Hope there are tons of people at the March, Jo! I think it was Robert Lifton who said dehumanization was at the root of Nazi atrocities. Like vermin who will pour into and infest the country, as Trump describes Mexicans. Not a good sign.
Badger, amazing team! BTW I filled out the initial questionnaire for the Carbone Center mets study but haven't heard from them again. They are probably confused about my telephone number or don't want overseas patients. Vargadoll, many women are living longer than 3 years. I count myself lucky to have more than 10 years.
Ran 3K Friday, went to a tango workshop yesterday and today we are off on a hike or bike ride. I learned to lead in the tango open role workshop.

Had my wit exercised at an adaptation of Oscar Wilde's Picture of Dorian Grey in Seattle last night. Absolutely brilliant, and nice to attend one of the classics. Wilde was admired for a reason. Very dark and also extremely funny.
Otherwise, cycled 30 miles and walked 3 miles yesterday. More cycling today. I need to finish the 100 miles for this week today and tomorrow, do the same next weekend, and then a 60 mile ride on July 4 plus a couple of shorter rides the following weekend. Then I will be ready. Which reminds me that I need to book the Portland hotel and midway camping, plus get an air mattress that holds air.
Have worked my way through half of the 3 pints of local strawberries I bought yesterday. Beyond delicious. Speaking of berries, only about 3 weeks to all the blackberries I can eat. Even with squirrels, birds, and bears, there are more than enough for all of us to feast. And feast I do.
As my supernova yellow cycling shell is more the shade of a black hole now, I just ordered a cherry red Endura one. Not that easy to find, but BikeINN has a good variety at good prices. I will reorder the pink jacket too as mine is starting to show a bit of wear. I love that color, and it is also the most functional I have ever seen.
BTW - bicycle is just great now post last repair. The guy at the shop also adjusted and lubed a few things. Rides now better than new. Will easily put another 1,0000 miles it this summer, and of course will need new tires by then. Note that running shoes are cheap compared to cycling gear. But cycling is so much fun and gives me great joy.
Off for my ride where I will be planning my new life. So wonderful to finally be there. - Claire

Yesterday DH and I ended up walking an hour around the lake. Then i came home and mowed 45 minutes and trimmed hedge for 30. Today I mowed the back yard-30 minutes and about 20 minutes of weeding. Oh and house cleaning which is my least favorite exercise. After a shower i am offto Costco for a few more steps.

Did a yoga DVD and some abs this morning.
I knew my (now deceased) elderly cat was peeing on the carpet (because I was always scrubbing it out), but I didn't realize the extent until we started to rip out the carpet......we are now pulling up and replacing some of the sub-flooring that has obviously been peed on . I am HOPING that, since it was trapped under the carpet and carpet pad, to visitors, our house did NOT smell like a giant litter box. OMG!!!!!

falconer- hope you are feeling ok.
Lilac- it is a frightening time in our country. I don’t even recognize it anymore.
Ruth- our Y is offering water Zumba now too. They call it Liquid Z. Very good, splashy workout.
I have just caught up on here...again. Got sick at the end of May with a 4 day high fever, chills, body aches followed by weeks of coughing. Ugh. I had just finally gotten back into an exercise routine following the loss of my MIL. Pushed through the end of the school year but have had no exercise to speak of in the last few weeks other than 12-14 hour work days. I just need to go in to finish some paperwork tomorrow and I am done. I am hoping to be efficient so I can get to Zumba tomorrow afternoon. I need to move this body!! Summer schedule will definitely help.

Visiting my DD#1 and SIL in Toronto...very wet morning....tried to go for a walk, but raining too much so came back. We went to Niagra Falls this afternoon and rode the boat and the sky ride. The last time I was in Niagra Falls was in 1976 with my DH who then was my boyfriend....we weren't even engaged yet...and I remember my Dad asking me "how was my honeymoon" 42 years later its still a fun memory for both my DH and I...DH brought it up when we were talking this evening. Friday my daughter and I went hiking...not sure what we are doing tomorrow, then I fly home tomorrow night....lots of great pictures. Love mother/daughter time together.

Karen we were only 1.5 hrs away from you. We had horrible cold rain all day, but hopefully you enjoyed the falls. Have a safe trip home!

Ginger, so sorry it's been a difficult year. Hope you get some breathing space this summer. I remember last year you took a group to Vancouver. This year you deserve to take yourself somewhere good!

badger- what a beautiful newspaper article. Thank you so much for sharing with us.
Our March for humanity and empathy was cancelled Saturday afternoon due to severe thunderstorms. We plan on rescheduling in the next week or two. Tomorrow is my CT scan and mapping to begin radiation treatments. I'm not concerned with the CT scan but that could all change tomorrow. My anxiety will probably come from waiting for the results. LOL Having chemo finished is such a feeling of relief and joy. Side effects have been minimal. I was able to get in a 3 Mile run yesterday evening in between raindrops . I'm 6 months overdue for my teeth cleaning. I will check with my Mo on Friday for permission. I was told during chemo not to have any dental cleaning or work done. As well as no pedicures or manicures. I only lost one toenail from chemo. My nails look very raggedy though. Have a great day and keep moving.

Hello all- just finishing up my 3+ weeks post-chemo and pre-radiation. Radiation starts this afternoon, heavy sigh. But, as the MO predicted, I've been feeling stronger and stronger as the chemo recedes in the rear-view. Whew, glad that is over, but today I have a deep trepidation about radiation. So far I have had this trepidation before every new treatment, and they have all been easier than I made them out to be in my head. Hoping that is the same case for the next 6 weeks.
Anyway I've been riding hard on my mountain bike- 4 good days in a row left my legs and glutes tired for sure. But I feel as strong as last fall, and ready to get even stronger for https://www.grandtarghee.com/event/2018-pierres-ho... I just hope that radiation doesn't foil those plans. My 4 training days started with a shorter technical day with just the dog, then day 2 was a long technical day with a friend where I rode a bunch of punchy hard climbs that I don't always get clean. Day 3 was with DH and dog- another long technical day that started with heavy legs but I worked through it. Day 4, yesterday, was a good climb with strong girlfriends who pushed me, even with tired legs I am too competitive to let it pass. Ha!
The wildflowers are AMAZING this year.

Dear Homemade,
I was a bit more tired towards the end of radiation, but was able to do 2 different 45 mile rides the two weekends following. So I would go ahead with my plans. This will force you to keep pushing. My medical team was ready to help out with any extra bandaging in case of radiation burn, but this proved unnecessary. Congrats on getting back to training. Major important for all things, and the latest research appears to point to exercise making the chemo more effective. This is being tested right now in clinical trials.
Good luck with the BIG RIDE!! - Claire

jo and homemade: best of luck with radiation!

Wonderland, your DD Is lovely!
I am sore today as we took two separate 3 mile hikes. And worked in the garden! I'm at Day 10 since surgery and ready for some movement. But alas, my body is slow to bounce back.
Ruth, and other booklovers, I started The Overstory by Richard Powers. Wow! I can't put it down.

I did something today, that I've never done before....I said I would be bumped from flight home and get one tomorrow morning for $800 and being put up overnight....Its $800CDN so $600 US. Its not a flight voucher but cash!!! They put me up at a Radisonne by the airport and $15 voucher, so I'm enjoying a beer.....I had made a sandwich to eat on the plane. My flight is first thing in the morning...Missing my DH. Great day with my DD#1, we drove about 1/2 hour from Toronto to Port Credit in Missasauga...beautiful area and great weather....I walked before she was up, so I've walked 27K today....
Sweet dreams..

enjoy your adventure karen
Falconer, 10 days is still in the acute phase of tissue healing. Take it easy!
Did an hour of aqua aerobics. The teacher is odd, but in a good way. He's teaching a body condition class tomorrow, so I'll go for that.
Say prayers for my BFF. She took care of me when I had all 4 of my surgeries. Her DH has a odd growth removed near his gall bladder. Just got out of a 6hr surgery. Prayers it is benign

Congratulations Jo and Salsa, on finishing chemo. I actually felt my energy starting to come back during radiation, hopefully you will have the same experience. Even if you don't, it will start to come back once you are done. Yea!
Gorgeous, gorgeous pictures, Wonderland!!!
Don't rush the healing, Falconer. I will look for the book. Thanks.
Karen, that sounds like a pretty easy way to make some money!
Let us know how your friend's DHs surgery turns out. Very scary.
I did another yoga DVD this morning. You may remember that my favorite teacher closed her studio and the activity center where I take my other classes is short on yoga at the moment; one teacher just had rotator cuff surgery, one just had a baby, and the other offers classes a couple times a week at 5 am (I'm not doing ANYTHING that early!) and only one evening class. So, sadly back to the DVDs for me. Anyway, we worked the whole rest of the day on the house, then I went to Zumba, came home, worked some more and am now finally sitting down at 9 pm. So much work! My Fitbit just told me that I have walked The Great Wall of China and I believe it!

Did a half hour muscle mix class followed by 45 min step aerobics.
On day 3 of 18 rad treatments. Hoping to keep up my exercise

Ginger- what a whirl wind time you have had! The light is at the end of the tunnel...can you see it now???
Karen- I have always wanted to go to Niagara Falls. DH and I have talked about it many times. He lived on NY as a child and went many times. Maybe we will get there soon! Enjoy your DD time and the $$!
Falconer - how are you feeling? I should have the results from my endometrial biopsy today or tomorrow. ...positive thinking ONLY! ;O)
Jo & Salsa- Whoot! Whoot! Getting closer to the finish line!
2Fun- prayers for your friends DH! Waiting is the hardest part!
Ruth- you are always on the move!! I wish I could go to zumba again! There were 3 classes less than a mile from my house and I could take my girl with me. She loved going! All the classes were canceled oddly enough the week before my BC diagnosis! I just dance around the house all day long. Now that the pool is ready I get in there and walk & swim for a hour!
Carol- keep moving!!
Wonderland - I loved the pictures! Your DD is gorgeous! That's my kind of wedding!

Just caught up on all of your lives - Back from a lovely week camping at Assateague. Nice walks on the beach, beautiful sunsets, ponies in the campground and on the beach. My DD and her husband came with her newborn and 3 olderstep kids for 3 nights in a tent! More power to her. My older DS and his wife came for one night, and good friends were also camping there, so all in all it was a great week, despite some rainy days. Will try to post a picture or two later.
Back home, cleaning up from camping, and getting ready for lots of company the next couple of weeks, so my steps will be good today. I am exhausted! We might ride bikes down to the beach for dinner, taking advantage of the long evenings.

60 min of stretch and strengthen. I was late for class so I had to stand next to the teacher!
My friends husband did well with surgery, and he's up today walking around. He'll be in for at least 5 days! Thanks for all of your prayers!

Varga, four of my old students, who are now grown up ladies & live in group homes, come with their staff to my morning Zumba & have more fun than anybody!! You should ask WHY they cancelled the classes!
Sounds like a fun time, Pat. Looking forward to the pictures.
Good news about your friend's DH, 2Fun.
Falconer, here is another great book: Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. I couldn't put it down. It is poignant, has a great message, and made me laugh right out-loud. A pretty rare combination!
Speaking of Zumba, that's where I was this morning. Ran around getting more renovation supplies, including a new sander because ours died. I walked the puppies & am going to Book Club tonight.

2Fun and Varga, thanks for the encouragement. Varga please do let us know the biopsy results. Hoping it's all clear.
Thanks Ruth. I love to laugh out loud-especially when reading books, which reminds me of something I just read on Richard Powers website. Here it is:
"Reading may be the last secretive behavior that is neither pathological or prosecutable. It is certainly the last refuge from the real-time epidemic."

I went to a power pump class this morning. I am still undergoing radiation so use free weights and none onmy treatment side.

Got home this morning. Went for a walk after lunch...it was 96...like a furnace....Needed to drop off our ballots, so decided to walk then stop at the grocery on the way home.....I was nuts to walk in that heat, but I got my steps in. We were at a neighbor's for dinner and just got back so not sure if DH and I will walk tonight. It nice to have my Fitbit Alta HR again. It really is a motivator to walk.
Ruth...I just googled the book and it looks like a great read....need to see if I can find a good deal on it. Just finished reading the Bamboo Cradle and BossyPants by Tina Fey.

My goodness I turned around twice and two weeks had flown by but I have been keeping up with my exercise schedule.
Loved all your vacation pictures Ruth and Wonderland what a beautiful and colorful wedding, your DD looks like you. Pat glad you got to see your DGS again.
I did 2 Sprint classes today, I actually got up and did a 5.30am class, so not like me but I woke up at 4am and thought to myself "why not" and boy I can't believe how many people are in the gym at that hour and then did my regular class tonight.0 -
Cheryl, off to OneLive SD? Pat, camping with new grandbaby - terrific! Wonderland, wow, what a wedding and I'll bet the food was as good too. You daughter looks lovely in all her dresses. Homemadesalsa & Jo, send the best for rads completion - you ladies are awesome, you too Varga. HeidiHill, what context were the painted tits..a sign for or ? Karen, nice way to make $600. Been busy learning BB #81 (amazingly easy to learn) and rolled it out at Monday night Folkestone class, so new release week for me. Going to my last tai chi class for summer as my instructor is off to China with husband & daughter for rest of summer to study with her master. We are perfecting the 24 forms. Pilates, BB and another Pilates later this afternoon and tonight.
