Well Badger, back in 1972 I was in London on Carnaby Street and bought myself a beautiful sparkly Zandra Rhodes dress and I still have it (my one and only "designer" piece) now here's the problem ... I've gained a bit of weight so I don't think I can even get it over my head .... But when I lose the weight I'll be ready to trip the light fantastic 😘
Yes 2nd time I'm getting very excited, and thank you for all the tips0 -
Tell us what you will wear in case we can catch sight of your arm (like 2nd)!0 -
Thanks Ruth for letting me know about this forum,
2ndtime I am so impressed! I which I would have know sooner!
I'm so excited for you Cheryl......have fun!0 -
Hooray, another DWS groupie!!0 -
Welcome Katlebbie. Ruth I'll probably wear black pants and a sheer swing black chiffon top with my drop pearls, at least that's what I'm thinking today, I will have my phone with me so if it's not boring I'll post a "line" picture on FB for you and 2nd time told me you can't take your camera/phone in but when I come home I'll post the picture from FB here, I just hope that by Monday our heat/wind is over otherwise it will be unbearable waiting in the line, remember our DC "tourist" day well it's kind of like that but wind instead of humidity, dry dry hot hot.0 -
Cheryl, can't wait to see line photos! We did a lot of taking/getting photos with others, not a whole lot else to do. If you're by the tables you can take turns sitting. Some people were playing cards to pass the time. Putting in my request for nice cool weather.0 -
Cheryl, I think I heard Julianne Hough will be a guest judge. That should add some excitement with her judging her brother Derek. So exciting!0 -
Got a text from Cheryl. She is in the studio!0 -
Ruth - Can you remind me what she is wearing? If I remember right, she has beautiful white hair, correct?
Can't wait to hear her descriptions.0 -
Cheryl, thinking of you! Sneaky getting your cell into the studio.0 -
"Ruth I'll probably wear black pants and a sheer swing black chiffon top with my drop pearls" - I found what Cheryl thought she was going to wear back up top of this page.0 -
Cheryl, you have to be having a fabulous time!
Just watched Bill Engvall and loved his effort and enjoyed his routine. I also like his fatherly relationship with the professional, Emma. So appropriate. And Emma, wow, what a rockin' bod she has!0 -
Of the guys I actually liked Bill the best...he was just having so much fun. Of the girls; I liked Christina, Amber, and surprisingly, Snookie the best. Can't wait to hear Cheryl's report!0 -
I cried during Valerie Harper's dance. She was trying so damn hard but just doesn't have it. It was sad but so proud of her to do what she did. She is inspiring to me.0 -
so glad no spoilers posted! About half hour before we see it here.0 -
I cried too. She is a class act, in every way!0 -
Hello everyone, well what a fantastic experience I had today. Took Maddys advice and drove up to Los Angeles early there were four of us and we parked at The Grove and went to Farmers Market for lunch, we then walked to the CBS studios and got in the line, we lined up on the street for a couple of hours and my friend rented a chair so we all took it turns to sit, the weather was nice so it wasn't too bad standing/sitting and there was a lot of chatting with new friends in the line, it was also fun to see how people dressed lots of lovely outfits with flip flops and I was surprised at how many young people were in the line. We were in the general line and there was a priority line that just kept growing and growing and I was really afraid that we wouldn't get in but we made it, then of course there was more waiting. So now we're undercover and I decided I had better go to the rest room so of course another long line but guess what, the line snaked around behind where the make up trailers were and while I was standing there I saw both Val and Tony both with their shirts off going into the make up trailers and they waved to us in the bathroom line.... also saw Leah in an ugly grey bathrobe and Brent and Sasha. Then back in the waiting line and Corbin came out and "worked" the crowd and he was so sweet to some young fans who were excited to meet him, finally we went in and our seats were right up on the top balcony we faced the stage area and had a fabulous view looking straight down on the stage, the judges and the seating area for the dancers were to our right and we were right next to the practice/interview area.
The show itself was terrific, I loved Valerie and if you could have seen how Tristan took care of her throughout the entire time she was out, they move in and out all throughout the show and he always had his arm around her and was guiding her no matter where they were going. First dance was Jack Osborn and from my viewpoint he did really well. Karinas outfit was spectacular in person and she and Corbin were amazing IRL, I will say my friend said they should have got a 10 but being the astute judge that I am when he lifted his leg in a turn it wasn't high enough..... (gosh I miss the emoticons)!!!!! The other one I was surprised with was Elizabeth, I really hadn't taken too much notice of her but she really stood out and from my vantage point was perfect and boy did she work that floor crowd between breaks she was out hugging and visiting people, and Nicole and Sasha were having fun bouncing around together.. When Derek and Amber started their dance I was directly above them, also Mark and Christina ... Derek of course was poetry in motion and then during the commercial break before Bill and Emma were about to dance the whole group were in those red seats with them and they were all goofing off and you could tell they were all really enjoying each others company, there is so much going on while they are in commercial it is really fascinating to watch, oh and props to the floor cameramen who spin around in a circle holding those cameras, they do have someone holding on to them as they spin but ooeee.
Maddy I didn't get my phone in I texted Ruth once we'd made it in the gate but before security. Oh but let me tell you all the VIPS had phones we could see them and right before her dance Christina raced and gave her phone to someone sitting below me I didn't take many pictures cause I couldn't see with the glare but one of my friends took her ipad and took photos and she's posted them on facebook so tomorrow I'll see if I can get them and drag them over here, one of my friends broke her shoe and then when we were all walking back to our cars there were lots of ladies dressed beautifully walking in bare feet carrying their shoes, need I say more it was a great night...0 -
Cheryl, am so happy you have a fantastic time! Wonderful story about waiting in line for the bathroom (for everyone else: they're porta-potties not real bathrooms), made the waiting worth it! Wasn't Corbin a sweetheart working the crowd? Smart move, they'll vote for him! And yes, very interesting people and outfits, remember its LA. I like how you described where you were seated, now I'll go back and see it again to look for you. You were so close to the practice area! Isn't it crazy how the VIP's had such different rules?
Thank you for he great description! Hugs to you, Cheryl!0 -
Thanks for the great description, Cheryl! I'll post my thoughts tomorrow in case someone hasn't watched the episode yet but just wanted to say it's hard to watch the show when looking for a friend in the audience LOL. ♥0
-
LOVE LOVE LOVE your play by play commentary, Cheryl! So fascinating and interesting to hear what goes on 'behind the scenes'. How memorable for you!0 -
Thanks for taking us with you, Cheryl!! Whose turn is it next week? (wink emotion)0 -
Ha, ha, by the way, when I first read "saw Val and Tony with shirts off", I thought: "Valerie Harper?" LOL. Well, the ticket price without seeing any dancing is worth it just to see the pecs on those two hunks!
I'm so happy to hear about Troy treating Valerie like a princess, and I'm not surprised. He displays such great compassion towards her on the show and it would seem that's not just for the viewers, but it carries over into real life.
I'm also not surprised to hear about Elizabeth Berkley and that she's got some charisma. It won't surprise me if she's in the semifinals. And Leah, ha, ha, she seems like the type to walk around in an ugly robe.
Not sure I cared much for Julianne as judge. I like her and all, loved when she was a professional dancer on the show, but meh. I didn't like that she & Carianne both wore black, too dull. Carianne recently got a new haircut, and her dress mimicked the diagonal cut of her new bangs. I like it, but it was a bit stiff looking.
Hey, what if Maks comes in as a judge????? That'd be some sort of come-uppance to all the other judges, wouldn't it? It'd sure boost ratings. Over all, tho, I'm glad they haven't tampered with the original judges for the most part like some other competition shows; I feel they are a big part of why I watch, yes, Len included.0 -
Len seems so far to have mellowed a bit this year.0
-
Len Goodman got married earlier this year, could that be it?
Can't cut & paste article, bet you can google0 -

Maks as a judge would certainly make him the Simon Cowell of DWTS!!!! ;-)

OMG I LOVE this forum, Thanks Cheryl for the awesome description of what happened, where you were and how everyone looked. I felt so sorry for Valarie but I am so proud of Tristan for his compassion! All in all I thought the show was very good, I also cried when then voted Valarie off, I miss Maks and it just was not the same without Len. Len was recently married and that could be why is has mellowed! Good for him!0 -
Darn it I had a whole post and it disappeared when I hit submit.....
I have a couple of pictures but every time I insert them they are massive and I just can't figure out how to resize, I had it down but of course once I learn something they change it arghhhhhh!!!!!!!!
Forgot a few things to tell you. Bill Nye was there, he hobbled in on a cane and received a very warm welcome from the crowd, during one of the commercial breaks the warm-up guy brought a young boy to meet him as he was his hero and it was a really nice interaction. e watched it tonight on DVR and Leah was much better on tv than she was live, we saw ourselves three times but to be perfectly honest you would have to know exactly where to were to have spied us but I loved our seats I loved being able to look down and see everything. Oh and we could barely hear Tom and Brooke but I didn't mind as there was so much going on all around them, oh and Bruno was so sweet while Carrie Ann and Julianne were doing their spiels he was blowing kisses to the dancers and he was always interacting with whoever was on the couch beside him. I think Brent may be the next to go, I think he may have peaked last week, of course I've been wrong before (insert surprise emoticon) where are they I miss them......0 -
