Hi all, and welcome new ladies!

I guess it's confession time...I missed 3 sundays plus christmas eve....plus immaculate conception...bUT I was having surgery, traveling and post op and weather so I think I'm ok....I just know I was SO relieved to get back NY day and this past sunday.  Tonight we resume Catholic Bible study at Univ dallas(altho in TX stuff gets cancelled when temps drop below 30- we just are not equipped to deal w/ this stuff).....Looking forward to resuming BUT may not happen until next week.  Haven't turned on the tube yet this am but expect there will be lots of closings......WOW lots of cold strong winds last night!  And we're to be in the teens the next couple days,  A bit of rain last night made for some slipping and sliding this am I'm sure.

I have GOOD news to share!  Today I removed my LAST drain post stage 2 DIEP recon.....My drianage dropped to below prescribed amount AND I am exactly 4 weeks post stage 2 today!..I had my abd incision revised w/ stage 2 plus my NOlA doc was really generous w/ other contouring and bonuses.......also my 10lb lifting restriction is officially OVER!  Woo hoo!  Still sore and sort of weird boggy feeling thru the trunk but So much better and nothing but GOOD to look forward to!  Still in compression and will stay that way for a while-compression is our friend!  Esp after this surgery!  STILL in awe over finally making it to 'the other side'!  Fabulous!  Next week I go back to work!  Looking forward to it -just have to get my body able to tolerate -starting w/ 8 hr days as opposed to 12 hours.

    Jeannine....HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!Smile

I will jump onto the other prayers/intentions here and ask for continued intercessory prayers from Sts Agatha and Perregrine!

Have a wonderful thursday!  Stay warm!

    Thanks Laura,

It is still sinking in!  I know it will really hit on Monday when back at work!

Very lazy saturday.  Was up late last pm went to FTW symphony  Vivaldi and Mozart.  Really awesome.  DS and BIL went w/ me.  I slept untilalmost 9am today....that NEVer happens!

40th bday party for a nephew tonight= excuse to buy the perfect brown riding boots.....they are on sale now anyways! Not to mention Cowboys in playoffs tonight and FTW stock show begins in another week.  When will I take down these christmas decorations? Pretty sure it will have to be an extended process as they are excessive....and HEY!  I can still use the surgery and restrictions for excuse this year!

Continued intecessory prayers for all via  Sts Agatha and  Perregrine.  Learned my friend Alaina- a catholic and  on bc.org but haven't seen her on this thread?  She is now stage 4(learned in dec)  w/ bone mets is in pain so she's on my mind and in my prayers.

    Have a wonderful wkend!

    Hi Ladies!

Just back on BC.org after starting work again this week....it's been over a year since I last worked! I am so grateful to our Father for allowing me to find a job where I don't have to travel (ie.. flying around....) but I have put in some long hours already and am missing daily Mass, the Rosary and Adoration!  I am now praying the Rosary via CD driving to work, which is fine, but NY traffic is NOT contemplative! HA HA!  AND DAILY EUCHARIST...how I miss that!! So today being Saturday, I went to Mass, joined the Lay Apostle monthly prayer meeting and then went to St. Jean the Baptiste for Adoration...and I finally feel calmed downed and a bit more centered....We have so many gifts available to us as Catholics!  So many miraculous things happen on a daily basis....so glad each of you are here to share in all our blessings!

Nancy.....I am reading BREASTS and a new home for you!!  YESSS!  Not really sure what is up with your family thinking you were "frivolous"....say what???  I hope they never have to go through what you have endured.  But God is taking care of you....He is the BEST family to have!!

Jeannine..hope you had a fun birthday!

Jennifer....welcome to the far (other) side!! :)  CONGRATS!!!

And welcome to Anne, Candie....and any other lurker!  We are praying for you, too!

St. Agatha, St. Peregrine...intercede for all of us on this thread, in Jesus name, Amen!

    Stay warm all!

    God Bless!

Angel, thankfully I come from a big family, and it's not everyone that thinks that way. My older sister will be coming to stay with me to help after the operation, and she definitely does not think it's frivilous. Her husband is a retired plastic surgeon, and she understands the emotional impact of losing breasts or just wanting your breasts different (larger, smaller, lifted). So many females have such an love/hate identity thing with their breasts.

I should be able to do both. The ones who didn't understand thought I should make buying a home my first priority, then have recon after I settle in. I know me...once I'm in my own home I will want to spend more to decorate than is prudent. I'd end up with the money for my breast reconstruction in a new kitchen. So I'm doing it in this order. I may have to live with a kitchen that is not so mod, but it will be perfectly workable. Once I explained that to each of them, they backed off and have been more supportive.

Sts. Peregrine and Agatha, I pray today that you intercede with Our Lord for Watson, Marie317, Jeannine and Kalyla. I ask that their doctors find a treatment that greatly benefits them. I pray for relief of their worry and pain. I pray for a miracle. Amen.

Nancy I'm so happy you've made the decision that is right for you - I'll be praying for you to get through surgery without complications! And I'm also praying to all the Saints and our Blessed Mother to help our sisters in need, especially my friend Kalyla (we had tried to meet last year without success - we both used the same PS for our original recons) - it saddens me so much to learn about her suffering. May God's angels continue to watch over all of us.

Hi, mmm5 and swimangel, glad to see you are here too.

Thank you to all others for the welcome.

I teach CCD on Sunday's. to 2nd graders. They are so sweet as they prepare this year for their 1st Reconciliation and 1sy Communion, Yesterday, they made get well cards that I will send to bc sisters who are suffering right now. They did such a good job. I have 11 of them. So far I will be sending to Wats,Faith,Kbug,Saint,Kimmytoo. any other suggestions? I try to do a service project each month. This month is sending get well cards to people in need of them. Pls pm me with names and addresses. I have 6 cards left from this bunch.

I say the Rosary, usually while I am driving. I find it calming to pray then.

Glad to belong to this nice group. You are all always in my prayers.

    hugs and prayers,

    Candie

    Ladies

I feel like I suck the prayers right out of this thread, but need a few more. Onc's wanting me to do a bone scan tomorrow as the back pain continues. I am scared of course but feel a little more at peace that hopefully it will guide me in finding answers for chronic back pain.

Some days I am just sick of all of this.

NJ...I pray you are right and it is stress and lack of Estrogen., I really do believe what you have written to me. Maybe thats why i am more peaceful.

Truly..Thank you all for your prayers & B-day wishes. Nancy D...that miracle is a commeth. My family is giving me a b-day party this weekend. 80's theme. How fun huh? I am just blessed and grateful to enjoy.

Nancy................Do what is right for Nancy....this advice from an innate people pleaser(or maybe that's youngest sibling syndrome?)..............................I love my home but when I gave up the last one and was in between and purchasing another I did realize it is JUST a roof over my head...nothing more.  Your health-physical, mental, spiritual health is of utmost importance.  And until your siblings have walked in your shoes they truly have absolutely NO idea of what life is like for you every time you get dressed, take a shower, look in the mirror, attempt to be intimate w/ your husband or are too afraind to ever become physically intimate due to body image issues.  IT IS OK...actually it is GREAT you are doing this.  Get someone GOOD!  and know that this will help restore you physically mentally emotionally.  You are the one who has to live in your body the rest of your life......the roof over your head can change easily!  Cheers girl!  Keep us abreast of your recon adventure ok?

Dave Emmons was my S-i-l's father. He was not Catholic... and have NO respect for religion. But we do believe, that he believed in God and Jesus.... It is so hard to not know where the soul of a loved on is after they pass...

    Thanks to you all again.

Negative Bone scan after 3 long anxious days. I am drinking a big glass of red wine...shhhhh don't tell anyone! (just one)
Just a lot of degenerative issues but hopefully a good orthaped will help and PT. My feeling is that it has always been there but with no more hormones it is just worse for the wear.

Prayers tonight for the Haitian people and may we be able to help to get them everything they may need for survival. We did a great program for them called "feed my starving children" it is a fun family food packing project and you can do it in your area it is very very helpful to the children there.

Also continued prayers for Jeannine, Watson, and Andi from Power of prayer thread.

    Thanks all!!

    Candie-

It is called "feed my starving children", it is an organization that was put together by a Man that was devastated by the literally starving children in Haiti. Through donations they have come up with a packaged meal that is safe for transport and contains all the vitamins and mineral kids need to thrive... and is perfect for there preparation requirements. They invite groups in to pack the food, we had a team of 10 and it is fun assembly line and precise measuring system.

You spend 2 hours learning and packing food for the kids. They ask for donations from each participant, but kids can come too and help and they will take any donation.

It is fun, educational for children and it educates one's family on how much benefit comes from this type of program.

You can google "feed my starving children" for a location near you.
