    Hi and Happy Mon Evening!

Hope that everyone has had a good Monday...so windy here;thinking of those who had weather issues during the past weekend. We had lots of rain and wind was really blustery today,at the real shore. It felt like Winnie-the-Pooh was trying to hold onto Piglet when I was out. Then,it became sunny and has blown-out to sea. Unique weather issues in so many areas of our country and world.

Margaret...glad that you had a good Sunday and nice weather for the day and Jacob's ballgame. I know all the flowers were absolutely beautiful in your house. It seems silly, but all those irises(at Kroger) looked so lonely and I bought every bunch as they were half-price. Then, today brought them to my mother and they do look good and cheerful. That is the gift I give to myself as I did get the script and recycled two weeks' stuff. Next time I am at a Kroger,I will check on the tube roses. The smells are so magnificent and I know exact what you mean.

neesie...so sorry abt May's memories...OK we are nearly half-way;yes,on Thur late. Not rushing time...just on to June,OK? So sorry abt the client as that must really be difficult when it is someone that you have become attached to through caring and job. Hope that DD feels better very soon. We could write a book and it would be funny! We would have a blast as we seem to have similar situations and perspectives;although, you are much more sane...thus,my name...bearlysane! See,don't you feel better already! Thinking of you!!!I would sing Annie's theme song...hate to start a stampede, though of people and animals rushing away. LOL

Jas..love that abt the cooking as that is so me;you have posted some awesome recipes and I know I am schooled in microwaving and that is abt it! Today, for lunch,on way to parents' house,Wendy's cookie dough ice cream! Now,wonder why the weight is stuck fast??? Tomorrow is another day! I am hoping that Johnny Depp comes with the Black Pearl??? Now,that would really add flair to a treasure hunt! Love those movies and he gets my vote for captain!

Sahalie, your day sounded fabulous and so glad that it was. The beach is a fun spot and sport. I do love all the activities and you are so gifted with your descriptions...I picture myself right there with you. Frisbees and the dogs just sounded delightful! I could picture the dogs chasing the frisbees and everyone laughing;great food in the picnic basket;sand on the toes and sticking to everything! The smells of the food and the suntan lotions/potions/ocean's motions/notions...yeah,I think the Sunday sunny outing sounded awesome! You are the poetic one;my friend, but I thank you for the nice compliment.I know exactly what you are saying abt the smells of flowers or fragrant bushes that remind us of a childhood memory. That was me a few wks back when I traced-down the honeysuckle smell while out on a walk around the farm...just knew it was there and it was! Love the Scavenger Hunt...thanks so much as it is fun remembering things from real beach days.

Wing...glad that your Sunday was good and I like that song, too! My favorite group singing it is The Drifters as no one else can do it like they can. Some of the others are OK...but hearing them with those "Under the boardwalk, down by the sea...eeeeee  Yeah..." Got that one on the iPod and love all those oldies. How abt your Monday? Do you have the day care at your house as I remember someone saying they did;sorry, having memory lapses...what memory/mind??? LOL Glad that your Mother's Day was good.

Iris/bearlysane tonight...bearlyawake as I made it here in a few hrs;then we went to parent's dr's appt for a few hrs...ready to go to sleep real soon!

    Evening ladies,

Sahalie, hot weather is coming!  I love fresh flowers and they look so nice in my house.  Ryan doesn't have any interviews set up :-( but he's not getting discouraged.  No one is hiring.  Someone said he should apply with the city of San Franciso - they have junior helpers or something.  I'm glad you had a great mother's day.  My day was perfect too.

Iris, you would have loved our weather today, perfect spring weather.

Neesie, sorry May is such a tough time for you.  Sweet dreams and sleep tight.

Faith, what a beautiful family you have.

    Good Morning!

Another chilly day in the Midwest..............don't think the calander remembers that it is Mid May!!

Iris:  Me, Sane????????  Oh, no, no, no...............I lost that somewhere between 1954 and 1960!!!!!  Having met Susan in person, and know you from cyber-inperson..........we have to be triplets from different MOMS!!!!

Jas: Love the 'kinda cook' comment!  I keep telling DH I'm going to start cooking everynight cuz I'm tired of the crap he eats ..........  but saying and doing just aren't coming together to well!!

Part of our problem is that who the heck knows what they want for dinner 24 hours in advance???????  Therefore, nothing gets taken from the freezer and yada, yada, yada..............Second problem is I like to eat at lets say..Dinner time..And he prefers to come in and eat huge amounts at 8:30 and then go to bed!!

Faith:  What great pictures!!  You have such a photogenic (is that a word?) family!!  DD looks stunning and the new BF ain't to shabby himself!!!!  Glad that Super Glue to the rescue saved the day, or shall I say the Oboe!!

Love the pics everyone came up with for the Scavenger Hunt!  Sahalie has a prize for the winner!!!!!!!!!!  Hey, Sahalie......does it move and live on the beach????

Margo and Iris............You guys have me smelling flowers!!  I think I'll stop at Krogers and get a bouquet myself!!  You guys have Krogers stores??  I thought they were a MI store...........

    Phone...........brb..I hope!

Jaz, that's a parea?  I thought it was a typo and Sahalie actually meant a pareo so tha's what I went hunting for last night LOL.

Neesie, we don't have Kroger's here but I sure have lots of flowers.

I guess it's time to get up and shower.  Hope you all have a good day.

Parea??  I was going to Google that one!!

Margo.........up and at em!!  Dang friend..it's only (not quite) 5:30a in CA!!

Gosh.........the phone distrupted my remaining brain cells and I don't know who, what or where I was...................it was my DD and she is feeling much better........must have been a nasty 24 hour bug........I don't like fevers..so let's hope she is on the mend.

Mental note to self:  remember to post bean 'recipe' and summer squash soup..which sounds pure nasty but it is very good!!

Okay...now I'm going to wonder all day what a pareo is!  Just FYI:  the parea is a bird usually found in New Zealand.  At least, that's what it said on Wikipedia.  :)

Neesie, glad DD is feeling better.

Jaz, pareo is one of those little itty bitty cover ups you wear over your bathing suit when you're in Hawaii or Mexico, you know, the kind that ties at the neck, or at the hips.  I have a few, but they aren't so itty bitty.

I had a rough time logging in here for some reason.

I need a Ben & Jerry's to cover the stress factor.

    Margaret is right about the

They are actually spelled Pareu's (sarongs).

We each received one in Polynesia last October.

My mistake in the spelling.  More Ben & J's please.

You all are finding amazing pictures for the scavenger hunt.

Jasmine, the turquoise flip flop ......priceless.

Neesie, we need to get your DD to the beach pronto.

I'm so glad she is feeling much better.

Another note to Jaz.  Kudos on the bird find.

Plus it's a pretty bird and I LOVE New Zealand!

We all learned it's name today so thank you for that!

I just ate a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch and feel really awful.

    Where's the Ben & J's?  Help.

    Back to my misspelled word.

We actually visited an artist on Bora Bora who silk screens the most beautiful Pareu's in his work shop.

I do know the word is pronounced "Peraaya" phonetically.

I'm highlighting so I remember how to spell the word.

I love Polynesia and everyone there.

    We are returning this October.

Good luck on the rest of the scavenger hunt.

I need to go fix my tummy ache.

Margaret,  Beautiful picture of the Pareu's!

You are correct in spelling Pareo for Hawaii.

It is Pareu in Polynesia.  Both the same though.

I was out with the birds this morning getting everything watered and tuscan pots

hauled into shaded areas for safe keeping since we are scheduled to hit 99* Thursday.

I work so hard to keep things green so am on major alert during this heat.

I also pulled out the deck umbrella, opened it up,

got a bowl of hot sudsy water with old dish towel and scrubbed it off while on it's side on the ground.

It's a big one so was a chore but it sure looks nice and I have it in the table outside.

Shade is all important for us beach girls.

Jaz - Thanks for playing my song.  Even though I could not hear on dial up I could hear Iris singing "down by the sea eeeee yeah".

Sahalie - Scavenger hunt was fun and we found out about Pareo & Parea. B & J sure sounds good!

Faith - Great pictures of the family. Clever idea on the glue fix I was going to suggest duct tape LOL... my all time fix.

Margo - Loved the pareo pix or was that pareu. How neat your DD was on stage w/ NYSNC. My DH even took DD and friends to BB concert I stayed home - had my share of the BB. He came home exhausted saying he never heard so many screaming teenage girls and he wore ear plugs.

Iris - I will have to try your caramel coffee sounds yummy. Still waiting for the grand opening of our new Starbucks. Yes I am the one w/ the Day Care. For now I am just doing a Latchkey program - before and after school care. Summertime I will be busy with a full house. I think you all know my name is Bonnie - my nickname is BonBon - guess what my Day care is called? You know how I love chocolate - BONBON'S Day Care! My day care children all call me BonBon.

Nessie - Hope May goes by quickly for you. June is right around the corner - fun times at the beach.

    I found crab.........

To Funny............Faith and Wings both have crabs!!

Wings.......I give you so much credit for running a daycare!  I love kids but there is no way I could run a daycare...or work in one!!

Jas...........The bean recipe..........just looked the actual recipe up..it came from one of those little books that a group put together......where everyone submits a few recipes!  My ex-mother in law gave it to me in 1978!!!!

Here's the recipe then I'll put my version down:

    Baked Beans

    1 lb. hamburger

    1 onion

    1 can kidney beans, drained

    1 can lima beans, drained

    1 can pork and beans

    1/2 C. 'catsup'

    1/4 C. brown sugar

    1/4 C. sugar

    2 TBSP. Vinegar

    1/2 tsp. garlic salt

A little diced green pepper and celery

    A little cut-up bacon

Brown hamburger with onions and salt and pepper. Mix rest of ingredients together and put in roasting pan and bake at 300 for 35 minutes.

Wow...haven't looked at that in a long time...............I had forgotten about the vinegar and garlic salt!

    What I do:

    1 lb. Ground Chuck

    chopped onion

    chopped Green pepper

    1/2 to 1 package bacon

    1 lg. Bush's Baked Beans.......NOT drained

Any other beans you want..........I use   Pinto, Great Northern, Light Kidney, Black Beans.............drained.

    Brown Sugar

    Ketchup

    Mustard

    Brown the Ground Chuck

Cut Bacon into pieces and cook

Saute the onion and Green Pepper in the Bacon drippings

(drain all the above on paper towel)

In lg. bowl combine lg. can of regular beans along with DRAINED cans of the rest of the beans.  Add the Ground Chuck, Bacon, Onions and Green Pepper.........stir it all up.

Add Brown Sugar, Mustard and Ketchup to your liking.

Bake at 300 to 350 for about an hour and a half to two hours.  Depends on how big of a batch you make and the degree of the oven!!

This does make quite a lg. amount.............you can tweak it and cut down on items to make a smaller one!

    Hope it works for you!

This is getting scary, as I actually cooked again tonight!!!!  (I've eaten, but the Man hasn't)..............I think it was called, "Inside out Cabbage Rolls"....another 'light' recipe and I really thought it was good!!

I wish I could find some good Chicken recipes..................get tired of Chicken...........but don't mind putting it in things............!!

Hi to all...and I'll see you later....................hoping everyone is having a good day!

Anyone else getting greeted by the "Oh Dear" lady?

She greets me then I click back two and I'm on the beach.

    Strange way to get here.

Wings and Faith I love the crabby hermits you found.

They look like relatives in two sizes and so cute.

Neesie I didn't see your question earlier today when I was here.

    YES and YES.   Interested?

Ah men and the love affair with their garages.

I think if it came between a man and his garage and a woman, well I think the garage just might win.

    Just maybe.

Your pumpkins and watermelons sound so good.

    So does your recipe.

Cold chicken salad sounds good to me right now.

    Topped with balsamic vinegar.

Ok so far for the scavenger hunt we have:

    1.   Turquoise flip flop

    2.   Hermit crab

    3.   Pillow with fringe

    4.   Favorite beach

    5.   Pareo/Pareu

    6.   Girl listening to shell (hilarious picture by the way)

What else am I missing? I don't have the list in front of me.

Anyone watch the "Bachelor" finale last night?

Do you think they will last?  Was Shane on the level or acting?

Iris * Imagine yourself walking along a white sand beach with the beautiful blue waters lapping at the shore while the scent of tropical flowers drifts through the air.

I wish this for you each day.

    YOu did it!

The ones I missed when trying to remember were:

Picture of beach you would most like to be on right now.

    Shell necklace

    Black pearls

    *

I read back and saw the pictures.

Okay everyone wins and get ready ladies.

The beach boys are your prize and you will be

treated to a day of fun in the sun and an evening of partying at Mario's place.

    Particulars later.

I do know one event so far and that is palm frond races by the lagoon.

Congrats girls.  You are the best!

Nessie - Are we going to get a cookbook from you and Jaz?

A comedy book on MOM from you and Iris?

    And don't forget Sahalie's adventures.

Our Dear Faith already has a book. Maybe another one on the way?

Margo - We could do scrapbooking book LOL

Jaz - How about a song book too?

Dear Beach Friends, I am getting ready for the Relay for Life in Washington and guess what.....its going to be in the 80s! I have been told I have to wear my full body Lymphedema garment and use my cane. I was not happy I would rather be on the beach. I will do fine I just needed a pity party once in awhile. Take care, I am happy to be able to be in it. Hugs, Debbie
