Did 1hour, 3.5 miles on treadmill. It says I burned about 300 calories. Trying to lose 15 to 20 pounds.

    Looks warm Ruth!

I had the best sleep in over a year last night. I feel so hopeful and motivated! I'm claiming my good sleep is from my exercise yesterday. I'm going for a repeat today after work!

Bucsgirl, so sorry to hear about your SIL.

2Fun, yay for the great sleep!

We are off to snowier climes tomorrow and I hope at some point to be able to ski on a slope going down to Italy.

Just wanted to post this link on exercise in lieu of actually exercising: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/24/well/move/the-mysterious-interior-world-of-exercise.html

Not football related but still worthy of cheers, Roger Federer on his 43rd Grand Slam semifinal. Amazing!

Disney is a great way to get steps in!!! I am currently plotting a trip for my DGD's 10th birthday in March...unfortunately, it will probably be too close after knee replacement number two (for left knee this time) to do too many steps...but I figure I can use a wheelchair if I need to.

    Swam today. Yay!!!

    Ladies

Im reaching out to you all, I need some help some ideas on good workout programs I work full time so am able to walk on break and lunch but other then that no exercise. I use to exercise all the time. Turbo Jam, turboFire, Hip hop abs and Lesley sandstone. problem is I have became bored with them all and I hate any sort of exercise machines . I do some yoga when Im able to get my lazy butt up in the morning but that is rare. I come home so tired at night I just want to get supper over and go to bed. Im heavier then I have ever been 30# since April and have not changed my eating habits. Im a healthy eater, I do not eat junk, so thinking its got to be the Letrozole that is causing the weight gain. Any ideas of good programs that any of you have used and works for you would be most appreciated . . My fat pants are now tight . I have to get this weight off , it makes me horrible miserable

    Thanks

I swam 1 mile today. I have been weighing in everyday. I have a word document with a table with 8 colums, each row is a week and the last column is for weight lost that week. Each daily entry is how much I exercised and what I weigh that day. Some people record their caloric intake for the day I don't I just try to keep it between 1200 and 1500 a day.

I am thinking about adding another column for a weekly picture of my face. So I can see the difference each week.

I need to see progress. Also it helps me to keep at it with daily entries.

Honey, AI drugs will pack on pounds for sure.

Of course you do Karen. I was astounded by how deep the tentacles of motherhood ran within my DNA when in the raw, early grieving the loss of my mother. Gentle thoughts to you . Honeybeaw, welcome and motivation is on tap here, just do something to start; that is where we all began.

Been a bit of a slog this week with strong, wet rainy windy weather each day making it difficult. Have a number of books to read before starting yoga teacher training and still reading Fire & Fury. Just don't have the time to read or not using my free time efficiently and effectively. The perils of being human with this screen enticing me to buy something I think I need or want. One of my biggest time wasters - HA! Let's keep at it!

Pilates early afternoon and BodyBalance early evening.

Karen, be gentle with yourself. Let yourself feel everything, and don't push the emotion away. It's what makes us human. You had a wonderful gift to have a long relationship with your mom!

My active yoga class last night spent perhaps 45 minutes of the 75 minutes on our knees in one pose or another...yikes I'm feeling that today! Hope I can walk it out today.

karen - losing a mom is so hard and you need to just give yourself time to grieve. You will be okay because you have wonderful memories that will sustain you thru this process. Hang in there and let yourself feel what you feel.

honey - don't give up on yourself! Araimidex has blessed me with a lovely beer belly, and I don't even drink beer!! My weight is exactly the same as it was before my BMX but it seems to have all shifted to my stomach. I have been walking a lot but that hasnt done much good. So I am going to have to break down and go to the gym. I have bad back issues so am limited as to what I can do. It can be very depressing.

Don't give up on yourself. Even if you can walk a little at lunchtime that's a start. And I was told by my MO that it can take a full year or more to really recover. Its major trauma to your body. My issue is all psychological and emotional, so I am having to deal with that.

You will get there. Keep posting on this thread - lots of great advice and support here.

Karen- big hugs to you! Losing someone you love deeply is so hard on the heart. When our oldest daughter passed away unexpectedly I told myself I just have to make it to the next minute. Then I went to 5 minutes...then half hour then hours and then days. I always felt her presence near me at night. I think it was because while the rest of the world was alseep I was wide awake talking to God. Something about all the stillness just made God feel so much closer so that meant Michelle was closer to. I see her in so many things. Butterflies, lady bugs and the gentle summer breeze. Let the memories fill that emptiness you feel and know that your Mother knows how much you miss her.

honey, while exercise is great and yes we should all be doing it, all my caregivers have been saying "you can't outrun your fork".

It doesn't matter how healthy the food is, if it's too many calories, you will gain weight. As we age our metabolism slows. The hormonal treatments add their own effect of metabolic slow down. So honestly I'd start with getting a food scale, weighing all your food and tracking your intake for a week or so (you can use my fitness pal to easily log & it finds the calories for most foods). Then adjust that down by 10-20%, add exercise, and see how things look in 3 months.

It is way too easy to eat 100 - 200 extra calories per day but really quite hard to work it off. It's easier to not eat it in the first place. And those 100-200 cal/day over weeks and months will pack on a lot of weight.

Went to my "not" gentle yoga class at lunchtime...and finally they renamed the class - "Gentle Power Yoga"!!! What a blend of terms!, but totally accurate.

When they say "set an intention for your practice", my intention is to be mindful so I can get through the 75 minutes without hurting myself...

That's four classes for me this week, yeah.

I should take up yoga again. The class is at 8pm and I don't want to go at that time.

I did 1hr on treadmill this morning, 3.5 miles.

Only got to 7600 steps today. Our poor DH had a glitch in her insulin catheter while at dinner at Epcot last night, so had to find a bandaid (without having to go to first aid) to try to patch it until we got back to the hotel. Then she had a touch of food poisoning during the night and into this morning. She was feeling a lot better this afternoon when we left to come home. They still have 2 full days left at Disney before they head back to Massachusetts. Wish it had been warmer here while they were here!

Going to the gym this weekend to see what machines I can use that won't bother my back. I love to walk but I need to do more that that so that I can work on getting rid of this stomach.

Hello, I hate typing on my phone....I can't make paragraphs so everything runs together, but here goes....Snickers, hope everything gets back on track so your family can enjoy the rest of their vacation......Sending another hug, Karen. My mom died in 2003, and I still look through her recipe books once and awhile just to read her handwritten notes; "less salt", "makes scads of bars" etc.......Vargadoll, I am so, so sorry about your dear daughter. I am sending hugs your way too....Honey, I love classes. I also keep a notebook, I decide my weekly goals; how many hours of aerobic exercise and how many hours of toning activities, block them off into 15 minute increments and then check them off as I do them.....Moth, I think I need a 'You Can't Outrun Your Fork' sign tattooed on my lips!!! Unless I take up marathon running, I need to remember that. Another thing to remember as we age (especially, but certainly not only, when on anti-hormonals), if you want to keep a shapely figure, you are going to have to step up the toning, probably a lot......I am still fighting a cold (this is the first day since we got here that I didn't cold pill myself to keep going), so I am skipping all the strenuos stuff in favor of lots of walking and soaking up the Vitamin D.
