I have a brother that is 9 years older than me.  He used to put me on his shoulders and we would go to the side ditch and pick raspberries.  Sometimes he would take me to a corn field and we would pick a couple of ears, husk it and then eat it.  It was field corn before it got hard.

Waiting for my uncle G to return from Viet Nam. Mom took us out of school and Dad stayed home from work that day. The whole family (grandma, grandpa, 6 aunts and uncles and their families) waited at the airport for Uncle G's plane to land then we all stopped at the grocery store to buy stuff for Lunch. We had Thanksgiving Dinner in May of Bologna sandwiches, chips and fruit because Uncle G was finally home. He just told my dad a story of his tour last month that he hadn't told before.

As part of a college class my sister was taking for 'early childhood development', she wrote a children's story about the day my Uncle came home from war, included photos of that day and child like drawings of the activities surrounding that day. My uncle cried when he got a copy of her book.

My favorite memory was sitting in my fathers Library reading and later talking with him about books.

Thanks to him I am never alone ,because I love to read. The large home is gone like my father, but his books are with me.

When I was a teenager, my dad was retired.  (He was 44 when I was born).  He would fix me breakfast and I would sit on the floor and talk with him.
