The reality is that some people - BC sisters or not - are just downright nasty. Some of the crap Chemosabi has had to contend with just beause a few women here have nothing better to do than make other people's lives as miserable as their own is absolutely ridiculous. But what's even more ridiculous is that the moderators allow the mess to go on. The irony of someone getting kicked off of a support board is too much for words...

Like Luann, I did hear from Nicki via PM and she does read the thread on a regular, so I'm waving to you, my friend. And to all the petty little folks who have nothing better to do than go boo-hooing to the moderators, I hope you have an especially Happy Holiday.

    **********************************************

I'm so far behind (and still have a page of posts to go) but let me say a few things:

Maeve: That is wrong, wrong, wrong. I was terrified of that happening when I accepted an international award and needed medical clearance. But apparently the State Department is saner than I expected it to be.

Luann, Pinky, and everyone else: Anything that has to do with police and/or alcohol strikes a chord with me and that is all I'll say on the subject. Just know that you are in my thoughts.

Luann, I am glad those babies have you in their life. Though I can feel your worry and concern from way over here. Imagine us standing next to you in a reassuring huddle of support. (I'm the one who is holding two mugs of tea.)

Saint: Yer hubby's colleagues are awfully brave to risk pi**ing off the woman who may be preparing some of the party food!

    xoxoxo to all of you.

    ******

PS The party was FABULOUS.  I appreciated your cyber cocktails, and toasted all of youse with several of the non-cyber variety.  I'm having another bash next year, and arguably every December after that for the rest of what will hopefully be a very long life.  You are all invited.(In fact, this bar would be a great place to bring folks together for a bco party.)

The good time was marred only by the fact that a few hours before the party, I was reviewing my CT scan report, trying to understand better the two abnormal findings, i.e., "A sclerotic focus in the medial wall of the acetabulum of the right hip appears to be a bone island in this patient without known primary malignancy. There appears to be a small focus of fibrous dysplasia in the left iliac bone. No other osseous abnormalities are seen." I'd chalked these findings up to arthritis before. But then a few words jumped out at me:

"Without known primary malignancy"? What the -- ???

So I called the radiology practice and said, "Excuse me, but I just finished treatment for breast cancer" and the CT report doesn't mention that as part of my history.  Upshot is thatnow  I'm supposed to make more calls and have scans compared, etc. This was on wednesday. I haven't done jack about it yet.  I just can't. I'm not in the mood.

Ok...can we add anymore to the crapola pile here?  Now I have shingles on my right shoulder.  Apparently they go with the herpes sores on my tongue.  Does the fun never stop?

Hm....January 3rd!  Sounds like an awfullllllllllllllllllllly long time to go without :(  I'm sad.

{{Jane}} for cripes sakes lady!  That sounds horrendous to deal with!  Lady, I'm hoping it responds to meds and soon!  Did you catch it within the 1st days so the meds will work at least?  :( BIG THAT SUX!

ROCK!  My goodness lady.  Get on that phone and roll some heads into getting a correction! Geeprs, this is nutty how some get wacky reports that don't even coincide with this dx! :(  SUX big time too!

There's not much they can do.  Just deal with the pain (which is minimal compared to the combined Taxol/Neulasta pain), don't itch or pick at them and let them run their course.  They are caused by a virus, so there's not really any meds they can give.  However, if I pick at them, they could get infected and then I would need an antibiotic, so I suppose I should put some mittens on and leave them alone.

Oh sorry. I thought if they caught them in the first stages there was a med that lessened the severity of them.... :( Sorry   And so danged sorry you are dealing with them.  That is one reason I didn't want my dd coming up with her little guy last winter while I was in chemo.  So many things we can catch from kids doing immunizations and such, I just didnt' want to test it! :(

Hang in there lady.  Does baking soda bathes help?  I thought they did for chicken pox, then again, it's been sooooooooooooo long since I had a kid with that, I might be wrong too. I seem to remember they helped to dry them up?

I know oatmeal baths worked with the chicken pox.  These are up on my right shoulder, so I'd have to be pretty submerged.  I might try calamine or caladryl lotion.  Benadryl might help, too, maybe.

Yeah, the caladryl and lotions were another thought.  I bet an oatmeal paste would work, you think?  Draw out the oozing maybe?

Benedryl helps make you sleep better, but might want to wear gloves to bed, so you don't itch in your sleep :(

jane, there is something the doc can give you to ease the severity but it has to be started when they first show up.  my aunt had a couple of years ago and the doc told her if she had come sooner there is a med that can be used.  it's worth a call.  feel better, maria

The oatmeal paste reminds me of an old home remedy my father used.  He called it a bread and milk poltice.  He would soad a piece of bread in milk and bandage it to the skin.  Supposedly the milk would draw the infection or whatever out.  God bless my father, but I think I'll pass on that remedy and go for the lotions.  What about a baking soda paste?  We always use them on bee stings.

I keep trying to read and everyone is just having such rough times.  Shingles  Oh my goodness, I am so sorry to hear that.  I know people that have had those and know what I've been told about how uncomfortable they are.  The oatmeal bread thing actually sounds like a good idea.

I miss Nicki too, but I get a little nervous how much you can say or not say, because when you get your hand slaps from the mods you're not supposed to tell anyone what you were told and why......I thought we were adults on these boards but maybe not????  I'm not sure who is out to get her but just know we all love you here and to heck with the other problems.  Hopefully the other individuals involved will get a life and not cause issues on a SUPPORT board!

Thank you all for your support and kind words.  Unfortunately I am afraid to post much about any of this situation.  I think it would be best in my sons interest if there isn't much that could be misunderstood about my words or taken out of context at a later date.  I do appreciate you all and hopefully soon I will be on here with great news about everything!  She did tell me that I will be allowed to see the children so we shall see.  I am going to send her an email to try and get them one day this week.  I already miss them so much!  Having been with them almost everyday since they were born makes this really hard for me.  Oh well, I hope everyone has a suckage free day tomorrow!

    WhaSux-----

Jane--any illness caused by viruses MIGHT be lessened by taking acyclovere----I have been on it prophylatically for for over a year to ward off mouth sores....since I have been on it I have only had shingles once--that is a record for me since mine are recurring with all stress & Chicken Pox season!

Allergic to chocolate...hmmm-means there are other comfort foods!!!!!!

Regarding "banning".........just goes to prove that the virtual world is just like the real world--full of immature women who never get past high school.....I have seen them here all along. They get banned & get others banned all the time.....guess we can't even expect cancer to bring ppl to their senses!!

LuAnn---hope things settle down for all of you--especially that poor dog! HUGS

To everyone who needs it---THAT SUX---be well & stay strong

I didn't want to post this to the whole board but figured you all here in this thread would be sufficient.  I got a $3.00 off gift card in the mail for toys r us and I don't shop there.  I know it isn't much but could save the s/h charge if you shop online.  If anyone wants it please PM me to let me know you are more than welcome to it.

Good Monday morning to all.   My husband had shingles and there was a Rx cream I put on him every 4 hours that really dried them up.  Also, tylenol for the pain.  He was in stage 4 of lung cancer at the time.   Also, leaving the area exposed to the air as much as possible helped.  His was from his belly button all around to the middle of his back.   They say it travels along nerve paths, and the main reason for the pain and residual pain after.   My son also had them on his face, under his eye (not at the same time).  He also had a cream to put on.   My son was one of the lucky ones to have had chicken pox twice.  The first time was mild, but definitely pox.  The second time he had craters everywhere, including in his ears, between his toes and between his legs.  The doctor said that boys can get them twice, more often than girls.

Enough of the medical lesson for today...  So sorry for all the suckiness going on.  I need to get out and do some gift shopping, but sit here in my robe.  I may not feel much like shopping and surely cannot do much lifting and lugging after re excision on Wednesday, so I guess I had better get my tush in gear.   Also, the larder is pretty bare and groceries need to be gotten.

I made plastic canvas ornaments for my bingo pals and gave to them Saturday night since I probably won't be there next week after re excision on Wednesday.   They loved them and the home made factor was a hit.

Thanks for all the news, support and helpful suggestions.   I wish each and every one a Very Happy Christmas.    HUGS,  Nancy

Ugh. Shingles. Zovirax used to be the anti-viral to use. Seems to me FIL was also put on an anti-depressant when he had them. Benadryl to stop the itch and whatever lotion the docs allow.

Woke up this morning to snow on the ground. Not much, but in the PNW, that is meaningless...too  many hills.   Temps are supposed to be sub-freezing for the next 10 days or so. Went to the grocery and got a few things so I can do some baking. A co-worker turns 50 and I'm supposed to be bringing a carrot cake on Tuesday.

The house is a stinking mess, I didn't get enough sleep, and I found out that the husband has to be on his business trip til the 23rd. It was supposed to be the 19th. Just in a pissy mood.

I have got to get weaned off the Zoloft & start in on Effexor. This low med level doesn't help.

I hope everyone else does better. Pam

TOO MUCH SUCKINESS!!!! LuAnn, you just let us know if you need a horde of nearly bald, asymmetrical women to give that DIL a lesson she will remember will for a very long time!

Pam, I thought I had to do the off Zoloft/on Effexor thing too--but my onc said Zoloft interferes with Tamoxifen barely more than Effexor, and I am doing SO WELL on the Zoloft she suggests we leave it alone.  I only take one at night, take my Tamoxifen after breakfast.  I also asked her if I could keep the Ativan for anxiety until I retire in April and she said yes.  My job is just stressful and I can't deal with it as well as I used to.  So, when things get crazy at work, I take 1/2 an Ativan!

Jammies until lunch time.  I took Thursday and Friday as mental health days, and didn't even get dressed on Thursday.  I did a small amount of housework in my jammies, though.  Then Friday I took the dogs to the dog park in my warm slippers! (I was otherwise dressed).

SOI___dh and I went on a date tonight---Movie Tavern, saw "Four Christmases" it was pretty funny, and we shared a pizza.  It was great!

IOS--back to work tomorrow, but only for a four day week--I'm off Friday, going to Austin, my oldest son is getting married Saturday (that's NOT an IOS!!)

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

    Sue

Ok ladies thought I would bring some laughter to you all.  I was on the phone with Diane (Badboob) as I started the daunting task of starting to clean out DIL's room....  Now trust me I am no prude in the bedroom or I didn't used to be when I had someone to do things with but I about died tonight and Diane and I were getting great laughs.  First one came as I was grabbing clothes out of a laundry basket and folding them into a box.  All of a sudden I hit a rubbery substance.  I jumped and yelled YUK as I realized what I touched.  a giant pink rubbery motorized toy with more buttons than I could count on it.  that thing must have been able to please the whole nation!  LOL  Anyway, it is in my trashcan and trash night is tomorrow for anyone that is interested in recovering it!!!!  LOL  LOL  The next item was even more interesting, as I was cleaning out her underwear drawer I came across something odd.  I saw a rubber ball, like a super ball you get out of the gumball machines.  But the darn thing was attached to some velour material.  I am sure some of you have figured out what this is but for those that haven't it was a ball gag.  Now Diane and I were gaging with laughter!!!!  WTH????  I spoke with a close friend that would speak with my son about topics like that and he said he wasn't into that kind of kink.  So now I don't know if that if from their toybox or something she has been delving into without him.  So do I ask him if it was theirs, do I just pitch it??????  This is so wierd, I don't want to know what my child is doing but OMG I never dreamed of finding such things in my house that belongs to my kids, if it belonged to him???????

Oh well.....as for the kids, no word on them or where I can find them or when I can see them.  I called her father to tell him I had a couple more boxes of her clothes today.  He said he would tell her she could stop by for them, I also told him I wanted to see the boys and he just grunted so hopefully she will let me have the boys for a day this week.  I miss them so much....  It's so unfair they didn't ask to be brought into this mess.

LuAnn, I can't believe she left stuff like that behind without knowing it. I'm wondering if 1) she left them thinking your dson would find them and get ticked about it, or 2) left them for the shock value for you to find as you did.  Either way, I'd toss them and not even mention it to either of them.  IF it was hers and not theirs, then she'd get the discusssion she was looking for with you, or 2) if it was theirs, think of dson devastation, knowing his mother found their sex toys.  Either way it would hard for dson when he's coming home after his ordeal abroad to deal with, right?

As for the kids.... there is probably nothing can you do untill dson gets home to fight her, as there is no 'visitation' on record with the courts.  Just be certain that dson gets that put into any separation papers or divorce proceedings from the start, so it's in black and white.

So sorry you are dealing with all this.

UT OH! I head limbs cracking.....not a good thing over my head!  Take care all you in with these advisorys and warnings today!  EEkkkkkkk!
