Thanks Tink! I had asked my cancer navigator about when i was about to go for surgery but she said that we would cross that bridge when we got there if necessary adn that mos do not need it. I have a radiologist appointment end of March...how long does it take to get fit and have one made?

You guys!  I have not taken Tamoxifen for 2 days now.  And I can hear a little out of my "good" ear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  They are both popping.  EVERYone told me nerve damage would not come back....But, maybe it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I am promptly writing a letter, and sending all my "team" copies of the Deafness from Tamoxifen, AND telling them that I am NOT going to start Tamoxifen again.

Maybe by April, when I see the Oncologist, who left me a message, to keep taking Tamoxifen, I will be switched to Femara.  She is getting a letter too!  Why won't anyone believe me?  The Doc at the Otolaryngology office, the Audiologist that fitted me with hearing aids, (which I did not buy yet) my Oncologist, nor my Primary Care Doc!

Oh well...maybe by tomorrow, I can hear even a little more.....Thanks Joan & you other gals...

Sandee.. I went to the PT and she measured me and said she would check to see if it was covered by insurance and if it wasnt I could order it myself on line . They are not as expenseive as I thought it would be under 100 for the arm part and the hand part, she recomenned both. The websites she gave me are...

    Lymphedemaproducts.com and Brightlifedirect.com

she said it usually only takes about a week when you order it directly on line yourself. I havent checked with my ins comp yet, since I still have awhile to travel. Hope this helps

Chevyboy...so glad you are stating on the upswing with the hearing. I cant believe they are so stubborn about believing this especially since you are seeing improvement after stopping it!!! yikes... keep us posted. Hope you are hearing even more tomorrow....hugs!!!!

Sunangel - yes it takes a long time and then one day you realize - "Hey, I didn't have any zingers today!"  Maybe a new prince charming will waltz in tonight!

Chevy - that's amazing about starting to hear.  I'd hold off on the aids!

June - around here those flip flops are called 'Switch Flops'.  I love them, the bottoms are not real cheap but the covers are about $12.  They are the only flops I wear anymore.

Jo - love your desserts!  On our cruise there was a chocolate bar open for a few hours.  I had the best chocolate chessecake I have ever had.  You have to try it on your cruise in a few months!

    Chevy,

Good to see you again.  Sorry about the hearling loss.  Glad to read that it seems to be reversible.

I took Tamoxifen for 2 years and Femara for one year.  After my follow up bone density test showed that I have lost 'significant' bone mass since starting Femara, I am back on the Tamoxi train...   I should only have about 21 months left to go with this wretched hormonal treatment...

    Good luck!

The more I read about the horrible SEs with the AIs, I am so glad they are no longer an option for me.  Think I will stick with Tammy for the full 5 years.  I don't need to go through hearing loss - my hubby thinks I am losing my hearing as it is.  Perhaps it is selective hearing loss?

    Hey there everyone,

Sunangel - I had my surgery on November 18th and am still having the pains you are describing. It will be nice to get full feeling back, and even nicer if the inverted nipple the surgery left me with will decide to come back out!! lol..lol  I was told it should, but who knows!

    Hi all,

Chevyboy, I am praying for you!!! I just KNOW you are going to prove them wrong. That hearing is going to come back. :) If anyone can prove em wrong, you can!! ;)

Well, got results back on the toe, NO fungus! Ha, ok, well, that's good because apparently that stuff is a bear to get rid of. But something is going on with it....he thinks I injured the cuticle in some way and got inflamed, etc....it's not growing that I can tell. And now with the doc clipping off the edge to send for testing, it's really short, ha. oh well.

Feeling better today, I really think part of my issue is the anemia I had/have. I pumped up iron foods when it hit me might be low iron (after really heavy period) and took my iron pills and I'm feeling better. Was feeling SO depressed just like in early Jan when that bloodwork showed really low iron. Started feeling so much better after taking iron pills....then I just had that crazy heavy period and the very down feeling came back. I associated it with the Tamox because I'd upped my dose but now realize it must be the iron. Really curious to see what my bloodwork shows I'm getting done tomorrow. I am going to have to see what we should do about these heavy periods...and if they keep being like this last (first one on Tamox) one was.

Oh, and SE for me have not been sooo awful. I do continue to have the mild nausea/weird tummy feeling. Feel fine in the mornings before I take it...and about an hour after the feeling comes and stays with me all day and evening. I also am having more trouble sleeping. Not doing the glycine regularly because didn't notice much help but maybe I should just do it anyway and see. I've been taking xanax more then ussual just to get rest. Also, another fun one that just started (I just upped my dose to 10 recently) are hot flashes! Had a big one the other night in middle of the night. And I continue to have them daily (and nightly), small ones. Quite alot of them actually. Wierd for me because I am always sooo cold. Yesterday our temp was 33 when I left the house (yuck, need spring!!!!) and I was hot...looked at the temp in my car and thought no way I'm not freezing right now, it's got to be at least 45-50. No, it was 33. Wow.

So, overall so far I would say tolerable, but not fun, side effects. Of course, I'm only halfway to full dose. I will continue up more quickly after my surgery next week to get to my full dose...then we will see how it goes. :)

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

June, I can't drink milk, it has bothered me for years so just stopped with it. I do take the Tamox with food though and usually drink my almond milk with it. (LOVE this stuff, it's the unsweetened almond milk by Silk, just started drinking it) So sorry you are dealing with headaches. :( I have some a bit, it's sort of an achy head feeling for me some days. I have had migraines since I was 22 but this is different. Haven't noticed an increase in the migraines tho, thank goodness.

Now, something I have noticed, are these quick sharp little pains in the left side of my head (same side I get migraines) since starting Tamox. Never had that before and have been having off and on since starting...about the second week in or so. Weird. I plan to tell my Onc about all of these things next week. But I wonder, does anyone else have this? They are just quick little pains and then gone. My husband gets them and has for years but I never have until starting T.

Jo, love the food! YUM :) Now I just need someone to make me all of that in real life. ;)

Tink, so sorry you are having an off day! I read your post and said YEP, I know exactly how she feels! I am the exact same way, one day up and the next downnnn. Crazy. Not used to such a rollar coaster of emotions. Hope tomorrow is better ! HUGS!

hello sweetie, i was on Tamoxifen for 5 yrs and I did gain a few pounds but they left when I was finished the tamox,, it was worth the weight gain because it came off and I am still cancer free(Praise GOD), IDC,stage 2, L mast, with reconstruction(didnt take, body rejected it, very painful(It hardned, wear prothesis now, chemo, rads, (17 years cancer free)had a choice for Lumpectomy, but I chose mast(was afraid it would come back if I got only lumpectomy.  Beside that I was in process of making wedding plans, my husband said he wanted me alive, didn,t care I needed breast removed (what Love).  God Bless msphil

Tinkertude- boy...I do remember pms and am happy to say I no longer have it o rthe period to go along with it...that being said, some days on Tamoxifen, I feel pmsy...same overwhelmed , doom and gloom feeling....I try to go to the gym too when I feel lik ethat or call someone to go to a movie or I sit and cry and just get it over with...my goodness...!

I am just so tired lately....someone on a school trip on the weekend said I am a "young 48"..my response was "what the hell does that really mean?"...guess what she meant is at 48 I have more energy than she does at 28....true enough but my battery feels like it is almost out of juice and nothing I am doign seems to recharge it. Is this what they were referring to as radiation fatigue that you feel onc eit is all over? I refuse to give in to it but I wake up tired despite the zopliclone, which knocks me out....I also had a hot flash last night..yowsers!!!! I have had 'warm flushes' every night since starting this regimen but the 'holy dinah hot flashes'?...not so much...I too was ALWAYS cold....no more. Now I wear layers and strip at the drop of the hat. No pride here!

Janet.........I'll be glad when that day comes!!  Today didn't have any.......weird... but it helps to know that they are "normal" to have......

And nope, no prince charming came in last night......heheeee

    ch..... same here!!!!!

I had to have an emergency hystorectomy when I was 27. Had so many cysts that covered my womb and overies....a FEW busted and I had horrible infection. I could hardly stand sit or breathe!! Went to a friend's dr. and then another dr. then decided I had better get another opinion!! And all three said the same thing, so after going to the emergency room again......I decided to call the one dr. and tell him ok........ thank goodness I did!!!  But I still have the pms without the period!

And now.........with tammy.......I think it is even way worse!! That was one reason I didnt' want to get back on it, but the alternative is so way worse! :(      So, here I am on my second day back on the tammy train.       and today has been one of them days................ maybe it is the tammy, maybe not, but it sucked today! :(
