Oh, holy crap michele!! That's just insane. Stay warm!!
0 -
OH my that's a lot of snow. Stay warm!
0 -
You could have an avalanche in your own front yard! And who has to shovel all that snow?
I'll take a hurricane any day
0 -
It's in the low 60's here, and the sun was out today. OK, Michelle, I'm going out on the front porch to start fanning it all north. Until it gets there, find some liquor and a warm blanket!
0 -
Better make it an electric blanket! And a hot toddy!
0 -
High 50s & BEAUTIFUL blue sky & sun today! It was gorgeous!
0 -
it has warmed up here, only -10 i think...not to bad. Must be all the hot air meg is sending my way. Thanks.

Eph,
Is Medford along the coast? Does all of Oregon have drizzly weather a lot of the time?
Michele,
Now you will owe Meg some cool air this summer!
Pam

Medford is inland. I'm not sure how far it is by crow fly, but it takes about 2.5 hrs to drive there, because we have to drive north, then west, then south, then west, then north!!! And no-southern oregon is not drizzly at all, that's more mid-northern Oregon. & eastern Oregon is desert-y. Southern Oregon is a definite 4 season zone, but we rarely get snow on the valley floor, where I am. It can get blazing hot in summer, although the last couple years haven't been too bad (or my memory is shot; speaking of-here ya go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzSaoN2LdfU)

Thanks, Eph... It's a shame I know so little about the NW. People say Oregon is beautiful. Maybe I'll see it someday.

Good evening ladies. I am finally back from my vacation. We had a wonderful time. It was cold, woke up to several 18 degree mornings, but usually warmed up in the day. When we were in Arizona, it would warm up into the 60s so we would need just a long sleeve shirt. Today as we drove back into Texas, it was about 73 and should be this way for several more days, then a cold front is moving in.
Welcome to the group Peg, we are glad to have you. Sounds like you have been through a lot, maybe soon you will be able to relax. I can say that, only because I haven't had any thing to scare me.
Pam, good to hear from you and congrats on reaching the 2 year mark. I am only 6 months away and am still on 3 month checkups, but this next visit is a 4 month, only because I am due for my mammo and bone scan and she wants me to get all that before she sees me again.
Michele, I don't know how you do it. I could not stand that cold. My blood is too thin. Its like being in the desert and saying it is hot, but it is a dry heat. It is still blazing hot. Same with the cold, it is still on the wrong side of the 0.
Good to hear from everyone and all you gals that are having all this winter weather try to stay warm.

OMG Michele that is a lot of SNOW!!! I don't know what else to say... geez! I guess that is normal for you and like you said you get use to it. I definitely love winter and probably would love to live in a place that got that much snow all the time. But I know most of my friends would not. haha!!
Juanelle so glad to see that you made it back safe and sound and had a great time with your sisters. Family time is always fun and sisters and brothers make it even more special.
Pam enjoy your winter warmth... LOL I think we are suppose to get up to 65 today here in North Alabama, but old man winter is just teasing us we will be back into the low 20's to 40's by mid week.
Have a great weekend everyone! I have got to go buy some groceries. I do so hate grocery shopping. Ugggh!!

I just had my 6 month check up and I havent had a period since september, I also had my yearly gyno appt same day and dr just called and wants me to either go on progesterin(sp?) to make me have a period or to come in for a biopsy of my uterus. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I need some input on what to do. Thanks Jamie
0 -
Get a new Dr. Your DX says you were Estrogen and Proestrogen positive. Did you do chemo and or you taking Tamoxofin or an AI inhibitor? They can all cause you not to have your period. Grant it a biopsy would not hurt but I would not take anything to bring it on.
0 -
Kitty, no i didnt have chemo, lumpectomy and rads with 5 years of tamoxifin. I was thinking of doing the biopsy but wasnt sure about the other, thanks for the advise, means a lot.

Dualgate, I was wondering how old are you...Perhaps it is just that you are menopausal... I too saw that you are ER+/PR+. So am I, and my onc says that it is good that my periods are gone. In fact if they come back she will put me on injections to stop them.
0 -
Hi Dualgate - you might consider getting a second opinion. It always seems to help when there isn't a clear answer. And you're worth it.
Michele - great photo. You are looking fabulous these days!

Thanks Meg...I love my short hair. always wanted to go that short, but was never brave enough to try...Thanks to chemo, I was able to give it a try. Thanks chemo. Only one of the wonderful things that came out of chemo..

micheleboots-same here about the short hair. I wish the chemo curl had stuck around but it's gone0
-
I too liked my short hair in my picture it is now longer and I don't really like it..... but after having no hair I feel the need to let it grow longer ~ weird !
Michele ~ I do love the hair on YOU !
0 -
You all with your short hair are the cutest! And you look so young. As a naturally curly top (make that naturally frizzy) I envy the straight hair styles. Before curling irons, straightening devices and blow dryers, I used to iron my hair. Actually, it takes two so I had a girlfriend iron my hair. I would look like a blond Cher until I walked outside into the Florida humidity. It did not last all the way to the school bus stop.

Pam, that makes a good visual...long and straight, then poof curly...

michele, I also think you look good with short hair. I have decided to keep mine short also. I would have never gone this short without some help. I have just gotten lazy as I have gotten older and the short style is so easy to take care of.
pam, I also ironed my hair and did everything I could to keep my hair from being frizzy. Now they all these great products, but long hair is still work. I am just not willing to do it now. I had rather get that extra 30 minutes of sleep in the morning.
Alicia, you are beautiful with long or short hair. Ok you are just beautiful.
Mary, don't you just love this cold weather? I am so ready for spring.
Eph3_12, I didn't let mine get long enough to curl the first year, so I think that phase has also passed for me.
0 -
One-L, is Whitney in the dry part of Texas or the humid part? If you were over around Houston your ironed hair probably did not last any longer than mine! The one good thing about getting older is that we seem to accept those things about ourselves that we were always trying to change when we were younger. Wish I had back all the time I spent on my hair during my lifetime! I have tried some of the great new "products" and they work pretty good BUT If I use them I have to wash my hair every day. Otherwise my hair feels gummy. And much as I complain about my curly hair, I don't know what to do with my hair if it is straight! Curls hide a lot of uneven haircuts
Alicia, are you snowbound? Sure hope you have not lost power! The pictures we see on TV are unbelievable! Have you seen the movie The Day After Tomorrow? This would be a great time to cuddle up and watch it. Well, it might worry younger kids. I remember how the apocalyptic nuclear war movies used to give me bad dreams growing up.
To all of our Canadian sisters... our weather coverage does not even mention Canada!!! It's as if you fall off the edge of the earth if you drive north of NY, Vermont or NH. Are you getting some of these storms systems? Maybe your winters are rough and everyone knows it so there is no news to report.
The cyclone in Australia is tragic. Queensland has really had a rough time. DH is from Oklahoma and to him a cyclone is a tornado but must be a cyclone is a hurricane. I never knew hurricanes hit Australia. Is this unusual? The global nature of our news is surely educating.
At least the weather coverage on the news is politically neutral. I can watch the Weather Channel and the Food Channel ad infinitum. And I can read breastcancer.com unendingly. Thanks for distracting me from the greater issues of the world.

Hi from Toronto, Canada. We got the storm but far less snow than anticipated - only about 20 cm total. Schools were closed here but a lot of people wondered why.
We have friends in Queensland. Lucky, they're between where all the floods hit, and yesterday's cyclone. Yes, a cyclone is a hurricane, and Australia does get its fair share. However, this year's catastrophic weather events are blamed on unusually warm Pacific waters.

Luah,
Thanks for letting us know that life goes on in Canada. I suppose you all are so accustomed to cold weather that life does not come to a complete halt when a storm blows through.
We have company coming so I need to do some work around the house. And I am making a new recipe for Chicken a la King. DD and SIL were in NYC before Christmas. They went to The Four Seasons and had a signature dish, Chicken A La King. She raved about it (and also the price - $600.00 for dinner for four!). My recipe calls for serving it on a crisp waffle but I am going with buttermilk biscuits. How bad could that be!?
Stay warm everyone.

Pam, my grandmother used to make Chicken a la King all the time - it is one of my favorite comfort foods! A great way to use up leftover chicken. I wonder if the Four Seasons uses leftover chicken? Haha! Mimi made it on toast triangles, and it was delicious.
It's quite cold here in TX, and they are actually forecasting snow for this evening! Possibly an inch or two. Schools may close tomorrow, can you believe it? Being a PA native, it's kind of funny to think that an inch of snow is causing this much hoopla. But, San Antonio doesn't have the necessary resources to deal with it (salt trucks, snowplows, etc.) so I guess that must be taken into account.
Hair - I had long, very straight hair my whole life until BC and chemo came around. I simply cannot figure out what to do with this hair I have now! Chemo curls seem to have gone away, but it's at a weird length right now, and sticks out over my ears like "wings". I guess I'll just have to grin and bear it until it gets longer!
Hugs to all...

Question to all 2009 BC Grads: I had a Diep for recon. I know that it sounds very vain considering I am alive and doing extremely well, but the scars bug me! They are completely flat and white (you cannot feel where before skin and transplant skin intersect) Does anyone know if you tan those area's if the scar tans or not? I have been very cautious thus far but starting to get curious....
0 -
chellie089, I am sorry but I don't know the answer to your question. You are not vain and sometimes we just want more than just being alive and that is part of the recovery.
Pam, I was raised in West Texas but now live in a humid region, but not as humid as Houston. I was always known for my hair. Red and Big. Now when I run into people that I have known for years, they do not recognize me because of my short hair and it now being gray. How did your chicken come out, it sounded good.
We had about 3 inches of snow last night. We haven't been above freezing since 2/1. I missed one day of work, because I live 50 miles from work and was not driving that far on ice. Thank goodness I don't work on Fridays or I would have missed again. Haven't done much today, cooked a little and did some laundry. Sort of a lazy day.
Take care everyone and have a good weekend.
