It is a beautiful day, isn't it Badger? Badger and I almost always have the same weather because she is just north of me. I notice we get Karen and Ruth's weather the next day, and you east coasters usually get our weather the following day, so Ginger, I'm not surprised your weather is better now. Three glorious days here but tomorrow the heat and humidity will return. That's OK, I go back to work anyway.
Yesterday DH and I went for a 36 minute walk. I could barely walk due to my 1.5 hours of weeding the previous day. So many squats! It feels 90% better today so we will go for another walk. First I have to go to Costco. They have the most delightful peaches there so I wanted to stock up on some more before they disappear.

Still hot and humid here. Humidity at about 8am is probably around 70%! We play pickleball at that hour and the sweat just pours off all of us. So yesterday after about 6 games I then went and played water volleyball. The water had been pretty warm, so not really refreshing, but yesterday it was maybe around 78-80 because we've had so much rain. I know 80 may sound high to some but to us fabulous seniors it's a good temp to hang out in the pool, though swimmers want it maybe no higher than 70. That doesn't happen because they keep our pools at 82 year round.
Just church this morning and will hang at one of the squares tonight so dancing will be the exercise for the day. Hmmm, maybe I'll go for a massage first. Sounds like a plan.
Later sculpted friends.

Hi All! Returned yesterday from a delightful trip to the beach. This is the 30th we have had a week long beach trip with my side of the family. Great weather, refreshing swims in the ocean, nice walks, and delicious food. So hard to leave! After unpacking yesterday I went for my walk/run. I've already exercised today and have been enjoying our cool low humid weather (like many of y'all are having) while reading on our new deck.

No one ever wants to leave the beach, Wonderland!
Patoo, at least you have pools. That makes hot and humid better.
DH and I ended up walking 30 minutes. I have 381 minutes of exercise this week. I'd be in great shape if I wasn't working, but alas, tomorrow I go back to reality!

Couldn't agree more, TH. I'd be in great shape if I was retired and could do more during the day. So over getting up at 4:30 a.m. to drive 75 miles to work. Give me three more years and I'm outta there!
Walked for 45 mins then watered & weeded. So nice I washed windows, too. Thought of you, Cheryl.
The heat & humidity crept in so spent a few hours doing bookwork then we made pizza with fresh pesto.
Have a great week ahead, everyone!

More laps today...followed by a well deserved hot tub soak. It is warm here, and I was surprised I felt like the hot tub...but the pool was cool (somewhere between those 70 and 80 degree marks patoo mentioned), and it is amazing how much body heat I lose after 45 - 60 minutes in the water. Such a nice afternoon!
Have a good week ahead, all. I plan to do some hiking up at Lake Tahoe tomorrow. Can't do much better than that.....

Just did a 45 minute toning DVD (it's almost midnight). The rest of the day was 'house'.Here's what my living room looks like right now.

ruth, that's an interesting "sculpture "LOL
I'm up at 530am, with my DS and DH and trying to decide what exercise to do b4 I head to the pool.

This thread just goes by so quickly - too much to catch up on, so I will jump right back in. Company gone, I'm officially tired. We squeezed a lot in to the last 10 days. Got lots of snuggle time with my little grandson, but their visit was oh too short. Plus it was unbearably hot - the older kids spent hours every day in the pool, and in the evenings we would go to the beach to escape the heat. After they left, my son and wife came, had the most delightful visit with them - we went boating, swimming, clamming, hit a vineyard, an art show, and of course our favorite restaurant. Now it is back to normal summer, meeting a friend for music on the beach tonight, and much laundry to be done today to get the house back in order. Haven't been officially "exercising", but in the summer I am just more active, most days I've hit my step and active minute goals. But now that I'm back to "normal" summer, I really should start going back to the gym to work on core and arms, etc. I feel so much better when I do that, and it has been far too long.

I'm with Pat, you gals move fast. Been gone due to laptop problem it's taken almost two weeks to get it sorted out, lost a lot of data but thankfully I had backed up my Quickbooks days before the crash, so whew on that one but my gosh all these programs that you used to be able to install using a disc now you have to download it's been very taxing on my poor brain I do have my ipad but it is slower than molasses and you type and the lag time between what you type and when it appears on the screen seems minutes, I need to invest in a new one for sure.
Have been keeping up with my classes also bought myself a weight bar and plates so I have been doing 30 minute Body Pump class On Demand 3 mornings a week - in the garage in my pyjamas. Last weekend went to San Diego for Les Mills Live and did 6 classes in one day - oh my aching feet, there was a big expo going on at the same time and I bought a very high end foot massager they also had a full body massager and if I had a spare $5000 and space to put it I'd have had that too it was impressive and felt wonderful. LB my friend who is on the TAP team got to co present Flow with Diana, at their Summit she was beside herself, she also presented a track on stage with Diana in Barre. Badger you need to come visit me my windows really need cleaning and you know the only time I clean them is when company is coming!!!!
Its been unbearably hot here as well up in the 100s, not a breath of breeze and not even cooling down at night, I sure hope it breaks soon.

Forgot to post this - for those of you who did the Southern California tour a few years ago - this is us on the top deck of the USS Midway doing Body Combat there were 800 of us up there, it was a very neat experience, I was where the yellow circle is as we had "inside" information that there were 3 stages and the young man from my area was supposed to be over on that stage - turned out they decided at the last minute to keep everyone on the main stage but that's okay we had a very fun experience and plenty of room to move around, the people who got all the way up front got to the Midway at 4.30am to get in line.

How fun, Cheryl!!!
More house stuff and Zumba. Maybe I SHOULD keep the railing and call it 'Art'.......I've seen goofier things that were supposed to be art at museums!

TH- oh no, that means the heat and humidity will hit us tomorrow. Ugh!
I scrubbed two bathrooms this morning before heading to a dr appt in Boston today. Made it home in time for Zumba. Undid all that exercise at a fundraiser for the Jimmy Fund where we had sangria and pizza. Oh well..

Well today is more housework (never ends at my house). I try to do at least a couple of things per day. Yesterday was vacuuming the living room rug and 2 loads of laundry. Today is cleaning the bathroom and sweep and Swiffer my kitchen floor (oh fun!

it was a lovely 97° yesterday evening with the heat index in Miami. I ran just over 3 miles but the humidity knocked me off my feet. I keep telling myself I need to make more adjustments for the summer heat. I'm not blaming this on Cancer, Post chemo or radiation. For the past three to four years I've had to make adjustments to my summer running schedule due to decreased tolerance for high Heat and high humidity. I've started using the treadmill and the elliptical inside my home but I prefer the outdoors. I have been doing a lot of jumping up and down during soccer matches and Wimbledon. I'll count that as exercise. Keep on moving.

hbcheryl, looks like fun. Can you bring the foot massager to Nashville? You know ruthbru wears out our feet! ruthbru, I also like your 'new' sculpture piece.
MO appt yesterday - I'm in my 10th year - NED.
Yesterday did 5 games pickleball. Our humidity is over the top. We can literally wring out our cloths from wiping sweat off forehead, neck, arms, scalp. But I think of it as getting out all the toxins so just keep drinking lots of water, especially like SmartWater. May get in a swim this afternoon but do have housework and computer work to do so we'll see.
Later sculpted friends.

Congratulations, patoo!!!
I went to Zumba this morning & will go back for Pound tonight if I get my stuff done. Since we all live far apart, the ladies of my family have a get-together every summer. Usually we go to a beach, but one of my niece's, who lives in Denver, just started a new job and can't get away; so we are going to her. Which is really nice for me because I can fly direct from the regional airport in my town and for half the price of anyplace else we would go. I leave early tomorrow and am home again Monday night. A little break from the house project. Expect some MOUNTAIN pictures!!

Cheryl, glad to read you had a terrific time at LMLSD (too funny to see the circled YOU in the back) and your friend who presented with Diana - W0W. I have two friends who bought weight bars and love pump on demand. Ruth, you and DH have a tv room to hang in? Good for you Patoo on 10 years out. Falconer, loved the adjustment workshop and only 4 of us on it (very surprised that more did not sign on) and a free regular yoga class thrown in as well . It was really good and locked in all I knew (much more confident and solid), plus, in-depth teaching tips that were not offered within the first module. HeidiHill, how was Rome?
Had a difficult morning, went to the not so far away, little village scout hall to set up my older ladies exercise class. Everything set up, waiting for folks to arrive and I called Judy, a member who had a hip replacement at the end of May, as I got a call from her DH last week that she developed a infection in the wound site and readmitted to hospital to clean out the site and get her back on track. Sadly, DH informed me that she unexpectedly died on Sunday night. Was in tears telling the other ladies, and they too were in shock, so, scooped everything back in the car, locked the hall and we decamped to Sally's house on the village green for tea and flapjacks. Judy had lived in this small Kent village all her life, raised her three daughters there as well and DH is a retired farmer. Judy was with me the first class when we started in January, asking me to include the song by Nancy Sinatra, These Boots Are Made For Walking, which we always warm-up to. Talked about that at tea and decided as a tribute to Judy, to always keep it in. We will miss Judy, that is for sure. Feeling flat and now out to teach pink Pilates.

lilac, that is such sad news. I am so sorry for your loss. ((((Hugs))))

LB so sorry for your loss, what a shock. Glad you and the ladies took some time off to process this and share. TT

I am so sorry, Lilac. That very same thing happened to DH's best friend this spring. It is especially shocking when the person loves to be active and is having surgery to improve their quality of life.....
Lilac, the TV room is filled with all the stuff from the living/dining room. Lucky for me, I'm leaving town!

I am also so sorry to read about your student/friend, Lilac. How sad.
Yay for NED, patoo!
Mommy, house work never seems to end at my house either!
and Cheryl, I love the pic and trying to find you in the circle :-)
Today I travelled between my new place in Reno and my big home in central CA, which we are slowly getting ready to put on the market...so, exercise was just packing...I did do laps yesterday again, and intended to stop up in the mountains for a walk, but I've developed soreness, swelling and a bump on the top of my foot. Dr. Google tells me it is likely extensor tendonitis. There is a easy test I can do to confirm the diagnosis, but it takes two people to do, (I try to flex the foot a certain way while someone else provides resistance...), so will need to wait until hubby is home from work later this evening. Sigh. Assuming that is what it is, the treatment is RICE and staying off of it as much as possible for about five days to a week. It can be caused by walking a lot if one hasn't been walking (I did do a lot of walking last week, not so much over the weekend though) or shoes that don't fit right (hmmm....I do want an excuse to go shoe shopping! :-)) So, anyway, until dx is confirmed I decided to skip the mountain hike on my way back from Reno (for those who don't know the geography, the road from Reno to CA passes over Donner pass, close to Lake Tahoe, and there are lots of great hikes and walks up there, including the Pacific Crest Trail, which crosses the highway near Donner pass.).
I was really looking forward to the hike because it is a good time of year for wildflowers in the high meadows. Oh well, Ruth: please send your mountain pics so I can live vicariously!

Lilac: I am so sorry about your dear friend Judy. Glad you were able to be among friends to comfort each other.
Cheryl: That is a fabulous picture! What a great time you had.
Patoo: Congratulations on 10 years! Celebrate!
Ruth: Have fun on your trip.
Octo: Sorry about your foot. You definitely don't need an injured foot right now.
Hi All! Walked/ran this morning. Picked blueberries from our bushes this evening and made a fresh blueberry cobbler. Already had two servings.

LB I am so sorry to hear of your friends passing, how sad for your group I'm glad you had each other to lean on, it really knocks the wind out of your sails when it happens so unexpectedly. Patoo woohoooooo congratulations on 10 years Octo my ex in laws lived in Placerville so I know that area its beautiful up there. Wonderland I love fresh blueberries pity I can't come over and help you eat the cobbler cause you know I' a good eater. Have a great trip Ruth, enjoy the Rockies.
Tonight did Sprint class then a trek around Costco which is a workout in itself.

Thank you ladies for you kindness; this thread is special. Octo, hope your foot pain resolves soon. Cheryl, I lived for a few years in Placerville and it is beautiful. Ruth looking forward to seeing the beauty of the Rockies. Fresh, cool overcast morning. I'm getting son to get teeth cleaned and cleared all his old clothes from the cupboards and those to charity. Big evening here with England playing Croatia. I'll be at the gym yet DH is working from home today to make sure he is home to watch. Got an announcement from our London Embassy that the orange diaper wearing balloon will be flying on Friday. Pity the Queen who has to meet this idiot. Hey ho, off to get this day going.

I'm working on not saying everything I think, so all I will say about our POTUS is, lilac, I agree with you!
Had an AWESOME aqua aerobic class yesterday. Today is driving DD around. I'm still waiting for my car repair. Broke the rear axel on June 27, and part is back ordered maybe until the end of july, or longer. I'm driving the free loaner from my dealer. Great customer service!
Have an active, adventurous day everyone!

Lilac- so sore to hear about your friend. Glad you have a group to support you. The balloon says it all.
Patoo- Happy 10 years.
Octo-I hope the foot heals quickly. That’s the last thing you need.
Ruth- looking forward to some pictures. Have fun!
Yesterday we worked on the area where we pulled out big azalea bushes in front of the house. turning over soil and digging out roots and rocks is quite a workout. Now we just need to decide what we want to plant there. We are thinking about hydrangeas. Off to water fitness in an hour.

lilac and 2fun- Re: Our POTUS, I am in complete agreement. Have a wonderful day. No running last night due to horrible thunderstorms. I worked out with resistance bands and balance balls. I felt really good afterwards.

Dear Lilac, you gave Judy so much, which is what we can hope for in life, to encounter caring folks in all the places of our lives. I'm glad the hands on adjustment workshop went well. It's another way to connect to others that deepens your capacity to help others.
I'm in Montana, solo mom, visiting my friend Kate. She and I were hired to teach English at the same school in NY at the beginning of our careers. We've shared so much friendship over the years; she's the one who intorduced me to yoga practice, she and I published an article about shared teaching spaces, we've traveled together, been through ups and downs... but I've never been to her MT home where she has lived for the past seven years.
In my travels I finished The Overstory by Richard Powers, fiction about the importance of trees, biomes, diversity in ecology, and how we must protect it. When I arrived at Kate's house, I walked into her small yard to find the loveliest Linden tree I've ever encountered. It was ripe with flowers, honeybees everywhere, fragrant, draping and beautiful. Take a moment or two to notice the trees around you. Perhaps you'll see things you hadn't noticed. "We protect what we fall in love with." Louie Schwartzberg, Nature. Beauty. Gratitude.
Happy Wednesday. ❤️
