Hey Gang,
Thanks for the prayers! Please keep them coming. Second surgery completed. It wasn't nearly as much fun as the first, but the doctor says that all went well. I think I allowed the nurses to give me too much pain medication though. I had to sleep it off. Good news, I'll never be a drug addict, I don't have the stomach for it. I've got to go back tomorrow morning to have the drain removed and we should have pathology back by Monday. Mike's sleeping off the stress of the day right now. Thanks again for all the prayers and love. It really does make this all much easier to bear. Thank you God for carrying the cross for me. Love & Thanks & Blessings, Ann0 -
Bless, so glad things went well! Sending you prayers and love!

Jeannine....I dunno nothin! I read and learn every am and hopefully give credit to the source. Maybe I do sound like a self appointed know it all tho!......eeks tell me if that starts to happen so that I can humble myself...noone likes a know it all! Have always been a generalist in nature, jack of many trades master of nothing......ADD? whatvever...enough about me! FOCUS!
Ok, ladies wanted to make you aware of a thread on BC.org started by moderators asking for stories from women under 50 who benefitted or whose lives would have been worse/nonexistent using these current proposed(?) guidelines we're all up in arms about.
Nov 18th: Saints a year in Faith and Art: saint Frediano of Lucca: Bishop, remains unclear whether Frigidian, Finnian, amd Frediano are one saint or 3. According to Gregory the Great, Frediano(despite the name) was an Irishman of royal lineage who became a monk and set off on a pilgrimage to Rome. A Frediano was certainly bishop of Lucca around 560, acclaimed by the clergy and people alike. he was active in his diocese in pastoral work and also as a hydraulic engineer, doing his utmost to bring an end to the nightmare floodings of Serchio River. according to legend, freiano used a rake to scratch a new, safer course for the river to follow, and it obeyed. He seems to have died around 588. Frediano is from the German and means 'bearer of peace'
anyone notice these saints die young? or perhaps sign of the times?
Quote from Daily Catholic Bible: "We cultivate a very small field for Christ, but we love it, knowing that God does not require great acheivements but a heart that holds back nothing for self. " St. Rose Phillipine Duchessne

Please pray for my friend Mary and her mom (also Mary). The daughter has just had a lumpectomy and will be starting chemo around Christmas. Her mom has had bladder cancer for about a year and it has spread to her liver. They have had to call in Hospice because she is dying. This is such a difficult time for their family. God please be with them and let them feel your presence.

Jesus,
In the name of your own Mother, we ask that you bless Mary and Mary so that they may never feel separated from your love and mercy. Help them as they traverse this difficult course in their lives, but let them never take their eyes off the prize....eternal life with you and the Holy Family....Amen.

Good morning ladies. I will have saintly info for you tomorrow ! Will be running thru shower and to work in a few.
My offering is my memory phrase from Exodus 4:12
"Go then! It is who will assisit you in speaking, and will teach you what it is you are to say."
We started w/ the Exodus because it is such a central theme: 'slavery to freedom'. And the torah is the basis for the NT and Jesus teachings/the Gospels. We'll do Deuteronomy next............This is such a gift as one of the big things about Deuteronomy is it preaches to the comfortable......whan we get too comfortable is when we start not needing God...that was the message from our lecture after the exam.
I am pretty sure I passed! Did better than I thought. thanks for the prayers. one of the smartest things I did was to met a couple other students at the student union an hour or so before class and we discussed and studied.....it ws their suggestions that saved me, lead me to correct answers on a couple sections about Pilgrim feasts and reviewing the sources of the Pentateuch Yahwist, Elohist and Priestly..........we were given verses and had to identify which voice it was an example of......Definitely passed objective portion we had a few short answers and they, a few were relaitively subjective.....we reviewed all. I did Waaaay better than I thought esp for missing 4 classes.
Work..............Mixed bag.....I will stay UPBEAT!......sometimes hard when there is such buzzkill around you...not talking about the patients............I digress.......It will be ...I will be OK, regardless. Thank you Lord for doing as God did for Moses above.......'assisting me in speaking'...or maybe even assisting me in shutting my mouth......and NO I do nOt think I'm Moses! Lol!
enough about me......prayers for Bettye and the Mary's and anyone else I'm leaving out....prayers and love to all of us.
have a wonderful friday all! TGIF!!!! woo hoo!
Lastly Saint Peregrine thank you for intercessory prayers....forgive me ladies....does Agatha provide intercessory prayers as well.......sorry trouble w/ the verbage here...teach me?

Ofering prayers for all my breast cancer sisters, especially for Mary and her mother Mary. Lord have mercy on the suffering that dear family is going threw, be present in their grief and give them strength to endure what is ahead. Send them special graces and put people in their paths that will be there to help them. Give them the reassurance you are close and will never leave them or forsake them. Father we have no answers to why people have to suffer as they do, but you did tell us we will have tribulations in this world but Father you have overcome this world and we ask in the name of JESUS for your will be done.
Thank you Lord for LMFSM. PRAISE GOD..
Ladies all I have to say about all that is going on in the world today, regarding the goverment becoming so big and now taking away the health rights of so many women. We are living in such evil times. COME LORD JESUS COME0 -

Laura,
Thanks, very sweet. My sleep wake pattern is major jacked up! actually has been since I came home. Could be meds, or hormonal? doesn't matter when I can't sleep I just get up and DO something. If not working I take a nap in the afternoon! eeks! How embarressing but this time of year So very nice! By nature I love going to bed early 8 or 9...embarressing but a lifelong thing...family loves to give me grief over. Has caused an issue more than once w/ people whom I date as well as other friends, etc. I've also always been an early riser. VERY much a morning person as was my dear dad. I don't have children so guess I do have a bit more time/energy. Love them work w/ them and it's ok..A LOT of grieving over the whole 'I'll never be a mother or grandparent" this last spring when I started Tamox...but doing Sooo much better now! I do love borrowing my nieces nephews(there are 33 last count!), friends kids and then RETURNING when I'm done!...works out well for many!
Sheesh Laura you look not a day over 25 in your pic! You have a heavy schedule. I genuinely feel like I'm playing catch up on Catholicism and feel sort of urgency......to learn more, but it truly is a pleasure. I think the word 'intercessory' was what was confusing me...BUT WOW has the vocab ever grown since this CBS started! This class does take more time and study than I thought but I am loving it, just overwhelmed at times(mostly after sept surgery and all).
Anyhoo...............
November 21 Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary...Lovely artwork by Titian in this book Saints a Year in Faith and Art:
"According to the Protevangelium of James as well as The Golden Legend, Mary was presented in the Temple at the age of three. This feast came into being with the dedication of the New Church of Saint mary in Jerusalem in 543 and has been celebrated in the East since the 6th century. It was introduced to the West only in the 14th century; it has been preserved as a memorial in the new calendar. In art, the scens shows Mary as a child climbing the steps of the Temple and being welcomed by the priest."
ok, more about the Art than the saint today....... or is it?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presentation_of_Mary check this out...the second one is in my book!
And from the Daily Catholic Bible todays quote is from St. Bernard of Clairvaux: " It was fitting for the Queen of virgins, by a singular privilege of sanctity, to lead a life entirely free from sin, so that while she ministered to the Destroyer of death and sin, she should obtain the gift of life and righteousness for all."
Just wanted to let you all know I read and tped all this AFTER I made all the comments above about motherhood or lack thereof.....No not always about me but...........just sort of funny, or wonderful!
Love and prayers, Jeannine thinking of you love!
Saints Perregrine and Agatha please continue w/ your intercessory prayers. We SOOO appreciate them.
Have a wonderful Saturday ladies.

I'm officially on vacation until December 1! My biggest hurdle now is to stay away from my office email. I think I'll add that to my novena, lol. Lord, give me strength. I will have to check it for one important message, but I won't get into all the others.
Continuing the novena...St. Peregrine, please intercede on behalf of our special intentions, Bette, Ann, two Mary's...and for all at bc.org. Amen.

Hey Nance, just tell yourself that checking in on us is much more fun than checking work email! I mean, are they as fun? Are they as loving? Do they care about you like we do? LOL

I just played a Saturday Mass for a priest (very conservative) who sings in Latin.. it went pretty well. It's nice to hear.
0 -
Nancy congrats! and stay awaaaaay from work e-mail...it will still be there when you return...mine was 2 mos later! LOL! Uggh still wading thru!
Apple that is cool. I went to my first tridentine mass in Nola when I went for consult in august. It was a blast from the past. Loved all except when the priest sang the gospel.....just had a very hard time 'getting' the message.
So I watched the first half of Ten Commandments and already am very aware it is the King James version. But still it is very good, esp considering done in 1956. There is a commentary version on my 50th anniversary edition that is really very informative. Charleton Heston was quite the hottie! Learned he was not the original pick for the part, mostly due to his age but actually went to Cecil B DeMille and had taken Michelangelo's Moses(the one w/ horns) and sort of superimposed his own photo w/ longer hair, etc, etc and this sold Cecil B DeMille because he so resembled the work of art. Anyhoo....Soooo glad I'm doing all this study BEFORE going to Rome, Italy...Heck Egypt! Learning Sooo much about ancient history. people who think they can understand it w/o the religious influence are missing the WHOLE point! But so VERY glad I'm getting the Catholic perspective because there are differences. We truly have our own heritage and I very much value it! I almost take insult now when I think back to others telling me I needed to purchase the King James version...I'd never say that to them...why do they think it's ok to say that to me? Sorry.... I digress!
Sunday November 22!: Saint Cecilia: Virgin and Martyr. A young Christian patrician, Cecilia(Cecily) lived in the 3rd century and was betrothed to a pagan named valerius. Maintaining her vow of virginity, she converted her husband, who accepted baptism and died a martyr. Cecilia refused to sacrifice to the idols and was beheaded. the figure of this saint is closely tied to music, perhaps because the passio that relates her story refers to how during her wedding "as organs were playing Cecilia sung in her heart to the Lord." Since the 14th century it has been customary to depict her w/ musical instruments, particularly an organ. protector: Music, musicians, makers of stringed instruments, poets, and singers. Name: Cecilia, of Latin origin menas "blind"; according to medieval etymology the name meas "sky and lilies". taken from "Saints a Year in Faith and Art"
From Daily Catholic Bible: St. Basil the Great: " The mere renunciation of sins is not sufficient for the salvation of penitents, but fruits worthy of repentance are also required of them."
There you are ladies have a wonderful Sunday!
