Morning! Well....how dare you all have such a good time without me????
Laura....I assume that was a wig?? You are so cute either way but I have to say I like blonde better! Hoping yr sister's surgery was successful.
Jan....your house is so pretty! I see you have radiator heat - had that in my last house and I grew up with radiators. I sure miss them - was always so great to warm up the boots and mittens. My bears are pouting as well - I promised them a big party and they got to watch me, watch TV.
Blackjack - sorry I missed yr call...Tom took me out for lunch to a dark restaurant. Not so much for the lighting, but because I was wearing glasses and no eyemakeup! Vanity strikes! And again - sorry that you got stuck with my food part!
Karin - I see you never made it. Are you OK?
Pat - looking good as always! Glad you were able to make it - how was your big Do last night?
Connie - I must not have seen you in a while - your hair is long!!!
Michele, Lisa, Julie, Sharon....looking great as always!
Jan...again....thank you so much for opening your home!
My eye is the same but the more I read about it, the more common I find it is. I know chemo (and herceptin) can cause eye problems but I've been done with both for years now so I don't think that was it. Just old age, nearsightedness and just maybe - the arimidex didn't help. I am so bored tho, "resting" this eye that I am going back to driving at least. I have to still do shopping and I see - dang it - that I will have to get gas/oil for the snowblower. Last I heard, depending on the storm track, we could get 6-10 inches - more so towards the N. So...JanClare and Laura - LOOK OUT!!!!!
(Pat - still laughing about labor/delivery (waaaaaay too old for that) and constipation (hello - I take magnesium every day) as causes for my eye problem!)
(Kater - fingers crossed for your scan - since you had a change in bowel habits, and your age, and your hx of bc, can't believe yr ins doesn't want to pay for yr colonoscopy. Jeepers...)

If you hate snow......
If you love snow - this is pretty.
Personally - rather be on a beach with some palm trees myself....

OK...was doing a little more reading about this eye business and what not to do ...I thought this was funny
No fast acceleration, as in drag racing or bungee jumping.
Well.....shucks....just what I usually do on Sundays.....

OH DARN! I was going to let your borrow the GOAT today! Shucks!

AND ALSO...the ONLY thing wrong with that snowman photo: THE NOOSE IS NOT TIGHT ENOUGH! Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...0

So interesting about the eye....but a little comforting to know that it is somewhat widespread and not some thing that just turned up out of the blue and nothing much known about it. Still, it does sound somewhat un-avoidable to those it happens too. Healing thoughts coming your way for your exam Wendy.
Quite chilly here too. Hate to think of the possibilities, and sorta think we may have snow for Christmas this year. We don't have the new dog pen as yet, but very soon. The support poles are up....just need the fencing and gate.
With the House of Hope now open, we will take Molly ( our cross-eyed foster dog ) up there. She is such a sweetie and I know we are going to miss her. Still though she needs a permanent home as does Buddy.
Another work day today, but not too hard. Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday in store.
Hugs, Jackie

something a little different -- I saw it and loved it.
"Then he sighed and groaned; but his voice was weak
He was so ashamed that he could not speak.
He knew at last that he had been a fool,
To think of breaking the forest rule,
And choosing a dress himself to please,
Because he envied the other trees.
But it couldn't be helped, it was now too late,
He must make up his mind to a leafless fate!
So he let himself sink in a slumber deep,
But he moaned and he tossed in his troubled sleep,
Till the morning touched him with joyful beam,
And he woke to find it was all a dream.
For there in his evergreen dress he stood,
A pointed fir in the midst of the wood!
His branches were sweet with the balsam smell,
His needles were green when the white snow fell.
And always contented and happy was he,
The very best kind of a Christmas tree."

I'm so glad to see that everyone had such a fun time at the holiday party. I had told JanClare that I was waiting to see what time my niece was performing her solo dance competition before I would know if I could come or not. Well turns out I missed BOTH!
Around 2am Friday morning, we ended up taking my daughter to the ER. Long story short, she was admitted for H1N1 and pneumonia - her asthma (which, we THOUGHT, she was mostly grown out of) was the worst I'd ever seen it. Thank goodness we didn't just wait until morning like we wanted to do, because I had no idea she also had a pneumonia brewing. I was able to stay with her in her room Friday night, as if I'd do anything else! Not surprisingly, I woke up with a case of it myself yesterday while still in the hospital. I started the Tamiflu right away and it does appear to be helping me have a much milder case than she has.
Anyway, she was released yesterday afternoon, but is still a very sick cookie. I had a rough night (fever, aches, etc) but the Tamiflu seems to be helping a lot. Or perhaps, it's just that I don't have asthma like she does, so I'm doing better. When they talk about those with "underlying conditions" really needing the vaccine - BELIEVE IT. She was actually scheduled to get her H1N1 vaccine on Friday. Lousy timing on my part.
So, I am sorry to have missed the festivities, but I am glad everyone had such a great time. I'm heading back to my couch now...

Thank you for sharing the great pictures from the party. It's still not as good as being there but they were so neat of all of you! I'm so glad you had a good time and had the opportunity to share an afternoon together. Each and every one of you is gorgeous and I'm so bummed that things didn't work out where I could join you!
We are heading out for the Sunday night bowling league but had to check in and see the pictures and tell you all how much I missed not being there with you.
More tomorrow..............

Renee I am so sorry to hear about your daughter -- and you too, but how scary for a mom. Glad you didn't wait and did get to the ER. Also remember the older you are the more likely you are to have at least some immunity already present, but the young ones have none at all....so it is harder for them -- and my general understanding is that they do not have problems with the flu as such but the underlying conditions and secondary infections that take hold in the "flu" environment.
Sending warmth and healing to both of you.
Hugs, Jackie

WOW!!! Ladies!!!what a great time you must of had as it is seen in the pic!!!!LOVE the happy faces and to see you are all sharing such a great time together!! You all look GREAT!!!! One of these times, i will get to one of these get togethers.
Jackie,.. Your rescue event sounds wonderful and glad it was a good time. I use to do this with GOLDEN rescuing and love the work when i did it.Love it too, when dogs find that special family and home!!!!
Getting ready for a musical at my church with my sunday school kids.. we have dress rehearsal this Saturday and then Sunday it is it!
I am afraid to say this AS i do not want this to be a fluke..BUT.. drumroll please...I SLEPT LAST Night with NO ALERT/wide awakeness~!!!Slept until 5:30 versus 4:45... major for me!!!! I also have been reading how this flight'flight feeling i have been experiencinfg during the day is a symptom of post traumatic stress AND anxiety! My anxiety is off the charts and then the DR puts me on all these different meds and now i realize i have more than one thing goin on. SLEEP is disturbed by some much of the after math of chemo and for me. .. i am still kind of stuck in the past pattern of how i was sleeping during treatment. AND i feel stuck!!! I am doin ALL what the Sleep Specialist has me doin and it is a new pattern emerging.
Work is goin to be very minimal for me this week, as i am more concerned to get this new pattern set for me.I finally feel free and more myself in peace and oneness .. and it is just goin on 6 mos post chemo. HOPE this is continues as i am realizing i put way too much pressure on myself, trying to do it all as i am definelty still healing, I was not listening to anyone, just doin and doin and set myself deeper in a anxiety state anb sleep was impossible in that state!!!
Who here needs help coming out of chemo i think needs to be addressed, as it is a dark hole or it has been for me.. and each of us have to go thru it in their own way. Think i want to help in this area as i get stronger and sleep is truly restored!!! I have been a vicitim in my own way and have to take ownership of it now as i understand more and realize this stress syndrome has to be broken, not me!!!!!
SNOW is coming.. hmmm. and then 9 degrees forcasted for Thurs. PM..Arizona could be a move for sure right now..lol.
Be well all and healthy wishes.

Rene.....Take care of yourself and your daughter. That stuff is just down right nasty! I am so sorry that you've both been "under the weather."
Donna...so glad you got a good night of sleep! It sounds like you have a good grip on what might be causing this sleep pattern. I'm sure that you're going to be able to work this out. Hang in there and give yourself time to heal!
Karin....so sorry that you missed the ladies' outing but it sounds like you were having a good time.
Wendy...hope your eye is doing better!
Now as for this upcoming snow....you are more than welcome to keep it up north gals! LOL I need to get to Peoria on Tuesday for the ever nerve-wracking mammo and check-up and I don't do well driving in the snow anymore. Isn't it strange that I drove 50 miles one way to work for 33 years through snow, sleet, rain, and anyting that mother nature threw at us. Now I literally dread the challenge! Maybe we will get lucky and it will hold off until Tuesday night!
Annette...so sorry that you've had one thing after another happening in your life lately but it sounds like things are finally starting to go your way. Is there any chance that might be able to join the Bosom Buddies for the Christmas gathering in Bloomington? We'd love to see you again.
Well, I need to find my recliner and my book. This time I picked up a mystery book by Linda Grant and I've found another good author. I've been selecting a book by an author that I've never read each time I visit the library and I'm so glad! I was in a rut with the same ol' authors!
Have a great Monday ladies!!!
Rita

Morning...well, well, well. Anywhere from 6-12 inches of snow out here in the Fox River Valley. And then single digits.
Rita...that's what I started doing at the library about 2 months ago - some authors are good, and some - well - I finish the book but I don't read anymore of theirs.
Jackie...will you be getting any snow from this system? I don't think so....
Buddy, Elfsong - how are you guys doing? You haven't checked in a bit....
WendyTY - how did the port removal go?
Karin....WHAT? You traded playing with a baby and visiting with family and you missed our Very Important Party??? And I gotta say - you come to town and WAM...snow. Uh...could you just stay in Oregon until June????
Hope you all have a great Monday - I am off to the gym, just to do my back exercises and visit with my friends as I won't be seeing them every day after the 15th. Then to the Jewel, with a stop for gas and oil....I guess I will be needing the blower. Stay well...and warm...and dry. Buck up, I'm sure spring is just around the corner.
Ha.

Good morning gals! So glad you kept the brunt of the snow up your way. We've got a white covering on the ground but nothing that's amounted to too much yet. Dave called on his way to work to tell me that the country roads were slick and he'd seen a few cars in the ditch but that the highways were clear. I know that I'm bah humbug but this is the kind of snowfall that I like....none of the deep fluffy stuff like you have!
I'm spending the day around the house again....writing questions, wrapping a few more packages (I've about got them tackled), making meatloaf for dinner tonight, and organizing another closet. Sounds exciting, eh?
Everyone be careful today on your way to work or when you're out and about. There are usually lots of crazy people out there during the first snowfall of the season.

A glorious good morning everyone -- ok, we don't have any sun yet and there is a layer of snow on the ground. It was neat to watch coming down in the dark last night though. Knew it would not be much, but still just not quite ready. I'll --warm-- up to the idea, ahem. Guess we could end up with a nice white X-mas this year.
Rita, the meatloaf sounds good -- maybe I'll come to your house for dinner. I get in a rut about fixing things and months and months go by and I don't end up making some of the things I love.
As winter is coming it may actually increase my reading somewhat. There again I seem to go in spurts on these things -- as far as reading though I think it is more the fact of so much to do and since Teeny became a member of the household I now end up with two dogs in my lap and a cat or two as well. Hard to balance a book, glance at the t.v. and keep all the pets balanced just so. I may have to make some new rules here.
Donna -- fingers crossed. At least you can see that it will work and that you can with some guidance get into a system/pattern that will work for you. Since I generally have always slept fairly well my reality on these kinds of issues are not too good, but from the occasional sleepless period I have had I do see that it could be exhausting and a negative lop-sided balance to it. So onward and upward for you.
Karin..you have to do better next time, ok.
\Hope you all will have a good day. I wonder about a few here and there too....like Carol/Berrypatch etc. Hi to everyone -- you may not get to come here much but someone still thinks about you and wishes you well. See you all later.
Hugs, Jackie
p.s. I removed a quote up above -- had the dreaded funny marks etc. I'll go find another.

Do It Anyway
People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior
motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and
true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

Jan, Thanks so much for having us all to your beautiful home. We talked and ate, and ate and talked, and could go on forever.
Thanks also to BJ and Laura for all the work you did to make our holiday party such a success.
We missed you Karin, but sounds like you had lots of fun where you were.
Missed you too, Wendy, and hope the eye is much improved today. Wish you all could have been there, but there will be more lunches to come.
Jackie, it sounds like you have your hands full with all your furry friends. Have you ever heard of a shelter called SafeHaven? My sister is on the board, and does a lot of work with them. She is the enrichment director, as the animals in captivity need stimulation to keep healthy.
Donna, so glad you got a good night's sleep, and hope for many more. I think this need should be better addressed by all the docs.
By the way, I only have a light dusting of snow, and no clean up needed. We did get gas for the blower though, and are prepared for later in the week.
Be safe everyone, and have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies!
I go today to see the oncologist to find out my next steps in treatment and I think I'm more nervous about this than I was the surgery. Go figure right?
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one here that doesn't care for the cold. So far no snow here but I know it's coming... soon!
Buffy

Buffy, thinking of you today, along with all the others.

Hey Buffy....that nervous feeling that you are experiencing is perfectly normal. Please let us know what you find out at the onc. We will be thinking about you today.

Buffy, I too was nervous upon visiting the oncologist for the first time. My husband went with me and he listened carefully to what was being said. So much of that time is now a blur and lost, and so it is wise to bring someone with you. Let us know what he/she says. YOu will have so much support here an it sounds like you are connected to a church with people who care about you.
Donna, I am not going to jinx anything by mentioning you know what!
I am working too much for a retired lady. I am taking time for fun and as I mentioned at the party, I am doing so much online shopping. I love coming home to stuff at the door...still have to wrap all those things.
I have been coming on here looking for Ginny. I miss her.
Have a good week!

I'm NOT JINXING IT EITHER!
Buffy - I hope all went well today! My first visit to the Onc was one of the scariest days of my life. Hang in there!

Rita...Please be safe getting to your mammo appt IF it is snowing! Thinking of you!!
Buffy...Know it is a challenging time as I think all of us can concur that some parts of the treatment being dictated for us is scarier than the surgery as with surgery, it is pretty cut and dry. With treatment we go to the the worse possible scenario and beleive me, been there and know your concerns. Whatever questions you will have, or concerns.. we are here!
GOIN to work tomm and Susan.. i was not goin to work but my favorite school requested me and could not say no. DID sleep last night with wake ups butAGAIN. it is shhhhh until i see this as a good pattern that is staying !Been also loggin my hot flashes and it is interesting to see the pattern. Could be part of sleep issue also and it is all hard to isolate what is distrubing the cylce overall.
My GOLDEN Liberty has another hotspot the size of Montana on her leg. On antibiotic and hoping this helps as i hate putting her on Predisone. She is out puppy raised Golden and is such a sassy and spoiled baby at 12 years old!!!The other two just love to be good and close to MOM with out the drama that Liberty usually causes!!!!lol..
Good thoughts goin for all those in TX, DR appts and tests... hang tough as we are Roaring Warrior Princesses;s!
Hugs,

Morning....I see we are not going to be spared. The snow is falling as I type. I have to run a few errands...OK...lots of stops. I forgot to get salt, among other stuff. Hope the blower starts...
Buffy - how did you make out yesterday at the onc's? I hated going that first time, sitting in the waiting room, looking at all the little bald people. And yes, did you ever notice that bald people look little??? Never thought it would be me, sitting there. I have to say - I did get used to it. If we can help, or you just want to bounce some questions off of us....or you just need a shoulder, well - that's why Rita started this thread. Hugs!
Susan....yes, isn't online shopping FUN!!!! I love getting packages! Is your cold all gone? I miss Ginny too!
Laura - send out the searchlight for Ginny, okay? Ya know, it might be nice to have DH around for the big snows - you can just stay inside and have the hot cocoa ready!
Irene - how's your daughter feeling? How scary for you. And on that note - how are you???? I was lucky and was able to get the H1N1 vaccine in mid-October over on Rt 59 at that CDH conv. care center in Bartlett. Was just there to see the bs and I asked, and they had just gotten it in that am...good timing I guess for me.
Well....the snow is piling up so I am going to stop for now and get going...hope you all have a safe driving day and don't hurt yourself shoveling - we all so do NOT need any back issues this close to Christmas!
(altho that could be a really good excuse to just give gift cards to everyone! Hmmmmm.........)

OH...and for those of you on facebook - you have to check out JulieChicago's latest posted picture from one of her children (or maybe it was her DH?????)....LMAO this am!!!!!!
Julie....you gotta save this stuff!
