Teklya - Go for it girlfriend
Sherry - I have been taking the NSAIDs for about a week now and no relief whatsoever. Going to see what my onc says on Monday. Even though I am so tired of the doctors appts, I have to give in and just go. Not only do I have the toe pains, but there is numbness in the ends of my toes now. I am told this are signs of neuropathy. Tammy is a low dose chemo drug.

Teklya- one step in the right direction...YAY!!! why not go out for a breakfast or lunch tomorrow and ake your first pill then....starting on a happy note with a full belly:)...baby steps indeed. Well done1
Jo/June- drag about the toe....when our feet hurt, it causes such a feeling of instability. I have broken both my toes and it feels like our entire weight is sitting on thayt one area. Would ulra sound help bring down the swelling at all ?(it is what the chiro is using on my back each time I go in)

Teklya - go for it! You are so close and no, it isn't because "misery loves company." LOL - The benefits far outweigh the possible SE's.

My bbf informed me she feel like she is not "in the loop" because I have new friends I talk about my bc with and not her What do you say to that? I told her there is no loop, its different talking to ladies going through what your going through..wow... . sorry just venting..

Hi Ladies- just a quick update, ive been on tammy now for a week, and i have not had any SE, in fact, the stiffness of the muscles is getting better slowly...........
i am enjoying a nice glass of red this evening.............

Jo love the selection you chose......I think I will have 1 of each please.....Tink gets her choice first as her day seemed awful today.....Tink I think we need to get drunk and forget about the pain your friend has caused you.....my eye keeps scanning the red/white and blue shot glass......WOW! I cannot tell you how many years it has been since I have done a shot....ha ha

Tink - I agree with June - lets all get drunk and forget today. Heck! Maybe I won't feel my toes. LOL! Sorry your bff feels that way. Sometimes it is hard to talk to someone who hasn't gone throug BC. They view is different from ours.
Exodus - Where in Texas are you? I am in deep South Texas about 50 miles north & west from Brownsville. Just find Brownsville on a map and follow the Rio Grande River.

June you took the words right out of my mouth " one of each: lol!!! Thanks June, you know its just that she has known me for almost 10 years and she knows I have a hard time opening up and she encouraged me to find a group and she wanted to go to, but I really wanted to do this on my own, know what I mean?. I thought she would of just been happy that I found a wonderful group of ladies I am so comfortable with and find great support with not make it about her right now.. ok ok I am done venting ..again... JUNE I agree with Exodus if you have to insist they do something about your toe pain insist. When I went for my 4th yes 4th attempted biiopsy before I was diagnosed, the surgeon said to me I just cant seem to find it on the ultrasound even though the MRI picked it up I said well I am NOT leaving here until you find it and get it even if you have to biopsy the whole breast, needless to say she kept looking and found the beast, it was hiding, so insist, its your body, and you have every right too!!! hugs!JO as always wonderful selection! so cheery , colorful and dare I say theraputic tonight lol!

I really believe we do not get more than we can handle so I always know that when I have some bad days thay there is always a light at the end of the tunnel..and better days ahead and try to look back and see what can be taken from those bad days and turned it around . 0 -
June - I'm in West Texas. San Angelo, San Antonio and Austin are all three about the same distance from home which is about 130 miles. In fact, we are going to San Antonio tomorrow to Caliente Harley Davidson. DH is drooling over an '08 HD. He currently has a Yamaha Venture and a Harley Davidson Sportster. You are a long way from Texas!

Redninrah - glad you posted. It is important for those getting ready to start to hear that not everyone has side effects. Just the very nature of a discussion board will be about the SE's so those ready get the false impression that SE's are the norm. Kudos to you.

Think I am off the the cocktail bar. Not feeling really great tonight. The toes are giving me fits and I did not get much sleep last night due to the pain. I had a really long day yesterday and was on my feet and on the go for about 12 hours. Had to do about a 10 hour day today. Thank goodness for the weekend. I thought I would never say this after almost 6 months of so many doctors appts, but I will be so glad to see my onc on Monday. I am gonna make him give me something for my poor little piggies.
Sorry to bring everyone down but this really sucks.

Cocktails sound good. I can't ahve a real one until after 3 tomorrow. 24 hours post D & C but am going to a brew pub tomorrow night out of town. Should be fun.
I think it is easier to just take the plunge and start the tamox without thinking too much. I am sure there are lots of people on it with no side effects that don't post on this site.
Uneventful D & C done this afternoon. Came home and took a nap. Woke up to one of my friends from work being here with a bottle of wine, a bottle of irish cream (my boss says it taste good mixed with Vernors or ginger ale - can't imagine but will rpobably try it on Sunday) and a gift card to one of my favorite restaurants. They had all taken up a collection. I am so blessed with good friends. Now I just have to wait until next Thursday for the results of my D & C. The doctor told my husband he didn't see anything bad.
Hope everyone has a side effect free weekend.

Jo I am hoping tonight brings you some relief.....and Tink you always amaze me at how sweet you are. If it was not for you ladies I don't know where I would be......I love that we can talk about our problems or just nothing related.....you all are a wonderful group and I am so happy I joined this thread.......I am like you Tink, I really need you women and I enjoy each and every one of you......

Hi Ladies,
I just want to share what my onc told me during my appointment last Wednesday. I am to stop my multi-vitamins, no "Vitamin C' either. OK to take D-3 at 1,000 I.U. a day. I'm on Tamox 20mg, 10mg in the a.m. and 10mg in the p.m. I started since Dec 1st and now have hot flashes at least twice daily. Appetite is the same. I did complain about headaches, and it is almost a daily thing. I can't tell if I have scalp pain or not. I just want to share this with y'all.

Good to hear that your D & C was uneventful, and everything looked ok. I had one and it was the MOST PAINFUL operation I have EVERY HAD! After being on Tamoxifen 6 months, I had bleeding and had uterine polyps. The doctor removed them, but I NEVER want to go through that again!

red- I too imbibed tonight!! ad a galpal over from work..she brought the Argentinian wine and I cooked..what a gabfest!
June- nope...I was on the ground...it was in Sussex New Brunswick ...their 25 balloon festival anniversary. When I lived there, I used to watch them go down my street...wanted to go up in September...it was two weeks after surgery..but it was too windy so the balloons were delayed,....had o return to my province for work so...took pics from below. Pretty spectacular though!
Tink- for the record....you do not always have to be upbeat....that is what this train is for....I too am usually miss gogogo 150%.... don't feel I have to be on this line...I can have a lousy day if I am having a lousy day....sometimes pals who are not going through this or who know us too well ...don't get it...that is ok. They will get other things....
Jo- hope the weekend is better than the week...some weeks just aren't as pleasant or as upbeat as we would like. That is ok....the next one will be.
Peg- enjoy tomorrow once the effects from having the D&C are over...glad all went well..phew!! good to have some good news, hmm?
June- Do something fun this weekend....wish here was a balloon to jump into but if not...do something equally as fun. I am going to go and join my old roomie and her family for a weekend in jammies on her couch...assuming this wind storm stops and I can get there! hah!! She went through this event 8 years ago in her mid-30's and she has been my guiding light these past 8 months,,,,,thank the goddess (or god) for old and new friends who just let you BE

Peg - rest easy. Good news that the doc didn't see anything that concerned him. That is reassuring.
Jo - you crack me up. Here you are in pain but talk about piggies. I pictured you with your little piggie crying wee wee wee all the way home. Sorry, but I just couldn't help myself. Hope you can stay off your feet this weekend and get some pain relief. Let us know what your doc says Monday.
Diamondgirl - did you onco say why you were to stop taking multivitamins? Sorry you are having headaches. Hopefully as you body adjusts to the Tamoxifen the headaches will be less frequent.

Exodus - OMG! That is just what I needed - a good laugh. My little piggies are crying but I am trying to stay upbeat about this whole thing. I can be stubborn and did not want to go to the onc until I realized I can't walk on my toes anymore. This too shall pass.

Tinkertude, Exodus - onc said that there's a report that saids that the vitamins may be feeding the cancer and also counters/reduces the way our body metabolizes the tamoxifen.
Exodus - Thanks, I hope you are right about Tamox and the headache, I was getting paranoid.

Diamondgirl- Which vitamins????? I take vit D, CoQ10, salmon oil....good lord..is there anything we can do that will not affect the way we rect to Tamoxifen???? ARGH!

June, sorry you are dealing with toe pain too!! I'm not having that but I do have these quick, sharp little pains in the left bottom side of my head. Come and go quickly. Never had before starting Tamox. I know it has to be related. So many strange little things I swear!

DiDel, Yes, insist on the US. I had one done just before starting Tamox as a baseline just to check things out. Mine showed something on the left ovary. Very small, and not too concerning BUT since I have cancer DX they want to look at again in six weeks (this monday) to be sure it has gone away or at least gotten smaller. If it's what they think it is, it will have done one or the other. Fun stuff. Never a simple test anymore I have realized.
Tink, well I can relate to your friend story, sort of.
Mine is just a little different in that I have a very close friend from high school (30 yrs of friendship), love her but she is the type that talks about herself. Hasn't asked me a thing about me, what's going on with me, how I'm doing, how I feel, anything. We talk several times a week but it's always about what's going on in her love life and life in general, lol. So I listen and give advice...which she never takes haha. I don't really have anyone, girlfriend, to talk to that really "gets" it so I am SO thankful to have all of you here that understand EXACTLY what I am feeling and exactly what a cancer DX means and what comes after it. OMG! I just past 2,000 posts. Talk about a post hog. But then again, I have to keep you ladies well fed and enterained! LOL!
I am seeing my onc on Monday and will definitely ask about the vitamins. I take a multi vitamin, and Calcium with Vit D. He did tell me to take the Cal with Vit D for my bones but did not say anything about the other ones. That will go to the top of my list of questions. Maybe all the oncs need to get together and publlish a universal set of instructions for us so we know what to do and not do after bc dx. There are so many different opinions out there, it makes my head spin.
Will let everyone know what my onc says about the toe pains.

My Oncologist had me stop all vitamins early in the journey. When I asked my family Dr just this month, she indicated that all I should be taking is a Caltrate with D, so I am doing as I am told. Sure can be confusing though, with all the varied opinions and advice.
