    Lynda,

If you find the crystal ball, may I borrow it for a few questions? I understand your concern about the Tamoxifen and note it really messed with my emotions at first. Had depression & horrid mood swings initially but they honestly have resolved as my body adjusted to the medicine. Nausea & mood issues resolved about 3-6 months into the meds and the hot flashes have also leveled off some now that I am about 9 months out. Still not enjoyable but tolerable all things considered... I know we are all different but I hope this helps.....hugs

Count me in for the pocket party Tuesday...

    Edited to fix typos... (sheesh!)

Lynda, I'm in your pocket too! I've only been on T for two months....but have found the SE' s either lessening OR I'm getting better at managing them. If you DO go back on it...maybe it won't be as difficult for you now.....but know we are all here to support you. (((hugs!)))

Paula! Hooray! It IS B9 week! Now we don't have to worry our pretty little heads about that.... isn't that what men used to say when women tried to get involved in a discussion? I would have whacked 'em!

Jo - I'll be thinking of you on Tuesday!  It will be over before you know it and then you have a cruise with your name on it - niiice!!

My son is coming home Sunday night - finally!  I can't believe it's been 10 weeks since I've seen him!  I have to drive down to the airport and pick him up at 10:10 pm.  I'm a bit of a night owl anyway, but I don't like driving alone at night through the city.  I don't know who picked this schedule - he says both of us, but I don't think I would have chosen this...

Lynda - I wish I could answer your questions, but Tamoxifen didn't cause any of those feelings for me.  Hot flashes, but they only come about 2 or 3 times per day and don't last very long, maybe 5 minutes.  Mostly for me, it's been leg cramps but I think I've got a handle on those by stretching my calf muscles before I go to bed. I'm trying to remember if my symptoms were worse when I started 18 months ago, but I don't think so. I actually think they're a little worse now because the leg cramps didn't start until a few months ago. I've heard sometimes things can intensify while others let up over the course of treatment.

Just read that heartnsoul76 received a great report after her biopsy.  So glad.  I just had my annual mammogram last week, and received a call that the pix of my "bad" breast are "abnormal."  Have to have additional pix done this Thursday.  I am almost 3 yrs out from my initial diagnosis and almost have been having a normal, not-much-thought-about-cancer life again.  I am taking Tamoxifen and thought I was doing pretty well on it, too.

My oncologist warned me about scar tissue when I decided on a lumpectomy and not a masectomy.  So now I'm hoping that scar tissue is the culprit and not a new cancer.  Thanks for the support found on these boards.

Okay Tammi sisters.  I have to be at the hospital at 6:00 in the morning for my recon revision.  I sure need a pocket party and I know I can count on everyone here.  So nervous, going out to dinner in a few minutes with friends as a distraction and to try and calm down.

emegram: Hope it is just scar tissue for you. Wishing you the best results Thursday on those extra pix.

Jo - be careful what you wish for. Bet Tink & June could cause lots of distraction at the pocket party. I'll be there to cheer all of you on....

emegram - hoping just scar tissue.....fingers crossed.

Sherry - great picture. Aren't girls weekends the greatest? Glad you had a good time.

    Hugs to everyone.

Where in the heck is Paula?  She always comes up with some mighty nice eye candy.

Odie!  I know I have to watch Tink & June carefully.  They can stir up some trouble.  LOL!

Jo called and she is home and doing well but she was going to bed and take a nap.  Said she did not get much sleep last night.  She will be on the boards later today.

On my way to the ER.  MIL called and FIL is not breathing well so gotta go check on them.  Probably not anything but needed some breathing treatments since he won't quit smoking.

Paula, Wow! On the eye candy.  I knew you would come through.

June - When you and Tink get together, there is not telling what you two are up tp.

Just got up from a nap but still feel tired.  Did not sleep at all last night.  Everything went really smooth and quick this morning.  The hospital staff was great.  Haven't been able to see what the aerola lift looks like or the other incision for that matter.  Dressings come off tomorrow.  Follow up on the 22nd.  Hard to focus right now and having to fix too many typos. I will come back later when my head is a bit clearer.

Thanks for the pocket party - love everyone one of you amazing ladies.

Paula: Please keep the eye candy coming.  You just make my day every time I see one. And my DH doesn't. LOL!  Such good you do here.

Hi everyone -- I'm new on Tamoxifen -- began taking it on June 9th.  Have been skipping around these boards for info. Like many of you, it was a very hard decision for me. I've decided to focus on getting at least 1year of it in me... and go from there. So far only SE are hot flashes and bloated tummy. (which might be from over-eating)

I have 2 questions (sorry if they've been answered -- I'm too lazy to use the search button this morning -- plus I'd like to meet some of you here)

Did any of you have an increased appetite from Tamox? I feel like eating all the time. It is not helping me lose the few pounds gained during chemo.

Those of you in your 40's, who experienced sudden onset of menopause from chemo: Have any of you gotten your period again?

I was diagnosed at age 44 -- with very few signs of peri-menopause. My period was regular and on schedule every month. First chemo tx -- on March 1, landed me in the hospital overnight from the extreme bleeding. They were worried it was my bladder.... but it seems it was my period for the next several years all at once. And then, that was it... I haven't had any action since.  I'm not exactly missing it.... but I never had any time to read up on how to deal with menopause... how to stay youthful and healthy... what happens to the body when it stops menstruating. I'm interested in your experiences. And any tips or book suggestions would be appreciated.

ALSO: To those of you who began Tamox prior to your exchange surgery:  Did you have to stop taking it for a few weeks before and after surgery?

    Thanks for sharing!

Shera-  there are a great bunch of ladies here that I am sure can give you better answers to me about the bleeding since my period has now showed up since Dec and I could be in menopause anyway.  I can share this:  my onc got mad when I told him I stopped Tamox prior to my exchange and several days after.  I do not see the need to take it the day of.  But he was upset so it is ia question to ask your onc about that one.  Oh, i do not see any increased hunger.

Jo, glad to see you back and doing well!

Lezza, I can't figure out why your doc would be so upset over a couple days off tamoxifen - it's not as if a couple days out of 365 is going to be a make-or-break point!  He sounds a little obsessive/compulsive or something.... but if he is that attentive to this, he is probably attentive to lots of other details, which is always good.

OK, so I need the pocket party this afternoon - MRI for new "spot" on my thoracic spine.  I don't have any symptoms, so hoping it was a "false positive" on the PET scan last week.  And I know for a fact that Paula and Tink together make for a wild time, but that is OK today as it can be a little distracting and entertaining, both of which are helpful.  But let's not get too carried away and make too much of a ruckus in the scan room - those techs have a hard enough time with just ME! LOL!

    Hugs to all.

shera-  "ALSO: To those of you who began Tamox prior to your exchange surgery:  Did you have to stop taking it for a few weeks before and after surgery?"

That is exactly what I am wondering.  My onc wants me off for a few weeks prior and a couple after exchange.  He says for clotting and healing reasons.  My exchange should be in about one month or so.  I see him in on the 23.  The crazy thing is I think I have sorta adjusted to Tamoxifen and hate to go through that again.  It doesn't seem like I have have read a lot about people going off it for surgery and hope to see some other peoples experiences!!!

Shera and Sarah--"ALSO: To those of you who began Tamox prior to your exchange surgery: Did you have to stop taking it for a few weeks before and after surgery?"  I had my BMX this past March my PS had me stop taking my tamox 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after.  My MO was perfectly fine with this.  I am having my exchange surgery Aug 21st.  Again my PS is having me stop the tamox 1 week before and 1 week after and my MO is fine with it.

LInda I'll be in your pocket, praying gor B9

Linda-  of course I wiill be in your pocket. Saying prayers for B9!

Shera and Sarah- My onc thought I was on Tamox the whole time:before and after my exchange surgery. He was suprised was he found I was not taking it the whole month of July when I saw him at the end of the month.  The truth was is that I NEVER started it in the first place because I was scared of the SE's. I started taking in two weeks later after my exchange on July 11th.
