Connie-it's so hard to sit back and let them learn the hard way, but in the long run, I think that's best for them and you. I've posted before how my daughter got herself in a pile of legal trouble 3 years ago, and I sometimes wonder if the stress from that somehow triggered my breast cancer. Don't get me wrong-I'm not blaming my daughter for my cancer, but I sometimes wonder just how big a part stress had in its emergence.
My son-the one that was pulled over for DUI(but wasn't drunk) has decided to just go ahead and pay his speeding ticket rather than challenging it. He WAS speeding, though he certainly didn't admit that to the officer. I have to admire him a bit for taking his consequences.
I've told my husband many many times that stress from our kids may kill me yet!
Know that I am thinking about you.

OMG, that DD... drove herself to work today. She had her lic. susp. yesterday!!!!?!?!? She didn't attend the driver training class she was sched for last night cause she was too busy drinking wine and conjuring up images of the local law just kidding her by suspending her lic. She drove herself to work with no license. AND her sister told me that she RESENTED me going to court with her!! So, when she goes back to jail for, omg, like driving without a license, driving with a suspended license, breaking probation rules etc, etc. I'm not going to bail her out, again. Three times was the limit and she knows it. oh, wait... maybe I was kidding too!!! NOT.

Connie, I did cut that chemical doler-outer off my list of physicians. In addition to being condescending he was sometimes downright rude, I could never think of the right comeback right then, then would think of 12 when I got home. I refuse to be talked down to by someone I am paying for care! My new PCP is a woman whom I have heard so many endorsements of, that's why I had to wait so long for an appt.. Her first new patient appt. was April6th. I had to practice tough love many years ago with my daughter and a boyfriend I highly disapproved of over guess what, suspended driver's lisence. Her boyfriend seemed to think it was an option of whether or not he drove my car without a licence. When friends saw him driving my car that was the last straw. They had been living with us and I told her that she could stay but he was leaving. She chose to go with him, it broke my heart, tough love is very difficult. His behavior, drugs and alcohol finally got to her and she left him. We are best friends now, but it took awile for her to see the light. Kudos to you for drawing that line in the sand, it has to done but it is difficult

I don't have children but I can imagine how hard it is to see them run headfirst into trouble and be helpless to stop it.
I, too, changedd PCPs. My old one was a chauvinist. The new one is a woman. Much better. I have, however, run into those docs who are none too happy to be challenged.

Doctors who won't look you in the eye, dont deserve your patronage. They have a Holier-than-thou attitude and so many times they are just dead wrong. Its hard to change esp. PCPs but its worth it as testified above. I did it too, and I like the new one but he doesnt do some of the things I expected, like he doesnt do injections... sends me to a specialist for lots of stuff. And I'm mostly ok with that except when I asked for a Back Doc, he sent me to an ortho, but one that does knees and shoulders not spine. Now I have to wait some more for a spine ortho. bummer. Had and epidual planned, have had it planned 3 times and it seems to always get bumped by infections, they wont inject when you have any antibiotics going on and it seems like I constantly have some sort of infection. (lately its vaginal) and it takes me long to heal.
Stayed up late watching junk on tv and found a show called HungryGirl, she made brownie muffins with a Devils food cake mix and a can of pumpkin... thats ALL (heavy stirring) and they looked awesome. Gonna try that this weekend. We have our annual huge St. Patricks Day event comming up and I already planned to take muffins, just thought they would be banana nut or bran, chocolate is far preferable.
Have a good day! Its going to almost 70 today here - YAY, I'll be outside, soon.

Right?! She has a website under HungryGirl, I think. Can't believe I stayed up an extra half hour just to see what she put in those brownie/muffins.
It's a beautiful day here. I'm sitting on the back porch, in my comfy chair, watching the neighbors behind me raking leaves. Our leaves fall in the very late fall, usually all winter and then when the spring shows up the oaks drop their slick, thick little leaves and you have to do it ALL over again. So, we don't. We wait, letting the fallen leaves coat the lawn, protecting it like a layer of mulch against frost. When the oaks are done swapping winter leaves for summer then we get the riding mower out and cut, bag and mulch the hedges, the hydrangeas and along the back fence. Got some rogue bamboo coming up out there, it travels underground and can be quite invasive. I say 'we' like I have anything to do with getting them mower out, OR cutting, bagging... oh, yeah, I tell him where to put the mulch... hahahaha.
Speaking of neighbors. Last night, we were sitting out back chatting about the unusual new neighbors we have in the home behind us. The house is 300 ft. away and we have always enjoyed the beautiful yard. But the gentleman who lived there for 30 years passed and the family sold the house to what we thought was a young couple, him in the military. But there have been so many people over there it's hard to tell who lives there. There are 3 big dogs and a little white one. They have been very industrious setting up a funky little greenhouse and fencing and tending a garden patch. Once in a while they tether a dog outside and it's annoying but the dogs escape their back fence. Anyway, last night we noticed a red light, looked like it was on the porch, and for all the world it looked like a man was doing exercises? maybe? it appeared to be some sort of (for lack of a better word) ritual, standing shirtless at a table under the red light. We thought it was a window with a red curtain. But its not. It's a light fixture on one end of a pretty big porch. It was the strangest thing. DH said LOOK at this, GET UP and come look, so I did and thought maybe it was a big TV cause the movements were large and pronounced and the light so unusual, reflecting off this man. We got the binoculars. seriously. couldn't really tell much more except that it was definately a light fixture with a large red bulb and this dude was doing wide motions with his arms that looked like muscle flexing. It was 10 pm. Anybody got a clue why someone would exercise, outside, under a red lamp? curiouser and curiouser.
Enjoy this beautiful spring saturday.

He did it to see if he has nosy neighbours!!! Too funny! Did he kill any small animals or draw pentagrams with wax? ehehehhehehehehe

Connie,
I think your neighbor might be a little bit, um, weird. Yes, we sold our house...but then it un-sold (deal fell through). NOT A NIBBLE since. It is the land that is for sale for commercial so at least I don't have to show the house! I guess that's something...but I am sure ready to go back to Georgia.
barbe, you are too funny

Odd neighbor report; He had that red lamp on again last night. Then we looked up red light stuff and didn't find anything other than a band called Red Light Rituals and some wiccan stuff but that only talked about colored candles. Also, there is some light therapy as in, colored light bulbs usually LEDs being used to treat something specific like a hand or knee and the light is concentrated and directed at the injured or damaged body part. This guy was bathed in red light, along with the entire room/area. He must have seen us looking because he moved it off the porch and further into the house last night, hahahahahahaaaa... I am NOT a stalker. We were just minding our own business on our porch and he was right inbetween shrubs and trees in our visual proximity. also, he was doing something in a RED light. And it was weird. Very weird. And it's creepy and I hope he doesn't do it again out there on the porch. Just gave a bizarre vibe.
Other than that, my DD#1 is spending today in custody of local police as part of her sentence. That really sux cause she had a lawyer and he hardly helped at all. If he had mentioned to the DA or judge that this nicely dressed, clean, hard working young lady lives with her 81 year old grandmother and that there is no other help on the weekends.. yada, yada.. also that her other 84 year old granny's birthday is today and her #3 grandchild can't visit. I just don't like it and am pissed off.

I'd be pissed at my daughter too.

Thanks Claire, be pissed at mine with me. Like your statement/ in signature line... is that what tears are for? My eyes ought to be vividly clear by now, but they certainly aren't today.
It's such a hard thing, being a mother of adults. Hell, being a mother. period. A good one anyway, or at least one who attempts to interact and provide unsolicited advice to her grown kids. Maybe I should have backed off a long time ago, but I can't. We are all decently close and that brings the emotions into play on a regular basis.
I have to admit it's not as hard as it was when they were teens. I had 3 kids in 6 years, so they are pretty close in age and I tried really hard to give them a good sense of what "being close" to each other is good for. Mostly, it worked. It's just that in the past couple of years my family has faced some seriously difficult challenges, and I've been right in the middle of it all. Trying to be loving and supportive with no money is difficult. Not impossible, however. Maybe if I had the financial resources that I would like that I may have bought their way loose of these challenges. Since that was not an option, we have faced them together, holding on to each other. Even a break, isn't. A get-a-way just delays the dealing with things.
I suggested to dh last night that we select a TAX weekend... get started on a Friday morning, work the taxes out quickly, efficiently and when all done... LEAVE for the beach somewhere. But that won't happen. I dream on, thank goodness I still have some dreams left to dream.

WHAT?? WHERE DID EVERYBODY GO?
I DON'T WANT TO BE A THREAD ENDER, ESPECIALLY NOT THIS THREAD.
Ok, I promise to quit peeping at the neighbors doing weird things right in our field of vision.
I promise to only moan and groan. and to be plenty bitchy... ANYWAY.
Just come back!!!!!!!!!! There's so much left to rant;
mom, 81 had a colonoscopy, she's the drama queen's sister, so that was a blast.
I got blood drawn today, 4 vials!!! and a 1/2 cup of teetee.
Got a lumbar epidural scheduled for Friday, hoping that takes the pain and stiffness out of my back and legs. I've had some injections before, SI inj, lumbar facet inj. and hip ones for bursitis. and , um OW. Had the first one in my tennis elbow. Second one in the bottom of my foot... omg I could have bitten that docs hand off it hurt so bad. now I WANT one in my back. go figure.
Has anyone had reduction surgery on a rads breast? How'd it go?

Connie,
Yes, the neighbor is probably pagan, and he was doing a ritual related probably to getting more energy or putting up some protection on himself against some enemy (at work, probably). Or he might be getting deployed and usign this ritual for the same purpose.

well, thanks, Day thats the best explaination I've heard. That makes sense, that red light would bring power and/or protection. I didnt mean to call anyone out, just very curious about what we witnessed. As we have never seen anything like it.

hate to dissapoint.. it could just have been tai chi.. now ya got me wondering what my neighbors think when i do some kattas'..hahaha.. we're fenced in, so you really can't see my front yard..but with binoculars... 3jays

Connie, I can NOT believe that you are FINALLY getting the friggin' injection!!!!???!?! Didn't we talk about this a YEAR ago????? I thought you'd had it ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Remember, they will freeze you first and then you'll just feel pressure. My DH was allowed to watch me get 18 injections during a nerve block procedure but they wouldn't let him watch the one epidural injection....

Hey! Yep, it's actually been waiting for two years. Some infection with antibiotics would get in the way or my ins. wanted $1,000. co-pay. But now, I've been on social sec. disability for over two years and finally qualify for Medicare. I still don't know what the co-pay will be but I'm willing to take it on to get this injection. I can't believe you remember that after all this time. BUT, YAY. I got checked yesterday for UTI and today they called and said there was a trace of blood, but the culture won't be back for 5 days and I am NOT on antiB's today. I'm nervous about it but definately going thru with it. And I don't wanna look, except to see the floroscope image, that's fascinating.
Who watched themselves giving childbirth? I did. FIX that mirror so I can see or I'm NOT pushing again, hahahaha

I didn't get to see my kids born!! Waaaaaaaaaa.
There is a thread you MUST find called "Is this another UTI or what?" something like that. We've been discussing things like IC - interstitial cystitis. Check it out with Dr. Google. When I would give urine samples they would say they were contaminated with blood and make me do them again - thinking I was on my period. I had a hysterectomy 8 years ago!
I pay about $30 for the drug they inject. My insurance covers the injection. It's worth it. It may have to be done more than once, so don't be disappointed a couple months from now when your pain is back. My first lasted about 6 months, my second lasted years!
