Rita, nothing better than meeting a good friend....it's like picking up right where you left off whether it's been days or years. About contacts...yesterday at work I put in my contacts after cleaning them thoroughly (I even look at them in the microscope and they were perfect)....but I couldn't see and thought it was just a temporary blurr...finally I went to take one out and it wasn't there....haha there were 2 in the left eye. Makes sense, right??

Mommarch, you have had a very challenging year and I am sorry to hear about your grand-nephew. I hope he is comfortable and mending already.

Tomorrow I drive back to MA near Boston to take care of my little grandaughters (6,2) for 2 days. I can't wait to see them but I am way behind in packing and planning. I have to go in to work then catch a ferry which is in the opposite direction.

This has been a difficult time on BCO...another sweet friend is an angel. So sorry for her family and friends who love her.

Mommarch so very sorry to hear about u'r great nephew---wow that sounds soooo painful, it's best that he doesn't have to fee all this pain and his body will heal better.

Carole u and u'r sister are wonderful--so patient and caring. And yes u'r sister should talk to the school to address any learning issues they have to have special help for anyone who needs it and someone can unlock that door for the dyslexia, My DD had that and she was in a special class and after they worked with her she couldn't read enough so there is help out there for that.

Kaara u are having so much fun it's great and u'r busy all the time. We're all happy for u.

Sally I'm glad everything is well with u. When reports come in tell us exactly. OK?

Mgster I remember just sitting watching the test pattern, thought that was great and of course Winky-Dink and the magic color screen. LOL

Di I have never heard of razor things before--it's amazing u both love fish usually one at least doesn't like it--like me. I'm glad tho that u and u'r DH had a nice BD for him.

Jackie u are so sweet how u think of u'r day, it's so you.

Oh my BOSS came over today to show me a new program he wants me to use on the computer, that;s like trying to teach a dog how to meow. So I took notes ha--but somehow, someway I did do it the last few phone calls--I don't know this job sounded so easy and it all computer stuff and we all know what I'm like on and with a omputer it's a shame I've really limited my brain to BCO and people I know well, now it's out in the world, that's not a good thing.

Oh and Rita isn't it amazing how when we talk to family or friends we can solve all these world problems and don't think it's as confusing as the government make it. LOL

So Cammi! WHAT were you saying?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dX3tdG8Gd6U

And remember how the stations would "sign off" at night? I remember taking those glass tubes up, to have them tested, and replacing them ourselves.... Not the Picture tube though!

Sorry Mommarch! Wow.... Sounds like a drug-induced coma, would help give him time to "heal".....

Sally, I know! I think we used to also have glasses to see the TV in 3-D? And they used to say, "don't sit so close, because the rays aren't good for you!"

All of that "technology" was just amazing.... I remember when computers came out, and how I thought I COULD NEVER LEARN HOW TO WORK ONE OF THOSE!!!! And when a TV show would broadcast news from ANOTHER State! How mind-boggling that was!

Okay gals! Hope you have a fun week-end!

Burrrrr....it's still very cold here this morning! Having my coffee and getting ready to start my day. BF has already gone to his heart doctor to be cleared from his pacemaker surgery. I can tell it is working fine...he no longer gets dizzy at all, and he seems to have much more energy. In the future I will know exactly when that thing is malfunctioning! Just before the surgery he was getting tired all the time and got dizzy every time he put his head below his waist. Exercise was a chore and he wouldn't do hills.. considered a hill anything that resembled a bump in the road. Now he sometimes walks ahead of me!

Last night's dinner was great but not good for me I know, and we have another bad eating day coming up on Saturday. One thing about the beach house...there are two sets of stairs and I use them a lot when I'm there, so I managed to lose two pounds last week, by going up and down carrying heavy objects that BF was not able to lift yet. It's like the ultimate stairmaster...lol!

Today it's mani and pedi time...nails are broken off and a mess since I've been moving and working hard cleaning and fixing things. Also need to get my hair trimmed and eyebrows waxed...ugh! My nails have never been the same since I used that gel polish last year...it weakened them badly and my friend got a horrible allergy from it. Her dermatologist told her never to use that stuff because it goes into your bloodstream and causes all kinds of problems. I loved it while it lasted.

Di: Love razor clams....I first had them when I went to the Pacific coast years ago. You can't get them on the Atlantic coast, so it's a treat I look forward to when I go out west.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

Kaara, you warned me about the gel nail polish and I ignored your warning. The polish was so pretty and durable. It lasted 2 to 3 weeks. But just as you said, my nails got very thin. But they're back to normal now. I seldom get a manicure because it doesn't last long. I use my hands all the time and putting on rubber gloves is too much trouble.

Sounds like the new BF is a bad influence on you with the eating. You were so committed to eating healthy before you met him. But you sound very happy with the new relationship.

I pulled a muscle or some 70 yr. old body part in the upper left shoulder/back area yesterday. That's my excuse for staying in bed this morning until 8 am. My only commitment today is taking my mother to her hair apptment at 11:30.

Healing thoughts sent out to Mommarch's great nephew and Sally.

Yes..... the gel-nails ARE beautiful, but your nails are really damaged by what-ever it is that they use? That light? My hands are just getting back to "normal" after a couple years of ECZEMA that drove me nuts..... You can buy the gel-polish kits, but I wouldn't try THAT again.

Not sure what STARTed it, but I'm really careful now of everything I do!

Carol, the "rubber" gloves really bother me.... Made from Merecaptabenzothole or something like that..... And it's also in the pet spray I used on our dog, for hot-spots. It's MBT... And now I can use vinyl gloves.... just nothing with rubber....

Bought a little Shark mop ....(even has a light, like maybe it would come in handy for when I mop the laminate with all the lights out???) Loopy But the little sprayer really works great! Used it on our kitchen floor also!

Then I just bought a swiffer extend duster thing? It's good for getting under the furniture, so I don't have to move it out!

DH wanted a Hot-Dog for dinner.... I just like the ones at Costco! And I'll bake a huge Sweet Potato....

Okay..... better go do SOMEthing! xoxoxo

Had fun with my little grandson today. Took him for a long walk since today was such a beautiful day. We stopped in to visit a good friend who is getting better from an awful case of vertigo. It was so bad she had to call #911 and was in the hospital for 3 days. They told her it will be about 6 weeks before she is better and can go back to work. She just sat while we made a quick visit and said she is still so dizzy. So scary that she went to bed normal and woke up like this.

My husband just went to Subway to get our dinner. I love their tuna sandwich. I get it with spinach, tomatoes and provolone. Little Jackson wore me out and I'm just too tired to cook. :)

    Enjoy the weekend, ladies!

Mgster that's the way to spend the day, but it's exhausting and u shouldn't cook, just happy time.

Chevy how many commercials did u see of Mable and Morty with their mops--I love those 2, he tells how how dangerous it is YET he barely helps her up the ladder--but that sounds like what u got--they look good to me--if I did such menial workWinking OK I do clean my room and wash my clothes and dust but I pretty much live in my room with my cat and it doesn't bother me what it looks like I actually live here so whatever.

I got busy with work this afternoon and I wanted a nap, but I have to stay alert hahaha cuz thinking has not been a priority for me for a few years so I have to pretend that I know how to.

I got the turkey "bug" and had to have some today. They are 88 cents a pound here. We got a little 12 lb one...have never cooked such a small turkey. Dinner was good and now we'll have plenty for turkey sandwiches for a couple of days. Tomorrow I'll make some turkey stock with the bones. Of course we'll do another turkey in two weeks, but I simply couldn't wait.

I got a consult to a physical therapist and went three times this week. He is trying deep tissue massage and stretching to help with the remaining tightness from surgery. My range of motion is much better already but oh I'm sore. I'm trying to go into this next surgery (in 3 weeks) in better shape. I'm hoping it will make my recovery easier and faster. I'll go back to physical therapy as soon as the doc says I can.

Mike and I went to the officers club tonight to dance a little. Since my stroke I hadn't been able to, but we tried it two weeks ago and I didn't fall over, so we tried it again. My balance is crap and I get very dizzy, but as long as he is holding me, I can do it. We couldn't make it through a whole song...I'm just too out of shape, and we did more sitting than dancing, but it was fun. After teaching ballroom dance for so many years, it's been hard to give it up.The band was so good and it was nice to get out of the house, even for a little while. We ran into people we know from the dancing community and even some former students of ours. Everybody wants to know when we are going to teach again. Sadly, never.

Sandra I'm so glad u got out even for a while u appreciate all there is to the music and of course dancing, so that does have to hurt. But u haven't turned u'r back on it so that's good. Years ago my cousin who was about 12 years old than I was always at the Harvest Ball in Chicago I think that's what they called it--He had won a couple of time and just loved ballroom dancing, but at weddings all the girls family and all wanted to dance with him, and when I did he made me look great on the dance floor--it was him, but I remember when I danced with him I was really good, then I'd dance with my dad and he would leave me right on the dance floor and tell me I couldn't dance, when he was all over my feet, my dad would always say I put my feet under his. Gee dad I could dance wih Jimmy like a professional but I'm the bad dancer--he never put it together. Oh well

    And u couldn't wait 2 more weeks--that's so funny, u silly girl u. But good for u

Sandra....I'm with you on the turkey. It is not only yummy, but so good for you. I too used the turkey bones and love making turkey soup......which only consists of taking whatever ( generally ) was a part of the Thanksgiving dinner plus adding a little extra onion, maybe more peas, more celery and some macaroni. I usually make it, cool it....then put it in jars and in the freezer......and when we don't know what we want ........ or its a cold out and we want something good and hot......out comes the soup.

You have a great spirit...life may have gotten you down with some of her events, but you don't give up. I always say to myself.....you will just have to hit me til' I don't get up anymore because I'll never have a good enough reason to quit on my own. Some changes, some alterations, but we are still who we are......and we really don't have to leave all of our song inside.....we can still let some out.

Blustery day here....sort of glad I didn't go big time on the leaves yesterday. It will rain later and sounds like it is expected to really pour tomorrow. Sigh !!!! That will get most of the leaves down for sure and then if not too cold we can begin again.

Dh still recovering from his hernia repair. Not so happy about how it is going. He frets about the staples ( ? maybe they should have stitched it ??? and it drained something.....) he forgets he is 74 and healing takes longer now so hopefully.....he will relax and give mother nature a chance.

Hope you all have a great Saturday.

Cam....loved how you described dancing with your cousin and your Dad. What great memories and a Dad who was sure of himself. Of course, it had to be you, eh??? Neither of my parents were dancers, but I loved it when I was young ( not slow dancing ) and back then, lots of guys didn't like the faster dances so it was nothing for two girls to be out on the floor. I danced all night long....as long as there was music......I was moving to it.

You always have such neat responses to people and I find myself ( after your answers ) wondering why I missed the part that you were answering too.

We all see things a bit differently, huh !!! Just why these conversations are so great.

    Peace and love

Ha-ha, nothing gets us down for long. We are all strong women after what we've been through. All of you on this board have full lives and interests. It's a pleasure to spend time with you here. My daughter always says that I will not admit defeat until I can't pull myself across the floor with one finger anymore. She's right.

Our two days of "winter" is over. It got down to 33 one night but is warming up quickly. Should be 70 today and back to 80 tomorrow. Hope it gets cold before Thanksgiving. So often we have to have the air conditioner on, which kind of ruins the experience. We have gone to some friends' home every year for over 20 years. They have a big group, usually about 50 people, so it's fun and noisy.

What are your Thanksgiving traditions? What's on your menu?

Beautiful day here today, reached into the 60's and sunny. Went shopping with a friend, and so did everyone else in town. Didn't buy much, most of my Christmas shopping is finished, or will be gift cards/checks. Makes life a lot easier, esp. with so many grands.

Not much else new. Went to my primary/onc. I have had an arrythmia for years(spelling) and take medication which helps, but doesn't eliminate it. He suggested I see a new specialist, an electro cardiologist. Figured I can't loose anything, add 1 more MD to the list:). So go see him on the 25th. That's what us old folks do, plan life around our doctor appts!

Saw you talking about china. I have my own and my Grandmothers Lomoge. Haven't used either in quite a while. Might get brave when we do New Years with a few friends, instead of the usual paper goods! Our daughter usually does the holidays any more. This year we decided to go out for Thanksgiving dinner with another couple, instead of the big noisey gathering at her house. Only thing is I do miss the leftovers! My Mom's family were of German heritage, I grew up with sauerkraut as part of the holiday menu!

Gotta go check the mail. Have a good day.

REALLY Jackie! Tell him he's damn lucky they didn't used barbed-wire, like they did on US! And drain? Shall we tell him about DRAINS? Ha, ha!

My DH would be the same.... They do not take kindly to any repairs or illnesses easily. We are their built-in nurses, and body guards..... Not to mention chief cooks, and bottle washers, and sounding boards. And get the mail, and the newspapers, and tote that barge!

I'm so glad you got to dance Cammi! That makes me happy! I used to dance all around the house to all that music we used to love! And me and the girls would go out every chance we got when our Husbands were hunting! THAT was our time to play! And yes, we DID! We would go dancing, and drinking, and it was just magical!

I say better than that hunting ANY day...Ha!

We were married when we were kids.... not even old enough to drink.... and I never went to a bar... or dancing... or a club! BUT we soon learned, like when we were 40 that going out to eat, and then dance, was SOOoooo much fun! It was like we were sneaking off somewhere to mis-behave! We WERE, but who cares! Ha, ha!

DH got me up at 6:00 this morning and decided we would go to the Indian Lodge for breakfast. We had not been there in a while. They have freshened up their decor and they had a lovely buffett. Then I went to the broom shop and spent 5 hours cleaning choya for broom handles and varnishing also. Think I will get in the shower and sit in my chair and look at my new Taste of Home.

Great Nephew is stabelizing but not there yet. They need to do surgery on his broken leg and ankle. Praying he does not get an infection or pnemonia .

Oh the shopping now is horrendous, I never ever liked to shop--and I don't buy like I used to so my DDs do it for me--yrs ago my Mom and sister did, that's how much I hate it. But I love the Holidays especially Christmas--that's my fav. always has been even when I used to have it for years I just would get so excited and I still do, I love all the lights and the tree and we celebrate one Christmas Eve and Christmas day a lot of family and so much fun and I don't even want a gift anymore, I did when I was a kid--altho then it was what was needed, not what u wanted hahaha--anyway Thanksgiving is different to me I go where I feel like. My SIL wants to just stay home cz he has to get up the next day at 3AM but he loves to cook Turkey and everything so there are leftovers and anyone who wants to come it's always fine and he knows I don't like Turkey so he always makes a ham too-- I'll decide when it gets closer to the day.

Jackie when did u'r DH have that surgery, it seems like just a few days ago, and staples and I forgot about staples, I think they are more aggravating. Jackie even tho we're in the state--no Chevy, Jackie does not have insanity----our weather is always different it's been raining here all day and I really haven't watched the weather to see what else is coming, it's chilly and obviously SANDRA'S winter is over ours hasn't even begun.

Yes! An Electro cardiologist is a card set that is electric. It's like Solitaire, only the cards have little electro-magnetic chips that automatically sort themselves out, and you win every time.! So Bonnets is going to go play cards.... probably..... unless I am wrong?

Just have to chime in about "getting what we needed" for Christmas. My Mother used to wrap each one of a pair of socks in separate packages so we'd have more to open. And we got oranges and ribbon candy and sometimes a few clothes and maybe ONE toy. Now it's - if you no longer believe in Santa Claus you'll be getting socks & underwear.

Bonnets..... Have they put a "Holter" monitor on you? Ar the 7 day event monitor? I'll bet they have.

Could it have anything to do with stress? I know my problems were only temporary, but I went through a lot of tests also, after my Mom passed away, then my Dad a year later.... Then the coffee and overwhelming feelings of depression... It just starts things going that you can't control!

My heart would just have fits of pounding, or fluttering, and I would get soooooo light-headed I thought I would pass out. First time was driving over the SFOB Bridge, with my drunk Dad and my Grand-son in the car... I had to just hold on and pray!

I later had the tread-mill test.... They could NOT find anything unusual, and eventually it all cleared up! THAT was a miracle... but that's why I thought it was stress.

Let us know what they say, okay? Have they ever talked about a pace-maker? Is your condition something that holds you back? I mean do you have to take medication for it? Just asking, because DH has had a pace-maker for over 12 years now... His problem was completely different though.... But it took over for his heart, when it wasn't doing it's job.

Minus! Good Morning! Did you guys ever open a present to see what it was, and then wrap it back up again? My Brother and I did that! I remember doing THAT, but don't remember ANYthing we got!

I remember one Birthday when I was little, my folks gave me a yellow rubber bathing cap! Man, I'll just say it was NOT the cutest thing I have ever seen... but that's all they could afford...Winking

Miss Cammi! WHAT are you doing up so early? I mean you should be in bed with Katie-cat, getting your beauty sleep....Ha! And so you can figure out how that phone works! DID you SEE on TV those new phones that look like a little "tablet" that sits beside you, and you just talk to that "box"????? Is that for real? I mean so much for a "private conversation!" And do you know if any of your hand-held phones have technology that lets you see each other while talking? I know about sending the videos, but do they stream WHILE talking?

THAT way, you could text and talk and see all that right before you get in a wreck! That gal WAS texting on her phone, right before she ran into us that day. They SHOULD have some sort of built in safety device that includes a hammer in the phone, that automatically hits you on the head when you try and drive and text.

Wow --- what a eye-opener Chevy. I do have just the old fashioned cell phone which you may or may not be able to text on.....I don't know and really don't care. I've reached the zenith I think of what I wish to do electronically. It just does not seem very important to me. If my cell rings ( very seldom ) when I'm in the car I usually can't get it out of my purse fast enough to answer anyway............so just pull over and re-dial whomever had the audacity to call me while I'm trying to drive my car.

I'm always griping to Dh --- though I admit once or twice my phone has come in handy.....that things were better when we got all our calls....when we were home by "regular" phone. I still have a huge preference for it as often you are a party to lots of "phone" conversations now and I don't actually like that and I certainly don't like that many strangers may be a party to mine. Just funny that way I guess.

Anyway.....I don't think normal as it were conversations, are worth any of the potential grief that can happen.

Windy with bad weather on the way here. Our temps are warm and wondrous but a big cold front pushing at us from the west and tornadoes are predicted. What an odd November -- just before Thanksgiving event. I'm not looking forward, but will be home here with Dh.....snuggled in. If we don't have tornadoes....then there is the possibility of straight-line winds and they too are very, very damaging. Sigh !!!! Just will have to hole up and see how it goes.

This should bring every snuggle leaf left off our trees so hopefully only one more Fall cleaning will be needed. There is something good then. Will be nice to have all that over.

I hope you all have as un-eventful -- even nice weather day today.

    Peace and love

    Jackie
