I know what you mean, Ruth, about those normal days.

Did a Sally up Sally down squat challenge with DD yesterday (4 minutes). Ouch!

Salsa tonight and if DD has time, we will do the Sally up Sally down push up challenge.

did 50 min aquatic exercise class. I decided the classes do not give me as good of a workout as I gI've myself when I do self directed aquatics. (I should be ok.at it, after all I did special training in aquatic exercise decades ago!lol)

On my new AI for 10 days. My trigger fingers are getting worse. Bummer. Also gaining weight, bigger bummer!

I need to make a plan for today's exercise so it really happens!

Today is the last day of classes for our students, but we have to clock in/out until friday. I will be painting with you Ruth!

Yesterday I walked/ran in the pool for a hour! I had my sneakers on and was heading to the park and thought this is crazy just run in the water! It felt great! I got stung by something. It got me twice. It wasn't a bee I have no clue what ugly kind of bug it is! Got me in my LE side under my arm and on my chest. I went over board on steps yesterday because I'm sure I will sleep this afternoon when I get home from my biopsy. My girl hasn't been for an over night visit with her guardian in months and out of the blue they want her for a sleep over tonight. I'm feeling blessed that my needs are always met! I could have handled her this afternoon and now I get to zone out. Maybe even dinner with my DH just the 2 of us. No grandkids today.

    Keep moving girls!

Quick funny story. Our neighbors cat hangs out at our house. (I feed him ;o) ) I call him Phil I have no clue what his real name is and they have no idea he spends all day at my house. Something carried off all his little treats and carried off the container I keep his cat food in on the veranda. We sat up a motion activated game camera Sunday night to see what's coming up in our veranda at night. We had a stray cat come by twice, a raccoon and a possum! Our veranda is nonstop action after we go to bed at night!

    This is Phil!

vargasdoll- I love the picture of feel, the cat. Too cute.

Ruth- I completely finished painting my master bedroom yesterday. When I get home from work this evening after a 3 Mile Walk I'm going to start hanging up my paintings. My antique bed frame is arriving Thursday afternoon. My new mattress hopefully will arrive after the bed is setup. It wasn't too difficult cleaning out my master bedroom. Every 3 months I thin out my closets. I've always lived by one rule when it came to purchasing clothes. If I purchase two new dresses I donate two dresses from my closet to a charity. Anything that goes into my closet the same amount of items go out. I don't have any issues getting rid of clothes. Getting rid of my running shoes is a whole different story.

I'm at MSMC waiting to see my radiation oncologist for the first time. I'm not sure what to expect this morning. Hopefully she will set up a schedule for my radiation treatments. Besides having to do with blisters on my feet I feel fantastic. Hoping all of you have a wonderful day.

Phil is just adorable, Varga! When I was married, we once had a racoon come through a hole in the screen door and make it all the way to the kitchen in search of cat food. I met him in the dining room wearing my nightgown. We fixed the screen door shortly afterwards!

Speaking of running shoes, all of the above. I need new ones, and I need to get rid of one of my old pairs. Really need to do a general closet edit which I am planning for later this summer. That said, it was wonderful to not have to buy anything new for the Alumni Banquet, and I got many compliments about how stylish I looked. I did buy two wonderful pairs of cotton capris for the reunion which are so perfect. Just loving them!

Did 27 miles of cycling yesterday, so 90 for the three days.

Delightfully cool here this morning, even if it promises to be another warm day. - Claire

Just got done with Zumba and checking in on my phone before I go home to work.

Here's a story: A few days before Flag Day a small cemetery near here decorated all the veteran's graves with flags, the next morning they were gone. They put out more flags and the same thing happened. They were getting very outraged so set up a security camera. Raccoons were stealing the flags and hiding them in the woods!

Ruth- that made me laugh! A good read while waiting to be called back! Shoes...I love Brooks. I have wide feet and I call them Flintstone feet. Brooks make me want to run!! I have gotten lucky and found a few pairs at Ross. Much better price. For Zumba I wear memory foam sneakers like Sketchers, Nike or Rebock. I like they way the make it easy to slide.

Ruth: the raccoon story is HILARIOUS!!! Would love to see that video.

Varga: Phil is so sweet looking and appears to be well fed!

jo: let us know how your appointment with your ro went.

Heidi: that's cool that you and your dd challenge each other.

Hi All! This past weekend I bought a new pair of running shoes. I have narrow feet and many companies don't make a narrow option. I bought New Balance 880 and LOVE them! When buying new running shoes, determine first if your feet over pronate, under pronate, or are neutral. I only slightly under pronate but went with this shoe bc it's a neutral.

Walked/ran this morning. Too hot and humid to go later in the evening - plus the air quality is Code Orange. My new shoes have been fabulous. In fact, I'm wearing them right now.

On a side note: my dd is a bridesmaid in a wedding this weekend for her friend who is Cambodian. The wedding starts on Friday at 7am! It lasts until 5pm. On Saturday there is a 7 hour reception. I've know the bride since she and dd started kindergarten together. There are 9 different outfit changes during those 2 days. I can't wait to see dd all her outfits!!! Will post some pictures afterwards.

Terrific photo of Phil Vargadoll! Last night we had our first of two spa evenings for Pink Ribbon Pilates at one of the clubs I teach at. These were part of the Macmillan grant we received and the ladies were treated to either a facial, mani/pedi or massage. Light finger food was also offered and use of all the facilities, including the pool, jacuzzi and sauna. There were 11 total and everyone had a good time.

Wow, what a wedding, Wonderland! What patriotic raccons, Ruth.

Lilacblue, the pics don't appear on my computer.

My outdoor running shoes are Swiss made - On is the brand. The model is Cloudflow. Just heavenly. I don't know if they are available in the US.

For Zumba I have $20 Fila shoes - very slidy.

Just looked up Cloudflow, and you can find them on eBay and Amazon, but not a huge selection. So for when I get around to updating my running shoes which are due for replacement.

Yesterday was a watershed day in my life when I told the head of the nonprofit that I need to move on. I just can't do any more months like January or May, and certainly can't focus on other areas of my business which I need to do at this point. I also want more free time. Perhaps, I may even get to use my super-fancy lawn chair. A girl can dream.

Below is what I wrote last night on another thread. - Claire

    ***********************************************************************

I am home tonight watching the sun slowly set on a hot late-spring day sipping champagne in celebration of a major life event. Today was the day that I told the head of the nonprofit where I have been heavily involved for a number of years that I need to disengage, giving a target date of about one month hence with the goal of finishing up a number of projects I am currently working on, and then doing a smooth handoff. It went far better than I had anticipated, but she did ask me to stay on and do one other major task. This is fine as it means more income for me.

My other business interests are heating up, and I am at the point that I can no longer do both. Plus, I want more free time to pursue my adventures, something extremely difficult to do when you are half dead much of the time. (Taking another sip of champagne.)

A major step which will bring me closer to my goal of a better life balance with time to build on my other consulting interests which play to my strengths. Plus give me time to hang out in my "Seattle office" better known as the wine bar. A number of independent consultants (or escapees from the office routine) hang out there Mondays "working" and discussing their various ventures.

I am making myself a steak dinner in celebration with fresh veggies from the farmers market. It's a trifle sultry out, but I don't care. I may sneak in a swim tomorrow though.

Think I will make some squash which I still have in the freezer along with the fresh peas. Saw the signs that they are putting in the pumpkin patch where I cycle which I assume also means Blue Hubbard squash. The ones I roasted up 2 years were fab. I am so stoked.

So much to update myself on for my new business ventures, but fortunately nimble and a quick study. Wish me luck! - Claire

Lilac, what a great, fun day!

Walked the Wednesday Women, back to painting, hope to go to Step tonight.

Good luck on the echo, Jo!

Claire, you will be hard to replace yet fully understand your shift and hope more 'you' adventure time works out. 2FUN, aqua instructors are hard to find here. I won't do it for the fact of standing poolside inhaling chlorine fumes. As these years have rolled on, my awareness of cancer-causing exposures grows exponentially, of course, disregarding cancer controversies. Nice mid-summer WWW photo Ruth. Glad to read the blisters have healed and back running Jo. Looking forward to wedding weekend photos Wonderland. Got the music and all that goes with it yesterday for new release BB #81. I'll be at the gym practicing to deliver asap as we have no launching at the gyms that I teach. Have Pilates to teach today at noon and will stay on as the studio is free for a few hours, to slip in practice. I'm finding it hard to stay buoyant and upbeat at online forums and don't want to upset with perhaps political division, yet need to say, I despair for our country and this week has been hideous and deeply painful to read and watch. There is clearly no bottom to evil. It's Friday - a sunny summer day, let's keep at it.

last day of school! No kids today but our district requires we clock in and out. We need to be therefrom 8 to 9:30, so we are clocking in and we'll go for a nice long walk, then clock out! It's a beautiful 48 degrees here now, with a high of 70F. Will garden and scrub when I get home.

Lilac, I agree with your sentiments. I wish I had more power to change the world. I'm putting out as much positive as I can! Pass on the kindness today!

Lilac, how what is going on is in any sense okay to anyone makes me ill. "In my work with the defendants (at the Nuremberg Trials 1945-1949) I was searching for the nature of evil and I now think I have come close to defining it. A lack of empathy. It's the one characteristic that connects all the defendants, a genuine incapacity to feel with their fellow men. Evil, I think, is the absence of empathy."-Captain G. M. Gilbert, US Army psychologist

On a brighter note, I tried something new this morning, Aqua Zumba. Very fun and a very good workout as well.

lilacblue- I share your sentiments 100%. Without empathy, we are nothing. I'm participating in a March tomorrow afternoon.

My body felt great after my run last night. This evening there was a light rain during my run. I had to be more careful about not slipping and falling. Everything smells better after a rain. We've been in the low 90s with the heat index. So the rain did cool things off a bit.

Have a wonderful weekend ladies. Keep On Moving.

Good morning all, this story was in the newspaper this week. The oncologist mentioned is also my onc.

UW CANCER RESEARCH | FUNDRAISING BY 'ONE WOMAN MANY LAKES'

Metastatic breast cancer patient swims, raises money for UW research

DAVID WAHLBERG, Wisconsin State Journal, Jun 19, 2018

When Mary Gooze learned her breast cancer had spread to her bones four years ago, she took to the water to raise awareness of metastatic breast cancer and funding for research to cure it.

Through a campaign called One Woman Many Lakes, the 67-year-old retired teacher from the village of Oregon has swum more than 50 miles in 38 lakes, rivers, bays and oceans, including some in other countries. She has raised nearly $700,000, including about $430,000 for the UW Carbone Cancer Center in Madison.

This spring, when Gooze learned her cancer had progressed to her spine, she responded with characteristic courage. She decided to swim in the Wisconsin Triterium Triathlon in Verona this coming Saturday, despite finishing fatigue-inducing radiation treatments just last week.

Joining her on a team will be metastatic breast cancer patient Erin Jacobson, 39, who lives near Spring Green and will bike, and their SSM Health oncologist, Dr. Yamil Arbaje, who will run. They're calling their team "Two 'Breast Friends' and the Tumornator."

"I'm sure I'll be a little slower than usual," said Gooze, who did triathlons before her initial breast cancer diagnosis in 2012.

With three adult children, including a daughter, and a 2-year-old granddaughter, she wants to give future patients more of a fighting chance against metastatic breast cancer — for which the average length of survival is three years.

"It's important we keep pushing this forward for the next generation," she said.

Jacobson, who learned she had metastatic breast cancer in 2016, also found out this spring that her cancer had progressed further, and recently finished radiation. An emergency room nurse at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville and a frequent triathlete, she cancelled longer races this summer because of her medical complications.

But she still plans to complete the bike portion of the sprint triathlon in Verona, which involves a quarter-mile swim, an 11-mile bike ride and a 5K run.

"It was important for me to do something," Jacobson said. "It keeps me saner, being active."

I haven't done nothin' this week as far as exercise. Rainy, rainy, rainy and didn't even do my stairs routine at work every day - only once. Today we have pleasant temperature and mostly sunny so I'll be out in a few minutes when DH gets ready and my allergy medicine kicks in!

Enjoyed catching up with Claire's vaca pictures, Ruth's walking women, and everyone's activities and tales for the week. Badger, amazing story of raising 700K through her swimiming.

Count me in as one who is sick over where we are as a country. Ruth, that statement you posted is so true. They have psychological diagnoses for it today, but it comes down to no empathy for others. I'm thinking maybe we should require a psychological evaluation for all of our elected officials.

Went strawberry picking for exercise today. We went to two different places to get them. The first one we didn't even pick at because the field looked picked over and all we could see were tiny ones that needed at least a week to grow more. The second place we went to we had been to in the past and they had stopped doing strawberries for a few years. We found out they started up again with strawberries. So we drove there and it was much better picking and we were only there for a half hour before we had filled two entire flats full!
