Good morning ladies! Wow what a couple of days!....and a few more big ones in front. YET, last night I returned to Catholic Bible study-AFTER having a meltdown w/ my instuctor on the phone. I am overwhelmed by the amount of (4) assignments I'm behind on. Had truly set aside wed and thursday to "get 'er done" and lo and behold......My sister Jean(who had DCIS 3.5 yrs ago...but post menopausal)......Long story guys.....just let me shorten to say I've had a strained/distant relationship w/ almost ALL my sibs......for the last couple years. At any rate Jean offered to come over and she has been following my caring bridge journal, etc....she's 58 now....yesterday her bday...I'm 13 yrs younger. We had the BEST day...so much fun...she took me to LE therapy, we went to lunch, we talked and talked, I showed her this website, gave her a copy of Kathy Steligo reconstruction guidebook that has helped me make SO many decisions.....It was all good...but I did NO bible study stuff...but that's OK. Yesterday, my disability did not go thru and was supposed to...I spent the entire day on the phone w/ the hartford, my workplace then had more technical issues signing up for 2010 benefits -deadline today ....so on the phone w/ the help desk. It was 4 pm and I called the instructor in "HELP" mode...how do I prioritize? Fortunately he was great! This is not for a grade BUT the assignments are pretty heavy duty....we have to sketch or get a floor plan re: the tabernacle....etc...we're in exodus reading about the Ark of The Covenenant......This truly is the basis for new testament too....as jesus becomes the covenant...This class is truly awesome. I highly recommend and I know it's offered online as well or thru some other places thru the US. So that's my story! I pray as well for all you and the lady who asked for our prayers...tell her to jump in! Laura so glad your resurrecting! Oh man I make it thru these days that are SO filled....seems I am busier not working than when I'm working! Unfortunately today I got sucked into an affidavit...employee issue-have to deal w/ that. But havign LE therapy and lunch w/ a girlfriend who was laid off.....she is an RN/JD-nurse lawyer who will let me pick her brain....Kathi is a BC survivor AND a catholic convert...we have A LOT to talk about.....AND of course I can't wait to compare recon! GOD is SO GOOD.
Lastly, I have the most beautiful book "Saints A year in Faith and Art": Today is St. John of Capistrano. I also have the Daily Catholic Bible(which is kinda difficult-BUT has a section of daily saint quotes):
"Jesus said, 'You are the light of the world." Now a light does not illuminate itself, but instead it diffuses its rays and shines all around upon everything that comes intoits view. So it must be with the glowing lives of upright and holy priests. By the brightness of their holiness they must bring light and serenity to all who gaze upon them" St. John of Capistrano
OK one more thing...I needed to hear this as I am working myself into a DITHER...A LOT of stuff about keeping holy the sabbath......I think a big MESSAGE for me! and I evr so gladly WILL!!!!
Next week I ahve to renew a credential that only comes up every 3 yrs, before 10/31.....I'll be able to! but the sabbath rest will help prepare me!
Have a wonderful day ladies,
love prayers, xoxo,jennifer

Jennifer....I am exhausted just reading about your schedule....how do you do it all?? Sending you prayers for a good Sabbath rest! Ha! Family relations can be so......interesting! Glad you were able to have a great day with your sister! Hope you have many more!!
On another note.....asking for prayers...my niece's best friend died this past week from BC at 38 with 3 young children....please lift up April Kruger's soul in your prayers today. She had many wonderful family members and friends who are truly hurting over this loss. May they all be comforted with the knowledge of an all merciful Father awaiting to bring us all home to Him....
Have a great and blessed day ladies...
God Bless

St. Peregrine, thank you for your intercession on our behalf. I pray for a cure for this dreadful disease that afflicts so many.
Special prayers for my father Jack who is currently hospitalized in serious condition with gallstones and other health issues and his wife Donna who recently had extremely invasive cancer surgery. Dear God, I pray my father will get well enough to have the surgery he desperately needs. Thank you Lord for blessing Donna with the ability to come home from the hospital yesterday. We are so grateful. I pray for their strength to heal and that my father will also be home again soon. And Lord, help me through this roller coaster ride of stress, lack of sleep, and pain from the reconstruction phase. Thank you for guiding and watching over us all. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

OK ladies, or course St. pergrine and Agatha please intercede. But I continue to love my book on saints:
Today Oct 24thSaint Anthony Mary Claret rather recent cannonized in 1950...He was born in 1807. Has an interesting story but I digress and will just include his quote from daily catholic Bible: "Christian perfection consists of three things: praying heroically, working heroically, and suffering heroically."
With that said I know all you laides acheiev christian perfection esp in the heroic prayers.....and the rest! However I cannot cannonize you(lol)...But love and pray for us all,

Hi Ladies, In a bit of a quandary...St Crispin is the saint for today in my saint/art book...but it doesn't really say what he did?
So the daily Catholic Bible has St. Basil the Great: " Of the dogmas and preaching preserved in the Church, some we possess from written teaching and others we receive from the tradition of the apostles, handed on to us in mystery. In respect to piety, both are of the same force."
Ok, if you're getting sick of me and my quotes I'll stop but I think they're sort of interesting and a nice catholic food for thought topic!
Have a wonderful sunday!xoxo,
jennifer

Missed posting a few days, there, but still praying daily.
St. Peregrine, please intercede on behalf of our special intentions...and for all at bc.org. Amen.

Jennifer...I love your posts!! Don't question them at all...pure gift! And prayers out for Jack and Donna.
I looked up St. Crispin and came up with this...
Saints Crispin and Crispinian are the Christian patron saints of cobblers, tanners, leather workers and, recently, of leather community (bikers or other people wearing leather regularly. Born to a noble Roman family in the 3rd century AD, Saints Crispin and Crispinian, twin brothers, fled persecution for their faith, winding up in Soissons, where they preached Christianity to the Gauls and made shoes by night. Their success attracted the ire of Rictus Varus, the governor of Belgic Gaul, who had them tortured and beheaded c. 286. In the 6th century, a church was built in their honour at Soissons. Crispian and Crispinian are also associated with the town of Faversham in Kent. In early 2007 the parish church of St Mary of Charity dedicated an altar to Crispin and Crispinian in the South aisle of the church.
The supposed tombs of the saints are in Rome in the church of San Lorenzo in Panisperna.
Amazing how heroic all the saints were...oh that we may share a bit of that, too!
Dawnbelle, holding you up in prayer for your surgery this week!!! Storming heaven for you!
Ladies, yesterday I traveled to Steubenville, Ohio to go to Christina Gallagher's House of Prayer. We joined others in the 3 Hour Novena to the Blessed Trinity. I offered all your intentions up in the PETITIONS box! God is so generous...I am sure we will all benefit from these graces!
God Bless!

Hello, I just saw this post for the first time.
Estepp, thanks for posting this. I am glad to read you are doing better.
Back when I was dx 2 1/2 yrs ago, my niece sent me a St. Peregrine holy card that is lamintated. I carry it in my purse always! Even when I change purses, that card goes with me no matter what. I pray that he helps each and every one of us here at BC.org.

Sisters in Christ,
Please pray for me. I am having a BI MX tomorrow. God has given me peace through this whole BC thing and now I need you to pray that I will be a good patient I DO NOT like to be helpless and I have a very hard time asking for help. Pray that I will be a good example of Christ during this time and will not be crabby to those who are helping me.
Please also pray that my husband will get some jobs to pay the bills while I am off work. He is a contractor and work has been very slow here in CA. I have been very stressed out about the surgery and finances but God is in charge and there is a reason for all of this.
Hugs to all,
Lynn

Praying for you Lynn. God will provide. He will give you comfort after your surgery, and he will provide the help you need, and the jobs for your husband. I HAD to take on the attitude and belief that all is possible in HIM, or I would never have made it through. It's funny....when we give all of our "worries" and concerns to Jesus...he takes such good care of us.
((((Lynn)))) and prayers for you.

DAWN AND LYNN
Ladies... we all need to pray hard for our sisters having surgery tomorrow. GOD BE WITH you and Bless you abundantly.
Father, Please be with these ladies. You love them SO much. Please keep them free of all cancer and free of all complications. Jesus, we all love You so much and we try hard to please You. We fall short... but You never do. Take care of our girls tomorrow. They need You and love you. I trust you 110%.. that You will see them through.
There is a great lady named Robin.. You know her..:)... please allow her procedure to go really well tomorrow.
I love You Father, thank you so much.

Father....you hold our sisters who head into surgery this week in the palms of your Hands. Please let them feel your strength and support as you bring them to wholeness in You.
Jesus...we trust in You....Amen

Thanks Laura for the welcome. I love your avatar!
Dear Lord, please watch over our sisters this week, as they undergo surgery. Please be with the doctors and guide their hands. In Jesus's name we pray. Amen.

Amen to all above.....Lynn, I just did it almost 5 weeks ago and it was truly one of the most liberating things ever! the amount of peace I now have is SUCH a gift. I was darn near neurotic for the almost year preceding - Ducts and lobules have not been my friends 2 of the last 3 yrs.......I struggled for a long time but am grateful I had time to pray and quite honestly be miserable because it helped catapult me into the Bi MX...I had recon and that is certainly your choice now or later...or as per your disease process, and your heart....AND it is mandated by federal law to be offered, provided w/ MX. God does work thru the hands of many a talented recon MD who are both artists and scientists. You probably know all this, and also that you can ask any of us for info. I am a knowledge is power controlling type myself, sometimes a blessing, sometimes a struggle!...a 20yr plus RN. YEAH...it's hard but agree w/ Lisa....Give all your worries to him.
Thanks Angel...esp for the St. Crispin and Crispinian factoids!
OK and Thanks ladies for helping/allowing me to start my day in prayer and w/ this interesting stuff! A ritual I've been trying and it seems to be working!
Oct 26th:per "Saints, a year in faith and Art" Saint Evaristus: pope and Martyr. Pope 97-105 succeeded Pope Clement I. Evaristus credited w/ division of Rome into 25 parishes and the designation of 7 deacons who were to follow the pope and transcribe his homilies. according to legend Evaristus died under Trajan. Evaristus- the name is of Greek origin and means "he that is welcome". His painting in the book is by Botticelli and is apparently in the Sistine chapel.
Now....from the Daily Catholic Bible Saint quote is from St Louis de Montfort: "What then, does God watch with pleasure and delight? The Christian who is fighting for Him against riches, against the world, against hell, against himself."
Love and payers to ALL and have a GREAT Monday ladies!
xoxo,jennifer

Tomorrow I get the results of my tests. Please say a prayer for me. I am so scared that my chest is hurting tonight.

Prayers for all BCO sisters. Gracie, getting test results is always so scary. I pray yours will come back negative. Lynn, I'm praying you'll find it easy to accept help during your recovery. I'm really independent, too, but learned quickly I was pretty helpless after my BMX. Take it easy and don't overdo it.
Jesus, I know You are walking with Gracie and holding her hand. Please comfort her and give her strength as she anticipates and gets her test results tomorrow. Dear God, I pray Lynn's BMX went well today. Hold her in Your arms and bless her with a quick recovery. May her husband find work and may Lynn find it easy to depend on others during her time of need. Lord, I know You are watching over my father Jack and his wife Donna who are both in the hospital. Please bless them with strength, healing, comfort, and recovery. Help me to accept Your will, and thank You for all You do. In Jesus name I pray, Amen

Praying that surgery went well for you Lynn and that pathology is in your favor. Also want to welcome another prayer warrior to this thread, Lisa welcome.
Blessings and peace to all my sisters. Continue praying for intersession of all the saints that we might all be given grace to indure all the tests, doctors appointments and the daily trials of life after breast cancer.
