I am new to the wax too. I'm still learning - but I use it here and there and kind of pull at the sections. I do sort of rub it on the top to lay it down. But I have to be careful because sometimes it shows on the hair if I use a little too much in one area. For me, it's an annoyingly tedious process. Expecially getting my bangs right.

saralmom you are so adorable, I thought that first pic you posted was you with dyed hair! My DD is home from NYC this weekend and is having a blast rubbing my head...the fuzz on top. She is amazed at how dark it is coming in, was always a light brown with highlights before. Still no curl..hmmm

Stacy: There is a great bra thread: Bras 101:The Great Post Exchange Debate. I swear by Victorias Secret but get yourself professionaly fitted at Nordstrom first. I had to purchase VS on line as they didn't carry my size or selection in the stores. Warners has some good ones, though they didn't work for me.

71 weeks of hair regrowth. Haven't really had a proper haircut, it is just growing naturally and doing its own thing! This picture was taken after straightening my hair. It is actually still extremely curly.

Marion, your hair looks very much like I would want my hair to look. 71 weeks is a long time though. I am only 1.5 weeks PFC. Oh well, only 69.5 weeks to go. Thanks for posting your lovely pic!

I just did the math, and I'm 37 weeks PFC. (I had been counting in months til now). I can't imagine my hair growing to that length (marion's) - no way - I am not half way there. Unless it starts to grow really fast the further we are out from treatment. Or maybe I'll notice a difference after I finish Herceptin tomorrow.

Nikola I am only 10 weeks post chemo. i have always had stick straight hair so not expecting anything different. Funny how everyone hates their curls and I would love some curl....guess we always want what we dont have.

saralmom, I am 30 weeks PFC. I was also counting in months. I do not think I am going to have that lenght either and I am not on Herceptin.
carberry, I had straight hair with some wave pre-chemo. It was growing straight up until 20 weeks then it started to curl and each day is more and more curly. I wished for curly hair, too. A friend of mine was diagnosed 3 years before me and she told me curly hair lasted a year for her then it came back to her pre-chemo hair.

Marion...you look freakin amazing...I can't wait until mine is that long.
I also have to straighten my hair, my avatar is 9 months growth and I have it washed, blow dried, stretched and flat ironed once a week, but then it lasts me the whole week and I dont have to worry about my hair at all (unless it rains...lol)

Here is what my hair looks like if I do not straighten it. Very different from the previous picture I posted! As you can see, it is still very curly after 71 weeks of hair regrowth. My hair was straight pre-chemo.

I have always had wavy thick hair, and recently (last couple of years) have worn it curly or straight (with help from good products)... so whatever comes in, I can deal with it... just want it to come in.

Well bdavis that's why you haven't seen hair yet. If it grew out straight it would be popping up but now that it curls it's taking a round about way to become airborn.

Hi girls
For those of you who have always had straight hair and now have to deal with chemo curls, just remember that you never, never brush curls. They will go haywire! :-) You need to use a comb with very wide teeth.
I've always had curly hair and my hair has always been extremely dry - heaven knows how it will grow in after chemo lol - I can't imagine it being curlier or any drier.
You need lots of good styling product - something that you leave in, this will help with the dryness too.
I'm now 12 weeks pfc, and my hair is coming back well. It's still fairly thin - ie I can still see a lot of scalp on the top of my head. The sides are really thick though. I've always thought the sides grew quicker than the top - will have to tell my hairdresser that I won that arguement lol. I wonder too if the Herceptin is slowing the growth down a bit. But the growth does seem to have suddenly speeded up over the past 2 weeks or so - so maybe not.
I had to pluck my eyebrows for the first time yesterday - I'm actually happier about the eyebrows and eyelashes coming back than the hair :-) Not so happy about the chin hair :-(

Lago.. I actually have some hair but haven't even finished chemo yet... so I hope what I have sticks around... it has been growing since tx 3 and have tx 6 Tuesday... hair on top sides and back is about an inch long (but very thin) and front and temples, nothing... but stubble.0

I am going to be losing my hair shortly here. I am wondering if not shaving my hair all the way down and rather just cutting It a 1/4 inch all over will help with ingrown hairs or follicle issues. What do you ladies think?

Cyborg, I lost my hair in Feb, I just had it buzzed to 1/4 inch all over, not shaved. You are correct shaving could be more irritating, and a nick or cut dangerous on chemo. I also still have some of the 1/4 inch hair. Once my hair really started to fall out I just used a wash cloth in the shower to get the pieces off. I wash my scaly daily with mild soap or my husbands Head and Shoulders which is good for the scalp.

Cyborg I cut my hair short when it started to fall out but never shaved it. I didn't even do the 1/4 inch. I think it's a good idea. The issue I had was even though I cut it short it was still a mess when it was falling out. I vacuumed my bathroom and pillow every day for several weeks. Get yourself a good lint roller!

I also cut mine to 1/8 inch and shaved just the very front because I am wearing a lace front wig and my hair was showing through... BUZZING instead of SHAVING was the best decision for me because I needed to see my hair that remained... and 1/8 inch left little to be messy... I tried to buzz it to 3/4 inch and that was still too messy.

Thank you, ladies. Lago, I have already cut my hair short, did u mean it would be a good idea to cut it down to 1/4 inch? I have the lint roller in my "care basket."

Yes I think once too much hair is gone to go without scarf or wig cut it down to 1/4 inch. Less messy.

Hi ladies - I don't post on here too much these days but I do read this thread from time to time to see how everyone's doing. Yesterday was my one year anniversary of the day I stopped wearing my wig. It was exactly 12 weeks post chemo and it was short. So, on May 7th 2010 I went out without a wig, scarf or hat and nobody looked at me strangely so I never went back to the wig after that. It's hard to believe it's been a whole year. I tried to post of farily recent picture but couldn't figure out how to do it. Maybe you can see my current hair in my little avatar photo.
