Good morning Beach Friends.  Have to get moving since I've decided the most productive time for me at the gym is in the mornings.  No waiting for the treadmill.  I'll be back later to chat.

    Surprise song of the day!

I just made a sign for the MI Komen walk coming up on May 31.

I will post here at the end.

Sahalie - I saw Nessie & Jaz trying to cook something up w/ those palm fronds - LOL

The rest of us are enjoying the beach boys down at Mario's. Iris is singing the Garden Party song w/ the boys. teehee

Here's my sign I made for the Komen Walk.

Likin the sign, Wings!  So nice of you to do that for us!!  Sure hope the weather warms up before then!!

Loved your list of books that we could all write!  What am I cooking tonight????  Left overs!

Hoping all of you are having a great day full of sunshine and sand and Cabana Boys!!  I'd love a Pina Colada.......but I'm a cheap date...........about 1/2 of one and I'm done!!

Dang........I know if I go back a page to 'refresh' my memory, I'll lose this post!!!!!!!!  DH has his box made for the 'square' watermelon and pumpkin!!We live such an exciting life around here!

I've been home today.................what have I accomplished?????  Squat!  I swear, I get more done when I'm running then when I am home all day!  I have started sorting through the accumalation that gathers in the computer desk drawers.................................now it's all accumalating on the computer room floor!!!!!!!!!!

DD took both kidlets to the Doctor today for checkups........Gd's 4 year checkup and GS's 4 month checkup................a grand total of 8 shots, 1 finger prick and 1 oral vaccine!  Sure don't want to be in that house tonight!!!!  But all is well with both..........my GD is quite tall for her age...42 pounds and 42 1/2 inches tall...........she's in the 90th percentile for her age....(I'm clueless......they didn't use 'percentiles' when my kids were little!)....the wee one weighs 15.6 pounds and is 25 1/2 inches tall!

Off to muss up my hair and spray water on my face so it looks like I've been working up a sweat all day before DH comes home..................wouldn't want him to think I just sat around at the Beach all day!!!!

Nessie - I hope weather warms up for walk too...as long as it doesn't rain. Ya know it's to bad the Tigers aren't playing and the guys could hang out at a ballgame during the walk. My DH would love that. Great news on your grand kidlets check ups. Boy the immunizations sure are becoming a controversy. What's a parent to do...children need immunizations to enter school or day care and then there's a possibility of the autism debate - scary issue.

Margaret - I made your quiche recipe again, I used sausage, green peppers and onions...delicious.

Susan - Love the fan pix I may need one ....more for my hotflashes then weather related LOL. We have 34 members on the MI Wings of Hope Team - with 8 or 9 survivors. I agree it is very inspiring.

Faith - Enjoy your concert presentation. I would gladly do baby duty so you could nap.

Iris - How's your week going? My DD got the Summer Day Care Camp job! Let's go celebrate at StarbucksSmile

Hugs to all at the beach.

    Good HOT morning!

It was 90 freaking degrees here at 9:30 this morning.

I am so thankful for my AC.

    *

    *

This could be a clue to our next adventure girls.

    *

Faith, I could, I actually could smell those precious babies heads while you were posting.

Oh the fuzziness warm of it all.

I just have to mention again what a lovely family you have.

Thank you very much for the wonderful pictures we get to see.

How is Wonder Boy doing these days?

He gets extra hugs from all of us you know.

The necklace with the blue star is beeutiful.

    *

Wings, Congrats to your DD getting the summer camp job.

Those are fun.  Hard work but fun.

Your sign you made is FANTASTIC!

    Great job!

Will it be hot where you are during the Walk?

I wish you cool breezes to keep the energy levels up.

    *

Jasmine.  Thank you for the most wonderful songs always.

    *

    Susan, The Fans - Perfect!

Can we all have one of those?

They would sell like ice cream cones around here this week.

    *

Neesie, You are more than welcome to some our hot weather

    anytime.

We are hitting the triple digits today.

So guess who else won't be doing too much.

Watering is the #1 priority this week.

I refuse to let my lawns and plants fry.

Water rationing or no water rationing.

Your square pumpkins should take off wild with this weather.

    *

Margaret,  I hope you have AC at work.

Are you having the bursts of wind like we are?

It's alert time for mowing etc.

I hope people have the sense not to mow in this stuff especially during the afternoon peak hours.

I hope your sister is feeling much better.

    *

Footprints,  Special Angel. Iris, Deb C.

Grab one of Susan's fans and keep comfy today.

Here is your afternoon delight just because~

    *

Here is a gentle wish for each of us in our trying times.

    *

Sink into your beach chair, dig your toes in the sand and relax.

Watch the waves below your feet and realize that you found

    a gentle day.

Let go of tension and relax each part of your body.

The gentle sound of the ocean will transport you to a place of peaceful awareness.

The sound of the ocean will have a soothing effect on mind, body and spirit.

    Breathe.

    *

    *

    XOXO

    Trying to stay cool.

Susan, it is so hot here that I could use those beach gadgets.

Wings, yum, sausage, green pepper and onions sound great.  Do you make it with a crust or crustless?  Congrats to DD on her summer day care camp job.

Sahalie, it was 70 this morning at 5:30.  Yesterday was hot, lost power for an hour or so last night.  Today was hotter but so far power.  I have AC at work.  More of the same tomorrow.  My house is pretty well insulated so it's actually cool but I have the ceiling fans going.

Neesie, I got busy at work or would have checked in.  Won't get a chance to check in again until tomorrow morning  We'll send some hot weather your way - supposed to be hot until Tuesday I think.

Hi everyone! What abt this getaway from it all...looks like it would be near the water...for real for toe dipping and cooling off from hot temps!

Hope everyone has had a good Thur and ready for Fri and a weekend!!!

Jaz...loved JT and Carly!!! Esp loved it sinceJT is from Chapel Hill,NC and has a boulevard named after him. A former friend taught one of his brothers way back in the 50s-there in Chapel Hill. I loved the two voices;great duet! Found a copy of The Irish Rovers in a stack of 33 1/3 LPs today...now,they seem so old w/all the tech so advanced! It is amazing! It was funny as I was looking at the titles,I kept saying that one is on my iPod and that one is on there, too. I had to stop and think...no wonder, they were your fave songs and that is why they're there. Told Wing that I loved the Ricky Nelson song,too...does not seem possible that so many of the ones we loved are no longer around. Great memories, thanks! What have you planned for the wkend?

neesie...hi and hope that your weather warms up some. I know that you usu go to visit your mom on Friday and hope it goes well. I will be taking my father to get his eyeglasses(lens were cut...how???) tomorrow as that is on the agenda. Yippee Skippy as I can say May appts were completed...at least for this week. Your recipe sounds great and I had these cool, square watermelons to post and could not! I saw where there were kits to order! Is your DH building his own square box...he is a smart engineer! Is this to take up less room in the fridge or less room growing? Loved reading abt grands and their sizes...amazing how we never were measured unless it was shoes and boy,did I hate those silver and black things as I had such a huge foot as a child...still do! LOL Yep,you,Susan and I are triplets and I am in good company! You two are more co-ordinated,though! I tripped on the bottom step, again, today as the soles slid on two steps(there are only three steps total!) So,graceful-not,that is so me! LOL

Margaret...your weather sounds really hot and no a/c sounds hotter. Hope that was just a fluke thing. Is that typical of CA to be this hot this early in May? Those were awesome designs on your pic and reminded me of the beautiful tie-dyed garments that are coming back now. Seems like it was just yesterday(guess longer...the 70s)when we saw those and bell-bottom jeans. The colors are so pretty and striking and reminds me of a kaleidoscope or one of those Spiro-graph designs from yrs back...neat!What a neat idea abt flowers and I will check on that this weekend as all the irises died. They were really nice on Sun...so,good that they bloomed for Mother's Day and made nice bouquets. What abt your irises and tulips...what color of tulips are your favorites? I know they looked lovely and made such nice gifts for you, along with the other neat flowers.

Wing...loved your sign! I sent you a PM here and hope that your weekend is a good one. I would love to have a Starbucks and will celebrate DD's job when I go back home!Yeah for her!!! That was the most beautiful shell and hermit crab. We have sandfiddler crabs here on our NC beaches;nothing as pretty as your shell, though. I love the colors and it looks like a cowrie,I think that is what it is called...really pretty pic! I would be the one singing with Ricky Nelson as I was singing that Garden Party and looked over at the right at Jaz's YouTube selection. Man,that was neat...Hello,Mary Lou and Traveling Man...good thing no one was around! LOL Boy,Ricky sure had some nice hair back then, and what a change later...

Sahalie...all the great activities were fun and no sharks sighted at all! I don't like to think of any teeth anywhere near our beach...especially those sharp ones! Yuck what a bite...Loved reading all the neat beach adventures that are planned and the lovely pics! The dog is so cool...love that hat! I was reading back abt the grilled cheese sandwich, and so love your writing!I just feel like I am right there with you as you do all those neat things and hard work, too. Cleaning the umbrella sounded like a beach task we did when we had a smaller one. I know it looked great when completed;99 degrees-yuck! Like I asked Margo,is that normal for this early in May,there? Sounds so hot...take care and thanks, again, for all the beach adventures!

Susan...hi to you and what lovely fans. I will choose the blue one if that is OK to match the lovely blue water. Hope that you are having a good week and that you have a great weekend, too. What is happening the 31st a race in St Louis,I think you said? I remember the one last yr and the lovely pics that were posted. Do you hear from Christine K still? I have missed her and wondered if her family's restaurant was affected by the flooding not long ago? Tell her hello for me if you talk to her, please. She lived in Hilton Head,SC,at one time and I remember reading/talking abt that with her.Best to Buffy the Beautiful Beach Dog!

faith...beautiful grands(a friend calls her little grandchildren that...thank you,Shirley). You are quite handy to have that many neat bundles with a finger to type. You are so clever and love the specs! Those are neat and look great with your awesome outfits...love colors and patterns as do children. So,the books and dvd are so creative! Your younger dd is very beautiful as well as the entire family and her boyfriend.I am interested in the oboe superglued...that is amazing. My mother's chin looks really good and not that bad of a scar from her superglued skin break. It sure beats the pain of a needle and stitches. Will the oboe have to be repaired or will the glue be sufficient for her? She really does look so much like you, faith!

footprints/Debbie...hope that the walk in Washington will go well for you. That is so awesome that you are involved and will enjoy it,I am sure. I felt so spirited just walking with the thousands of people and folks cheering from the sidewalks as the pink and white banners and balloons went by. It was just the neatest feeling and gave me such a great feeling! I am wishing you all the best and will be thinking of you,Debbie!

Iris/Spartan '72 tiredbear tonight/bearyhappy to be a beach buddy! Take care, everyone and stay safe...enjoy the weekend and watch out for crazy weather these days! I have written this is segments and bearywordy which is typical for me! Thank you, beach buddies, for your patience and your support as this thread really means so much to me! To all friends---bears,angels,beach...best to you and good night!

This is another fave flower from NC coastal areas...gardenias. I love the fragrant smell and soon,in June,...more fragrant flowers appear here and many other places.

Love to all the beachie bunnies. I'm typing with all fingers!! Whoohoo.

Iris, I can't thank you enough for your thoughtful post just now. You keep me 'organized' and both images have refreshed my soul & I feel like I can begin again. Thank you. We couldn't have a better "room mother." Please find one of your special angel images for our Denise for today.... your collection is so up-lifting.

Beach buddies. Today we need to send our sunshine and energy to nEEsie for the anniversary of her dear son's passing in the tragic accident that claimed him. Please join me in sending her encouragement and prayers. We're with you dear Denise. We stand beside you -- across the miles and whisper our support for such a senseless and sorrow filled moment, that would forever change you.

Losing a child has to be the most difficult of life's sorrows. You have been challenged and yet emerged to join us here -- splashing and making us laugh. A true testament to your character and resolve. You're one-in-a-million. A true treasure. Thank you Denise for trudging forward when you'd rather curl up in a dark corner. You're forever bringing us giggles and insight.... and for that we are better.

Jasmine, can you find just the right song? I'd nominate that one by Celine that brought me such solace for a 'revisit' if you don't have another perfect choice. Your gift of insight & your talent for selecting just the right piece are a contribution like none other.

Sahalie, what can we do at the beach today that would be appropriate? Somber yet filled with hope? Congratulatory for Denise to realize that life has indeed continued and that despite her loss -- we are grateful to have her contribution here beachside. I know you'll have just the perfect idea. Something to nourish our hearts and minds.

Margaret, maybe you could bring some of your good eats? You always nurture us with your contributions. You've been thru some rough waters lately yourself and have managed to bless others in the process. An example for us all.

Winger, you can shine your beacon from the light house and that will give Denise direction thru this storm. Shine those talents of yours. You'll be the one who can shower nEEsie with actual hugs in person, when you get back together again at the end of the month. Please embroider one of those hugs with each of our names.

Susan, I know that just having your bouncie presence will be a present for Denise. To be surrounded by friends is just the ticket.

Debbie, you walk with such dignity and purpose. Your walking beside our hurting friend will help shore her up.

Amy & DebC: your example(s) of courage in the face of challenges is a demonstration to each of us, that we can rise up to the unthinkable. I know that Denise is in awe of your tenacity. Continue to show us what grace & mercy look like in person. May you each have miracles showered on you from Above.

Angel: I know that you envisioned great things when you designed this place. A place of laughter and friendship. A place of sparkling crystal water and the depth of the ocean. Thank you for assembling such a lovely group. You are always shining here among us. Just like fine wine, we're getting better with time!

I am continually listening to a new recording by Pema Chodrin. She is a Buddhist monk and speaks on healing. The four words from her practice that have meant so much to me are: "Other people feel this." She suggests repeating that thought over and over when confronted with feelings that might bring on despair otherwise.

These four words have brought me so much comfort in the months since I've 'learned' them. "Other people feel this." I am not alone. I am indeed connected to others. Whether it's grief, sorrow, concern or delight...... "other people feel this." I am not the first person to be overwhelmed. I'm not the first to feel adrift. I'm not the first to feel rejection and loss. I am not the only person wondering where to apply my efforts. I am not the only person who has been wronged. I am not the only person whose plans have been shelved. I am not the only person wishing on a star. We are all connected.

Denise, your loss is in capital letters: LOSS. It is one that I have never experienced.... so I would never pretend to understand what you're feeling and going thru, but know that I am speaking for each and every one of us and we want you to know that we are here for you in whatever humble way we can offer.

Here at Angel's beach we hold each other up thru the thick and the thin. The ups and the downs. The celebratory highlights -- (held together with super glue, if necesssary) and life's hardships, setbacks, storms, side effects, concerns, anxieties and realities. I'm so glad that Angel left us the map for such a unique place.

    Love to all.............

I am so sorry for your loss.

I want you to know I too that my precious husband

passed two years now May 5. 2006.

    He was too young.

May is a different month to be sure.

My father also passed on May 16 a few years ago.

We celebrated the amazing life of my husband

and father of my children on May 5.

My heart knows this feeling of loss and emptiness

but the loss of a child is so mind altering I cannot grasp

Wow Sahalie and Faith-you two have beautiful words.

Here I am-had chemo today and all is good.  No problems at all except every time I go I know I am closer and closer to the port thing.  My veins just cant take it.  I am off next Friday and then I have scans on the 29th.  Going to go ahead and cross my fingers that things are good.  Never hurts to start early.

Tonight is dress rehearsal for The Phantom of the Opera for my son.  He is very excited.  We have the mask, the cape and the black suit home from the cleaners but surely we are forgetting something.  Life just wouldnt be right if we didnt.  Shows are tomorrow at 11 and 7 and Sunday at 2:00.  I sure hope they do well and have a good turnout.  How upsetting it would be to practice so hard and not have alot of people show up!  He, of course, wants me there at all 3 shows so by the time Sunday gets here I will know all the lines.  Bad thing is my chemo brain wont hold on to them very long no doubt.

susan-I received the card you sent me.  How very thoughtful you are.  I have missed you.

Margo-I also received a card from you.  Thank you very much.  You always do so well at sending cards.  I buy them and thats about as far as they get.

Lots of fun in the sun to all you beach lovers out there.

Dear Friends...........I am totally blown away by the love, kindness and support given to me by all of you today.  Each and everyone of you are awesome, special people and mean so much to me.  The words given to me, the special song (which I loved), the pictures, prayers and thoughts.......after drying my tears (tears of sorrow and happiness) .... I realized that for once I was at a loss for words.................Hard to imagine, I know!

"Other People Feel This".................what a beautiful quote..........and one I am going to hold onto.

Did I ever think something good would come out of Breast Cancer????  Not in a million years....................Something great did come out of this hideous disease...........and that something is YOU...........I can not believe the friendships I have gained over the past few years.  The Support given to so many.  The Love and Hugs given so freely.

My DH took today off of work.........he usually doesn't do that..........but told me he wanted to today.  We went into MOM's together and he washed her windows and did a couple things.  Then we went to the flower shop because I always take my Son Purple Carnations.............I did not realize until 'the day' that purple was his favorite color.......(yup, he knows his Mom is a ditz, too!)  We (DH and I) had already planted Hosta's in pots for all 4 graves.......so we edged around all of them and put their plants on for the summer.

Thanks for all the PM's I received, too.  Very meaningful and special.  Sahalie, I can't believe you've got a "16th" also..........I'm telling you...it's a spooky date for me........................................I'm sorry to hear that your DH passed away so young....blessings to you, Dear.

I'll be back, but wanted to let you all know how much your friendship means to me.

    Love and Hugs,

    Neesie, nEEsie, Denise and Grace

Hello everyone - can you say HOT?

Faith, what cute pictures.  It's so hot here that I think the margarita ice cream would be a good treat to bring, it has just a teensie bit of tequila and tastes just like a margarita.  What a nice post that was, equal to Iris' - and she has such lovely posts.

Iris, I like that getaway.  No, that weather is not typical so early in the year.  My irises and tulips are dead and my poor little roses have just drooped in this heat.  Joe will be golfing all day tomorrow so I can go shop, will probably pick up some more.  I don't have a favorite color tulip - I like them all.  Gardenias, like those too.  I love hydrangeas but can't grow them, I think my front yard has too much sun for them.

Neesie, thinking of you and sending you big hugs.  There is not much to add to what everyone has said but I wish I was there to give you a hug in person.

    Jaz, what a beautiful song.

Sahalie, I didn't realize May is a sad month for you too.  To lose a parent is bad enough but to lose a parent and a spouse in the same month is tough.

Amy, how exciting for Tucker.  If we were closer, I'd go see him in Phantom of the Opera.  Glad you got my card - I buy them and usually forget to send them, and I used to be so good at sending them.  I had a port during chemo and thought it was great.  I had no choice because I had lymph nodes removed from both arms so if they take blood they take it from my feet and the onc said they would not give me chemo in my feet so a port it was.

Debbie/Footprints, you go girl, walking in the Relay.

Back later and if not, I'll catch up tomorrow.  Sleep tight.

Unfortunately,I am bearywordy;albeit bearycaring....always drove teachers/bosses nuts who were one-liners and not prone to details.LOL Those eyes are incredible on "Wonder Boy!"

neesie and Sahalie...many hugs and much love to you both! There are so many friends gathered round and hope you feel us all. I know there are some challenging days and just am glad we,all, are here and sharing the beach times!

Best of Saturdays to all of you!

Iris-angel/bearlysane and bearyproud of all angels, bears and friends I have had the great fortune to meet along the beach paths and trails....

Thanks for splashing sea water on me Jaz...............now I can skip my morning shower!!

Better not.....have a funeral for a long standing client to attend today. That I would like to skip, but would not feel right with myself if I did.

Amy....How exciting for Tucker!  I did not know he was a 'star'..!!  If I was near 'Bama' I'd love to see him perform!  Hoping for good results on your scan......sorry you have to have the port, but it does sound like it will be easier on you.  Hugs being sent!

I will be back to talk with all in a bit............Little Miss is spending the night, but won't be here until after 6p cuz she has to go to a Birthday Party.  You know, it's crazy the parties that parents give nowadays....my DD included!  Whatever happened to Cake and Ice Cream and Pin the Tail on the Donkey?!?!

Hugs to all and have a good day!

    Iris * Thank YOU.

I too love that song.  The words.

I'm dancing Iris, I'm dancing.  Most days anyway.

Thank you from my heart for post that.

My brother was over yesterday and we were reflecting on our dad.

    It was a good time.

Those bungalow's you shared are the over water bungalow's with actual window in the floor of each so the occupants can watch the fish and see the coral gardens just below each.

There are beach and garden bungalow's and I am happy to say those are the only type accommodations available in French Polynesia other than at Papeete, the big town on the island of Tahiti.

No high rise anything on the outer islands.

It's why my family loves it so much.

Plus the Polynesian people are the kindest folks ever.

In their tranquil life style, they forever smile.

It's the constant french influence that has ruffled the hierarchies feathers but they are dealing with it by voting.

    Back to tranquil.

    Whew was it hot yesterday.

Birds are singing outside right now, the sun is glowing with it's

    warm rays getting warmer.

    Waves are waving.

I've already watered the front lawn, now for the back.

Neesie, Have a great time tonight.

Jasmine, reading hysterical things and thinking of you all. Wink

And thanks to you too.  I needed that salt water splash.

Footprints, You should feel so very proud for the walk you are doing.

We will be the soft silent steps that are right there with you.

I will be thinking of you today as you accomplish each mile.

    Kudo's with XOXO.

Faith,  The photo's adorable as usual.

I want to hear the recording by Pema Chodrin so will search for her.

I know your weekend will be filled with laughs and giggles of the child kind.

Susan, rise and shine and wishes for a fun happening weekend.

Wings, light of the house.  Again, your sign is awesome.

Margaret,  Some heat wave isn't it.

It's only supposed to be 90 today so we shall see.

My relatives up north of here are blistering after nonstop rain.

Amy* I wish so very much I could be at your son's play.

How proud you must be of him.  What a grand play it is too.

The music still sends me chills.

I was so happy to see your post.  You are so strong.

Are you able to get a port to give some relief to your veins?

I had a port and while I didn't care for it much, it was a saving grace.

I wish we could all be there with you while you are getting your treatments.

We would sprinkle some white sand around your chair.

Bring in a kaleidescope of colors umbrella.

Throw some beach balls around and even have Mario our resident beach boy bring his ukulele to play you some melodic songs.

We would of course be wearing our flip flops and bring you a new pair.

How about a toe nail painting party!

Amy* Have a grand time watching your boy in that amazing play.

Angel, ditto on what Faith wrote about your beach.

You are always here with us * Always.

Well, beach loverlies, time to start the watering again before the sun decides to up the temps.

Wishing cool breezes to all who are walking today.
