Class of 78, dressed like Stevie Nicks, even had the perm. Oh yeah.

Jean--I'm thinking of you and sending prayers your way.

Karen -- LOL loving the image of you as Stevie Nicks!

Nedeza -- OMG I STILL wear Candies!  And I agree about the music of the 70s... who remembers Bread?  Carly Simon's "Anticipation" when I was 12 made me feel SO cool when I played it (wearing my LONG jean skirt made from an old pair of very faded jeans).

Jazzy -- Yay so glad you joined the 70s memory groove!

There is something about thinking about the upcoming (8 MONTHS away) reunion in Las Vegas that makes me feel 17 again -- looking forward to hanging out with my girlfriends.  What a nice feeling!

Robin -- I'm sorry you're having trouble 8 months after the fact -- that BITES.  Whatever the problem, it can be fixed (I am sure)... but hopefully fixed easily.  You should call your PS.

NAE - My DH and I are also going to see James Taylor/Carole King  in May.  We have Friday night tickets.  Which night are you going?

Class of 79 - Elton John, BeeGees, John Travolta, bell bottoms and then those too tight Gloria Vanderbilt jeans in college, polyester blouses, disco (I was a Rhode Island girl), wanted Farrah hair but it was too straight, so many disastrous perms, clogs, Dr. Scholls, the list goes on and on.

Had my pre-op yesterday and the PS was very comforting - he'll bring in a variety of sizes for the Allergan 15, all close to 400.  My DH told him not to go too large b/c he got concerned looking at the VERY well endowed officee staff (all at least DDs if not highter!  I think I'll call the PS and clarify things once more before next Friday's surgery.

Best wishes for a great Valentine's weekend,

    Kristen

Kristinka -- Disco!  YES.  How could I forget?  I used to sneak into the clubs in Boston with my girlfriends when I was 16 (back then it was easy because you only had to pass for 18).  Definitely had GV jeans (with black sweaters of course).  And I can remember going to an Elton John concert at the Garden in Boston... when I was around 12... and we all stepped out of the arena (into the hall) when he sang Funeral for a Friend because Jeanne Dixon had predicted the roof would cave in on that song.  (Well, at any rate, that's what a friend said and we all of course believed her).  We stepped into the halls and the roof did NOT cave in (so all that happened was we missed the song LOL).  In retrospect, if such a thing HAD occurred, the hall would NOT have been safe.

    Happy Valentine's Day weekend all!

Malle ~ My exchange was 12/4/09 and nips are scheduled for 3/25.  My PS said I may need some fat grafts.  He does it outpatient and told me I will get just enough drugs to keep me from pain and mainly from trying to tell him what to do ~~ guess he has come to know me pretty well over the last 15 months.  Ha!

Can't wait to see Teresa's new nips!  PS said I could hang a hat on them for the first few weeks.

Hi whippetmom (the expert as far as I can tell!)

I am new to this site so am posting to different threads..sorry for being such a newbie

My name is Kristen and I was diagnosed with BC on 10/20/09 then had double masectomy with tissue expanders placed on 11/25/10.  I went through a lot of unusual pain (according to PS) so much so that I wasnt filled till 6 wks post-op.  I had two total fills and after last one developed a red spot where a courner of my expander (skin thin here--expander right there)  seemed to be irritating from the inside out. PS went safe and said no more fills, lets schedule exchange for 2/25/10, maybe stretch you a little more right before surgery, and he will bring in to op room different sizes of implants to try to get me a little bigger (was smaller than an A cup and would like to be a solid B).  I wanted one more fill to get a little bigger than I am now.  I am 5'7'' and weigh 125lbs.  My skin was left very thin on left due to cancer.

The help I am asking for is this: What questons do I ask PS on tuesday 2/16 for last appt before exchange?  Will I be able to get a little bigger with possibly not be stretched anymore with him trying diff. sized implants (silicone)? I dont know off hand what brand he uses. What will I see after operation--can I get in on the private picture forum  please?

Thank you for your support and advice

    Kristen

Glad to hear sftfemme is done and happy!!  The size is pretty funny at first! But does look pretty darn good after it settles:)

My chic shaper finally arrived, could have used it the last few months!  Will give it a try next week.  Still sore and not driving 8 days after exchange, blah.  Of course I'm improving daily and walked a bit today down street, have to pull it together we have tix for broadway tomorrow!

Hi girls--Several weeks ago we were talking about how hard all this is on our husbands, and that it is all about us for so long. I wanted to do something that was just for him. Well, we're getting a new puppy. We had lost our beloved little brittany spaniel after fourteen years, and to make matters worse it was just a couple of weeks after my MX. My husband was just crazy about that little dog and he was devastated, and I was too, but very preoccupied at the time. Well, I started searching the rescue sites for a young brittany and located one fairly close to where we live. I got pictures from the foster parents and it was love at first site for my DH. We are meeting them half way tomorrow and bringing her home. Yeah!!! Our house has been way too quiet for way too long.

I'm totally excited about picking up our new little girl and while we are in the 'big city ' I get to go bra shopping. Hope I find something that fits and looks good. With any luck these very rounded things on my chest will shape up in a bra and not look like mellon halves.

    Take care everyone,

    Bobbi

On another topic. Has anyone been using the chic shaper? and have you seen any improvments in the foob placement? Katey--Is there something in particular you are trying to correct? I hope you get beyond the sore part soon. took me about three weeks to feel 80% better, then slow improvement since then, but at two months I'm nearly normal.

    Bye, Bobbi

We are going on a Saturday to see the pair at the the Hollywood Bowl.  The Eagles are playing there too in April.

I tell ya...did'nt realize how many of us are from the 70's.  Everyone...don't forget the tight bodysuit that Oliva Newton-John wore...of course...don't forget Rod Stewart in his "Don't You Think I'm Sexy!" days!!!

Teresa..........here's to nips!!  Aren't they great?  I've had mine for two and a half weeks now and they look great.

I am in Georgia, north of Atlanta, and we had the most beautiful snowfall today.  It is a wet snow and all the trees are just beautiful.  Snow is a really, really big deal here, so we are going to kick back and enjoy it.  Just wish I could get in our hot tub!!

    Have a great weekend everyone!

Wow what a walk down memory lane...I'm class of '80 too.  Definitely remember the hiphuggers, platform shoes, feathered haircuts, bodysuits, etc.  Earlier in the 70's we went through a phase wearing leather mocassins too. Anyone remember earth shoes!?!

Back to the point though, I wanted to mention that I just found a website, www.thepinkbra.com, that has lots of nice bras, camisoles and panties as well as lymphedema sleeves and similar that clearly caters to the breast cancer/mastectomy woman, so I thought I'd share that.  Some of it is pretty and sexy, and other is more functional/support, so you might check it out if you're still looking for sources of new lingerie.  I haven't ordered anything so can't vouch for shipping time, etc., directly, but it looks legit.

I am curious about nipple reconstruction.  How did those of you that have had it done.....how did you know you wanted to do it?  I just can't decide.  How long did you wait after exchange to have it done?  Any body out there that just went with tatoos?

OMG - EARTH SHOES!!!  I lived in mine.... Birkenstocks are as close as I've seen since then, but the birks are not a comfortable!!!

Navy, I thought about tatoos but I changed my mind badk to real nips... I don't feel quite right without the nips..

I am still waiting for someone to tell me how long they were off work after nipple grafts.  Anyone???

First, yes, insurance should pay for recon/augmentation to other breast for symmetry purposes.

2 ques. - what is a chic shaper?

Next ques. - I am scheduled for exchange on 3/4 and have been reading about some experiences of recent exchanges. How painful is the exchange? Is it more than the Mx? Actually, my MX surg was not bad at all and I'm getting nervous about the exchange. I know I'll have meds for the pain, but I hate taking that stuff. Between meds and the anesthesia, it sucks. Sorry if I'm being whiny but it's just getting on me.

    Have a good evening. Chris

Do you mean the Wallabee shoes....remember those?

    Chris~

The exchange was way more easier than the MX...at least for me.  I only had a single MX.  The healthy side that had been augmentated at the exchange surgery "hurt" more!  Otherwise..the process was a breeze compared to the MX.

I bought a Chic Shaper just to see how it works...how it might help some of you.  It is a very sturdy device.  I can see how if you needed to have the TEs or implants moved medially - towards the sternum and away from the armpits - or with implants sitting too low and needing some lift - this could do the trick.  It is not a correctional device for those who have implants sitting too high on the chest wall, centered medially on the chest wall, or sufficiently positioned on the chest wall.  I would show this to your PS - just to get his/her YAY or NAY. Make sure it will not disrupt skin integrity. The sizes run small.

Of course, AFTER all is said and done, this Chic Shaper fulfills its intended function of being worn with a bra to give you mega-cleavage.  So if you have plans for a Renaissance fair in your near future....

As I mentioned previously, I found mine new, in the box, on Ebay for $13.99 and this included tax.

p.s. I think we all need to say a prayer for Nodar Kumaritashvili's family and friends...so very very sad.  :-(

Bobbi!  What exciting news to be bringing home a puppy today!!  We lost our precious dog a few years ago and I have been on my dh's case to adopt another! the pressure will be on again when I'm able to walk a dog:) Definitely a good thing for the both of you!  I'm glad you told me how long it took you to feel better, I've been wondering if it's a state of mind.  Guess I'm just overly optimistic!

The chic shaper looked like a great solution for  TE support (one side was heavy), while helping with shoulder damage recovery, thought it would help me to pull my shoulders back a bit, will see if it's necesarry with implants.  It took about 2 weeks to arrive by mail order. Julie had found one at walgreen's, here's the site www.getchicshaper.com

Chris, I'd agree with Nedezza, the exchange isn't a cakewalk but definitely easier that the mx. On another site, can't remember where someone mentioned no aerobics for a month after nips because of graft, anyone else find that?  Maybe I'll put it off till fall, want to get back into my excercise program!  I have one skin graft nip, one benefit is it hides a portion of the mx scar. And after all these years and surgery it's still in the right place:)
