I'm 25 days PFC and we have peach fuzz!  I was going "topless" around the house yesterday and saw the little fuzz as I was cleaning a mirror.  Grow, baby, grow!

Yeah for hair Tammy.  I continue to count the days.  Looks like my brows and lashes are getting thinnerCry.  I am 17 days PFC.  From what everyone is posting, looks like once hair sprouts, thing go quite fast.  Lago, it is amazing looking at your dates how quick your hair is growing, I think Caroll2 also showed some amazing progress.  Now us Jan girls can start to get excited.

11 weeks PFC.  Been topless for a week.  Was at Lowe's today and a young associate said she liked my hair, and wished she could pull off ultra short hair.  I told her I just got off chemo.  Should have just said thank you.  Smile  Next time I'll know.

Dawn, you look BEAUTIFUL!!  Personal question:  did you dye your hair?

Yes Maureen, I did.  I used Natural Instincts once, and that really didn't cover the coin sized greys on the top of my head.  A week later I used Nice-n-easy root cover up.  Still didn't eradicate the coins, but I use FanciFull to cover them....help cover them, anyway.  I don't have enough hair to justify 'real' color with a real hairdresser yet. Embarassed

    And thank you!!

    Dawn,

You look great.  I'm 3 months PFC and my hair looks a bit shorter than yours. I've been going topless for the past 3-4 weeks.  I figure it's my contribution to cancer-awareness!  lol  Nice to see someone from DE.  I lived in Newark for 20 years and worked at Caravel for 17 of those years.  We moved to TX in "08.

Thanks Scrabblelady!  I love scrabble too.  I live maybe 15 min from Caravel.  My kids wanted to go there.

As for the cancer awareness....do any of you go to say the grocery store and they ask you if you want to contribute?  I feel I have already contributed with my life.  My dollars are paying for my deductibles and copays.  That kinds sucks.

I am luckier than most, in that I have worked full time during treatment, but I work from home. Not many of my co-workers know I have been through cancer treatment.  Last time I worked with them in a group setting was in February, and I wore a wig.  Now I have a big install on June 26.  I hope I can grow more hair in the next 6 weeks.

Sandymess, it is about 1/4" over my ears.  But the hairs want to go a way of their own.  I thought of using gel, but I didn't want to be accused of playing for my own team.  No offense to those of you who do.  My PS said she has other patients who dealt with the same.  I am single and want and need sex.  Sucks.

dawn,  another good looking head of hair.  Most times when people have complimented me on my hair (wig), I have just said thanks.  But a few times I have said, "thanks, but its a wig", really shocks people, not sure what has made me do this, since it has usually been a stranger.Tongue outOnce when my son was with me (12 year old), he suggested I remove it and ask if they want to borrow it.  HA< HA.  He wants my wig when I am done to wear to crazy hat day at school next year.

Have you colored your hair?  I have a feeling mine is going to have alot of gray.

I did  color my hair, but it seems I have fewer greys than before.  Maybe it's just too short to see. My hair seems to be lighter than before.  It is still straight.  I had crazy curly hair before.  At this point I don't care if I get curls or straight hair.  Or brown or grey or purple....I just want hair!!!  I work from home but have a big software install in 6 weeks.  I hope I can pull off short hair for then.  I work from home and never EVER see anyone I work with.  Last time I saw anyone I worked with, was last Feb and I had a hot wig.

    Hi

I post here occasionally.  My avatar is about 30 weeks PFC.  My daughter was giving me a facial for mother's day and felt the need to take a picture of me looking weird with a face mask and cucumbers.   Today's big suprise was what happens to my hair after I sweat .  Holy smoke I have short little corkscrews all over my head.  A family member was attributing it to "chemo curl".  Could be that.  But, my old hair had some curl in it and I have never intentionally had hair this short so who knows.

Lago - wow!  beautiful before, during & after.  I'll have to take another pic of my regrowth...seems to be getting really dark now, I just keep trimming the fuzzy grey ends off.  Might even be curly too though it's still too short to tell.....I'm thinking if it was totally straight, it would be sticking straight up, but it's not.

Btw...where is your port??  I didn't see it in the pictures - mine is right in the middle of my chest like a third eye - or maybe nipple lol.

I finished TAC chemo on 27 April; 2 days before you.  A week or so before that I noticed white peach fuzz on parts of my scalp.  It has expanded a bit in area but not grown much in length since that time. It is about 1/8 inch long at most. I can also see some darker hairs trying to burst through but again growth is very slow.  Some parts of the scalp are still hairless. I think this may correspond to the areas that were last to lose hair.  I am using Minoxidil now and then and taking a B complex vitamin daily. Underarm and leg hair are not growing either; just stubble that has been there a while.

I hope your hair starts growing soon as I understand how frustrating the wait must be.  I will let you know when my growth takes off.

marjie, wow, I wonder why they put your port in the middle of your chest...usually it's on the side.  Are you still going out "topless"?  Yesterday I finally got the nerve up to go to the store without anything on my head, but then fell asleep for 3.5 hrs. from my radiation.  Trying to work up the nerve again, but for some reason I fear running into someone I know...don't know why this is bothering me so much, I'm not a vain person!

Racy,  keep me posted, I thought I might have felt some stubble on my legs this morning.  I am taking the biotin (B complex).  I am going to by a magnifing mirror todayTongue out.  Hope you are feeling well.  I am so happy chemo is done!!

margie, my port is on the side of my chest, just above my TE, if I wore a bra the strap would almost cover it.

thegood5 - yep, once you go topless I don't think you ever go back lol!  I have actually ran into people who haven't seen me for awhile - you can tell they are kind of taken aback but I just keep talking like everything is normal or sometimes I make a joke about my "new do" and it puts them at ease.  To be honest I don't even think about it anymore.  Over the weekend I was out training with my boat team - the coaches were video taping everyone in order to analyze and critique our strokes - it was funny because it took me a minute to recognize myself and then I wasn't watching my stroke I was starting at head Kiss

As for my port - it's slightly off to the left but still low and in the centre of my chest.  I don't know why they put it there especially since that's the place with the least amount of flesh/fat for it to sit! My DH thinks they "screwed up" but I think that it's placement depends on what shows up for veins and the way you are put together once they get started.  It's not very hideable, but oh well!

I'm glad I found this thread, though wish it was earlier.  Never thought to take picture of my hair re-growth along the way.  I'm now 17 weeks PFC and just took my first pix.  I admit I didn't think much about my hair all through treatment, but I never realized it would take so long to grow in.  I had short hair before dx, so I'm not looking for much...

It's coming in very curly, but I was curly before and more grey than before, but still mostly brown. I have not yet gone "topless".

Anyone have experience with Anasazi Bee Pollen shampoo and conditioner?  My treatment center gave it to me when I was first dx and said to use it when I was losing my hair and when my hair came back in.  I'm using it, but only 3x week b/c there is so little hair.

lago - thanks for the pictures, it's very hopeful!!

thegood5  Love the pics.  I always think everyone looks great with just a little growth back and I dont know anyone, so if we are out in public I am going to assume no one else will think its a big deal either.  You also rock the baseball cap.  gorgeous daughters by the way. In the first pic are you standing in front of wine bottles?  You can see what my priorities are! LOL

yes, that's our "wine wall"....yes, I drink, curse me , that's "probably why I got cancer"..lol!  Thanks for the compliments, I think my girls are cuties!   When I was at rads today, a woman probably in her 30's came out and I had never seen her there before.  She was beautiful, and her hair was shorter than mine, kind of the fresh buzzed look.  Her hair was dark and she had a tan and makeup on and she just looked so pretty and confident...wishing I could feel that comfortable going out without a hat.  I think the same thing you do when I see someone out and about and their hair is really short...just a short cut and don't think anything about it, but for some reason when I look in the mirror, all I can see is someone with cancer.  Blah.  Just ready for some bangs and then I think I will feel better about it.

Thegood5, Thanks for your pics, you look great! I am 6 weeks and 5 daysPFC. I have a good amount of hair on sides and back, not top and front. I have similar hair to my DH! I look just like a man who is balding, haha! I am getting back eyelashes and eyebrows ,although too short for mascara. I hope to wear that in a week or so. I know I have to be patient, just can't wait to go topless!

thegood5 you look great such pretty eyes. I know what you mean about not wanting to go out topless. My hair is shorter than my husbands. It's long enough now though that it looks like a very short cut.

My issue is really, that i feel like my face looks better with long blonde hair, and I feel more feminine with long hair. But the thing that is really bugging me is the thin spot on back of my head that always looks like a just woke up no matter what i do to it. I am thinking of using the rogaine on that spot but i don't want to be a slave to it, I am afraid what will happen if I stop using it.

Christine here is an update to my progress chart. It has only been three weeks but looks really different to me.

You can see how my hair is curling now. I don't do anything to it except a little styling paste. I have not gone out topless or with a little headband a few times this week when the weather was very warm.

I went to a doctor appointment today with a new ENT to check on a sore that keeps coming and going in my throat. Anyway she asked what i did for a living and when i told her i used to be an art director (unemployed now) she said oh yeah you look artsy lol. So i guess it's a look  . . .
