Notself ... loved your last post.  Wish we had a "like" button.

Santorum scares me.  My only hope is that if he is the Republican candidate that there are enough sane people left who are voting.

Yes, the idea of a politician stating that Satan is on a personal vendetta against the US is pretty scary!  What mad laws would somebody like him try to introduce if he were in power? Witch hunts?

I try to maintain hope that If Santorum were to become the Republican nominee there is no way he would be elected to office. Surely, if the women's vote continues to be as strong as it has been, there are enough stable, grounded, proactive women who would keep that man out of a position of power.

Just a reminder to everyone that these forums are not the place for political discussions. Please keep criticisms of the characteristics of parties, their candidates, and their followers out of the forums.

    Thank you.

Interesting.  Are all threads monitored for political statements?  I have seen other criticisms of the characteristics of parties, their candidates, and their followers in other threads.  I have to say, this is the first time I've seen them deleted.

Granted, I haven't been here that long and I couldn't possibly see all that the mods feel necessitates their intervention.  I have to say, however, this one surprises me.

I don't know that anything was deleted (but I may be wrong), just a reminder to not discuss politics on BCO, I think.

Ummm ... you don't know if anything was deleted?

Read above posts from Sunflowers & Lindasa ...

This post was deleted by Moderators.

I understand the reminder. My questions & concerns still stand.

Hmmmm -- You know I honestly don't remember what I posted that the Mods felt they had to remove (CRS these days, which I blame *entirely* on Femara!).

However, while we in Canada are comfortable in the knowledge that religion is quite separate from government, I am concerned for my American pals that they are increasingly unable to enjoy the same freedom from religion.  If that is considered "discussing politics" in this particular thread, then I do apologize.

I don't remember your exact post either, Linda. I simply recall that it was on topic.  I certainly don't recall that it was so out of line that I thought it might be deleted.  I think I would remember it being that obviously offensive.

Perhaps there was a mistake. After all, Mods are only human. Wait, let me consider both sides.  Perhaps Linda and Sunflower were really nasty in their posts.  Nope, sorry, I find the latter very hard to believe.

Somebody complained to the mods.  Not the first time ... won't be the last.  We try to stay in the guidelines and still talk about what is going on in the world.  And we'll continue to do both to the best of our ability.  With this being an atheist thread and religion in government being in the news so much this election cycle it's kind of an important subject to us and hard to avoid.

I can't remember what the deleted posts were either.  Which does not mean that I don't pay attention to what you say Linda and Sunflowers ... just that I can't remember sh*t anymore Kiss

No problem, cookie.  I'm sorry I was so abrupt.

notself - I know the mods have a difficult job but I really don't understand what was so objectionable that it had to be deleted.  I have read some pretty appalling things on other threads and those things are not deleted.

In reality this is their site and to use it we have agreed to abide by their rules... From past experience we have seen how ugly it can get when it is out of control. I believe anyone can open her own website to express opinions:-)

What is appropriate language for the three ring circus of clowns. The political views of others can impact our lives in womens health and religious stands that have nothing to do with the politics of others. Keep church and state seperate. Not to mention my health choices and my rights.

Religion is open to discussion on these boards, but politics is not?  Not sure I understand the reasoning behind that.

Here is the rule regarding religion and politics.

You agree to respect differences among participants in race, religion and sexual orientation, among others. You acknowledge that Breastcancer.org respects all political and religious beliefs and agree to limit your discussion of politics and religion to their role in your physical and emotional health.

I can't remember what was on the posts that were deleted.  If we broke the rule it was just a small break.  A warning without deletions would have been appropriate because then we all would have been able to see exactly where the posts violated the rule.  As it is now, we can discuss politics and the effects that the opinion of politicians have regarding health and health coverage.  Birth control, family planning and the treatment of women are IMHO health issues.  However, I still don't understand where the deleted post violated the rule.

Recent politics have a HUGE role in my emotional health.  Between certain factions trying to crawl up inside my lady parts and others trying to discontinue breast screening, and still others espousing the satanics of birth control, I'm about to slit my wrists.

    Somebody talk me down.

    Listen All,

Religion and politics are okay, as long as the discussions can remain respectful, and not break our Rules of Conduct.

Please refrain from reporting posts when you simply disagree with a remark, as long as the post does not break the rules. Opinions need to be tolerated.

    Thanks for your understanding!

I just received two messages from the moderators that I find very confusing.  Perhaps someone can help me understand.

I have not used the report post function in over a year nor have I sent more than one PM in the past several months.  Here is the first message.  Perhaps there is a problem with the automatic message function.

    Hello notself,

Due to mis-use, we have revoked your ability to report posts that violate the Community Rules (http://community.breastcancer.org/help/rules).  In addition, you can now only send a handful of private messages each day.

Abuse of the post reporting functionality and private
messaging systems are a serious infraction of the rules, and may also result in
your account being temporarily or permanently banned from the Community.

Thank you for helping us maintain a supportive and
welcoming community for those diagnosed with breast cancer.

    Sincerely,

    The Breastcancer.org Team

Here is the second automatically generated message.  Does anyone see where any of my posts have violated the rules?

Do you ever wonder, why someone is reading this thread, if they are SO OPPOSED to what is being discussedWink

Of ALL the threads on BCO, why would someone "report" posts on this thread - unless they were oppposed to telling women to "put an aspirin between their knees" - that was a comment made on the NATIONAL PUBLIC NEWS - Andrea Mitchell was the person to whom it was said.  Is that some kind of a secret?????  Must be Satan that made the people reports posts on this thread.  Who else could have done it??????

I'm afraid the Thought Police would love to see this thread taken down.  I think they believe that, if it causes too much trouble (e.g. too many posts removed "by the community") then the Mods will either lock or delete the thread altogether.  Yes, it's happened before <sigh>

I'm quite confident that the Mods can see through this childish, uncivil behaviour.

Notself -- The Mods have the ability to check through all of the activity of individual posters, and I'm sure yours will be straightened out pronto.

I'm not an atheist but would still like to join this discussion group.  I'm not anti-religious per se, but having been raised in a fundamentalistish christian religion, I steer very clear of any faith that is consuming and/or controlling.  I have my own view of god and am fairly comfortable with it.  I don't push it on other people and prefer that they show me respect by not pushing their view on me.

I got a lot of "I'll pray for you" from people when they heard I had breast cancer.  My response was always "thank-you" because I knew that they wanted to say something positive to me, and that felt very positive to them.

I cannot comment upon your prior posts, notself, as I did not see them.  But from what you say, it seems possible that there was bug in the machine....  :)

Mods ... is it safe to assume that you are reviewing the posts by notself, BinVA and WhiteRabbit on the previous page that have been 'Removed by the Community'???

I don't think any of them broke any rules and in fact it looks like you had already looked at them since they are old ones.

The reporters have probably pushed us all to the corner so we will need our cages unlocked Wink

    Thank you muchly!
