Barsco, a hearty wooo hoooo for stable :)

Kat, welcome to our happy home! We have some great parties in between dispensing wisdom and holding hands. We also hop in your pocket to accompany you to tests or med appts so don't hesitate to ask.

Elimar, how come I never think of things like you do?  When they give me the Rx for the steroids for CT scans, I take the whole thing.

I get the priviledge of having another MRI a week form tomorrow.  I told the scheduler how I am a hard stick and I want someone who is experienced at starting Ivs.  All she told me was to be well hydrated.  I don't know if she put the note in my chart or not.  Elimar, do you mind flying out here and going with so you can watch my back?

Whooo whoo, for stable boy! How does he dance with that saddle in his hands? Congrats brasco!!!!!!

    Kat, welcome!

luv, my MRI was this evening. They surprised me with how quick I got an appt. The tech said to me as I was getting off the table with my achey joints, I can tell you were in pain. After thinking about it for a while, I think I must have been humming along with the music and she thought I was whimmpering. As long as I keep my eyes closed and imagine I am on a tropical beach with the hotel behind me getting demolished I am okay.

meece, I am like you and try to be the good girl and do what they tell me. Which leads me to be overmedicated lots of times. I am glad I have the PCP I have now, she knows that for me less is better. But we will be with you next Thursday, I'll bring the lemonade.

(I hope I did not offend anyone with my lemon joke.)

I believe those steroids are lingering, because here I am up in the middle of the night.  If I had taken them all, I'd probably be up on the roof.  Talk about flying out there, Meece?  Right about now, I could strap on a pair of Icarus wings and be there by morning!

mac, Well, then, you and I are both waiting on the scan results the next few days.  Mine might not get out til next week, and I am not apprehensive about them, so I'm kind of putting it out of my mind.  Let's hope we both have some good news to share with the gang.

Since I don't feel like watching the usual Law & Order reruns, think I will browse You Tube for some classic rock gems.  Darn steroids!

Eli - It is a great feeling to know that stable boy is maturing into such a handsome man. I sure hope we grow old together.

Meece - will jump in next Thurs to be with you.

mac and eli - wishing for only good results for both of you.

Eli~, fly at night because it has been around 100° here and want you to get all the way here, not have a "melt down" over Arizona

Thanks, Barsco.  After my ordeal last month I was ready to pass out, so if I have enough company in my pockets, at least I will keep propped up.

Good Afternoon everyone! Thanks so much for the welcome!Smile I think this might just be one of my favorite forums...........I believe peeking under the saddle did it~ Oh yes and the lemons~

Going in for my Pre Op tomorrow anyone who cares to join me.... hop  on in my pocket and thanks! I must admit as my revision surgery approaches  (Sept 20th) I am getting more nervous. My implants are deformed by CC and probable leakage (silicone implants) but after 19 years that's to be expected I guess. So many new things going on since my last breast surgery. My PS plans to replace  the implants, do some reconstruction and then fat grafting. I am doing this alone this time, got rid of the DH who was a jerk. My daughter will be with me the day of surgery but she works the next several days after plus she has a family to take care of.

I hope everyone gets great results back.....you all deserve it!

Thanks again for the warm welcome!

    Kat

I love the topper E.  When I 1st saw it, I thought it was the statue of Liberty's head glowing, then on saw the lady on the right so then it appeared she had just crossed a bridge (?) a piano keyboard (?) walked out of a flaming crocodile's mouth (?) Anyway-it's a great pic!

Eph,  It's called "She Marches to the Beat of a Different Drummer" by San Francisco artist Judith Shaw.  I think it is one of her Goddess inspired pieces and I love the colors and the way it is open to interpretation (like you imagined four different scenarios for it.)

Kat and Meece, wear the baggy pants, I'm climbing in those pockets :)

Eph, I had to laugh...I looked at the pic, thought it was pretty cool, and then saw many diff possibilities too! Was going to keep quiet 'cause I thought I was just confused :) Good choice Eli, as always.

Thanks, Marlegal.  I will make sure I wear the baggiest pants I can find.

No drums here. I did borrow a guitar with great intentions of re-learning to play. But it just sat in a corner for most of the summer. After dusting it off one too many times, I gave it back to it's owner. Congrats on your accomplishments Eph!

Katlebbie - hope I'm not too late for the PP! I just finished baking some fresh cinnamon buns for the occasion.

I need some sugar cinnamon buns for today.  I read about my EMG for today and found out it involves multiple needle probes, repositioned multiple times.  You know how I love needles.  They told me I have to wear shorts and a short sleeved top, so I will have to carry a big purse.  My PP will be at 11 am PST, since Kat asked first, if anyone is able to make my PP after Kat's I would appreciate it.

Kat and Meece, yes, sequins!  We may be anxious, but we still look good.  Pre-Ops are boring.  I will have to find something entertaining.  Don't know what I can do for the multiple needle sticks, maybe some band-aids or jello shots.

    I am easily entertained...

Hpw 'bout these tasty litle treats Meece?  They are small, so you get one for each needle stick today.  Make the boo-boos feel better.

Wow that was an hour of BCO withdrawal. Glad it's back.

Hope I'm not too late Meece and Kat.

Here's some sugar cinnamon bun type thingies for purse and pocket parties. We'll try to keep the stickiness down to a minimum, won't we.

I am really stressing out over this.  She didn't tell me what was involved and until I was told to wear shorts and short sleeved shirt, I didn't even think to look it up.  I wanna sugar high so big that they'll peel me off the ceiling  (or have to strap me down).

Meece - have you asked about taking at least something mild Tylenol - ish? I bet anything like Ativan/Xanax would be discouraged. I read there is a kind with pads (guess like EKG pads) rather than needles. Too bad you're not having that one. EMGs are a test I know little about and don't think I had many pts get one. Will be thinking about you 1pm Texas time.

Kat - getting those implants replaced is bound to feel better. I know you know to get your house (in broad terms LOL) in order esp. since you say your DD cannot be around much. Wish I was close to help out. Any church/social circle friends who can lend a hand?

I want to thank all of you for coming with me to my Pre Op my pockets were budging with friends and awesome treats. Everything went well except for my BP 139 /96 so they retook it after all the probes and sticks and it went up to 145/ 98 so unless it goes down by Monday I have to postpone surgery. Anyone know how to control BP I realize it's up because of stress but it is too high. Any suggestions on how to get it lower and how to destress?

Elimate the salt in your diet, and drink water to flush what's already in there.  I'd also say to supplement with Ca/Mg but I don't know if you will notice a change in three short days.  Try some magnesium bath salts.  This does help with muscle relaxation.  Make sure to get enough sleep.

These are a few things I can think of, Katlebbie.  Good Luck.  I hope you can proceed on Monday.

Kat - google belly breathing/abdominal breathing/diaphragmatic breathing - all the same. It is a method of relaxation. Practice, practice over the weekend. You can use it while waiting in exam room. Arrive early to appt, no rushing. Dress cool, comfy. Limit coffee/tea/caffeine. I say limit because eliminating it now will cause rebound headache. Think float, float, float. "Calgon take me away".

Kat--- don't take ibuprofen or any decongestants before Dr. appts. they both raise blood pressure...........

    luvmygoats Member Posts: 2,484

OO Loral good catch on those. Kat when is surgery scheduled? You probably should not be on Ibuprofen pre surgery anyway without your doc's explicit instructions. Tylenol likely OK. But true about the decongestants.

Luv, good advice about BP...I was doing phys therapy for my back yrs ago and on arrival BP was sky high...when leaving, low/normal for me. They finally asked what i was doing before I got there. Nothing I said...just driving from train to here. Then I realized my "HEY ASSHOLE" and "YOU DICK" method of driving! Next time I went, I made a conscious effort to relax while driving - pressure was my normal 110/72 on arrival!!!! Amazing and scary at the same time how our attitude/demeanor really affects our health.

LOL, yes, the "HEY ASSHOLE" method of driving is not good for your health. We have not owned a car in almost 20 years (which is one solution), but when we lived in NY, my DH had the HA method down to a fine science. I started taking a book in the car and read aloud to him while he was driving. It distracted him enough that he was able to remain human behind the wheel.
