LIFES A BEACH!

Hi beach buds,
Weather is so much more tolerable this afternoon than it has been, weather was very nice today. Went grocery shopping and then to my cooking club. Boy, was the food good. So, now I'm just relaxing on the couch, watching 60 Minutes.
Iris, bought irises, tuberoses, and freesia at the farmer's market yesterday. The volunteer opportunity sounds great, and what a great project. If you've never been to CA, you have to put it on your list of places to see. When you come, you have to see San Francisco, Sausalito, and Carmel anyway. You'd love them all. Here's the recipe for my ice cream - 5 ingredients - super easy:
1/2 cup lime juice
2 tablespoons tequila (can use cheap tequila)
3 tablespoons triple sec
1-1/4 cups powdered sugar
2 cups heavy creamPour the lime juice, tequila and triple sec into a bowl and stir in the sugar to dissolve. Add the cream and
softly whip until thick and smooth but not stiff (I have used both an immersion blender and a Kitchen Aid with
the whisk). Spoon into an airtight container and freeze overnight. It will be a soft serve, with the consistency
of sherbet. Sprinkle with lime zest and serve with cinnamon sugar tortilla crisps if desired.
Cinnamon Sugar Tortilla Crisps
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Flour tortillas
Melted butter or spray margarine spreadCombine cinnamon and sugar. Brush tortillas with butter or spread. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and cut into
8 wedges. Bake in 400 degree oven for 4 - 6 minutes. Store in airtight container.
No, we won't do a cookbook because we have a website where we post our recipes and pictures.
Dana, a swimup bar sounds pretty good to me, especially on days like today.
Faith, that would describe my girlfriend to a T - she was a part-time Creative Memories consultant and I guess gave it up to do the compression sleeves - have to find out if she has a website. Absolutely, you can be a cyber member of my cooking club. How bout I tell you what the food brought is each month?
Amy, how did Tucker do? My town's claim to fame, besides having the school that Tom Brady and Barry Bonds went to is some of the graduates from one of the local high schools - Lynn Swann (old football player) and Alicia Silverstone (Clueless). This school's performing arts center rivals any big theater, and I understand the high school plays that come from there rival Broadway plays.
Sahalie, are we meeting in Golden Gate Park soon?
Guess I'm going to watch the country music awards, at least until Desperate Housewives is on. Everyone have good evening.

OMG Faith,
That shirt is priceless and WonderBoy is precious.
I love it.
It says so much being worn by a precious little soul.
Wow.
Jasmine, Bring Orlando on over.
Mario likes competition, doesn't pout or anything.
Orlando is so easy on the eyes. So is Johnny for that matter.
Iris, Beautiful parrot but I know what you mean about birds.
Yes, that's the margarita maker.
I have to get with the program and get over to Sur La Table to see if they have them.
The count down is on.
Golden Gate Park is in the heart of San Francisco.
A beautiful park, lush green, Japanese Tea Garden, DeYoung Museum, etc.
Many wondrous things to venture through.
The Park is mostly shaded so wonderful to walk through.
Margaret lives south of San Francisco down by the airport.
Straight over as the bird flies from SFO in the land of the El Camino Real and Eucalyptus trees that line it.
I live North of San Francisco up in the middle of lot's of vineyards.
Wings, that poor limbo girl looks as if she needs some oxygen.
I would too though if I tried it so I shouldn't talk.
Back to continue watching Mario twirl his fiery torches and dance all over the beach.
A nice way to end the evening.
I am loving this cool temp evening.
Love to all.
Faith, again, I love that little shirt on your little guy.

My sweet beach friends..... some of you I've had the pleasure to hug in person and others only the chance to send cyber hugs.....
This has been a very "moving" weekend for me, particularly the opportunity to walk amidst so many of our sisters. I knew that I wasn't especially well rested (what with having taken the twins-non-sleeping-shift-from-4-a.m.-till-the-alarm-went-off) but wanted so much to participate. So off we went....... I knew that I was in over my head emotionally when I was in tears just seeing the pink ribbons on the first lamp pole.
Seeing the thousands and thousands and thousands gathered in our honor was amazing. Over whelming. Young and old. Black and white. Women and men. Cultures of all kinds. Children. Dogs on leashes. Families of all persuasions. Everywhere you looked there was a woman in pink. Some folks had pictures of loved ones lost. Others had tshirts that proclaimed a part of a much longer story.
So many differences and yet one commonality. We have so many personalities here -- on this site, at this thread. So many different stories. Again, one commonality.
I took the following picture, feeling like I was intruding on a very special and intimate family moment. I don't know Number 425 personally, but I thought her image, crossing the finish line, receiving her pink rose and hugging her husband and young child, was the one image I wanted to store in my heart.
She is the reason that we walk. She is the reason that we must unite whatever differences separate us, so that we can offer her hope for her future. She's got spunk. She's got verve. She deserves a cure. Our daughters and grand-daughters deserve a cure. Let's keep walking as long as necessary, to insure a brighter future. To honor those who have fallen. To celebrate others who will never need to know this experience. Let's keep on walking, supporting each other in our own walk. One step after the other. Number 425 deserves our committment to each other to be as strong as our committment to finding the cure. Let's be stronger, let's grow stronger by uniting for our cure.

faith, what a photograph! That has to be such an emotional moment and I can still picture(Komen event 2006)a wife who did the survivor's walk and hugged her husband so tightly, both, crying and I was crying. It was like she saw him at the fringe of the crowd;had completed the survivor's walk;she raced over with her one rose. They hugged and the two of them were such a united team; that beautiful visual will stick in my mind forever. It is like the emotions that you have captured here...pictures always can express more than a thousand words.
Thanks for sharing...WB's t-shirt is awesome...front and back words and designs.
I do not know this beach person's story. I just typed in the words..beat cancer. It just seemed like it fitted in with our beach motifs and our awesome writers and photographers.
You are right,faith,together...we each can help to change the world for our families, ourselves and each other.
I thought this interesting as the V could stand for Victory as the fingers cover-up the two letters and form the word "beat".

Good morning Beach Ladies. Happy Monday! I'm up and out early today.
0 -
Faith, I started my morning with tears reading your post. Thanks for sharing your pictures and I love WB's tshirt.
Iris, I liked the beach person's photo. With her arms like that, it could be considered a V for Victory as well.
Jaz, I can barely type my name so early in the am, let alone find a song of the day!
0 -
Margaret -- trust me. It wasn't by choice that I was up and out this early. They keep giving me these 'buttcrack of dawn' appointment times and tie that in with up to an hours drive time just to get there. But at least you get a really great parking spot when you get the first mammo slot at 7:30 am in the morning. They scheduled my next ct scans in November for 6:30 am. Can you believe that??

That picture says it all.
Beautiful Faith, Beautiful.

High Noon in MI............break out the Margaritas! I'm thinking of hiding at the beach for awhile until MI remembers that it is Spring and brings some warmer temps!
Margo.........your Ice Cream sounds delicious! A cooking club sounds like fun....nothing like that around here that I am aware of. Small town syndrome! Of course, if I did find one, it would have to be one that focused on pre-made, no slicing or dicing, one pan, 10 minutes meals!
Wings........I definitely remember the Cabana 'boys' at the luncheon.....so your pool boys didn't leave you exactly drooling, huh?!!
I feel for you with Dial Up.......had it for a long time.............DH wasn't crazy about paying for high speed........but I won!! The only thing we can get is Comcast and I'm not crazy about them...but in hicksville #2, if you want internet and tv.......you get Comcast!
Iris: Chocolates and Applebees........sounds like a great day to me! Think I gained 5 pounds just reading your post!
The Organization that you're in has sparked my interest....do tell more! I am totally fascinated with quilts of all kind............they are so interesting to look at and so often each piece tells a story!
Are you back to the parents this week, or off for good behavior?! They are lucky to have you for a daughter....you spend alot of time with them. Might be why you're 'bearlysane'.........but hey!
Speaking of quilts.........do any of you remember the quilt that our Shirley (who I really miss) made last year for Pinkstock? It was made up of a bunch of bras that she somehow turned into a beautiful piece of work. It was auctioned off and won by Guz who so loveinly (spell check is not correcting that spelling...lovinly, loveinly..) presented it to Cy. Beautiful quilt and great memories!
Faith.......slow down before you fall down! Wonderboy's t-shirt is so cute..reminds me that I have to order my GD's shirt. She doesn't walk with us yet, but I get her a t-shirt every year, and she wears it on walk day! Should look and see what they have in the infant dept. too!
The picture above and the post from you are beautiful. It really shows what this is all about..........................A CURE............one step at a time. It's time.
Sahalie........Love reading your post and seeing the activity of the day! I'd definitely pass on the limbo, but if Mario is going to be there....ummmmm, so am I!!
Sounds like you and Margo aren't to far apart.........have you ever met??
Jasmine..........I thought you were up early for work.............the Mammo is what inspired your early awakening today! Good luck and if you see the Mammo Monster that got a hold of me last time..........grab your gown and run like the wind! Why do you have to have a CT Scan in November?
DebC..........Hope the weekend was good for you and your family. Do you know when your Chemo will be finished, yet? So wish you could come to MI again this year and on to New York................We'll have to wait until next year to meet up again.
Now, unroll your beach towel and like Wings said.....come sit in the shade with us and have a Margarita.....colored blue, of course!
I'm sure I've skipped some.........but hey....the above is from Memory, so consider it your lucky day...........as when I go from memory I usually mess events up terribly and start vicious rumors!!
Oh yea.....Iris, this is for you. This weekends lesson from GD.........."look, there is a Creek." (my reply)....yes, kinda like a small lake, isn't it?....(GD's reply)...."Well, actually a creek feeds into lakes and rivers".......Okay, then..thankfully this was on her way home.........sooooooooooo Grandma eats crow again!

Neesie,
I won't do the limbo either. I'd have to be taken to the ER stat.
Let's hang out with Mario at the margarita shack.
Margaret and I live an hour and 20 minutes from one another.
Have not met yet but one day hopefully we will.
I see Mario waving.
He's got the bomb beach house too, remember it?
Hey look at those beach shells glistening on the sand.
Let's all go get some and make some wild and crazy jewelry.

Hello everyone.
The play was wonderful and i was very proud of the boy. not to mention he was very impressed with himself also but of course would never admit it. I attended all 3 shows of course and wouldnt have missed it for the world. I had chemo on Friday so I did manage to nap during the shows on Saturday in my truck while they went and grabbed some lunch. Very exciting and very moving. Hard to imagine these are mostly 10th and 11th graders and Tuck is in the 8th. Thanks to everyone for the kind words regarding him and his play.
Deb-unroll the beach blanket and scoot over missy. We can sit and drink our drinks and whine together about our chemo. We can play who has the worse side effects or who has the most numb fingers?
Margo-the ice cream sounds wonderful. I wrote that down and will have to try it. I wonder how it would work in an ice cream freezer?
Faith-lovely pics of the race. thanks for sharing.
Sahalie-you and Margo should get together for sure. 20 minutes is nothing.
nessie-nothing like being shown up by children, huh? Glad you had your husband along with you on MOM day.
iris-Nice picture with the V-I liked that.
jaz-good luck on the mammo.
ok thats all this brain can remember for right now.

Hi to all! Wow! I feel good...finally!Had to rest and get head back after eating all that junk;I nev learn.Oh,well...this too shall pass. Everyone have a great day! This is weather that is wonderful...no humidity, rain dropped temps to like seventies, this is like whatever these days in NC.
Neesie...sending you the info/PM here abt the group. The site has pics and I wish I did quilt-just talk and chat w/the little budding artists and their parents. Ha! I was the one saying to the kids:oh,wow,I love those shoes and man, look at your neat stuff on your face-face paintings, etc.
Shirley's quilt was awesome and Gus was so generous to share it. I read where after Cy died(one of her last wishes was the quilt go back to Gus)Cy's husband,Scott, mailed this beautiful quilt back to Gus. What wonderful friends we have and what generous hearts.
I was on this high after leaving GSK/vol activity,so I had a screw loose! I have many--this one was in my prescription sunglasses. So,I go to my fave person,D,as he is awesome. He is having a rough day and I can tell;so I ask(the other eye associate/whatever the correct title of her job) abt his girlfriend who is battling non-small cell lung cancer.Such a wonderful lady;aged 37. Please add her to your prayer list. He has bn with her every step of the way and she has had so many awesome drs and treatments.
Thanks!
Hope(large honey-colored bear) is one of my fave bears...gets her name from the foundation from which the proceeds benefit others...sorry abt the junk! I am building my shelves(some day)as they are on the floor to be assembled...many parts and many screws! Hmmmmm?
Iris-angel/bearlysane and bearyproud of all of my friends who really help me and have been there on some tough days...thanks so much!
Will be back to say hi to all of you wonderful Beach Buddies!

Just a quick pop in before I hit the couch..........gotta finish a few squares for the hugaghans and get them in tomorrows mail.
Iris.....I just sent you a novel disguised as a PM................I had no idea that Gus (Guz) had received the quilt back after Cy passed. What a wonderful thing........and our Cy would make sure that wish was known.
Amy.....Kudo's to you and Tucker! I'm glad to hear the performances were a 'success' and glad to hear that you made it through all of them....I know you wouldn't have missed them for anything................wish the chemo was treating you better........but knowing it is kicking some butt...meaning it is kicking the C word right out of your system.
Sahalie.........oh yea............I remember Marios Beach House! I'm the one that was covering for Susan when she tried to sneak out of it in the middle of the night........................that's all I'm saying!
Hope you all have a good evening..................work tomorrow............work is soooooooo over rated, don't you think?! I don't even dare complain....my client load is wayyyyyyyy down which means my hours are wayyyyyyyyy down!

Someone told me there was a beach around here. I need a vacation!
where's the cabana boy???
0 -
Faith - I don't think there was a dry eye on the beach today after seeing the award winning picture of 425.
JaZ - Hope your early morning mamo went well.
Nessie - Are there pictures of the bra quilt? Sounds interesting.
Iris - I liked your signs. I hope that one day we will have a victory for a cure. Don't let the cabana boys know you can build shelves - they will have you slaving away building shelves in the beach house LOL
Amy - Standing ovation on the beach to your son's accomplishments on his acting.
Susan - Good luck finding cabana boy Sahalie and Nessie were headed to the Margarita shack w/ him.

Hi girls,
Jaz, I get the 6 am hair appts., remember? But a 6:30 am CT scan - boy someone llies to work early! Everything ok with the mammo today?
Neesie, I found this cooking club on Cooking Light's website (figures though most of our food is not light) so I didn't know anyone. I do enjoy it though. I have Comcast too. I remember seeing pics of Shirley's bra quilt. No, Sahalie and I haven't met yet - we will have to one day. Speaking of Shirley, she has relatives that live very close to me so hopefully we will be able to meet as well.
Sahalie, so what would be a good halfway point to meet at?
Amy, I don't know how it would work in an ice cream freezer but it's worth a try. Someone at my cooking club was telling me about an ice cream ball that you put all the ingredients in, surround it with ice and salt, and throw it on the ground for the kids to basically play soccer with. As they kick it around, it churns it up and then after they are all tired from kicking the ice cream ball they get to get the ice cream.
Oh boy, I need a cabana boy to wave the palm fronds after seeing Jason on DWTS....
Iris, I have two teddy bears - one windup one that I got when i was pregnant with Ryan and one Joe got me for Valentine's Day a few years ago - it says a few sayings and is cute.
Susan, do tell, Neesie had to cover for you huh? I need a vacation too - want to go on one together?

Happy early Tuesday,Beach Buddies!
How abt these friends as Cabana Boys...Ben&Jerry??

One more day,the blood test, and then...let's eat! I know that is not the way it is supposed to be...oh,well! A few days won't hurt after working on this cholesterol stuff since Dec,will it?? Nah...Have a great day!

I can't get the pics of this but knew I had seen it in the L.L.Bean catalog.
It had intrigued me... What do you have planned for the week? Glad your temps are not as wild and crazy as they were as that must have been awful when the power was out and hot. I always think of those people in bldgs w/out many shade trees and how hot it must be when the bldgs are retainining all the heat. These trees are over thirty yrs old and so shady around this complex;helps in summer.Guess where I am going after the bld test on Wed??? TJ's finally...yeah! I have read abt it here and can't wait to see that store and the things that they sell. My friend is always raving abt Trader Joe's and had some cookies called was it Jo-Jo's,maybe? She said they were delish...and yummo, like Rachael R says! I will check their specials and see what I like. The crowds have calmed down, finally,as it was a huge store and when it opened last yr...people from all over the state were coming and so crowded,I heard. Now,I think NC has more or is building more stores.
faith...thinking of you and hope that your mtg went well for the new is it a DVD or book? Maybe both...congrats! Your pics are just awesome! That is my word to replace cool these days. I think awesome is where you are in the pink! The look on the face of the survivor and the hope, the little curls on the toddler...such a magnificient pic! You have great insight and such skills! Thanks for sharing it with us. I am up early looking for the B&J's!!! Not really, the fire trucks just went out and that is a loud sound as I live really near a fire station branch. It gets the heart pumping when two or three big trucks go out as so many trees are gone now and the sound is like reveberating in my bedroom. Yrs ago, before the zillion trees were cut, slept through everything...city mouse going to the country or country mouse coming back to the city, more like it! Have a great day!
Sahalie...I bet Mario is looking for all of us for a big bonfire and marshmallow roast! It is so chilly here as the a/c must hv bn running and I needed a blanket! That would be great to meet Margo as you, two, living so near each other and Shirley, not so far away. The trip back to Bora Bora sounds wonderful. The setting in South Pacific with the Bali Hai always made me want to travel there. You have games in mind for today?I look forward to seeing the activities and the pics...so wonderful!Thank you abt the huge bear and sitting in the bear's lap! Love your descripts of the scenery and walk...what a beautiful setting!
Wings...how are you and how did the kids do on Mon? I have always wanted to work in a day care as I did early childhd pre-training for a Head Start program at a pub schl. That was really unusual in the 70's where I went to college. It was neat as we learned first-hand what the children were doing;did not hv public kindergartens back then...amazing how far and fast we have come. Thanks for the kind things you said;however, thank you for the support and the kindness to me. I am amazed and so appreciative of the angels, friends, bears and cherished memories we have here. Glad that DD is so excited abt her summer and what wonderful experience that will be. I only did it one summer and learned so much in such a short time...it rained every day for like abt a week...thought we would go insane...no showers,no bathrms for awhile as the system was in a rural area. It was so interesting...and great lessons for reality which I am big on. What do you have planned for the week? My parents live in a small, small place and no stoplights...a yellow blinking one! I know/knew everyone and vice versa. Sometimes, everyone knew too much abt everyone else's stuff,but...nice to have neighbors who know you, too.
Jaz...how did the mammos go? Lion King...so love that music and no worries...sounds good. Hope that you had a good day even up before the chickens. Is that office open all night or early like the crack-of-dawn? That is really early...almost like the hospital's hrs. Could I get you and Sahalie to volunteer for the dental visit? I want everyone to be asked! This time,I might even take me a Tranxene as I think there in one tooth that is not filled...does that tell you how fond I am of this office and how many visits?
OK...moving on and trying not to think of cavities. Hope your day is good!
Amy...so glad that Tucker had a great time and I know that Sandy is a great director. I cannot imagine how much work goes into the production of a high schl performance as I did elem plays. We worked for wks and wks and the scenery and the lighting and later, had music teachers.Congratulations to all of the group. That is wonderful and so neat that you went to all the performances;I bet there were crowds at every one of the performances.
footprints/Debbie...I am always so glad to see you here and what a wonderful attitude you always have. How long was the race and was it very hot? Do you have special plans for the week? Hope that the swelling is much better after your walk this past wkend.
So,the fire will warm us up on the Beach. Susan,Neesie and all the others of you volunteers lining-up to see my dentist,I send a huge thanks! He thinks that I can relax and says that...where is that person after twenty-five yrs? Have you bn flossing is always the first quest? I have got that answer so down pat now,as I hv bn thinking abt it seriously! No need sharing all the info with him! At least I don't use the floss for other stuff now as it made the best string for children's beads! That is an improvement! Neesie, you were mentioning the t-shirt for little miss and I was saying how fast a yr had gone by...it does not seem that long ago when you were getting her a shirt for the race last yr. I rememb you posted a pic of her and it was so cute! Gee,do I sound like my parents...time is clicking on so fast! Susan, hey to you and hope your week goes well!
Iris...bearlybrained and see you all later for our early morning beach stroll!

Footprints, you are right, we are lucky to have this place to come to.
Iris, are you up early or are you still up from last night? I have to check out the American Pie, couldn't tell what was in it because it flashes so fast. I like their Gold Phish. I'll check out the LL Bean catalog - someone told me their mother got it at Target. Checked out LL Bean - that's it! You will love TJ's. For awhile, between Costco and TJs, I never made it to the grocery store. What's the blood test for? When is your dentist appt? I love my dentist. He's my age.
Where's Jaz with the song of the day?
Everyone have a good day and I'll check in later.

Starting to feel a bit more like a zombie every day. It will be so terrific when these wee ones learn their days from our nights. In the mean time they're growing like crazy -- working so hard to gain control of their little heads. They look like bobble dolls these days.
Our goal for the day is to bathe them and get pics, as today they are offically 4 weeks old!! Will see if I can get Sarah in a picture as she is looking soooooooooo much better these days.
Thanks so much for your feedback on the photo of #425. I've never purposefully taken a picture of someone else, without their knowledge. I felt like one of those anthropologists on a remote island -- like I was capturing a bit of her 'soul' without her permission..... but I was overcome with her spunk in the face of it all and thought my fellow beach-combers would find her inspirational.
I've never thought of myself as a 'photographer' but because of you friends, I find myself looking at my day thinking "what would brighten up our beach" ..... which has the lovely effect of brightening up my day in the process. Yet another gift of this thread. Thank you angel dearest.
I have one last image of the race this weekend to share:
I honestly only thought to take this photo, because I was wanting to share my walk experience with each of you here beachside. I was wanting to give each of you one of these roses for your own walk. I never would have considered taking the picture if it wasn't for our friendships, growing as we keep going. Have a cyber rose... and a hug, from your favorite zombie.

Good morning Beach Friends. Well, as early as I was up yesterday, today I'm running a bit late. Haven't even had coffee yet.
To all those who expressed concern for my mammo, thank you so much. It is greatly appreciated and everything looked stable so I'm good to go for another six months.
Neesie -- kids are so smart these days and grow up so fast. I love the 'creek' story. Guess she told Grandma a thing or two. I think they must have been having a 'who can create the flattest boob' contest yesterday and if my tech wasn't in first place, she was definitely a close second. What a generous thing for Cy to do for Gus. Such an unselfish act of love.
Amy -- I'm glad the play went so well. Did anyone get it on videotape? Is this what Tucker wants to do when he is finished with school. I hope you chemo is going well.
Sahalie and Margo -- I can't believe you live so close to each other and haven't met for lunch yet. Twenty minutes is nothing to drive where I live. You definitely have to meet.
Iris -- it sounds like you had a lovely time. Please stop posting the B & J's, I'm chunky enough thank you. Looks like I goofed and you are the one that mentioned Cy gifting the quilt back to Gus. I love your bears.
Susan -- I'm so happy to see you pop in. I don't know what happened to your cabana boy but the good thing about A's beach is that there are always plenty of cabana boys around to help a lady in need. I hope things are going well for you.
Wings -- thank you for your concern about the mammo. Its just three spots that we are continuing to watch every 6 months. But that's the new normal, right? I loved your description of small town life. I think other than a few modern inconveniences that you are actually much luckier than those living in big towns or cities. Enjoy your tranquility. Most people would trade you for it in a heartbeat.
Footprints -- it sounds like you are developing lymphedema? Well, that's a big pooh. But it can be controlled and managed. Don't let it stop you from doing the things you want to do and that make you happy.
Oops, have to run for a minute but I'll be back to finish this up.
0 -
Awesome news J!! Now exhale.
I'll sit beside you on that dock-in-the-bay..........

I'm glad your mammo was good AH.
Thanks for the rose faith. that is beautiful and much appreciated. I may start taking some beach pictures myself. you have inspired me.
I have to share this. My all time passion is baseball. Yesterday a major league pitcher who had non-hodgkins lymphoma (and was treated successfully) pitched a no-hitter. One of the greatest feats in baseball. Not only is it astounding that he could come back from chemo in 2006 and do that but the best part of all----he didn't even mention the C word in his interviews regarding his challenges, etc. He has SO moved beyond. Cancer is just something from his past. It gives me hope. One day cancer will be a forgotten footnote for all of us. "Stage 2, stage 4, stage 18, oh yeah that was my life a few years ago. I'm beyond that now." That is my wish for all of us.
hugs
susan

Iris, LOL using dental floss for stringing beads. too funny. I think I'll try that on my dentist when I go back.
And Amy, Tucker was in a play?? How cool. And Sandy was the director! That's neat. I hope you are doing better with your owies.
Margo, without a doubt, the thing i miss most about California (besides the beach) is TJ's.
Denise do not waste your time covering for me. You won't have time for anything else.
0 -
Margo I saw the ice cream balls at walmart and thought they looked pretty darn cute. Kids would love them. Back when I was younger (in the dark ages) we used coffee cans and did something like that. Now coffee cans are a thing of the past. We make homemade ice cream all the time in the south.
iris-nice to see a post from you. Good luck on building shelves.
susan-hello there missy. Long time no see. Are you still working?
Faith-I bet you are a walking zombie. Those babies sure are cute though.
Jaz-congrats on the good mammo. An early morning squeeze would sure wake you up.
Foot prints Deb-do you suffer from Lymphadema?
ok gotta run, work is calling.

Faith - The beach nannies are taking over so you and dear Sarah can get some rest today - but first take those pictures so we can see how much our beach babes have grown.....then rest.
I see Nessie and Susan are walking WB toward the dock. CharAngel and her daughter have a soccer ball in hand ready to kick around.
Our Beach DJ - JaZ is playing some fun kid tunes in Sahalie's converted beach day care hut.
Iris brought children's beach books to read to WB. I noticed WB has chocolate all over his face - Iris did you give him chocolate?
Margaret and WB are making ice cream with the rolling ball thingy.
DebC and Amy are rocking the babies in the new beach rocking chairs.
Foots is next in line for a rocking chair and baby.
DebC just handed me a baby - looks like I am on diaper duty.
If I missed anyone sorry......your on diaper duty w/ me
Faith have a nice rest.

Homemade Ice Cream in a BAGGIE
Fill one-third of a large resealable plastic baggie w/ ice. Add 4-6 tablespoons salt and shake to mix.
In a small resealable plastic baggie add your ice cream ingredients.
Seal the small baggie getting rid of as much air as possible and shake it until ingredients are blended.
Place the small baggie inside the large ice baggie, seal the large baggie getting rid of as much air as possible.
Shake baggies for about 5 minutes.
Remove the small baggie and spoon the ice cream into a bowl.
Enjoy!
Here's the recipe I use for my day care children put these ingredients into the small baggie and follow instructions above.
4 ounces milk
1 T. sugar
1/4 t. vanilla
Fun for children and adults - easy.

Oh wow! I'm going to try this. This reminds me of 'snow ice cream' we used to make as kids.

Hello to everyone!
I made it through the dental vis...got font tooth bonded back! Yippee Skippy! Now,I can do the centerfolds, again,as I told my dentist! Thought he was going to choke...we have known ea other for 25 yrs!
Susan, you sweet person! Thank you so much for my lovely blue ribbon card! That was so neat and so appreciate the kindness! I had bn gone so long and the PO was closed when I got home late last week. I really did string beads for the kids using the dental floss as we had to do this TV presentation and my clip was actually used from the Dept of Pub Instruction on how not to floss one's teeth, but string buttons! Kidding abt the message...I did not do much talking just abt 15 secs of fame...and no extra pay on that one! HA! Have a great week,Susan!
Margo, can't wait to see TJ's in person...yeah! I know it is always crowded there and hv bn waiting for the right time as wknds are really busy there. Thanks for the wonderful mail, too! You are so thoughtful and I appreciate the kindnesses. I am glad that was the ice cr as it sounded like it from my catalog back in winter. I was dreading this appt and it had bn 7 mos this time-just could not sleep and got up to write on computer and read. Blood work is just routine as my father and I hv same type heart stuff and high chol issues.Since he has had a heart attack and had stent/pacemaker,I hv to be more pro-active acc to my internist. Thanks for asking.Hope that your afternoon goes well and it is nearly lunchtime there...had the best chicken that my mother made and froze for me to bring back-just microwave it;awesome!
Jaz...congrats on no more mammo for a six month break! Yeah! I love the B&J's and gain weight just seeing it in the supermarket dairy case! Thanks for for the kind words...right back at you as this thread is so reassuring for me. I still think that was so early for the center or is that the normal hourst for doing mammos? My next one is already scheduled and will be done in the office below my onc's and they will fax it to him right then. I hv nev had that before and it will be great to discuss it with the onc that day. My last cancer ctr was so large that the faxed results would be on a diff wing and not discussed w/me. I am looking forward to a smaller setting and better communication. Thanks for the songs and the words...just starts my day off the right way.You do have such a gift in selecting the right music and matching it to the person and events that are taking place.
Sahalie...how are you and hope the weather is much cooler this wk. We maybe hving rain as the sky looks that way. We have severe drought then almost like monsoon flooding rains...never a dull moment in NC weather! I hope that your wk goes well. You are right abt Mario and the beach house being the bomb. That would be like a Fantasy Island dream vacation and that other show that I loved abt Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. I could get into all of that now....bring all the beach buds and have a blast!
Wings...thank you for the neat things you write. You must know that I read to the kids almost every single day. I did have so many bks when I retired that I made bunches of trips to GCW and gave lots to other teachers and kids. You are talking my language...books and chocolates! That is why I do really well in Barnes&Noble as they hv a Starbucks and books in same store. So,when I go,that is the most fun. Hope that you are having a good day and bet you hv fun w/the kids. I just think they are so funny when they are small(well, most of the time they are funny). They think the adults are so great when you can draw little things and do the fun stuff like pushing them on the swings. That I miss sometimes...getting up early and this week with the NC state tests,no,dentist was actually more fun! LOL
neesie...how are you today? I think you are the funniest writer and I mean that sincerely as I read along and think,my twin,my twin or with Susan my triplet,my triplet...yeah,we would need a place to chat, chat, chat. Funny cause my friend's husb came w/her to meet me...well,you know women! So,he gets up at this Whole Foods Mkt(where we were eating)and says not that he is bored but he would like to check on the price of milk or something! HA! I said,yeah,right...bored out of his gourd is more like it! As we were rattling away and having this talkfest! So,what is happening there and bet that was funny w/Little Miss and her creeks. She is impressive as I taught folks(4th gr)who had no clue what NC creeks were and that ran into sounds, rivers and made their way into the Atlantic Ocean...near us. She is going to be a trip in Kindergarten or is she already there? They are too funny asking me if I know how to tie shoes as they do but just wanted to see if mine looked as good as their bows...yeah,right...test to see if I can get back off the ground w/these creaky knees more like it!
faith...what neat flowers and beautiful colors! You were so kind to share the feelings and the emotions with us. Hope that the zombiness if that is a word,is dissipating. I am sure as much as you traveled and as many events as you have attended(past month)you must feel like you are in a time machine,at times. Congrats, again,on the walk and I know the first few yrs were really emotional times for me,still is,but it seemed I was less emotional,Sat,after almost three yrs. So many wonderful women and their families that are so inspiring!
Amy...hi to you! Thanks for the funny e-mails as I get the biggest smiles and thanks for caring! The shelves would be easy for a normal person who could "read"directions! That sure leaves me out as you know that nothing abt me is ever normal. I rememb when you built your barns, did the shower repair with like a few parts and just whipped that out in nothing flat. I was standing in awe...me,finally got a button sewed on yesterday after forever. These are those Cubicals and not that hard...just got to turn them in right direction and be sure those silly, little pegs are right. Last time,I took my hammer and "helped" them! LOL A few did not make the hammering...Hi to Tuck and Sandy!
I am so rambling and hv got to be awake at 5PM...getting hair cut and one color, again! Woo hoo! I no longer will look like Rainbow Brite! Yee-haw!!!
Take care all of you wonderful Beach Buddies! You are the best and thanks for always supporting me all of you cherished and dear angels, friends and bear buddies.
Iris-angel/bearystraight front tooth w/glue that looks like enamel(alright!)

Faith aka zombie, what lovely roses. Hope you are all able to get some sleep soon.
Jaz, I think Sahalie lives an hour and 20 minutes from me - I don't even know what town she lives in yet.....I'm working on figuring out how we can get together.
Susan, I saw that story on the pitcher yesterday. That was an awesome story. No TJs where you are?
The one time in my life I've had homemade ice cream (remember, my dad was a big tall Texan) was when we visited my grandparents in Fort Worth, otherwise it's Dreyer's, Breyer's, etc. Oh, I guess my margarita ice cream would constitute home made.
Wings, WB loved that ice cream ball. He went down for a nice long nap after playing with it. Oh, I like your recipe for homemade ice cream.
Iris, glad the dentist went ok. Remember, my mother broke her two front teeth a while back? Implants are in and she is good as new. It's not funny but it is, she broke it chewing ice. Because of her dialysis she's not supposed to drink a lot of water so she figures if she chews ice she'll get her liquid in that way.
Lunch time over, back to work......back later.
Thank goodness I did this in Notepad - the system was down for maintenance - you think I would have gotten an error message when I logged on, not when I copied into a message!
