Hi everybody.  Thanks for all your kind words of encouragement.

I took the weekend off from Breast Cancer.  Saw my girlfriends from High School(1978) on Friday night.  Went out for a fancy dinner with my DH on Saturday night and went to the neighbors house today for a wingfest. Spent the entire afternoon outside consuming vitamin D.   It felt good to be busy doing fun things.

My next chemo (#5 TAC) is Tuesday.  ARGH!  Back to the grind.  But I am almost done.  And I have good things to look forward to.  Navyson and DIL are hoping to come home for Christmas and I have already made reservations to go to see them in Jacksonville in the end of January :)

Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

    Hi all,

Just popping in-- take 2 on the breast MRI tomorrow am.  And I'm fresh out of flu-land (not sure if it was h1n1-- crappy whatever it was.).   Expect a very angst-ridden week. The waiting turns me inside out.

Echo on the beautiful weather this weekend.  Couple of kid funnies....The Bishop visited our church this am and as I walked my 7 year old to his classroom, he just about ran headfirst into him.  I made Tim stop, say hello and the Bishop kindly asked him how he was doing.  Not good, Tim confessed. And why is that? I don't want to be here, it's boring and  my mom's making me go.  I can feel my face turn beet red, but the Bishop just roars with laughter and tells Tim he appreciated his honesty.  Nice man.

My daughter had a bowling birthday party this afternoon-- hated being in dark bowling alley this gorgeous day-- but she had been looking forward to it all week.  Beth bowled her first strike. Unfortunately, she had become confused and bowled one lane over-- adding nicely to the score of the man next to us. He was very decent about it.

Always something to laugh about with these two...

Hello Jan Clare.  Sorry I'm not from Illinois, but Indiana, so kind of close.  Also my husband's sister lives in Bloomington, Illinois, so we do travel there about once a year.  Anyway, I found two of your posts as I was doing a search to find "someone" on here who had used, "Bard Special Care Cream" during radiation treatments.  I've only had four rad treatments so far.  They gave me samples of this cream, and said it would be better to use this than just aloe vera, as the Bard cream has vitamins A, B, D, and E in it that I would need down the road.  As I looked at the ingredients however, I was concerned to see that it has alcohol in it.  I know that my doctor is execellent in his field, and would only want to use what he thinks is best; but I like to corroborate things by seeing what folks who actually use the stuff for radiation are saying about it.  So, did you have any problems at all with burning etc. using the Bard, and did you use that solely or something else.  Also do you know anyone else who used it with good experiences?  I look forward to hearing from you.  Thank you.  P.S.  regarding other Illinois affiliations, I went to Emmaus Bible school which used to be in Oak Park, Illinois back in the mid seventies; and then I went to Trinity College, in Deerfield, Illinois to get my degree in elementary education.  I grew up in Milwaukee, Wis. Love visiting Chicago.  Lake Michigan looks so pretty there, and I love seeing all the sites in Chicago.

    Hi Girls!

Janet - Welcome! I used Aquaphor and it worked great for me. My skin turned a little pink, but no burning whatso ever. Best wishes to you. Feel free to hang with us.

Julie - OMG - Your kids are too funny! lol Please continue to share their stories with us.

bj - Thanks for getting the invites out!

Wendrew - Yes dear - I'm here! I lol at your story! OMG - what a sight that must have been.

Little C - I would love to see you on the 5th!

    --------------------------

I hope all of you will be joining us on Dec 5th - if any of you didn't receive an invitation, please pm me or blackjack.

I've been keeping busy - Mom's coming over today to stay overnight...can't wait to see her. We always have fun together.

This is so sad: My niece, Shelby, was being bullied at school. Two mean girls turned most of the other girls against her. They ignored her during school and caused fights with her after school. The principal said he could only take action if the girls verbally or physically abused her during school hours. Shelby was crying every morning before school and then she just flat out begged to not have to go. My sister transferred her to a Catholic school last week. I just hope these girls don't go to the same highschool next year! What's with girls nowadays? They are so mean! Arghhhhh!

    Have a nice day!

Good morning everyone.  A little overcast outside -- Oh where is my sun, but will be nice overall.  Will be another long day of auction goods movement and movement of leaves from the yard as well.  Dh goes to work at 1 p.m. so need an early start on it all.  I am getting quite anxious to have the auction things behind me....auction is on the 14th.  Don't have to worry....another nice sized project will then move into place.  At least life is fairly predictable now and I find a lot of comfort in that.

Hope you all had a fantastic week-end.  I loved the sun and warmth....really needed to soak it up as it will have to last for awhile.  I'll be checking back in later.  See you then.

P.S. Remember to laugh if you can't go the gym or the golf course.

    Hugs, Jackie

    Hi ladies -

Had a horrible cold last week but feel much better now. I'm confident it wasn't the flu.  DD got it too but we both feel tons better today.  I wish our school offered the flu shot.  Our pediatrician has no stock left.  They get a shipment in and the appts are gone in a couple hours.

Elf -sorry you are unhappy. Do give it some time.  Did you have radiation (I can't remember)?  I was not happy with my recon as the radiation caused my skin to be tight and it flattens the breast.  He put more cc's in than he took out but it still looked smaller than my good one.  The size was good but it has no projection like the good side.  Dr. said he couldn't do anything about the radiated side but he could adjust my good side.  I didn't want him to touch my good side, so I have gotten an insert for my bra and now they look even.  It bothered me at first that I had to do that after having surgery, but I don't even really think about it anymore now that they look the same.  Good luck to you!

Wendy - love the Halloween story.  Too funny.  No problem on Farmville - I'm addicted to that game.  It fun because you can go on it for 2 minutes, plant some crops and come back the next day when they are all grown.  I did notice that your strawberries were all shriveled up and dead!

Little C - good to see you and glad to hear you are doing well.

I am planning on coming to the Xmas party.  Got the invitation on Saturday when it was 70 degrees.  I saw the red envelope and I truly though someone was crazy enough to be sending out Xmas cards already!

Laura - so sorry about Shelby.  I agree - girls are just sooooo mean!  I found middle school to be just the worst and things got much better in high school since it was so much bigger.  I hope she is doing ok.

    Julie - love your stories!

    Have a great day everyone!

NavyMom, I see you are on TAC. How you feeling on it? I had a pretty tough time. Felt like I was going mad.

Laura - Girls are VERY mean and Cady!! Way worse then they used to be. It's too bad your niece can't go to a Catholic High School. I don't know where they live, but there's Carmel Catholic High School. Can't wait to see you again too!

Wendy - Glad your neighbors are unnoticeable. Or are they just... wearing the invisibility cloak? Waiting to pounce....

Illinois Lady - I've got something to send you.... It will knock your socks off.

    GOOD LUCK JULIE!

ZAP/Susan - one step at a time dear! Lets go 10 years, then shoot for 20....

RitaJ - hope all is well...

Blackjack - how's the thyroid? Mine bothers me every time I play Rockband w/ my daughter (sing) the pain goes to my ear of the same nodules side....

Hi gals!  Gosh I leave you alone on here for the weekend and I have nearly 2 pages to read when I get back on!  Wasn't this weather beautiful this weekend?  I did make it to the golf course on Friday and we FINALLY finished most of the leaves just as it was getting dark on Saturday night.  What a good job completed!  There will still be a few more blow in but they won't take long to remove and won't cause any harm if I don't remove them.

Little C...so good to hear from you again and so glad that everything is going well for you!

Welcome poetjanet!  You can join in with us anytime.  I'm from Bloomington.

Connie, glad that the cold is better.  I have finally gotten over most of my allergy problems.  I'm still taking allergy meds because the leaves and other environmental factors still cause stuffiness, etc. but the coughing and drainage is finally gone.

Blackkjack.....do you have all your flu shots administered to your school kids or is that still in the near future?   Do you do a fluoride program for teeth at your school?  The kids used to call is Swish and Spit!   LOL

Well, I need to sweep up another pile of lady bugs.  That's been an endless task here in the woods.  At least we finally found a product to kill them but there's a new batch by all the windows and doors each day.

    Catch you all later.

Rita - I forgot to mention that my son was in Bloomington this weekend on a boy scout campout.  They were at Upper Limits - some climbing facility.  I saw a picture of him climbing one of the outside walls - it was apparently 120 feet high and he was the fastest climber on it.  I almost fainted when I saw how high this thing was.   Just thought you might know where this was!

Finally feeling better after 16 days of the flu.  It's nice to feel human again!

I saw my onco today.  He said everything looks good.  I was a little concerned about a CA 27.29 result of 42.  I think it is high (July it was 25), but he seemed okay with it.  Good enough in fact to schedule my port removal for a week from tomorrow.  At this point, I am happy to be getting it out. Although I may feel differently in a couple of days.  For those of you that have had ports removed, is there any recovery time?  I think I read some place that it is a quick surgery.

Wow!  I am in Springfield in a ritzy hotel we got for little through  Hotwire.  The Lincoln Museum was wonderful!  I passed through so many towns that many of you live in (near).

Laura, I am sick about your niece.  I met her and I thin(and I taught 8th grade for 20 years) is simply the coolest girl.  That is probably why they bullied her.  They know she is cool.  She told me at that brunch she had two good friends.  Did they stand by her? OMG, this makes me sick.  Little C. you are right, it is all so much worse among girls today.  I have to wonder why.  Whatever is the point?

I am glad most are getting better. This flu scares me.

Good morning.  Leaves, leaves everywhere and hardly a one upon the trees.  They are bare sentinels now.  We are able to see just what a little piece of the wodds our house is actually in at this time of year.  I worked on the yard for over four hours and not to big a dent.....well, maybe some more today.  Will be another long day.  Much to do including auction goods.

Susan....I would have loved your museum/Springfield trip.  I must confess I have always meant to go to Springfield, but just haven't made it yet.  Maybe after the auction.  Funny that it can be almost as difficult to go somewhere 75 to 100 miles away in your own state as it is to go anywhere else.

I think there was some cruelty in my day  --  probably always has been, but I think there are fewer limits to it now and a very big status symbol ( how backward ) for the one who insures that it takes place.  It is hard to imagine that doing these things brings any decent feeling of accomplishment and as well, I think someday this person will look back with what I truly hope is very, very deep regret for the actions taken now.

Well, on to my day.  It spoke of possible rain, but thankfully it sounds like it will just look dreary and miss up.  I'd rather have sun as that is a given for me if I want to bloom but I will just have to make do and turn on the light.  Hope you enjoy your day WendyTY now that the yucky flu is gone.  Such a long time to deal with it...you have grit.

Little C....I'm waiting for my socks to disappear.

See you all later when I stop in.

The moment when you first wake up in the morning is the most wonderful of the twenty-four hours.  No matter how weary or dreary you may feel, you possess the certainty that, during the day that lies before you, absolutely anything may happen.  And the fact that it practically always doesn't, matters not a jot.  The possibility is always there.  ~Monica Baldwin

Good morning friends.  Hope you all had a marvelous day yesterday and I wish you the same today.  Not sure about my first moment in the a.m. but I do know I love ( especially on these cooler mornings ) the moments of half awake -- half asleep reverie as I try to recall if I'm thinking about something that just then came into my head...or the dream I might have been finishing up just as I awoke.  I snuggle down just a bit further into the covers and just drift with my eyes closed.  Not sure...am I hoping for an errant happy thought or for a great epiphany.  Maybe that is what Monica is really talking about - that surge of pure life energy that helps bring you awake and turns into the flower of the day.

Once again today ( actually hallelujah this is it ) we take the final load or loads to the auction house and then come what may....Saturday all these goods will hopefully go to someone who can and will actually use them.  I had this ahem brilliant idea over three years ago before my life was so rudely and un-expectedly put on detour mode.  It is just such a good feeling to be finally "getting there".  I did have the thought that in many ways I am behind a couple of years in the sense that many things -- just like the auction did get put on hold....and I am still working on cleaning and other projects.  Some will only begin in earnest now that all these items are gone.  I am the kind that likes to wash from top to bottom -- and that has not happened for about three years now and is long past time.

Someone just told me that Appleby's is giving away a free meal to Veterans today.  What a nice thing to do.

Hoping you all have a spectacular day.  Lots of my favorite sun today but will be on the cool side.

    Hugs, Jackie

p.s.  Little C --- I am still  listening and thinking.  So very interesting.

Hi Girls! Just checking in. I have been happily spending my days in the forest, chopping firewood, burning leaves. I love being out there - especially knowing that the bees are gone for the season! YEAH!

Thanks for all your posts about little Shelby. It really is so mean and such a shame. The principal contacted my sister, told her he was terribly upset that Shel will no longer be at his school and said her attendance was a pleasure...not only what he knew of her, but he said her teachers agreed. Two days after Shel left the school, two of the mean girls verbally abused one of Shel's pals (during school hours). Both of them were suspended. I really wish Shel could go to a Catholic HS next year...but there is no way my sis can afford it. And unfortunately, with dh and I both being unemployed...we cannot make any financial commitments. Geesh...Cath HS's are so expensive!

I will be there tomorrow night! The more the merrier!

To the girls who haven't posted in a while...HOPE YOU'RE ALL DOING WELL! And even if you don't post often...please feel free to come to our Holiday Party on December 5th...pm bj or me for the details!

    Hi:

I am unable to go to dinner tomorrow as I have my last (YAHOO) physical therapy session.  I have been doing this for awhile and I am happy to say my hip is great.  I have discovered that this (like the back) may be a lifelong thing and so I just ICE UP when it acts up

Laura, Catholic High School is not always the answer to the bullying, although it may help.  I think this is a weird thing that is happening among our girls.  I did sub today and a vet came to speak.  He said that we all just have to practice some kindness...no more preaching on kindness....just acting on it. School was in session as the board feels that kids can learn more about a concept  (in this case Veteran's Day) in school with speakers/activities than at home playing video games. After today, I get the reasoning.

I love the stories Julie tells.  What great kids you have, Julie.  I am waiting to hear your news and wish you well as you move through the week.

Wendy, I am glad you got the shots.  I got the seasonal but I do not have the swine one available to me.  Where did you get it?

Jackie, I saw all those towns (Mt. Vernon, Marion, etc) you have mentioned as I studied the map going to Springfield.  I love maps!  I know they are further south.

Laura, I talked with some ladies today at school about juicers and I am going to look into one.In the past I haven't had time to do juicing, but I hear so many good things about it.  Spoke to a woman who is on the "No White" diet (not just for weight, but for feel good) and so she has nothing white.  That is kinda huge.  That means no milk products and that means no yogurt and no cheese.  That could be hard for me!  So i will start with juicing.

    Have fun tomorrow!

    Hey everyone,

MRI results are back and they are ok....a very small fibroadenoma was identified in the remaining breast (I've had several) and surgeon felt strongly it was unnecessary to biopsy it as it demonstrates "all benign characteristics." I am asked, however, to repeat the test in 6 mo to make sure it's not growing.  I guess I'm okay with that.  Just worn out with worrying.

I won't be able to join you tomorrow night- son has boy scouts and I've promised my daughter some "Mom and Beth" time.  I am advised that we are to make cookies. "You cook them, Mom and I will eat them." Hoping I will see you at Jan Clare's in December.

Tim came home today and informed us that it is Vegetarians day and it's "the day we remember dead people who saved the world."    Foot in mouth

    Hoping everyone is well...

Hooray-Hooray -- everything that is going is at the auction house.  I'm exhausted somewhat, and you know....it looks like we were moving out almost.  A little pile of junk here, a handful of discarded papers there -- some cleaning rags elsewhere and some small dirt piles and dirt streaks where some of these things were sitting for too long waiting to get on the truck.  If I had to move one more thing I think I'l cry.

Susan...I just put a brand-new and un-used Jack Lalane ( ? sp? ? ) juicer in my auction goods.  Just figured I would not use it so might as well see that someone who might gets it for themselves.  I do think it is a very healthy thing to do, but I just would not be able I think to discipline myself -- very good though if you like to fast for any reason.  Used to do that when I was a lot younger, but not good for me now.

Well, I need to do some laundry and get a shower so I'll see you all tomorrow.

Hope you are all feeling well and looking forward to the big feast day.

    Good morning gals!

Julie...so glad to hear that your results were good!  I'd been thinking about you!

Michele101...Nice to see a post from you.  You gave Julie good advice about writing down her kids' comments.  Isn't it amazing?  We think we'll never foget them, but as the years progress, they do go by the wayside.  I'm trying to write down things that my grandkids do and say for them in hopes that they will enjoy reading them someday.

Jackie, it sounds like you have been one busy lady!  I hope the auction goes well for you.

Connie...Oh my gosh!  I do know where the Upper Limits is in Bloomington. It is an awesome place but I'd be petrified to rappel down those walls.  It's a LONG way up there.  Did they take your group up in the elevator and they just came down or did they do the climb, too?  I don't like heights anyway so I'd NEVER make it.

Well I had a busy day yesterday...bowling and bunco and today appears to be just as busy.  I need to get moving as I have a dentist appointment this morning to check out an area that has become sensitive to hot and cold and then a hair appointment this afternoon.  The weather is supposed to be lovely again here today.

I hope everyone is feeling well.

QUESTION:   Sido, Annette, Tanya, WendyTY, Jackie....or anyone else in the Bloomington area.....Is anyone else interested in going to the Christmas party at Jan Clare's on the 5th and would like to car pool together?

    Catch you all later.........

Hey Everyone..Just a note to let you know that I am still here...Been having low blood pressures and low white blood cell count but they take care of it right away so I only feel bad for a day or so.  I have a cat scan on Monday.  Will get the results the within an hour or two and I see the doctor, then get chemo all in one day.  I am hoping this is working and can continue on the same path.

I will be coming up to Bloomington around Dec 7.  My dh needs to go into work for a few days.  I will just miss the party on the 5th but hope you all have fun...

    Ginny,

Its so good to hear from you.  I have been thinking about you lately, hoping that all is going well for you.  It sounds like you have a great team taking care of you now.  You are missed at the Bosom Buddies outings.

Hope that CAT scan has good results.Keep taking good care of you!

Rita, I won't be able to go to JanClare's party as much fun as it sounds.  I am working on the Boys & Girls Club Toy Box Auction on Friday all day & evening and then we have plans with friends Saturday evening for dinner & concert in Gibson City.  I will be fresh off Festival of Trees so probably would not be much fun any way. I won't make dinner at OG for Bosom Buddies next week because of Festival.

WendyTY-glad to hear you are better.  Getting your port out will be a triumphant day..the end of a very long journey..congrats!

Everyone should get out and get a dose of the sunshine.  It makes everything seem so much better.
