Oh, Paula!!! You just keep getting better and better!!!! Hubba-hubba drool-drool!
I shared this on another thread, but I think it is SO appropriately demonstrated by Paula: this week's sermon included a message about how we get good at something is by practicing (such as the Olympics), and if we practice good, we get better at being good, and if we practice bad, we get better at being bad. Now, in Paula's case, I think it is ALL GOOD!!!!!0 -
Paula... I think I love Mondays now!!!!
Linda... good for you! You ARE STRONG and wonderful!. well said!

ok... now I know what a pocket party is... and I'm enjoying the Monday "what's in your pocket party" pictures too!
I have 2 appointments tomorrow. Ive had a TE in since January... throughout chemo... now getting ready for exchange and found out my PS is moving! So they're giving me a "double fill" tomorrow to speed up the process. Anyone ever have a double-fill? Sounds painful... I should post on the exchange thread.... but I like the pictures over here better.0 -
shera I've never had a double fill. I know the final fill for me was the most uncomfortable one I had. I hope it goes good for you. How many cc's will they be giving you? Each fill I had was 60 cc's in each side.

linda...you are indeed STRONG!!! and I am too ...and perhaps a bit crazy...(and boy oh boy...CANNOT ype on my phone...I realllllllly need the little buttons...note to self. do Not buy any other touch phones in the future)....house is half packed...not much furniture going and I am going to ask the movers to put my couch and desk outside so that I can put them to the curb next Tuesday night..the chairs, filing cabinet and coffee table will go pretty quickly or I may just put 'em in my car and take 'em to donations....
We are ALL strong...we may not feel it...but we are. I have kept things together pretty much all week but arriving at paddle practice tonight, I realized that I REALLY needed to be there...with other strong women who have been through so much and continue to experience. stuff...it really helps to do things with like-minded people.
Shera, I dont know what a double fill is but if you are having a pocekt party, I'm IN...New York is not so far from Halifax:)(Maye Tink wil give me a fly over). hugs
Sandee

Paula I love Mandays!!!!!!
Shera I had 100cc at each fill and really none of them bothered me. I was a little tight for a couple of days. I will be having my exchange a week from today. Will be so nice to have squishes.
Speaking of my exchange next Tuesday I am officially on tammi break for surgery. Will be off tammi for two weeks.

Hi ladies, I'm not sure yet, but this is my situation: I get to see my ONC that gave me a 9 month reprieve on the Anti-estrogen treatments... Wonder what he has in mind - next weds I see him - I need your help the three that I tried, he took me off because of unbearable side effect... I tried and he said it wasn't worth me suffering that bad, but was talking tamoxifen?? I still have my ovaries that are supposedly shut down, but the SE of cancer of the ovary?? Not sure what to do.. But I don't want the cancer back either.. I'm in a conundrum..0

gmafoley I was like you at the start. The first time I had BC I flat out refused to take Tammo because of the SE. I worried about them. Well fast forward 1 1/2 yrs and I had cancer in the other breast and this time it was more aggresive and larger. I was still concerned with taking the Tammo, but I'm more worried of it coming back. I'm still kinda concerned with the SE but I've looked all over and what I've read had been reasuring. I'm not saying that it won't happen to me, no one knows for sure, I'm just trying to do my best at keeping this from happening further. I do have a trans vag us every year and that really helps me with the mind game side of it. That is the best thing in my mind that can help with detection as far as the SE go. There is just so much info going on out there, that its so hard sometimes to make a choice. Everyone has their own idea as to whats the best way to go, but in the end, the choice has to be up to the person facing it. Good luck in whatever you choose. Just remember that whatever you choose that its your right to choose and don't let anyone talk you into something just because they think this is what you should do.

gma - I had to switch to Tamoxifen from the Al's. On it two years, 8 mo now with minimal se's. post menopause by 20 years now. Both PCP and ONC checking and testing for possible reproductive system problems. I know can never be free of worry but am comfortable with my decision to continue to fight the devil I know and confront his minion if he shows up.0

Hearing what you have to say about this before I go in helps ease my mind - just please, don't sugar coat anything here - I need to find what other ladies are experiencing, good or bad, so I can weigh my decision...Thank you all again for any responses..

gma I had a pretty rough start on tammo but my MO told me to hang in there my body would adjust to just trust him. I did and he was right, my body did adjust it took about 3-4 months. The only thing that did not adjust was I ended up with sever hot flashes. Literally one after the other and they never stopped day or night so I ended up on effexor. It has worked like a charm, no more hot flashes.

GMA - I had to get off the AIs, had really bad SEs. Been on tammo since January 2011 and the SEs such as hot flashes are minimal. You said not to sugar coat so here goes. My problem seems to be what tammo is doing to the other end. Last year I had a trans vag US done - on advice of several sistas and I had to have a hysteroscopy/D&C done to remove a 1.5cm fibroid tumor. Fast forward to GYn visit this year. Had another trans vag US and this time had another hysteroscopy/D&C done and had a 3 cm polyp removed. I have to ask myself just what in the hell is going on here. My MO does not know about the procedure this year since I don't see him until December but I am thinking that a complete hysterectomy including the ovaries is what I need next summer. Why don't I do it now? Because I have had 3 surgeries this year and that is enough. Had the GYN procedure plus breast recon and a revision. I am trying to heal from the last revision - DH and I are going on a cruise in 2 weeks and I want to be able to go snorkeling. I know it must be a difficult decision for you but I know you will do what is best for you.

DH Says that he feels the BC is easier to deal with than ovarian cancer, in my case - so he is anti - any anti-estrogen route.. He says its fighting BC and trading it with ovarian cancer... I just think he is done seeing my SE reaction to meds that have been tried... He wants me to tell my MO to get lost.... Why doesn't he do that for me if that is his reasoning??? end of rant... I am just so frustrated and scared... I can't let BC rule my life...I need to rule it... but DH just thinks I can hide it in a corner and deal with it when it happens again (all my mom's sisters recurred at 5 years without treatment)...ok now end of rant - I am lost and confused.

Ok, so the ovaries aren't affected?? just the uterus (which I don't have)..

GmaFoley it's my understanding on of the SE is the uterine cancer. I know that's why they have me do a trans vag us every year. While they are there checking for that, they also will check your ovaries. They check for any thickning of the uterus so incase there are issue's it's caught early. My Onc stressed the point that it uterine cancer that the Tammo has been known to cause. That is one reason why I make for sure that I get checked yearly for it. Tey will also check your ovaries while they are there. My Aunti was in her 70's when she took it and the only real problem she mentioned was the thickning of her uterus.
About the only things that the Tammo has done to me is the major hot flashes, mood swings, night sweats, and joint pain. I know that alot of ladies don't have many issues with it at all.

Hello ladies,
I am sorry for MIA, i've had sooooo many things going on all at once (house hunt, making an offer, closing, packing, moving out of the aot and moving into our new home, school for kids, after school program, new job etc etc and to top it all and my dad is not well:-( Please forgive me for being quiet, i have not had time to sit on the computer.. when i put the kids to bed and its all quiet, all i want to do is get on my bed and sleep!!
Hope all of you are doing well. I am doing good. So, i recently noticed that i have this pain on my upper left side, on the rib area (that is the side that i had my lumpectomy & radiation), i feel the pain when i touch/press the area, if i dont touch/press i dont feel anything. I've had this for almost a week now.... Is anyone experiencing this? Not sure if its Tammy side effect or someything else.. I am going to see my primary care doc on monday.
Have a blessed weekend!!

It has been so helpful to read all of your comments on Tamoxifen. I just took me second dose. Like some here in the thread I stared at the bottle for about 24 hours before taking it. But I made some good use of the time by making a list of ten things one might do with a bottle of Tamoxifen.

I wish none of us had to go down this road, but I am so grateful for your posts. It's like being given a flashlight as you start down this shady journey.
Thanks so much!

Welcome Scorchy. If you need anything just post away. Someone around here should be able to help. The gals here are the best. We do get silly sometimes, but get down to the bussiness at hand when needed.
Good to see you again Snoopy!

Getting ready for my exchange surgery on Tuesday. Getting nervous to see what the final girls will look like.

Praying for you Sherryc - You will do fine, just know we are all there in spirit!

Sherry - How exciting for you. It has been a tough journey and the end is finally in site. I will be at that pocket party. You will have to let us know how it turns out. HUGS!!

Sherry will be in those pockets for both days!!!!
The exchange is pretty easy. I know each doctor is different in how they do things. I had to miss 5 days of work, even though I have a desk job. Even when I came to from the exchange, my pain level wasn't bad at all. I did sleep in the recliner for a few more days, but after that, went back to my bed. For a week no raising my arms up, thats why I had to wear button or zip up shirts. I had to wear a bra 24, 7 for a month, that part drove me nuts. Just keep in mind that they won't have the same shape as your expanders. It's alot more comfortable thats for sure. I love my girls and am glad I chose silicone.
