Very cool ruthbru. 2Fun, yes, up your exercise routine, even a little more each day and your depression will be pushed to the background. It's doable.

2Fun, I worked for 5 more years after diagnosis so know how busy, busy that is. But what you can do is use it as an excuse (or push, if that sounds better) to get yourself out of things you don't really want to do anymore (except your actual job-lol) and into more things that you have wanted to do/try etc. and then you will feel happier. I used it to free myself up to try new things/have more adventures (big and small).....because what was the worst that could happen anyway????!!

Ruth-Great pictures, as usual. I loved Lincoln in the Bardo. What a thought-provoking book. My leisurely painting of my master bedroom has become more of a chore than a joy. I was taking my time but now I'm expecting company in a few weeks. So I have to complete my master bedroom ,go antique shopping for a new bed and reorganize my guest room. Fun fun. I am enjoying the results of my hard labor. My feet blisters have slowly healed but new ones have popped up in different places. I bought a pair of really good walking sandals so I have started walking again 1 - 3 miles daily. I am unable to run because of the blisters..Falcolner- glad you are recuperating well from your surgery. Fingers crossed that the biopsy will be negative.

Happy Father's Day to all of you with husbands fathers uncle's brother Sons grandsons, stc. My father has a bad cold today so he told the children and grandchildren to not visit today. I was sort of relieved I wasn't looking forward to the 2-hour drive over there and another 2 hour drive back. So I will go next weekend to visit. I'm headed to work today. I'm going to see 5 to 6 clients and then spend the afternoon with friends. Good day to all of you

Moth- good luck with your puppy training. In a week I I'm going to schedule training for two of my dogs. One thing about cancer. I really was forced into getting my doggy household better organized. With 7 dogs and 3 cats things had gotten a little bit out of control. My retriever Ted received extensive training for approximately 3 months. He was boarded while he was being trained. The training was successful and he's doing great. Unfortunately while he was away my big mutt Pierre who was always his submissive decided he was the boss of the household. So there's been conflict between Ted and Pierre ever since Ted return home. 6 weeks ago. The dog trainers great and he feels that the new training will only take three to four visits. So back to training. Under normal circumstances I would probably be able to resolve the issue myself. But with a low WBC, I am much more aware of not putting myself in situations where I can be scratched or bitten by the dogs and cats. It is more costly but I do feel I am regaining control of my household. That should be good for a day or two. LOL

In the time I have known her, I have found Ruth to be a curious and fun-loving individual who rarely sits still (except when dining LOL) which is why she's such a good vacation planner.

Haven't posted in a while but have been walking and gardening. Hit the gym for an hour yesterday (30 TM, 20 weights, 10 yoga stretch) on the way home from mom's. She's doing great BTW and says to tell "the girls" hello.

Back from my New England adventures and class reunion, and had the most fabulous time. I flew into Logan as it's a direct flight from Seattle, and changing planes in Newark is the worst. This gave me the excuse to visit friends on the way up and way back from Vermont. I got to see the Worcester Art Museum and Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge MA, where my friend Dottie and I had the most fabulous lunch at the Red Lion Inn which is more than two centuries old. Had a ton of seafood which is different there than in Seattle.

I got to cycle along Lake Champlain on the most glorious day. Spectacular scenery. You can rent bicycles right at the waterfront, so that is what I did. Would love to do the 40 mile, 3 ferry loop one day.

The reunion was fun, and everyone was glad that I came. I was the fittest and most glamourous, which certainly wasn't true growing up where I was the nerdy farm girl.

On the way back to Boston, I stopped in Portsmouth NH which is well worth a visit. More seafood including fresh lobster. Stayed at an Airbnb which had a water view. Spent the last night with my sister and her husband who live outside Boston. Couldn't believe how much traffic there was driving back to Logan at 5:30 in the morning!!! But I got there in good time, and amazingly didn't damage the evil rental car (which I hated and beat on several times) or myself in the process.

I can't wait for my trip to London in October. More adventures to come. Next up is the Seattle-to-Portland, so I am back in training mode. I have some hikes planned as well. So much cool stuff to do. I may fit in a swim today or tomorrow as it's getting to be that time of year. Loving the fresh strawberries and the sweet peas I got at the market yesterday. Life is good. - Claire

In reply to the topic of leakage a few pages back, I noticed that I had a bit of that problem during Taxol. It resolved itself once I moved on to radiation, and also to much more intense training for that year's Seattle-to-Portland. A problem I am happy not to have, and I think this could have a lot to do with the fact that I cycle which tightens everything in that area.

It was funny, but I noticed yesterday that my waist was expanding. I hadn't gained weight during my trip, but I only did one ride. Amazing the how ride I did yesterday made things a lot better.

About six years ago, I worked on a series of research projects for a manufacturer of protective underwear. One thing I can say is that staying on the slimmer side is really helpful here.

On another note, I had a checkup with my internist on Friday. He was thrilled to see how fit I am and that I take care of myself. So I can continue my evil ways, and more importantly, my lifestyle. Really important, as so many of my classmates can't do half the things I take for granted.

Planning on a 35 mile ride for today and another shorter one after work tomorrow. That should put me in a good place training-wise. - Claire

Claire - thanks for sharing your exp about it being an issue on Taxol specifically. Fingers crossed (or should that be legs crossed SillyHeart) that it goes away after I finish. I hear you about keeping slim & keeping everything toned. There are also some pelvic floor training programs (different than just doing kegels) which a friend told me about that also look interesting & promising.

jo - I love training. I'm a crazy clicker trainer. I plan to do agility & scent work with her & maybe RallyO. Wow you have many! I think my limit is 3 though I've done 4 when fostering. I'm down to 2 right now. Actually yesterday and today dh & I've been playing what we call crate tetris - rearranging the travel crates in the van & changing things around. The youngster is picky about which crate she rides in ... When we had 3 large dogs, getting them and us all safely in the van was an even bigger puzzle.

Badger, it is my great love of dining that makes it imperative that I'm on the move the rest of the time! Loopy

Sounds like you had a really fun trip, Claire. I think you and I are on the same wave-length. We exercise so that we can eat yummy food and are able to do whatever we want without worrying about 'are there steps involved?', 'will it be too strenuous?' and other 'old people' questions that I hope I don't have to ask for at least several more decades (and that some of my same age friends & family who haven't kept in shape are already asking). Yikes.

We did yard work this morning. DS took us to lunch, and then we went over to his house scooped up the grand-puppy (who, as a dog, was ecstatic to see us) and drove out to a local lake where she ran around for awhile. They will come back and take us to dinner at a dog friendly marina. So my painting the walls and exercise life will recommence tomorrow!

Falconer, I know I had a biopsy for endometrial thickening (and I've had it twice), but I don't remember it being very painful, just uncomfortable. Or I have forgotten, just like childbirth! The biggest shock to me was several days after the procedure, I had bleeding (like a period), that lasted for 2-3 days - it had been years since my last period, and I just wasn't prepared at work!

Been a busy couple of days getting ready to go camping at Assateague tomorrow for a week. Lots of steps loading the trailer, and just got done mowing the lawn. Looking forward to seeing good friends and family on this annual trip, even my new little grandson!

Yesterday was my 7 year cancerversary! Time flies while you are living life to the fullest. Make every day count my sisters.

Pat01- uncomfortable is how I remember it to. My uterus is tilted and my cervix is hard to get to. when I was pregnant and would go in for my check-ups my OB would tell me my cervix was in cow country! Shocked

Falconer - way easier than a breast biopsy. My doctor told me to cough when she was going to get the sample and honestly, I said "was that it"? Hope all is well.

Ruth, love how they have actors there. That would be a fun retirement job!

    Pat congrats on your cancerversary.

Claire, sounds like you had fun. I'm with you on trying to go into the senior years fighting it all the way.

Ruth, love how they have actors there. That would be a fun retirement job!

I did a short bike ride today. We had 93 degree heat by the time I headed out so I did the short 30 minute route. Came home and took a shower and headed out for BBQ father's day dinner, and now recovering from both on the couch.

Did the 35 miles I had planned today, and felt good. This is the first time that I really felt that I am up to doing the Seattle-to-Portland so the training is paying off!!!

    Lovely, Claire!

Here's my last vacation picture. On our way home we stopped in Sioux City, Iowa. My dad grew up there in the house in the picture below. My grandparents bought it when newly married and lived there the rest of their lives, and my aunt continued to live there until her death not too many years ago. When I was growing up, every summer we would go to Sioux City; catch fireflies in the front yard, make homemade ice cream on the back porch, and listen to my dad and his siblings talk about their Spanky and Our Gang childhood. I can't remember the address of any place I've lived, but I know my grandpa's address by heart, that's how special it was. (I did knock on the door and get permission to take a few photos.)

    great pix ladies!

Walked 30 mins this morning while still cool-ish then watered & weeded flowerbeds for 90 mins. Showered off the bug spray & sweat, then a nice long nap. Supper was grilled mushroom & Swiss brats and a cold beer, life is good.

no exercise today. But I have my bag packed for tomorrow. Went to the new Incredibles movie as a family. Celebrated father's day, DD's 22nd birthday, and our 24th wedding anniversary. DH and I got each other the exact same 35mm camera package! We laughed about that. DS is taking DH on a VT ski trip that he is paying for with his summer work money. DH is very out ofshape, and DS said this would be a good way to get him motivated to get exercising and eating better. DH was very misty eyed. I hope DH gets motivated to be healthier, it's hard to be the only one trying!

Claire and Ruth.., great pictures. My family has only been on this continent for about 110 years. My maternal grandfather's parents came to Canada around 1900 and he was born in 1906. My maternal grandmother came over in the early 1920s with her mother and 2 brothers but her father came 10 years earlier. My dad's parents came in the 1920s as well. They all came to Canada. I moved to the states in 1967. It always amazes to hear of families who have been her so long.

Rainy day today....nice steady rain which is much needed.....I'm continuing to go through the under the bed boxes. One had some clothes I forgot I had so of course they went into the give away box. It was a few t-shirts, shorts, bras (that I no longer can wear or need) and a zipper cotton top and "jogging" pants - I bought both right before my bilateral in 2006. I kept the pants and put them in my closet as I might wear them as jammie pants. Threw out a lot of junk that isn't needed. I think I've emptied 3 boxes. Two may days to go through "stuff"...now working on my "office" spare bedroom. It is so nice to have time to do things in the house that I don't have during the school year.

Tomorrow, I'm meeting my intern for new year and having lunch with one of Mom's care takers. I miss seeing her so it will be nice to catch. Whenever I went to see Mom, she would join us chit chatting.

    Sweet dreams. Karen

oh, Claire, you came to my neck of the woods! We travel to Stockbridge and the Berkshires quite often- it's only an hour or so from here.

Ruth, lovely story about your childhood.

2Fun, glad to hear you have great kids and an appreciated DH.

    Congrats on the cancerversary, Pat.

Jo, hope the new sandals help! Good going on the daily walking!

Badger, good to see you- sounds like a yummy meal.

Thanks for the info on the endometrial biopsy to everyone who chimed in. You make it sound so routine that you've alleviated my anxiety. I went off Tamoxifen two weeks prior to surgery so now I'm wondering if I restart or wait til after the biopsy? Calling my MO this morning.

Ruth and Clarie- love the pictures! We are not planning a big vacation this year and I so enjoy my mini-road trips from all the pictures posted here. Last year with all my BC "crap" the backyard was quite a mess with the installation of the pool and having to drain and refill it twice due to improper installation. This summer I will enjoy getting the pool and my veranda ready for years of fun!

Pat- my 3 y/o grandson is wanting to see that movie "soon bad"...his words. Sounds like you had a wonder day of celebrating!

Jo-new shoes!!! That always helps all my problems. Or at least takes my mind off of them.

Karen- my brother in law and his fiance were here (NC) fromantic Denver for a few days. He said it was cold and rainy when they landed yesterday. It was very warm while they were visiting.

MOmmy- doing laundry to but I always dry mine in the dryer.

Falconer- glad you feel better about the biopsy. What you feel is mostly pressure. I go tomorrow morning at 11:15. Last time I drover myself and didn't take anything before and it was fine. I just have "biopsy anxiety" now so give me the drugs and someone drive me!!!

The pictures I showed are from the part of my family that lived in Lamoille County VT. I have distant cousins who live on the other side of the mountain, one of whom has the same name as my father did. The French Canadian side of my family lived in Grand Isle County, which consists of a series of islands in Lake Champlain. Or they did until my great-grandfather had a fight with the priest and moved everyone to Lamoille County (and made everyone speak English and changed religion from Catholic to Congregationalist).

This side of the family came over from France with Champlain, so in North America for 400 years. I used to use that a zinger when people would boast about their Mayflower ancestors (these things were once important in New England).

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isle_La_Motte

My great-grandmother's name was Laura La Motte, and she was born in the 1860s. Her father was Napoleon La Motte. The one thing I know about her is that she was quite the teetotaler whereas my great-grandfather certainly wasn't. Somewhere back there, I am part Abnaki. One thing I do know is that I got the French complexion. Almost always, the cosmetics that suit me best are those made in France.

No grand buildings from that side of my family as they lived quite hard lives, though my great-great grandfather on that side of the family was a Civil War profiteer, going once on his own behalf, receiving $1000 for taking the place of one man and then a farm for taking the place of someone else.

I am sure that I have distant cousins there, and perhaps will investigate one day. I did visit some cousins when a young girl, but that was eons ago. Would be interesting to learn how that side of my family has fared (and whether anyone still speaks French). - Claire

Varga, understand the anxiety. Holding you in the light tomorrow.

My ob/gyn practice (where I've gone for seventeen years and birthed both my sons with them is in a state of flux; the earliest appt for a biopsy is Aug 1. Oh well. My MO was not alarmed at the report of thickening, and he does want me to resume taking Tamoxifen, I had a little holiday before stage two surgery. So, I think I'll give myself to the end of the week and then go back to the beautiful poison.

Falconer - this will be long...sorry...in March my blood work results were "post menopausal ". My oncologist called and said she was switching me to Anastrozole. I was so upset! I had only been on Tamoxifen a year and had done well. I wasn't ready for another change. I moped around and cried for 2 weeks. Then it hit me that I felt great...I wasn't hungry all the time and I wasn't tired all the time. April and May were amazing! I was so full of energy lost 11 pounds had on clothes I had not wore in 2 years. Then May 31st I started spotting. Called oncologist she had me come in for blood work. That blood work came back premenopausal. Go back on Tamoxifen and call my doctor. My NP got me right in did a pelvic exam and pap smear then she sent me for a transvaginal ultrasound. My endometrial lining is within normal limits and there is a fibroid. The endometrial biopsy is just make sure everything is ok. I spotted for 2 weeks and had a little cramping and that wouldn't have been my normal if I was actually having a period. I had not had a cycle in 17 months. I will be thankful when I get to the point that everything doesn't freak me out!!

Hope you are feeling well and enjoying your rocking chair!

Falconer and Vargadoll....wishing only good news for the both of you.

More throwing junk away...so much paper....it feels good to have the time...will do more tomorrow and then will be it till next week. Met my intern today, she is going to be great to work with. Had lunch with one of Mom's care takers....Mom had two great caretakers who became like family. They took such good care of Mom. Its amazing that people do that job for as little as they get paid. We were very lucky.

Rained most of yesterday, last night and a bit into this morning, then it started to heat up...early morning walk then walk after dinner with DH after 7:30 when the sun is not so intense. Getting my steps in. Got my new Fitbit....just need to sync it. It came with the wrong charger..the guy sent me a picture of one that looked like the correct one, and it came today, but it is too big...so for a different one. I have my charger, but going to order another one....probably not fitbit brand as its expensive but a generic one. It will be nice to have it back on my wrist and not in my pocket.

    Sweet dreams
