So right! They have the big eyes but, as infants, they are afraid of the dark; and you can never have too many nightlights for baby. (Who am I kidding, I want this one.)

Helena, I agree with you. I turned 46 a few days ago. I also have a seven year old. Along with a 19 and a 23 year old that just told me I'm going to be a grandma. I am doing everything I can to be around to enjoy them all for many years to come!

Sorry I'm late - everything looks wonderful! Party favours, drinks and gifts galore. Every baby needs a bib - I am thinking that alien babies are extra drooly.

Well, if we have moved on to brandy and the desserts, then I think the Alien Baby Shower is coming to a close. I can't thank you all enough for coming by today and for the lovely gifts. They were really out of this world (and they really will be shortly, since I will re-gift them to the alien mom...she'll never know.) The only thing I can think of might be a touch of art for alien baby's room, something meaningful that will shape the years to come. I know...

Good to take our minds off of cancer for a few hours, I think, even if it means me having an alien baby to do it. What I won't go thru' just so we can have a little fun.

Barbe, I know you like to wander the many BCO threads (I haven't been off to the other threads that much lately) but I am glad you made it back here and I hope all's well with you. I wouldn't say I am fearless. I think the surgery will be kind of cool, in a weird cutting of my skin and scarring me up kind of way BUT what I seriously do not like is the change. I pretty much avoided "new normal" in my brush with B/C, getting back fairly close to my old normal. Now, with this, I have to face the reality that things are going to be different, and I fear it is only wishful thinking that the change will be for the better. Neccesary as it might be to get that cancer out, I still hope I can FEEL LIKE ME when it is all over.
I am taking one of Barbe's many tips and eating light today, mainly just fruits and vegetables. Things that I can easily digest. Tomorrow is my liquid diet and (nasty) prep day. Have any of you done the Miralax + Gatorade prep? I was surprised it wasn't the disgusting prescription liquid prep, but not having yet tasted Miralax and Gatorade together...that may taste even worse. I'll find out soon enough. I told my husband (yesterday) of my light eating plan for today. He still asked me (today) if I wanted to have the leftover roast for dinner tonight. Duh! Who has the chemo brain now?

Elimar - I have been told by many patients that Miralax has no taste. Now mixed with Gatorade I don't know, not a Gatorade fan. Are you restricted to the lighter colored Gatorade? Might could tolerate grape. Only preps I've had was Dulcolax and Mag Citrate for a barium enema and the luscious Suprep for my colonoscopy.
The shower was hilarious. I got to google alien baby clothes, alien baby music, alien food. Have to take cupcakes to bunch of nutty friends next month. They might get the 3 eyed cupcakes. If you want a hoot google alien baby music without quotes. The last entry should be Easter - Alien Babies. I'm not fond of the group name taking a religious holiday (they are German I think) but the video is hilarious. Can't make out all the words but don't think is it sacrilegious. That is why I hesitated to post the link; didn't want to offend anyone. Seems like not much alien baby music? We know they have ears, yes. Video says nominee of the Berlin 2013 Video Awards. Puhleeze!!!
Wishing you just the best (if that is a correct way to put it) alien removal on Tuesday. Robots rule. May comet Pan-STARRS take all alien baby remains away and leave you only healing vibes from the Universe. Seriously, my prayers are with you Elimar. Have an easy day today and prep tomorrow. I loved the alien baby shower! Quite a selection of odd things on the internet. (Queue "People Are Strange" by The Doors)
Elimar - that's the prep I did for my colonoscopy in December. Not bad at all. They said Gatorade or Crystal Light Lemonade. I don't like Gatorade, but I have no problem with the lemonade (I figured I could use the rest of it for Southern Comfort & Lemonade this summer). I mixed 64 oz in a pitcher the night before (they encouraged refrigerating it) then the next day I was supposed to take 32 oz in two separate sessions. So I poured half of it in a carafe of wine (a regretfully empty one), added the Miralax, mixed well and chugged it. Probably the hardest part was having to drink 32 oz of liquid in such a short period of time, and then do it again an hour later!
Ugh, spring ahead! Glad spring is coming but hate losing an hour today.

Spent all Sat with one dd and g'son. That child is gorgeous but needy, so I walked miles carrying him! Loved every second of course. Left there this morning and stopped for a quick visit with other dd and g'son on way home. I'm so in love with those boys, but really enjoying the solitude of my own home too! Yeah, hub is here too, but we don't hang out in same room!
Anyway, if I missed a big event in your life I'm sorry and hope it was good.
To those having big stuff this week, I'm in for the pocket parties, especially you our leader Eli.

Just spent a week in the frozen land of Lake Superior for my granddaughter's 6th birthday. She got her ears pierced, and no, Grandma did not do it the way hers were done many, many years ago: with the traditional ice cubes & needle. While standing for the first side and, after starting to slide down the wall, sitting for the other side.
E~~ I loved your pictures of your cruise. My virtual vacation - thanks! Thanks for not taking me out too far, cos as everyone knows, I can't swim. lol (seriously)
E~~ I know you have a date with Leonardo & I'll be thinking of you. I'm thinking while you are in Marvin's Room having surgery, I might hear The Man in the Iron Mask yell as he reaches the alien, "Hey, What's Eating Gilbert Grape? (die! die!) Get that d*mn thing Out of the Furnace (warm body part) (The) Quick & (the) Dead. And as it (The) Departed, we hear in the distance, "Catch Me If You Can!" Then after you recover, all of us fly with you in G-Force on The Aviator to The Titanic to The Beach on Shutter Island where we can watch the Total Eclipse while trying not to get Poison Ivy while searching for a Blood Diamond trying to spot a Celebrity (hoping he is not The Wolf of Wall Street).
On a serious note, I will hold good thoughts for you, dear sister/friend.

We were hoping to raise 4-5 grand for the man with brain cancer. Between the 91 pies and raffles and donations we raised over 10 grand. We were shocked. My brother said he seemed embarrassed, but we know he will need it because he can't work once he starts rads.

Oh, Eli~ what a weekend it was. I am the president of a club and spent Friday writing board minutes and agendas for board meeting and regular meeting. Sat AM was the mtg and had an out of town guest speaker which didn't finished until 1:30, ran to grocery for preparations for a celebratory dinner for DS and his new Fiance', worked on dinner, preparing a gift for them, and serving up a formal multi-course dinner for 6. Spent the evening talking wedding plan talk and went to bed at 11.
Woke up reasonably early yesterday only to remember I forgot to set my clock forward and still had some food prep to do before church....church...then a two hour drive to a winery to pair wines for a 5 course winemaker's dinner I am catering next Saturday! Dealt with a cantaquerous winemaker and his wife, made the two hour trek back home, zapped a corndog (I hate corn dogs, but it was easy) and collapsed in bed. Only to wake up to our alarm at 4 am??? Oh, it was 5, I still forgot to set that clock forward!

Meece, Thanks for those pics of the families (especially the b&w!) but thankfully, as a surrogate, I don't have to do the raising. Therefore, I will never have to worry about wedding planning for the alien child, so I dodged that bullet. (I was hoping to have dodged the main barrage of marriage bullets simply by having boys, but are you telling me that is not the case?) BTW, it warms my heart to realize that you feel so comfortable on this thread that you can freely share your corndog confession here. Technically, no one over the age of 10 is supposed to eat one, but we'll keep your secret, girlfriend.
My plans for today are to just loll around and enjoy my abdomen. You know, just the normal feeling of it that I have had my whole lifetime up until tomorrow. (Although this sounds like i am being jokey, I am totally serious.)

I too thought I had dodged the wedding bullet. DS3 married last year and I ended up footing so much of the bill because the brides family are "different". I was so excited when talking to FDIL on Satuyrday when we were talking expenses and she stated she'd just have to ask her Daddy. Makes me more willing to help when I know I'm not gonna be the only one.
Unfortunately at alien weddings it is often difficult to track down the father of the bride so the surrogate mother must pay for the cake.
