Not too pretty outside this morning but I am not going to let those rain drops weight me down.  It is not snow, but would be prettier if it were.  Hopefully, the dog fence will go up tomorrow.  Hope so anyway.  I'd like to see another project completed around here.  Hmmmmm, just noticed we are onto the next page so I can't go back and read  -- I think the buzzer is about to sound and once again I will flunk the test.

Rita -- Is today mammo day.  Sending lots of good vibes and healing hugs to you.

Donna, yay for you -- knowing it is possible to change for the better puts you into a whole new universe.

Hope you all have a good day.  I'll be checking back later.

JACKIE - You wrote: Hmmmmm, just noticed we are onto the next page so I can't go back and read...

Actually you can...I do it all the time. Simply select all the words in your post. Press the Control Button and the letter C on the keyboard at the same time, and release (C=copy). You can then go back to the pages you want to read. Then go back to Post a Reply at the end of our thread. Put your cursor in the Reply box and press the Control Button and the letter V on the keyboard at the same time, and release (V=paste). Voila! Practice it a few times...before you know it, you'll be copying and pasting EVERYTHING! lol

OMG Laura.....a million thanks.  I copy and paste all the quotes so I know how to do that.  Just never "allowed my brain" to figure out that it could work for when you'd like to go back and read a post.

BTW...I'm eating my earlier words as we had some shopping to do and it was no big deal with the misty rain we were having and which the weatherman said was all we would have.  Found a deal on a 40-in high def t.v. and had been putting this off as our older 36 in. Sony was showing no signs of biting the dust -- so hey, no big deal with the misty rain....we will go for it.  It's out in the car still....too wet for us to drag it in.  The guy next door is proprietor of a pawn shop so we will see what he will give us for the old Sony.  Easier than trying to sell somethign as old as it is as the ad in the paper would cost an arm and a leg.

Ok.....enough for now.  Did I tell you that some days I really hate rain....aaarrrrggg.

    Hi Karin.

    Hugs, Jackie

I am retired with a sub job tomorrow and hoping for a snowday!  What a little kid I am.  Actually, unlike most here, I love snow.  I think  it so pretty.  I guess I can expect rocks breaking  through  my computer screen any minute for that comment.  It was so much fun to watch the kids get into snowsuits today so they could play in the snow.  Rule is no snow suit...no outdoor play!

Laura, you shared the ETSY site.  My daughter makes barrettes for little girls and sells on Etsy.  I will tell you all how to navigate to her spot when I talk to her tomorrow.  Also, for Chicago women, I went to a wonderful craft fair in Chicago on Sunday called the Renegade Art  Show in Wicker Park and that was great!  Very upscale arts and crafts.  Laura, you may want to look into that for next year for your own items.  There were about 200 "vendors"  and I purchased a number of very unique gifts.  See (http://www.renegadecraft.com/chicago).

Thank you all for caring so much and I'm sorry I haven't posted sooner but I got tied up with family and still trying to get things around here unpacked and put in place.

I went and met up with my oncologist Dr. Ma and she is such a sweetheart and her nurse Shannon is a doll.  As we were talking I was trying to take notes and keep things in order so that I could go over them when I got home.  But she had her nurse take notes and then type everything up for me to take home and read so that my mind was able to be "there" instead of taking notes and so on.  (See what I mean by real sweethearts and dolls?)

Anyway the good news is NO RADS!  Which was my biggest fear far worse in my mind due to the complications my Grandma and Mother had with it.

So on the 21st I'm going to have a port placed and have my first chemo treatment.  The plan she has made for me is 4 cycles of AC (every other week) and then 4 cycles of T every other week.  So I'm looking at 16 weeks of chemo.

Since I'm going to the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes Jewish Hospital which is also a teaching/research hospital they asked me to be in a research study as well.  It's the phase 3 trail evaluating the role of exemestane plus GnRH analogue as adjuvant therapy for premenopausal women with endocrine responsive breast cancer.

Which basically is a lot of words to say that I'm going to get a shot once a month along with the drugTriptorelin instead of Tamoxifen.  The way I see it is this... so many woman before me has gone through the same things we are right now and sadly not all of them made it... (my grandma and mother included).  But they along with so many other women have paved the way for many many more of us to survive and continue to lead happy lives.  And now it's my turn to see if I can help the next generation to have better treatments and a smoother road to recovery... that is until they find the cure.  If it hadn't been for other women willing to be in trials and testing I could have had the same surgery my Grandma had to have and her scars went the from middle of her chest to around her shoulder blade.  I also owe to it to my daughter, nieces, friends, family and other women around the world.  So this is part of my donation to help pave the way to a smoother road in recovery until the cure is found!

But want to know the scariest part for me to wrap my mind around (so far)?  Having to give myself a shot the day after each treatment.  I'm NOT... I repeat I'M NOTgood with needles!!  I'm going to ask if I can just put the shot in my port instead of my stomach..lol  Just the thought of that gave me the wigglies!

Buffy....Now you know what is goin to happen and emotionally that is everything and you can start to prepare for the process. I USED a jounral for the before , during and after each treatment.  also taped some healing and meditative type tapes to have for each session. Put together a comfort bag of all the things that will help you and keep your time there with the things that help you. DRINK alot of water will help. good book or readings or whatever you like to do and can get you in good mental state for you as all is goin on. OR just rest during this time. HAVE a loved or supportive person with you as well. NO RADS!!! That is awesome!!! You can do this, one tx at a time and wth us roorting you on!

Not working today. IT is nasty here, more rain and wind and falling temps. I have a feeling this is goin to be a stormy and cold winter as we have not had a really snowy one in some years as for down South here!

Susan....Good luck in subbbing. kids have to love seeing you!!I worked yesterday and some next week.. taking it slow and trying to balance that and staying true to myself and what i can and cannot do.

Well ladies, healthy thoughts to all who are goin thru any TX, appts or testings. Be safe and warm today~~~!!!

    Hi ladies -

Just a quick drive-by.  It was a wonderful seeing all the ladies at the holiday party.  Thanks so much for all the time you put into it JanClare, Laura and BJ.  It was so much fun!

Jackie - my hair is a lot longer than my avatar as that was taken in July and it is now Dec - haven't really cut it other than trimming the ends.

Buffy - glad you now have your plan of action.  I was also in a clinical trial - mine was just testing different dosing schedules. I had AC weekly instead of bi-weekly.  I had to give myself a shot every day for 15 weeks!  I was petrified, but it really wasn't bad.  The needle is really little.   Good luck!

Renee - hope your daughter is doing better. I took my DD for her H1N1 shot last week - my son absolutely refused to go - he hates shots.  So, I am looking for the mist for him.

Wendy - hope your eye is getting better.  I'm thinking about you!

Donna - glad you got some sleep - hope you are working it out.

Gotta go!  Have a great day!

Morning all....well, it came and went as far as the snow went....have about 3-4 inches but it was wet and heavy.  My little machine made quick work of it all tho.  I am going to get out and hopefully finish up the shopping first thing this am, before the temps dive.

Susan - yes it is pretty.  HOWEVER..............only if you sit inside and look at it!  Give me a beach and palm trees any day!

Donna...glad that you are getting some sleep.  Really, I swear by a little milk.  I don't even have to heat it up....

Buffy....your doc and her nurse sound wonderful.  Believe all of us - that is the key to your tx - good medical support staff who get it!  The needles, after the first one or two - you will be fine.  And I'm with you on the rads.  My onc was so confused that I wasn't worried about the chemo but I was petrified about the rads.  Chemo I know they will stop if you are having se's, rads they keep pushing thru as it is so important to keep them on schedule.  So YAY!!! for no rads for you!!!!  I had a different chemo regime than you but I'm sure some of the other gals will chime in as I know some had your protocol.

Connie.....well, I think my eye is getting better, much less flashing/floaters but I understand this whole process can take up to months to resolve.  So I am behaving myself - sort of.  I did go to the gym and walked sloooooooowly on the treadmill and just did my back exercises.  I really think I went more to see the girls as the gym closes for good next Tuesday.  I'm not reading anything either, which is killing me - I keep looking longingly at the S. King book!  But this sitting and trying to keep an eye still - yeah, no.  Boring!!!!

Laura/JanClare - how's the snow up N?  Send us pretty pcitures!!!!!

Well - off to the shower and then off for some shopping...stay wam girls and be careful as when the temps drop off today the roads are going to be very slick.  Put some salt down too on your walkway and driveway, or walk on the grassy areas.  My former boss, years ago - just walked 4 steps (literally) onto his driveway to grab the paper and fell and broke his hip.  Had surgery and spent 4.5 weeks IN the hospital, then 3 MONTHS at home.  And he was only in his late 40's at the time.  Just a little teeny section of black ice on the pavement.

    For Susan....

Hi Ladies, I don't think I've been on this site since Oct when I started rads. I really thought rads would be easier than the chemo was but I went into a lupus flare and didn't have an easy time of it. The treatments ended last fri which was a week early but no complaints from me. I am looking forward to feeling better each day and very happy that treatment is now behind me. I'm triple neg so no taxoxifen. I finally am getting some hair back so I am able to go without a scarf or hat unless I'm outside. Sounds like the party was great fun. I will try to stay in better touch and catch up with the posts.   Christi

Ok....lost my whole beautiful post so here goes the short version.  Christie....good to see you.  Glad that you are thru those rads and they were such a problem.  Frustrating that something yo need so badly gets other maladies wound up that cause havoc.  Glad you were able to carry through almost all to get any of those stray bad cells nuked and out of there.  Good for you.

Marilyn....you do have a great medical team and that does mean SO MUCH.  Mine was just ok to the tune of I tossed 40 #'s of weight off of me through the whole thing.  I forgave my team though...I tend to be a big non-complainer -- and have to take some responsibility for not being more forceful.

Susan....I am another snow lover but hate the wind we are having today as it is taking us down almost to zero.  Now and then I see mild snowflakes, but they are very thin and sparse and nothing will show on the ground.  Wonder what will happen later.  Don't know if the guys will come put up the fence or not....but hey, I'm not sure it is going to get a whole lot better and I don't think the ground is really frozen.

Wendy....you could get one of those books on tape couldn't you???  I have read to myself visually so long that I wonder if I could GET it if someone else was reading to me.....might be interesting to try.

Well, onward and upward.  Dh is going to hook up the new t.v. today.  We changed our service at Charter yesterday so the first of the week they will bring out the newer box that is needed for HDTV.  Should be interesting.

    Hugs, Jackie

Buffy - Hang in there! I had the same chemo as you - 16 weeks - but unfortunately had to have 28 radiation treatments. As for the shots - I can see how you would be uncomfortable with giving them. Is there someone else who can do it for you? My dh did mine. We'll be here for you.

Irene - Hope your daughter is doing okay!

Christi - I'm sorry you had the Lupus flair up. But I'm glad you're done with RADS - you're a RAD GRAD! Hang in there...

Wendrew - Lots of snow up north here. It is pretty outside, but I really want to move to a warm climate. I am so OVER boots and scarfs, etc.

OHHHHH, Wendy, thank you for that pretty tree.  I loved it.

Good to hear from you, Christi.I hope the lupus is under control now.

Buffy, it sounds to me like you are in wonderful hands regarding your doctors.  They sound not only very smart, but very kind.  I do feel when we face this thing called cancer, the kindness in the medical people is very, very important.  I too have been blessed with just the kindest people when it comes to medical people.   Anyway, the plan seems thoughtfully put together.  Not having radiation is a real plus as it is time consuming.  I think once you do the needles, you will be okay.  Are you afraid of needles, or just the idea of giving yourself a shot?

Spent the morning with grandchildren.  My heavens, I love them so much.  I never thought I would turn into one of those obnoxious grandmothers who thinks her grandchildren are stage material, gifted and  not capable of being bad.  Maybe I will get more realistic as they get older (only 9 months and 3 now).

The tree that I have been begging my DH to cut down because it is DEAD fell over today.  He always said about it, "It will come back," and of course it never did because most of us recognize that dead is dead and the dead just don't come back the next Spring.  I am thrilled it went down on its own as I am certain our neighbors think we are nuts to keep a dead tree year after year.

Laura, we would all miss you if you moved to a warm climate, yet we would love to visit you!

I continue to miss Ginny.  Maybe she is just really busy and having lots of fun.  I hope.

    HEY GIRLS THIS IS GREAT!

The CASA cause will be featured in the annual Dr. Phil holiday show tomorrow, with a strong call for volunteers and donors. The CASA segment features Orange County CASA volunteer Mary Roda and the youth she served, Sandy Phan. Sandy is 18 and has just aged out of the system. Mary was instrumental in helping Sandy get into college and launched toward a successful adulthood.

Dr. Phil is on at 3:00 p.m. on Channel 2 - check it out!

Morning....-2.8 on my deck.  Nothing more to say....

Laura....I am so with you!  I hate sitting here, wondering if the SUV which sits outside will start and figuring the Z is dead in the garage.  And I really don't have anywhere to go - just need to move cars.  And the down coat, and sweatshirt with hood, and scarf and gloves.  DH has been looking at jobs in FL seriously for the past year but they are in worse shape than the school districts up here so I guess we are stuck right here for now.  Unless we win the lottery.....

Jackie....wow!  A BIG tv!  DH wants a big flat screen but I keep telling him that we already have 7 old style ones and if the big one in the family room goes out, we can get one.  Plus...we have a space built in the wall for the older tv style and the flat screen would look very silly in there.  Truthfully, he sits down and promptly falls asleep and I say....you can sleep just as well in front of the old tv as you can in front of a flat screen!

Rita...say "hi" to WendyTY for me!  Soooo glad your mamm is good!  I hate sitting in that little waiting room with the other gals - we all have that "look" in our eyes and I think you all know exactly what look I mean....

Susan....well, I do what I can for my friends!  I just knew your tree was going to fall over!!!!!  Hmmmmm...what should I post a picture of today?????

Christi....good to hear from you, but sorry about your lupus flare.  Not fun.  BUT....rads is over.  And aren't you sooooo glad!  Check in more often!  Maybe one day you could join us for a lunch/dinner or something.

Funny thing about those books on tape....DH thought of that...and he has a whole collection of old books for when he used to work 43 miles away.  BUT...they are all on cassette and I finally threw out the cassette player as I haven't used it in over 8 years!  Go figure....and actually for me, the fun part about reading esp. in the winter is curling up in my fav chair with a cup of tea and losing myself in the book.  Don't think it would be quite the same, just listening to something.  OH well....I think I will back to almost normal activities by next week if what I have read is true, and I respect the Mayo website.

Off to shower and then????  I think I will wait a bit for it to warm up to venture out - you know, to about 5 degrees!!!!  Stay warm and be careful driving - our street out in front is snow-covered and somewhat shiny so that means ICE.

Rita.....AWESOME gift indeed!!!Glad that ordeal is over and you can enjoy this holiday season.

This cold has my joints aching off the charts. NEVER had joint pain until B.C.?! It is very difficult to do my excercises, but went to Yoga last night and will not give it any more power in this.Wish there was a DR i could go to who knows everything there is for after cancer care, as it is so needed.

Christi.. sorry about your lupus flare up!!Cannot imagine as i know it is a challening time BUT having rads over will improve so much overall! Just know we are here to listen always.

Jackie...enjoy your new flatscreen!! My hubby got one for the bedroom before my surgery so i would have a comfortable room etc.. well for men, it is always bigger is better.  Was ok with what we had, but now, it  really is nice to see bigger images!!!Enjoy!

Well ladies, not goin out today as my blood feels tooo thin.is that possible to feel more chilled as anemic for a good 6 mos this year? MAN.. it is so much more intense in being chilled. Then when the hot flash comes, it balances out nicely!!!!

Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community.

The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71.

Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker and Captain Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours.

Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times, he still was a crusty old man and was considered a positive roll model for millions.

Doughboy is survived by his wife Play Dough, three children: John Dough, Jane Dough and Dosey Dough, plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart.
The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.
