Don't you wish you had a fairy godmother who could erase those doggy footprints with just a wave of her magic wand ?

Oh yes Curve, that would be marvelous! She could help each of us get the housework done, too. I sure need to dust before I raise the blinds. That sun shining in would show all the dust, and then some!

Unfortunately, I will be walking down the AISLE of a church for sad reasons this week. My FIL passed in his sleep last night. He was a wonderful man who will be missed very much. But now he gets to join my MIL, so I'm sure he is much happier. RIP dad.

Red, my heart goes out to you, your DH, your kids, and grandkids. And great-grandkids if he had any. So sad, and I do hope he went peacefully. Yes, he is with his lovely wife, and I am sure they are both happy right now. Hope you are doing okay, will be thinking of you all.

We forgot to do a new lease for our nice tenant, but not sure if its necessary. Maybe when we have some time, we can figure that out. She is very nice and I know a lease makes them think more in terms of staying another year, rather than  a few months. A lot to do today though, as my DD2  is driving here from TX today. Will take at least 10 hrs, and she is driving by herself. I pray she arrives safely and all the roads are clear. There was snow in AR and MS, so I will be worried all day, I am sure of that.

(((RedReading))) May your FIL rest in peace.

@wahine, I think whether a new lease is needed right away depends on what the old one said—was it for a definite period or did it convert to a month-to-month agreement at the end of the original term? I also hope your DD2 has a safe trip. Maybe when she gets there, you can get some extra sleep so you don't get run down with everything you are doing.Remember, you can't take care of your DD1 if you don't take care of yourself.

Hi girls, My DD2 got here after 10pm, after driving since 8:30 am to get here. What a nightmare with the snow and ice and being totally stopped on Interstates. I was able to look online to see where all the blockages were, which helped some, as I got her on a different route for a couple of hrs. Anyway, I have not yet tried the treadmill, was busy getting ready for her to come. My DH tried it and he likes using the slope (incline). My DD1 is not doing well, and things are going badly right now. I need to concentrate on being with her everyday now, as she won't be able to drive anymore either, cause of strong pain meds. Hoping she can get something in the feeding tube...it seems to upset her tummy so much, too, but can't eat regularly anymore. Yesterday I could not stop the tears from falling. I appreciate all the concern and prayers, very much. I am taking a break from the regular thread I am on, and I will prolly need to take a break from this thread too. Those of you that want to keep in touch, if you don't have my email, just send me a PM, or if you want to connect on FB, let me know. Keep this thread going, its been so much fun!!!! And I enjoy all of you, so much. If I am up to it, I may pop in from time to time. Hope everyone does well, and I will keep you all in my prayers, too. (((((BIG HUGS to YOU ALL)))

Kathy, we are going to miss you so much. I am so happy dd2 made it safely. I was worried when I saw your post about the highways. Lots of people were saying special prayers for her. Glad they worked.

I totally understand your need to focus on your DD1 and all the things going on in your life right now. God be with you. (((Kathy)))

The only creature happy with all this snow is my big dumb lab. She wants to go outside to play in it all the time. I'm sure there are small animals running around under the snow, because she buries her head under it and tries to chase them. Running full out with her head under the snow. Silly dog. Put her out this morning and she was gone for half an hour. Our yard is fenced so I wasn't too worried, and sure enough, she finally LOPED back up into the porch and banged at the patio door. She was soaked from all the snow on her.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Wahine, know that whether you post or not, you are very loved and will be missed. You have become the mother (for lack of a better word) of this thread, the cheerleader, the glue that keeps it together. Even though people come and go, since I have started on this thread you have ALWAYS been here. Do what is most important now, that's taking care of you and your family, we know you'll be back. May God bless you and your family.

    Red, silly dog!

Maddy, I am thinking maybe we have VOLES again, running around under the snow. We had them several years ago and they make tunnels between the snow and the grass from one hole to another. Unfortunately they eat all the grass on the way, so when the snow melts you can see bare little highways all over your lawn. :-(

(((wahine & her DD))) I am glad your other daughter got there safely, even though it took so long. We got 3 or 4 inches of snow here last night, so I am staying home from church this morning. There is a long hill between here and there. It's not terribly steep, but since I have no chains for my car, I don't know if I could get down it without sliding, and worse yet, I don't know if I could get back up to come home afterwards! There is another church closer to here that I could get to if I knew how to cross country ski, but I don't, and also have no skis, boots or poles. You do what you need to to take care of yourself and your DD—we will keep the thread going until you can come back.

oops, Curve, didn't mean not to mention you. Got a phone call from DS and lost my train of thought. Probably better to stay home than not be able to return home.

Anyone else: she who votes for an easy day will be calm today? I know whacky, but the only way I could think of for a narrative

CC and others, where are you?

Maddy you bumped Curve right into the swimming pool! You both went off my word voles, since Curve got in there first I'll go off her word poles. Is that ok?

Curve you definately don't want to have your car sliding down a slippery SLOPE. That would cause an accident - better safe than sorry.

Having roast chicken for dinner tonight. Heard an interesting recipe for Caesar Chicken, so I'm going to try it.

    Have a super afternoon.

Oh, it's so confusing! Actually, I was trying to make "poles" from "loved" and didn't realize until just a minute ago that requires changing two letters. So it's a good thing those little critters crept in there.

@2TA, you are right. My car knows he isn't allowed to play in the snow, especially not on hills! That could end with tears, or even worse, insurance claims! But the weather is warming up so much, I don't think Peter (the car) will be snowed in long enough to get cabin fever. He'll probably be able to play again tomorrow, or Tuesday at the latest. And no swimming pool for me please, unless there is an indoor one somewhere nearby. You won't catch me swimming in an outdoor pool on a snowy day.

@CCFW, to change your email, click on the "Profile" link (near top right corner of browser window), then choose the "Settings" tab. About halfway down that page is your email address. Click the "edit" link next to your email to change it. Your login, password, and favorite threads will not be affected.

I got snow too, but I don't bother shoveling it. Around here we rarely get more than a few inches at a time and usually it melts in a day or two, so I just wait for it to go away by itself. Here's a picture of my back yard from yesterday morning. I just learned how to put a photo in my posts—this is only the second time I've done it.

As for going back and reading everything you missed, you don't need to do that. It's not a homework assignment, for goodness sakes! Just go to the end and jump back in whenever you have time to play. Smile

Ewww. Ice skating is just not me. Nor tobogganing, nor skiing (anymore), nor any other sport that involves winter and being outside. I'm a summer girl! Swimming, golfing, flying KITES and hiking. These are more my style!

I have only tried to skate a few times, many years ago. I did more falling than skating! Nowadays I stick to walking and if there is a public pool near here I might add some swimming if my onc OK's. I need to regain weight but I want it to be mostly muscle which means exercise. UGH!

I just got the word, my counter-top should be ready to install a week from tomorrow. Hurray! No more washing dishes in the cold garage! After that there is just the touch-up work to be done. I hope the job will be absolutely finished by the end of the month, but it seems as if everything takes longer than one would think possible.

Curve, I hope the new counter top makes your life easier and is a perfect addition to your kitchen. What a beautiful yard you have.

Onco Warrior, totally missed your change in identity. So, you went to change your nickname and the system kicked you out?

Red, good detective work! Saw what you wrote on 100 Days, I'm thinking you're watching out for us. There are so many creeps out there, so happy Onco isn't one of them!

Wahine, if you're lurking, thinking of you, your DD's and Molly.

    Hugs all!

I have no idea how to lead into this word. Hmmmmmmm. Remember the old English gardens? The ones with fountains and hedge MAZES? I want one.

Red, how sweet! Are those roses! I think I see petals, where are the stems?

@2TA, no stems in the snow—think about finding all those thorns in the spring. Ouch!! In my first house, my neighbor had holly trees that dropped their prickly leaves over the fence. The leaves rotted pretty quickly, but the prickles stayed around much longer, and it was really annoying having them poke my fingers whenever I worked in that part of the garden.

Anyway, I am not sure those are petals—to me the red material looks more like some sort of fruit, maybe cranberries. If I've guessed right, the birds will eat them, and the garden won't be messy when the snow melts.

Honest to goodness, it SEEMS to me that the snow will never melt. My backyard (and especially my gardens) are covered by at least a foot and a half of snow - if not more.

I must say, however, that this weekend, snow has been my friend. My mom got the call that her brother in Halifax, Nova Scotia was in critical condition in the hospital with peritonitis. She was in full panic mode - anxiety attacks and all - and she came to my place for a bath. Then she bursts into tears and says she has to see him and needs me to go with her. So I go online, we can fly out Sunday night and come back on Tuesday in time for my first rad appointment on Wednesday. I talked my mom into waiting until Sunday morning before booking, because she had a call scheduled with my aunt at 9:30. My aunt was foresquare against mom and I coming down because they are in the middle of the east coast storm and expecting more Monday night. We might get there, but getting back in time for my appointments was a crap shoot. Then she arranged for my mom to be able to talk to her brother in ICU. Mom was much relieved at how good my uncle sounded and decided to take my aunt's advice and stay home.

Thank you so much Aunt Kay. I would have gone, she's my mom after all, but I am very relieved that I don't have to. We will go together, though in the warmer weather. Both cheaper and warmer. Excellent!

@RedReading, I'm glad your uncle is doing well enough in the hospital that your mom did not need to make the trip. Is he still in the ICU?

I can understand why you are getting impatient with the snow. Even though it is mosly just rain here, I get pretty fed up with it after several months. (Of course if there is any really hot weather in the summer, I get fed up with that even faster!) What happens to all that snow when it does melt? I will guess that most of it just seeps into the ground. Is that right?

I think you are right Curve, then I think we watch the rest of it SPEED by in our swollen spring rivers and streams.
