    Had annual mammo since 35

Dx at 46 I found a large dimple in the left breast.

Long story  if they would of done an u.s. 4 years earlier they would of found it. But thanks to the dr. I ended up with 33 positive lymph nodes,

You know i can't believe how relatively young everyone here seems to have been at diagnosis and with mets, expecially considering that only about 20% of people diagnosed with breast cancer are under 45. I was 41 with original stage 3 diagnosis; and 42 when diagnosed with bone mets (i am now 43). I wonder if it is down to the profile of people online often tending to be younger or if it is that the disease in younger people tends to be more aggressive?

    Just a thought!

I was 35. My identical twin was 36. We both have the BRCA1 GENE. I am trying to talk my 18 year old daughter into getting tested but she wants nothing to do with it.

I am 49 at dx but I am going to talk to my 23yr daughter to take the Brac test.Better to know ahead and avoid getting it. On the otherhand I don,t want her to live in fear of getting it.I guess I will let her decide what to do.

Found on yearly mammogram - age 48

    Dense breast, BRCA2+

My daughter and 2 nieces have testesd positive for BRCA2 also.  The girls are under surveillance and will start having mammograms at age 25-30.  My oldest niece (age 27) has already had a mammogram.

47 yrs old. But I was a bad girl, and had never had a mammo...or did self exam...so they think since my tumor was on the large side...it was there for awhile.

I was 53 and dx Stage 4 with mets to bone.  Implants prevented mammography detection. Had pain shooting thru left breast for about 3 yrs prior to dx and all tests came back negative for Ca.  Also had cardiac workup to rule out heart problems but that was okay.  Listen to your body and insist that further tests be done if your instincts tell you something is wrong.

Right side: 34, almost 35, found lump myself, hadn't had a mammo yet

Left side: 51, almost 52, found lump myself again (Like Deak95, both of my dx's were the same time of year, almost to the day)

Now 57, so far no mets, keeping fingers crossed

My daughter, age 30, finally convinced her insurance company to pay for her first mammo. Thankfully, it was clear. Smile

39, although i had been asking for nine years, since nursing my first child, about a lump in my breast.  when someone finally mammogrammed it, they said they saw nothing.  nine years later, living in another city, that lump began to grow.  it was cancer with micrometastasis to 3 nodes.  i now am metatstatic to bones and liver and had another breast cancer in 2005.  my mom had breast cancer at 40 and is still around at 84 with no adjuvant treatment.  my 21 year old daughter thinks about it constantly.  how soon is too soon to start checking??
