Not fair girls......I can't even get mine done....why might you ask????.....Gotta love that when your immune system is down, which mine obviously was, I ended up getting toe nail fungus....YUCK!  Yes, it is almost gone.  I noticed late July last year that one toenail was lifting up so I went to the foot Doc thinking it was due to my walking which I do a ton of.....he explained to me how easy it is to get this .....he said people in their late 60's and people who's immune system is compromised.....so yes, I was one of the lucky ones as I have to put this nail polish on 2 times a day and cannot wear nail polish.......and let me tell you ladies that the only thing I really like on my body is my toes.....it takes a whopping 6 months to get a new nail, so far so good......I am thinking by mid April I will be all set to get them done and then I will scream and shout......

    I have a question:

Is anyone here on thyroid meds? And if so, did you find you had to adjust your dose upward since being on tamoxifen?

Reason I ask is that I started tam on January 1 and I have gained about 7 pounds since then, and I have not decreased my physical activity, in fact have actually increased it, adding miles to my run but now I have a gut where I never had one.

I think I had read that tam does affect thyroid. Plus I notice I do get a sleepy feeling in the middle of the day and I think that is a symptom of low thyroid.

You people are crazy, I can't keep up!

Does anyone have any advice for joint pain? I've been dealing with it pretty much from the first month of Tamox, but now that I've started a regular exercise program, it's downright debilitating on some days. There seems to be a fine line - some activity makes it better, but more activity makes it worse. Only I'm not willing to slow down now that I've started and set some goals for myself. I think I've seen some comments about acupuncture? Anyway, I'd love to hear about whatever anyone has had success with.

JO ~ I love all of the pictures.  YOU are so funny and always help brighten my day when I come on here.

JUNE ~ did you have that crazy wind last night?  I thought I was Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz!!!

Tory ~ are you taking calcium and Vitamin D3?  If not add it to your supplements.  How long have you been on the tamoxifen?  I had bad knee, toe and shoulder pain.  It is not too bad most days now.  I find if I sit alot it is worst.  I would imagine being in pain makes it even harder to exercise.  UGH !  I hope your joint pain GOES the heck away.

Alicialet me tell you as I type this I have this giant tree in my front yard that I think will not make it through today.....the wind is probably the worst I can remember ( no joke ).....so many branches are on the ground now as I type I am just hoping that one doesn't pop through my living room window and get us all......lol

Tink I am on a prescription from my doc and I thought it was doing so good, but I looked last night and I still don't think it will be ready by SpringCry  I feel so icky as I never had a fungus before....THANK YOU RADIATION!!!!!

Joyou are the Queen..... and the food choices and drinks are outta of this world......now only if you could find a tall dark and handsome to wait on us hand and foot I think we would all be set.....LOL

Okay so I splurged and got Biotin as I cannot stand how my nails are breaking so low that you cannot even cut them down......the pharmacist says it can take months to work, so keep your fingers crossed ladies as I bought 2500mcg and I will do 1 in the morning and 1 at night.....

Off to the gym with hubby!  Have a wonderful weekend ladies!  I am so happy to have met all of you!!!

    Good Morning Ladies,

The wind started up last night here in Maryland. And it's still going pretty strong! My little Yorkie didn't know what was going on when I took him outside this morning :)

Quiet day around here. Older daughter is off skiing in western Maryland, younger daughter has plans with friends this afternoon, and hubby is in Puerto Rico. Me? I'm home with the dogs :P

    Have a great day everyone!

Peg - hope the flow has subsided by now!  Agree w/the others - take it easy this weekend.

June - what is it that you paint on your toenails?  Sounds like it's working.

Yes - the wind!  Almost de-railed the train!  50-60mph gusts here.  And you can hear them coming!

Jo - I could have just put my face down in that cake/pie it looked so good :):)

Surfette - I have gained 3 pounds since I started Jan 1.  I eat very healthy & exercising more, so maybe it's added muscle weight.  I'm hoping it's only that but your post made me wonder.  I'm on total thyroid replacement meds as I had thyroid cancer over 35 years ago and thyroid was removed.  Coincidentally, the endocrinologist reduced my dosage the same day I started Tamox because as you age you need a little less and she said too high a dose can contribute to osteoporosis (which I never knew).  I'll be retested in March.

Tory - I have terrible pains in my toes from Tamox - have been on it for about 1 1/2 months.  I am on a calcium/Vit D supplement and also take Aleve for the pain. Most days it does help but may have to ask my MO for something strong for those days it is out of control.

ME - THE QUEEN OF FOOD?  Oh Ladies!  I am honored!

June - How about a waiter for each of us?  Talk about person service!

June so sorry , I know that can be very frustrating, to be honest with you I know I should of listen to the doc but I painted mine anyway int he summer , but probably why it took even longer to heal.

Thanks, tinkertude & justmealicia. Theoretically I'm taking calcium & vit D, but in practice it doesn't happen regularly. I'm very good about my morning pills, but they're in the night pile and more often than not I forget. I'll have to work on that. Last night it was awful - everything from my hips to my toes hurt like never before. Maybe I'll put the pills on the dining room table so I can't ignore them at dinner!

Hi all- So i started Tamox yesterday and today its day 2. No side effects yet.......

my hot flashes post chemo are starting to get less, but nonetheless are still there.

My only worry is about the side effect of it thickening the uterus lining. How do they know if its making it worse? ie no pap test was done before so how do they know its gone thicker? How are others dealing with this? is there a test that ive not had that I need to identify this?

I do have annual paps, but, thats to check for cervical cancer, not how thick uterine membranes are? Advice anyone?

Jo- please keep the food coming. Love the pics. Thanks.

June- we are having strong gust of wind here in Maine too. 15-30mph. I was going to ride my horse  but maybe not. Gym probably instead.

I was on Tamoxifen for the last 2 years and just switched to Aromasin. I am still having some joint and muscle pain but not as bad. I am also still having fatigue but less and I am sleeping better. Exercising helps the joint pain for me. I also do Yoga.

    Think Spring.

Peg so sorry you are going through this, get some rest this weekend until you can get things straightened out with the docs.

Tory-I have been on tamox for a couple of weeks and have had bad muscle stiffness and hip joint pain.  never any pain before.  My MO put me on Vit D3 2,000 IU's a day, and liquid glucosomine Chondrotin. 1-2 Tablespoon 2 X a day, would like for me to get down to 1 Tablespoon 2 X a day if I can after I get relief.  He said pills do not absorb as well only wants me taking the liquid.  Seems to be working some for me so far.  Just started it so I should know more in about a week.

I feel so much better today than the last couple of days.  Almost forgot my stomach medicine at noon. Of course it has been a couple of days since I have had my Tamox. Suppose to start back on it tomorrow but I may wait until Monday.  I sure hope adding the prilosec works to keep the neausea at bay.

June-LOL being sloshed in the wine care and not finding jo.  My stomach may feel like some wine tonight.  Will be a nice change after the last couple of days.

Oh and yes I have flip flops on today as well.  That is why Jo and I live in South Texas!!!

Sherry - So glad to hear you have gotten some relief.  The joint pain in my toes is getting worse.  The Aleve does not do the trick anymore.  Even though I am sick of dr's appts I may have to give in and go see my MO about it.  The last couple of days has been hard walking.  I played golf today and had to skip some holes - I started getting pains in my calves - that has not happened before. I would rather put up with the joint pain than the nausea.

Tink - I never put my flips aways.  There are some days I can't wear them but yes, Sherry and I can wear them most of the year.

Jo have you tried the Glucosomine Chrondrontin.  My new MO has me taking the liquid he says the tablets don't absorb as well.  I am taking 2Tablespoons twice a day.  He says once I see a difference he wants to see if I can back down to 1 Tablespoon twice a day.  If not I can stay at the 2 Tablespoons.  Seems to be helping a little but I have only been taking it  since Wed, so I guess I need to give it another week to really see.  he said that his patients on AL's get alot of relief with it with the joint pain. Glad you got to get out and play golf today.  I have been catching up on cleaning up my office here at the house.  Way over due.  I can actually see my desk now.

I hope these winds die down soon!  Some gusts recorded over 60 mph here in DC area today & now brush fires!  I have a birdfeeder & dozens of birds come each day.  Not today -- not one single bird!  Guess air traffic control grounded them :):)
