow Robin, way to go!
Shel - what a bounce back!
Nice to celebrate good news around the fire.
I have homemade beaf steak and kidney pie - some of you may not cotten to that but it sure is good with some mashed potatoes on the side, carrots and parsnips. A winter meal.
Other than that some interesting news. I went to a sweat lodge yesterday and prayed hard for healing. Now my body is tired and needs to get some extra rest.
BTW - I have run across an interesting tea - chrysanthymum, made with the real flowers. Cleansing and healing. Got it at a local Asian market. Yummy.
Off to bed, nite to all.
Jeannette0 -
Kristin, that reminds me of the way I felt during chemo. As soon as I started feeling better it's time for the next treatment. LOL My heart is there with you!
Susan0 -
Amy with my bad eyes I couldn't make out the pictures. Is the peanut one your new little puppy?? Looking forward to larger pictures. Did you all notice i put a star on there for "all fur babies"? And congratulations on your new saw!!
Susan0 -
WooHOO Robin way to go!
I had a really nice birthday, even if I got my flu shot & pneumonia shot as a birthday present from my job!
My hubby managed to fenagle a dvd of "Cars" before they were on sale to the public for my birthday! Isn't he great, a nice soft fleece blanket and the movie I wanted!
He took me out to a nice dinner at Bahama Breeze.
My youngest called to tell me happy birthday and called back to tell me her sister sent her a text message to call me fo her since she couldn't get a phone signal with all the rain we're having. So both my girls remembered this year too.
Funny thing is I now personally know three other people that have the same birthday as me. Isn't that bizzare!
We are absolutly rained out here in Washington. they say that we are at the 100 year flood plain this week! Glad I don't live in the valley! I actually heard the emergancy broadcast used for the first time today! Scary!
Well I'm babbelling, hope everyone is dry and safe tonight
hugs and prayers to all0 -
Good Morning Everyone! The weather is pretty nice today, this end of the circle. Its still dark outside, but I can see the stars, so at least its not gonna be a cloudy day. Actually I think we all could use a little sunshine today.
Lynn: What an awful experience with the Diverticulitis. Im glad you are on antibiotics and hope you are feeling better.
The trees are pretty much bare. A reminder, Winter is here. Its not coming! But a nice day in the 70's today. Ill take it, so long as there isnt a big snow storm behind it when the weather changes to more normal temperatures for the Chicago area. Thats usally when we get hit bigtime. When it is unseasonable warm - then a cold front comes in.
Im gonna be at a hospital today again that is right off the shores of Lake Michigan. So I plan on taking a walk by the shores - probably one last time until its Springtime.
Susan: I know in the back of your mind, you are worried about this rib pain. It could be so many things. And waiting to have tests done stinks. I hope this week goes by fast. You need piece of mind again. With regards to tanning. I have never gone to a tanning place. I have been blessed with Meditarranean skin. So my tans come from being out in the sun. Although all winter I dont look quite as healthy. I have a fear of tanning booths. Get clostrophobic. My friend went to a place where they sprayed her entire body! And she came out with a great tan, but no exposure to those ultra violet rays. So good luck to you in that end also. So who did your permanent makeup?
Amy: Building your own house on a farm sounds like fun. A sure way to combat stress. My SIL did the same thing. Her house is done now and it is gorgeous. The pics of "mazer the tazer" is great. Looks just like I pictured.
Shel: Despite all the hardships, in many ways you are lucky. To have a nice young man who enjoys your company. Sounds like fun - but wondering where will this lead to? Probably lots more fun.
Tgirl: Good to see you. I hope the Eagles cream Washington this week-end. I am still totally bummed out about the Bears game. They looked awful. And to Miami yet. Absolutely disgusting. And they better get their acts together. We play the giants this week-end. I blame the loss of the whole darn team. Offensive - despicable. Defense - tired from all the fumbles and interceptions putting the ball back in Miamis hands at the goal line. Special teams - fumbles. Coaches? Well, they didnt do something right. And we have a great quarterback for back up. Why didnt they put him in when they saw Grossman doing so awful? I hope they learnd their lesson or its gonna be a long Season.
Robin: I think when I read your post I yelled out loud. That is such wonderful news. The chemo is doing its job and hopefully soon, you will be able to move on with your life. As far as the jerky husband, time to let go of those feelings. This is about you and really, who cares what he thinks. Alonely man he will be once your gone and he realizes what he is missing!
PurpleMB: Ahahah with so many invitations to your home, wouldnt you be surprised if we all showed up lol? I got a great visual for the interior of the hearse. A lush, deep purple sounds wonderful. So what ya gonna do with it when its all finished?
Vickie: Just stop for a moment and ask yourself some questions. Is a positive BRCA gonna change your treatment plan or direction? I think for me having a positive test was anticlimatic. It confirmed a decison I had made long before the test. I know cancer runs in my family. Its a little different for you, not knowing your family background, but one thing you do know now, is that breast cancer runs in your family. As far as having your ovaries out. My gyne didnt want to remove my ovaries despite the fact that I was BRCA positive. I just glared at him. I said look, Im 55 years old, my sister hand ca of ovary, and if Im going under anesthesia I was to take care of business. Told him my surgeon was my quarterback and he agreed I should have them out. So got them removed. But it was after menopause!
Liz: I hate losing posts to cyber space. It seems to be happening more and more. Thats why I write one paragraph and save, then edit as I go along. Hope things are going well.
Kristin: Ah yes, the dreaded fatigue that goes along with chemo. It truelly was the hardest thing for me. I remember when I was half way through, I was ready to quit. Told my onc, I thought I had enough to kill any lingering cancer cells. I found the chemo hardest towards the end. Of course my onc looked at me like I was crazy! Convinced me to finished all the rounds. It is amazing, cause towards the end you get motivated. 2 more left? oh I can do 2 more. One more left, man oh man Im almost done. 0 left - celebration time. Good luck with your chemo today. Think I might just come along and tickle your feet!
Jeanette: What the heck is a sweat lodge lol? The tea sounds great. I drink green tea all the time with chamolille (spelling?). I have also started taking Vitamin C tablets and Zinc. I read on the alternative forum these are good for people who get colds alot. And I would say this household needs all it can get to combat colds.
Day 5 - still no symptoms! Could it be the flu shot I got 3 weeks ago protecting me? Or is the prayers I said. Ya know I bargain alot with God. Oh please if I dont get this cold I will truelly believe and be a better person!
I have once again decided Im gonna try and quit smoking. This bronchitis stuff stinks and I dont want to have it as a chronic problem. The only thing is, I am weak ladies. Very very weak! I have no self control when it comes to smoking. Im lighting up right as Im saying Im gonna quit!
Anyways, time to go. Gonna have a busy day. Marketing meeting. Disaster inservice. My job is making me take a series of inservices on what to do if there is a critical disaster. Even gonna get a certificate for it. And I have 5 hospitals scheduled to go to. But, I really enjoy being busy.
So have a wonderful day. Coffe and tea is on! I have lots of fruit and yogurt parfaits for everyone. Nice and healthy breakfast.

Sending sunshine to everyone. We've been having record-breaking temps. in the 90's here. Of course, I am still wearing my flip-flops.
lini0 -
LINI...FLIP FLOPS...OH...RUB IT IN!
LOL
If I wore flip flops this morning my toes would have frozen off by the time I got to work...lucky girl you are! Actually...how are you? You've been missed.
Supposed to be working so I'll be back later.0 -
Good morning from the frozen north of the circle! We had -12 degrees Fahrenheit last night! Yikes! I had to go turn a heat lamp on for my chickens. It got cold fast this winter.
I am having a better day. I had a little freak-out for 2 or 3 days panicking that my vertigo was a sign of brain mets .silly me! I just had a good old fashion cold with one of my ears plugged up. I had also gotten a wild hair and decided to back off on my Lexipro dosage. Between the two I managed to have a full-blown panic. I think I have a long way to go learning how to manage being done with my treatment .
I got caught up reading everyones posts, but didnt take notes. I am keeping you all close to my heart.
I had a bunch of people want to exchange holiday cards here is the plan. If you want to participate, just PM me your snail-mail address as well as your real name. I will compile a list and send it back to everyone who signs up. Does that sound OK to you guys? How about we try and have all the addresses by Thanksgiving. Im going to go clean out my PM mailbox so I have room 
I have declared today Be nice to yourself day!! I have nothing planned today (Shhhhh dont tell anyone!) so I am going to pamper myself. I am going to take a LONG hot shower, wear my fuzzy fleece robe all day, watch TV shows I taped but have not taken the time to watch and drink chi tea. So what are you going to do for yourself today ladies? Even if it is just a few minutes painting your nails or having a cup of coffee take time for YOU.
Hugs,
Deb C.0 -
Good afternoon ladies from the rainy end of the circle. Its a wet day here in Alabama and my wagon is soaked. Mazer hates rain so she has left me and is standing in the barn peeking out to see if I am bringing her some cinnamon honey grahams which she loves.
I didnt take notes as usual because I am sitting at work and trying to squeeze this in. Dont you just hate it when work interferes with play???
I do remember Deb asking what I am going to do for myself today and giving that some serious thought. Hmmmmm,,I will have to think some more on that. I never take time for me so thats a tough one. Also glad to hear you have gotten over your brain mets diagnosis and decided not to be Dr Deb and decide when to come off the lexipro. I know we dont like taking things but sometimes you are better off.
MB I know what you mean about building and the project never getting completed. I love building things though so its a never ending project regardless.
Ok just a quick note here and maybe can check back in later.
Keeping everyone in my thoughts!

Good Evening All: I have decided I need to exercise in the morning, so that is gonna cut down big on my computer time! I came home today and looked in the mirror. My jelly belly - well I look like Im ready to deliver a 10 pound baby. So you might see me in the evenings instead of the mornings. But then who knows, I am so unpredictable.
MB: Kung Fu night. Sounds like fun! Far out in the country eh? Trust me, I have so little control, I would find a way to get cigs - no kidding. Starting tonight, Im gonna try and limit my smoking to the living room. That means no cigs while I talking to you all and none in the bedroom. Lets see if I can make it throught the night.
Lini: You are so incredible. No wonder you have been missing in action. Geez, walking around in flip flops - sounds like summer! What are your Winters normally like?
Vicki: You are so funny. So even at work, busy as a bee and you still sneak a peak. I dont have computer access during the day. Im out driving around Chicagoland.
Deb: OK now that temperature sounds like Alaska. Between you and Lini there is a 102 degree difference in the weather. Now that is amazing to me. I was kind to myself by leaving work early, coming home and having a glass of wine, and getting some evening computer time. Im 11 months post chemo and Im still not over this whole journey. So dont be too hard on yourself. But lol, now is definitely not the time to give up the Lexapro!! I have been working on a Christmas project with plastic canvas. When I do this I sit Indian style for hours. So yesterday my thighs hurt. Did I blame in on poor posture. Nope, I was sure I had bone mets. Day to day girl, day to day.
Amy: Im laughing so hard at your description of Mazer the Tazer. Distorted Humor is in his barn too, but after his big week-end he is passed out!'
Ok, gotta go. Hoping Susan, Debbyfive, Mena, NS, Kristin, and so many more are doing ok.
Lynn: Im laughing cause there are probably some very good posts sitting in lala land. But geez, when it happens to you its frustrating. Its usually my good posts that disappear. Hope things are going well.
Nicki

WELL! Had a post to send but it said form no longer valid and disappeared!
Nicki-good luck with the quitting. IT's tough.
Deb- -12F BRRRRRR! Makes our little cold snap of 6F seem balmy by comparison. Enjoy your 'spa day'.
Amy-building your house sounds cool. Is it your own design too or a prefab, or what? Sounds like it will be surrounded by trees though.
Lini, I am jealous too. I can picture you (rightly or wrongly) walking on the beach in the sunshine in some bright coloured flops. Don't burn.
Hugs and prayers for everyone. Off to finish last years Christmas presents!!0 -
Nicki- You kicked cancer's butt...I'm sure you can kick the butts too Giving up cigs is hard. We will be here for you...no joke girl, you CAN do this. Get the help you need. Cut back for a few weeks then try the patch or something. You will feel SO good when you quit.
Off to soak my feet
Deb C.0 -
It is 2:35 pm and 94 degrees. Clear and beautiful. Yes, wearing my dressy sandals. Normal for this time of year is about 80. Don't live near the beach, but my daughter does. She said it is equally as beautiful there. That's why we are so crowded in sunny SoCal.

Well this is how hopeless I am. I already had a cig while I was at the computer. But starting now, from this very minute - Im not smoking except in the living room. I would say outside, but thats a sure way to quit cause its too darn cold.
Taking LauraGTO and putting her in the middle of the circle. Has to have another core biopsy and is scared. She posted in the reoccurance section and she needs our support - well - like now!
Nicki - the smoker
Nicki - the living room smoker
Nicki - the ex smoker!0 -
Hey Nicki...I'm trying to quit too...my boss gave me such a hard time today about my ONE cigarette. He told me he's going to bug me and ride me constantly until I give them up completely...It is soooo hard to stop! I have tried the patch...no luck. I can go all day at work with just one and sometimes if I'm really tired two but nights are hard!!
And yes...I pop in and out during work...it keeps me going. I just can't resist...its become an obsession to check and make sure everyone is ok.
Lini...My daughter is in sunny Florida...she rubs it in too!!!LOL...wants mom and little brother to move so bad but it isn't as easy as that.
Hugs all around...going to make sure my ex doesn't get the "judge" position...one way or another. Everyone is up in arms about it as he is well known for his abusive, nasty nature. There is a wonderful women running against him and I think we are going to make signs that say "Vote for Peggy...who will put men like Randy Armitage in jail"...yup...gettin mean in my old age! Come bail me out if I don't return.
love and hugs all around

I have dinner al ready ladies.
Halibut fried in butter with brussel sprouts from the garden. I have a nice cole slaw with cabbage and carrots from our garden and a nice sweet dressing with walnut oil and raisins. There are homemade biscuits in the oven and honey and raspberry jam to top them off. Desert is apple pie and cold milk.
Have a nice night all
Hugs,
Deb C0 -
Wow, Deb, that dinner sounds great. Thanks! I haven't had apple pie in a while, and didn't know how much I missed it until now!
Nicki, quitting is so hard, I know. But you can do it! Think of how much money you will save! You can accumulate what you would usually spend on smokes and use it to do something really nice for yourself. I am sure you have heard that idea before but it worked for a few friends of mine!
Lini, 94 degrees sounds so awesome right now! I have always been a cold person, but since starting chemo it seems worse. Except for when I get the hot flashes of course. I guess I just can't win with the temperature these days!
Hey, I am not a complete baldie yet. Is that normal? I just had AC #3 today. I am having treatments every 3 weeks, so I am already 6 weeks into treatment. I have bald patches, but still have some hair that actually grew a bit and my DH had to shave it again because it looked ridiculous. Plus, my leg hair is still growing too. Plus, I got my period on Friday. I asked my onc if he was sure the chemo was working... was thinking that if I still had hair and a period that maybe it wasn't strong enough? But he said 'Don't worry, it is working'. Should I believe him?
Hugs to all!
Kristin0 -
Good luck with the smoking Nicki, it's a tough habit to break. When I was dating my dh I was a total anti smoker, but he smoked. I convinced myself I didn't mind, but I lied. Our first few years, actually quite a few, had many battles. In the last 5 years I have finally been able to let go. He never smokes cigs in front of me or the kids, only cigars (so much better, hah) I guess what I'm trying to say is, I know how hard it is, and how hard it is to be around people who are against it. I hope you can quit, but we love you anyway!
0 -
Kristin...my leg hair continued to grow until chemo #4 so I wouldn't worry about that...I buzzed my head but still had patches that didn't go away. My chemo worked really well...shrunk the tumors to almost nothing and I had clean margins with my bilateral mast so my oncologist was really happy. I wouldn't worry too much. I had my period until chemo #3 then it stopped for good.
Oh Deb...dinner sounds wonderful.
Have a wonderful night ladies
Sweet dreams
Love

Hi All
I had a wonderful long post all ready and it disappeared on me when I hit submit. New to these boards and just learning.
Congrats to all who got good news
Prayers for those waiting for news
Hugs for those feeling sick, down or in pain
You ladies are always in my thoughts and prayers
CherylG0 -
Thank you, Vickie, I feel much better knowing it happened to someone else too! My tumor was removed so I have nothing to measure the success of the treatment with! But your story is very comforting. Thanks!

Hi CherylG,
I'll add your name! (since you asked 3 times LOL) The stars are just because we are all beautiful fantastic stars!!!
Nicki, I'll get you through quitting smoking if you help me with my knee surgery. Glad you haven't come down with the bug.
I love my Lexapro.
Lini, good to see you.
xo
Susan
Ok Cheryl you have been added. the stars are on page 84 on my computer. You are in the top row.0 -
Evening girls,
Cheryl, welcome. Glad you've joined us. Yep cyberspace here can be tricky.
Nicki, okay girl here's the deal. I quit and so can you. I did the patches and LOTS of sugar free life savers. It's hard as you know what but if you're mind is set to do it you'll get through it.
Kristin, I never lost my leg hair! Hope #3 treats you well. I was tired during chemo also. Rest and listen to your body (like you haven't heard that before).
Deb, I PM'd you my info. What a nice, wonderful idea you came up with. Dinner was wonderful as always. Thanks so much. Glad you had a "you" day. We all deserve those occassionally.
Lini, wow what wonderful weather. Weather here is so iffy. We're having an Indian Summer right now. Can't put any clothes up to store yet.
Lynn, my posts are floating in cyberspace alot lately.
MB, let me know if you like the cheesecake. LOL
Robin, okay hon, start making a list of what you're plan of attack will be when you're ready to boot the old guy out. Doesn't hurt to be pre-prepared. Hugs
I spent all day at the hospital with my MIL who had her Kyphoplasty procedure on her back. She was doing well when I left at 8:30 this evening. She should be released tomorrow. I have to take my FIL to see his Urologist tomorrow afternoon to see what's the next step for him. He has nerve damage to the bladder and has urinary incontinence now. Geez, hope my mom stays well. My dh will be staying with his parents the rest of the week since his sister has to go home and start packing as she's moving and has to be out of her house by the end of the month. Thank goodness dh is on vacation.
I've missed many again, so know you're all in my thoughts and prayers.
Hugs
Liz
