Anyone have troubles with hair growing back? I have naturally thin fragile hair and worry it wont come back to its stage.
Anyone surprise with more hair than they had or different texture?
I have poker straight blonde hair, super fine. It sure would be nice if it came in super thick. Wishful thinking!!!

Well, I have a hair question. Is it a do or a don't?
I have one more TC treatment, 2 weeks from tomorrow. I perhaps did something I shouldn't have today? My hair was still stubbley from when I had my hairdresser shave it to 1/8th of an inch April 5, 20-ish days after my first chemo. It was falling out in blonde hunks before I had her shave it. It seemed like it was still coming out, even though it was stubble, but not a lot. I shaved it down again today. I used hubby's electric razor. He and DD thought it had grown, is that possible?
My eyelashes and eyebrows are just starting to thin. Hair down there, not going anywhere! After shaving armpits and legs, haven't noticed any regrowth. Everyone says I have a beautiful head shape, not sure about that. I almost spit out my drink when I looked at your pic wtih Gollum, Lago!

Hi, I finished chemo over 18 months ago (Aug 09) and my hair has come back in, it is about the same color, the same curl, almost as thick BUT the texture is terrible. It is dry, dry, dry and it not the same type hair I had before. I do not know if this is an after effect of the chemo or caused by the arimidex. I asked my hair dresser about it last week and she sold me a product called "It's a 10, a miracle leave-in product".... and for the first time my hair looks normal and soft. Do not know if others have the same problem but thought I would pass this information along. I had purchased several products and they would work for a few hours and then it would look dry again. So glad to finally find something that works.

Hi, I read the last couple of pages and thought I would add my information... my eyebrow fell out and very few have come back 18 months later. I have had some tatooed on but to be honest I did not have alot of eyebrows to begin with; however, lots more than I have now. My eyelashes came back but seem shorter to me.
My hair is thin on top and crown but it was thin before chemo also. I use Rogaine once a day but do not know if it is helping or not. I started after my hair started growing back in and I had started Arimidex. I had read that arimidex could make hair thin if you were predisposed to thinning.. Do not use it twice a day since it is a bllod pressure medicine and my blood pressure was low on it. I read that once a day does about as much as twice a day.

ladym13: I had not heard that about Herceptin/50% slower hair growth. yikes I wonder if that's why mine is taking forever...or at least it feels like forever. 12 weeks out and it is sooo short- just cropped to my head. Was hoping for a bit more cuz hot weather but thankful that it is growing back. Eyebrows are back and that is such a blessing! I won't bother asking my ONC about Herceptin/hair- I know he will deny that connection!!
Nikola's: Thanks for posting your pics. Great hair! It's soo thick!

Sally... I have one treatment left of TC and my hair has grown during chemo... not a lot but it has for sure, as has my leg hair.. I have shaved my legs twoce since January... not much but enough to shave... I have left my hair alone on my head... I like seeing it grow.
And Diane... I use BRIAN JOSEPH eyelash and eyebrow gel ... have used it all thru chemo and will continue as directed for 6 weeks post chemo... It is $50 a tube and I am half way thru my second tube... It is supposed to be an organic version of latisse and does not change eye color as latisse can (maybe)... I have all my lashes, but my brows have thinned a lot, so I can't say if its working or not... just sharing... They have a website.

aimeemac - I remember you and I were on almost the exact same TC schedule from the Jan chemo thread. My last tx was March 11th. If it is any consolation (and it probably isn't) I look exactly like you 7 weeks out and am just as impatient with this ultra-slow-growing hair! I have read a few posts from ladies who said their re-growth was slow for the first 3 months and then really kicked in. I hope that will be the case for us too. I am beginning to wonder whether the AC chemo patients are experiencing faster re-growth than us TC types...0

My hair is coming in pretty good - looks like it may be curly but still a little hard to tell. A lot of grey but lots of black too...hmmmm. My natural colour was a med brown. I am receiving Herceptin but have not noticed that it is slowing my hair growth at all, but then I can only gauge it by others and what previous chemo gals tell me. Before chemo, all the hair that I had been removing or shaping most of my life (leg, underarm, bikini, brows) had pretty much given up the fight but with the exception of my underarm hair it's all coming back with a new vigour!! My brows need constant plucking and my legs I could easily shave every day...arrg! Guess I shouldn't complain.
Latisse made my brows grow crazy so I stopped. I waited until I had some lashes starting before I began using it on my lash line and now am seeing some results. I can even wear a little mascara now.

I wish I had found this discussion on hair before!
I finished chemo on 3/15, had BMX on 4/14 and start rads on Monday. I was prepared for losing the hair on top of my head and bought a very nice wig. My neighbor cut my hair short, then came back a week later and shaved off the rest. Since it was shedding all over my pillow, clothes and chicken noodle soup, I was glad to get rid of it. Surprisingly, it didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. I was actually understandably quite happy to not have to shave my legs or underarms. No errant chin hairs...bonus points. THEN my eyebrows and eyelashes fell out!!! This was another story. I was quite depressed about this. THEN my nails started turning gray, purple and red and two have popped off, with the rest feeling like they will be departing soon. I have now painted them a beautiful shade of pink, which makes me feel a little more normal.I also have neuropathy in my fingers and toes, another souvenir from chemotherapy. BUT, my hair is starting to grow back...ever so slowly, it is maybe a 5:00 shadow at this point. Around the house I mostly wear a baseball cap, or go " topless". I am hoping to post my stunning hair growth pictures in a few months!0 -
I am not good at figuring out how to do specific hairstyles or what products to use. I know I have a little ways to go before I have enough hair on top of my head for this stlye, but does anyone know how I would go about styling? The basics..ie: product, brushes, techniques?

Sandymess - Nice!! About 5 years ago I had my hair cropped short in a "Halle Berry" style. My hair was poker straight and I really didn't need any brushes or combs - just finger styled it and used a hair wax or hair paste (only a tiny bit) to texture it. Try to go with your hair - for example mine grows from the crown forward. The less you fight with it the happier you will be with the style. Don't use gels - they just turn hard and stiff. Oh and don't try to make it 'perfect'...lol you are going for the messy look! My A-type personality had a hard time with that.0

My hair is getting to the length where I now need to put something in it or it looks crazy-like! I bought something called "Bed Head Wax"---it is really sticky stuff and seems to work well. I was using my oldest son's gel but it was leaving behind some sort of residue!!?? I'll let him keep his $1.00 gel! I think that I am still a good month away from a hair cut that would help with a style--can't wait as the sides look too bushy but top is thinner.

Marjie... funny about the type a personality. I wish I had all the hours back that i spent on my hair. My DH is so conditioned to think of my hair first, if its raining he always dropped me off at the door, now I have to remind him that it doesnt matter, my wig can get wet and the style stays the same. I hope when it grows back I will relax a little and just go with it.

Sorry for the off topic question...but I figured someone could possible help.
Can anyone recommend a good wireless bra, for full figure? Underwire bras don't feel real good on the side I had radiation. So I'd love any suggestions anyone can offer.
Thanks,
Stacy

Bali makes some really nice supporting non underwirers. I got fitted at Macy's bought 1 then went to the outlet mall to buy more. Can get them there at almost 1/2 the price!! I am still wearing them after my MX with a little fiber puff.
Good luck, joann

sandymess - thats one of the photos I took in to my stylist when we were just starting out with how to work with this hair. It turns out my hair is too curly for that look anyhow, but I try for something similar sometimes. It does take a straightening iron, and wax. I have found that the wax helps with keeping hairs controlled and in place (sort of), and also with giving it that messy look too. I'm now going for more of this look (with a little more wave due to the curls I have to tame):
with a goal of getting to something like this
and then finally maybe this:

Thanks for the tips, marjie. Yeah, I have that perfectionist personality, too. I can see me struggling to make my hair a perfect 'mess'. lol
saralmom, your hair looks great! Right now my hair is poker straight but maybe it will start to curl when it gets a bit longer.
When you put the wax on to texture it, do you smear it all over your head like you would with mousse? Or do you just sort of pull at different sections with it. (I told you I'm really not good at this. I've always had long hair that did pretty much what it wanted.)
