Nordy,  You're a real beauty!!!  One needs their beauty sleep.   Maybe you were hitting that Onc-ball to much!! LOL.  No, really I think it is great to give us newbies the whole picture. I have learned a lot of medical terms I didn't know before and seeing is believing.  Now, send us the real post, post, post-op picture......minus butt drains; I don't need to see those.

Melanie, wow playing golf at how many weeks Post-op?  Good for you.  I know what you mean about the girls getting in the way when playing golf.  Do you hold your arms above the boobs, below the boobs, or just squeeze them together??    I'm asking for less this time around. Linda

OK, Here's the deal....Nordy you are so pretty...yes, you look passed out, hungover, drunk...actually drugged and post op, but you're obviously a very pretty young woman...and warrior....Gosh I feel so homely!  except in the breasts !  kidding...a little.  I have been laughing and laughing, again and again!

Melanie, you GO girl!  I keep looking at the set of clubs one of my sisters(who had the nasty divorce) DUMPED off....and thinking....hmmmmm...........

OK, Nordy, if I don't get to ski in March in Utah w/ my friend Melinda....how long does the ski season last up there?  and I might be inviting myself up......yes I DO have a lot of nerve!  I didn't get to go last year....actually last time I went I was doing all blues(I know-relative) and ready to try moguls w/ an instructor. I only learned to ski at 39......I'm thinking I'll have to start over...BUT...I LIKE having something to work toward.........

Stephanie, glad your sweet son is w/ his mommy....poor kid!  Know you'll keep him on the mend!

    xoxo,jennifer

Nordy, that post-op photo brings back memories! Mercy, I had 6 drains, 2 onq balls and the doppler wires. Sent a pic to my hubby who swore I was a suicide bomber! I love that you posted your pic!

SPANX QUESTION-- ok, ladies...is that sizing chart off the wall wrong or what????? I ordered the power panty. I've been wearing bike shorts (Dr S approved) but felt I needed a tiny bit more compression, especially on my lower back. (Humped area from where left and right upper hip was taken). I do confess to not liking being squeezed tight, but this is CRAZY. According to the chart, I would wear a "B". I'm 5'4', 135 pounds (still, lol, that 15 pounds I gained previous to surgery is still here), and wear about a size 8 bottom. Knowing I don't like the stuffed sausage feeling, I skipped over the B and ordered C and D. (Spanx assured me I could return them) The D was about the size of my 8 year old's tights. I DID get it on, but I was still not comfortable with the squeeze. (And I have a flat stomach from surgery 2, stacked diep already, without the garment) I went back and ordered size E! Chart says 205-250 pounds!!!!! I've got them on and I can live with it. Are they loose? NO WAY.

Does anyone actually squeeze themselves into these things, at the correct size or even one larger? I'm wearing three sizes larger, but I CAN breath. Only down side, the waist is too high and I have to fold it down.

Would love to hear Spanx experiences from you ladies, or alternatives.

OK, Carolynn,  I can't even imagine trying to pull up Spanx after Stage I surgery, or any surgery for that matter.......to me it would be like vacuuming.......A BIG NO NO!  Now I don't have stage I until next month, but I bought some Spanx to wear under my dress for my daughters wedding.....Now, I want to tell you it took two of her bridesmaids to help me pull them up!  I don't get those things.  Like to hear what Spanx has to say if you contact them.  Maybe others can give you their experience with them, but that was mine.  I have the high waisted kind that come up under your boobs and have a high leg.  Linda

    Warrior, LOVE THE CLEAVAGE!!! :)

I got the spanx warrior recommended. It was not in the "intimates" in Nordstroms, it was wih "Hosiery" - It was called "Higher Power" (reminded me of God! LOL)... And it is not as heavy duty. I am keeping for Phase II. The things are tight tight tight - tight enough for me!!

    Spring,

How do they lower your tummy incision?  Mine is high too.  I was wondering what was involved. Also do you know if it is done under general or local anestesia.

Can you put me in for stage 2 on December 14 with Dr. Allen in NYC.

Jen - you are so invited to come up and ski. I don't know how long the season is... but I am buying a 10 punch pass. I figure with all the surgical stuff and running around w/kids, I will be lucky to get 10 times. No worries about skiing blues - I haven't been skiing for a couple of years now and this year I expect to spend at least half days on the bunny slope w/my girls. I consider two old enough to learn to ski, so intend to teach my girls. I took my oldest before she was even two... She skiied w/me for 2 hours then hung with my husband for another 2, then I took her and he went skiing. She had stomach virus but had been such a trouper all morning. Sure enough when I was with her, it hit again and she threw up all over the table on the outdoor deck and in the snow... LOL.  oops

Linda - that wasn't supposed to scare you either!!! Glad it didn't. I will put up a much better photo tomorrow... Maybe I ought to get my hubby to take a nice cleavage shot like Warriors and we can all fill this site up with cleavage pics!!!

Drain, drain, go away, come again no other day.... sigh...

    Have a great Sunday!

Thanks for the beautiful comments... LOL...

Nordy...loving the pic!! Brings back memories from a short 6 wks ago! lol  You are so funny!

Yes, girls that is my NOLA cleavage compliments of Massey and Dellacroce!! I did NOT wear my shirt THAT low when I went out! lol It was more for pics. And to think I was lopsided when I went there and came back with these babies...so worth it!!

The Spanx I have is in the hoisery dept...higher pwr, as Springtime mentioned. Spring-do you feel compressed in them? any difficulty with them?? Is that only two levels of compression with these?? I thought all spanx were in one dept at Nordstrom....hmmmmmm Another helpful hint with compression, put a gauze between you and the compression where the seam lies so it does impress into your skin.

Iamc-what was the name of your spanx did you buy?

Is there any hotel in December in NOLA that is sporting great rates?? Spring and I had Montelone for 79 in Sept..that was sweet! Beverly...hope you are feeling good, sista!!

Hey Warrior, good point. Mine were called Power Panties, but they are more like a short. Going to look at Higher Power. If those are the ones that come up under the bust, I know I can't wear them...it smothers me. (quirk)

I booked my flight today for December...would love to hear of some good hotel deals. I see Homewood and Monteleone mentioned here a lot. What are those places like? I stayed in a boutique hotel for stage one, but I swear, it was so dark in there. I like light! What are your favorite hotels ladies, and why?

    Greetings

I am having bilatral sgaps with Jaime Flores at hopkins in Janaury, but am visiting this thread because it is great. I thought I would interject a little humor on this subject--due to the tattoo on my butt.

I am one of the least spontaneous people you will ever meet. Nevertheless, for reasons I cannot today articulate, one day 7 or 8 years ago, on the way home from getting my hair cut, I got a tattoo of a butterfly on my buttock (my husband had gotten a tattoo on his arm a few years earlier). I bascially never see the tattoo, and hardly every thought about it, unitl I decided to get an sgap and all of a sudden was facing having my butterfly move to my breast, where I would need to see it every day. I was happy to learn last week that the butterfly will stay where it is, on my butt. As it is, I am 10 lbs heavier than when I got the tattoo so the butterfly has already "spread its wings."

Hope you all are well. My sugery is scheduled for Jan 4. I recently participated in the 3 day 60 mile breast cancer walk, for the second year. I have many reasons for participating, but perhaps the biggest is to tell people that I am 20 years out. Let us all be 20 years out some day.

    regards

    margit

I've stayed at the Marriott on Canal Street a few times now, and if you can get a top floor corner room overlooking the river and the French Quarter, the views are spectacular.  They have a new gym with new equipment, and when you step outside, you turn the corner and are in the French Quarter.  Cross the street and hop on the streetcar.  Turn left and the river is a couple of blocks away.  We are paying $139 later this week.

The Monteleone is booked already?  Well hell!!!  I haven't booked our rooms yet, because my boss (bless him) offered to buy our plane tickets with his miles and hasn't yet.  ACK!  There are TONS of places to stay in the Quarter though, and since I am there for Stage 3, no worries on recovery or post op!!

You ladies are looking AMAZING!!!  Isn't it aweosme having cleavage and boobs that jiggle?  I LOVE JIGGLY BOOBS!!! LOL!!!

Old habits are hard to break.  I have been hiding my scars and been ashamed of them for 17 long years.  I vowed after seeing my gorgeous breasts, that I wouldn't hide anymore or be ashamed.  I have lots of scarring because of delayed recon and I don't scar well anyway.  I have been struggling with this.  One of my customers said, "They aren't scars, they are beauty marks"...LOVED IT!!  Well yesterday I was participating in a fundraiser for our local soroptomist club where you had to do a mini triatholon...stride, ride and splash.  I was changing into my swim suit and it was SO hard not to go change in the bathroom stall.  UGH.  I guess I have some reprogramming of my brain to do!!!  Anyone else feel this way?

Yes, Passion Parties is my direct sales business and I am swamped!!!!  I only have 2 open dates before Christmas.  This month is my 5 year anniversary.  I absolutely love it!  Our company motto is about women empowering women, and I am blessed to get to educate and enlighten hundreds of women every single year.  I also get to use my parties as a platform to talk about being diagnosed at 21 years old and the importance of self exam, knowing your body and being your own health advocate.  I am truly blessed to do something that I love.

Here's the link to my website for anyone that is interested.  It's for ADULT EYES ONLY!   LOL!   We have AMAZING lube...Ph balanced, long lasting, non sticky, non staining, water based.  Adn for those of you sufferering from low libido, please check out our Pure Satisfaction Gel.  This is like viagra for women, but all natural and aloe vera based.  If there is somethign you want, email me!  You can buy anything from me AT MY COST!!!   I have no desire to make any $$ off my BC sisters!!!

Tricia - I am loving your pic!!! I think I will be changing mine tomorrow... Its funny, but enough of the sick look! I looked at your website the last time you had sent me an email when I was sending everything I could find about reconstruction and insurance for you. I ought to let my husband look there, you would have an order in about an hour... heehee. Girl, I hear you on the changing room stuff. It has been sooooo long since I have changed in public. It is just now that I even like running around my house naked again!!! (My poor kids are going to think it is normal... and this is only after stage 1!)

Okay, I really don't want to miss the party in NO in Dec... maybe I should just fly down to meet everyone! But my husband will also be away, so I would have to bring my kids (my sis-in-law is reserved for watching them for surgeries - I don't want to wear her out)... LOL... and as cute as they are, that just wouldn't be relaxing for anyone!!!

We have reservations at the Clarion Boutique.  http://www.clarionhotel.com/ It is about 3 blocks from St. Charles Hospital.  We stayed there for part of Stage 1 and it was convenient and nice.  There is a Hematology convention in NOLA Dec 4 - 8 so rooms are scarce and pricey.  Book soon if you haven't already.

Geez! I don't check this site for two days and there are like 3 more pages here! Yep, Nordy, your picture is definitely a winner! And Warrior, your cleavage is amazing!!!

I have always liked staying at Place d'Armes, only about a block away from Jackson Square. It's one of the hotels listed on the Center's site. MomsDaughter had a bad experience there, tho, with a rodent... But in the four stays we've had there, we've had no negative experiences. I'm really bummed we were only able to get to stay there 2 nites this trip, as it was all booked up. Lovely, lovely courtyards and nice continental breakfast.

Okay, I'm going to betray my ignorance here, but why all the talk about Spanx? I'm assuming its compression garments? But the Center gives you those, and they zip and hook up on both sides, so no need to squirm into them.

Hey Margitn,  Thanks for stopping in and visiting this thread!  Aren't these ladies hilarious?  Such a great camaraderie among them.  Great incite on everything.  I love, love, love your butterfly story.  How cute.  My daughter participated in the bc 3-day in Chicago.  It made me so proud.  It isn't just the 60 miles you walk but also the money you have to raise $2,300!!  Good for you.  Proud of you too.  I have chaired the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure  in my community for 4 years. A great organization!  Tricia, I think it is so funny that you are so shy about your body and you sell SEX!!  By the way, you look great in your picture (what I could see of it).  Gee, I wish you could enlarge the avatars to see them better!  Hugs, Linda

Linda~ I DON'T sell sex.  Not al all. Things that help a women get in touch with her sensuality and enhance her relationship are completely different then selling sex itself. One of the many misconceptions that people have about Passion Parties.   And I'm not 'shy', about my body...I spend years being ASHAMED of my scars.  BIG difference.  HUGE difference.  When you are 21 and have horrible scarred up lumps in place of your breasts, it messes with your pysche.

Nordy~I SO wish you were going to be there in December.  I have to get over to Portland and meet you and see Carol.  I just don't know if I'll be able to do it before the snow flies.  I go to Seattle next month to see the genetic doc. I wish it was Portland instead!!!

Tricia - I have family in North Bend - right off of 90, so if you are driving through, I can try to meet you for lunch or something in one direction or the other. This way, maybe my family could even watch the girls! If you need to do some shopping, the outlets are right there and we could meet up and do that - totally not out of your way, since you would likely be taking that route anyway (unless you are flying) - and I always like to visit family. I prefer that over trying to find you in Seattle - city of crazy streets and no parking... Is your geneticist at UW? Let me know - I can PM you my number! PS - I sent  you a PM... Tongue out

Well.....it wasn't the rodent so much!  It was being all excited about taking my daughter out for a really nice dinner the night before surgery (since I wasn't going to want to dress up over a bra-to-knee girdle after!) and being trapped in the hotel all evening due to flooding after an hour of rain earlier.  The dinner from the vending machine was just not the same.  I don't consider a visiting rat to be as exciting as a ghost sighting, and I slept just fine that night despite not knowing where he went.

Hey, have any of you ever run barefoot on a treadmill?  My DH picked one up at a yard sale the this weekend and I tried it out tonight.  The instructions do not warn that it will give you blisters on the bottoms of your toes.  Yes, I have blisters on my toes now.  Cry

Oh, gosh Tricia, I hope I didn't offend you.  I didn't mean too or mean it that way at all!  Honest.  You sure had it rough at such an early age.  You are one heck of a Survivor!!  I know you don't sell sex, it was just all in jest!  I'm sure you help many women with getting in touch with their sensuality.....we can all use a little of that.  Are we still friends?Embarassed  Linda
