Here's what I've been doing the last 24 hours:

    * Friday night high school football.......great and exciting game, although our team lost by two points

    * Pound in the Park this morning, a fund raiser for the United Way

    * college football this afternoon......another exciting game, which our team won by one point!

    * Pancakes and Politics, also this morning, a fundraiser for our current U.S. Senator (the lady in black in the middle of us Walking Women) and whom I REALLY want to win. She is in the middle of a tough race so it was heartening that there was an excellant turnout with lots of young people.

Ruth, I really want your candidate to win, too. Good luck to her.

Yesterday was the worst day of my cold but I did walk the dog 20 minutes and did 15 minutes of weeding. Although I wasnt at full vigor, I wanted to get out of the house and it got me up to my minimum152 minutes for the week. Hopefully a little exercise is good rather than bad when you have a cold.

Ruth, you've been busy! How cool you got to meet your Senator. She's a b/c survivor, right? I hope she wins too. I know she's in a tight race.

Went to “Spudfest" yesterday, a celebration of all things potato. It was held at a heritage farm park, so the demos were all about how things were done in the 1800s. The fest kicked off with a potato field being harvested by a horse drawn plow, then there were costumed craftspeople like a blacksmith, a broom maker, a bread maker, etc. using 1800s processes. There were also restored transportation vehicles like buggies, sleighs, covered wagons, and my personal favorite, a beautifully restored Wells Fargo stagecoach. We also sampled some of the potato-theme food, like kettle chips you watched being made, some French fries, and even potato candy. Lots of fun, and lots of good walking exercise.

They worked very hard in the olden days

NatsFan, I love historical recreations. As messed up as the world is right now, I'm grateful for the technology that's come around in the last couple hundred years.

Ruth, I hope your candidate wins, too. I used to live in Ohio and my senator, Sherrod Brown, is up for reelection and he's in a tight spot. I'd hate for us to lose him.

What fun, Mary. I can smell the potatos frying. Indeed, life was hard work in those days. Several years ago i drove through an Amish community and a gentlemam was plowing his field just like that, only with more than one horse. It was so cool to feel like you were in the 1800s.

Good onc visit, he says I can do 3 more months of Anastrazole and be done! Yay! I see him in a year. Do your oncs follow you forever? My BS let me go at 6 years. I do love my Onc, so don't mind to continue to see him. He also gave me a referral to a new Gastro guy. It's been a year and I'm still struggling with my GI issues, which up to now just gets labeled IBS. I've had a lot of tests that came out normal, and tried a lot of dietary changes, with no success. So I think it's time for a second opinion, away from my rural part of the state. The new guy might say IBS too, but I just want to be sure the first place is not missing anything.

Not getting enough exercise either - trying to regroup from one trip, and get ready for the next 2 - Labor Day weekend music festival, then my 2 weeks in England and Wales!

Friends of mine who go to a different clinic get dismissed (the triple negative lady after 5 years & the Her2 friend after 10). My clinic sees patients once a year forever or until you decide not to go back. I kind of like it; I have my general physical in November, do a mammogram in February, and see my onc. in June each year......which makes me feel like I am covering all the bases.

I need to do 45 minutes of toning before the end of the day......so I better sign off and get at it!

TwoHobbies, what kinds of activity do you count to your 150mins? Sorrry to hear about your cold. Are you doing the minimum 150min weekly bbecause of the canadian study or from some other reason? thank you

I'm actually selecting a fittness wristband now... I can't decide what I might need, so the searching and selecting takes some time.... My last AC is tomorrow, so I'm treating myself as a celebration. I hope to use the band after I recover, sometime at the end of the week 🙂

30 minute workout done on the WiiFit board. My hubby is pushing me to exercise more. He got the board and disc this weekend for me. Now I have no excuses unless I am sick to not workout.

Mommyof2, I had a lot of fun with the Wiifit. The wii ended up in my son’s room and i havent used it in a long time but maybe I should get it out.

Jaboo I turn on my app when I do “formal” walking or biking or a workout, or mowing the lawn and such. I dont clean house enough to count that, LOL. I do 150 minutes minimum because that is what the initial studies said to do when I was diagnosed 7 years ago. But then my surgeon said a newer study indicated the more the better. In the summer its pretty easy for me to get 3 to 5 hours but the winter is another story. Definitely treat yourself to any tool that will help you get motivated. Congrats on finishing up the AC.

My cold is not retreating so yesterday and today are rest days for me.

have been struggling to keep up the exercise without aggravating the sprained ankle I picked up doing the very dangerous sport of grocery shopping! Last week was my first 5 classes in a week for 3-4 weeks. I started back at school Aug 20th, ugh.

Pat/Ruth - so jealous of your long term doctor connections. I see my Onc 2x a year as I am still on Arimidex, but the BS dismissed me 3 months after MX and the PS dismissed me 3 months after exchange surgery...I feel like I live in the land of a la carte medicine. TT

the most recent study I read indicated 30-60 minutes of vigerous to moderate exercise 6-7 days a week. I think the operative word is VIgerous"

My surgeon followed me for 5 years. As far as I know, I’ll have annual onc visits as long as I want. My survivor aunt’s onc told her after 20 years she didn’t have to come back if she didn’t want to.

Jaboo - if you swim, look at the Garmin VivoSmart HR. It’s waterproof so you wear it while you swim, plus it has all the other tracking features like steps, heart rate, stair flights, and active minutes.

Pat - so smart to get a second opinion at a major medical center. Where are you going in England and Wales?

    Cardio circuit this morning.

On top of doing the 30 minute workout, I gathered up all the hoodies my hubby and I have and threw them into wash in preparation for Fall. Also cleaned the house a bit.

I spent most of the day on a computer. A good friend of mine is the librarian at the school where I used to work. They have new tech people & somehow, someone either did or did not do something, and all digital records of the 18,000 books in the library are vanished in cyberspace......which means that every single book in the library needs to be reentered in the system! ShockedSo, that is what I am helping out with. We have no idea how long it will take, but it's going to be awhile. We are doing the fiction first (which is 75% of the books so that at least kids can start checking out books for pleasure). Yikes. The good thing is that I can set my own hours, but will be there as much as I can so this can get done ASAP.

    I went to Zumba tonight.

TrmTab - I saw my BS the first 2 years after surgery - I was supposed to see her annually, but I got tired of seeing so many doctors as at that time I was still seeing my oncologist every 3 months. Stopped PS after 2 years as well for same reasons. My radiation onc dismissed me after 6 weeks and said she would get the information from medical onc so than't bt was good. Medical onc say me every 3 months till 5 years....still every 6 months and I'm 12 years out. One day I'll get the strength to tell him once a year is enough!!!

Thankfully DH is getting better. He is not 100%, but probably 80-85%. Its been a long haul. He still has at least 8# to gain back.

Haven't been good about getting out during the school day - definitely need to make it a priority again....At least I'm walking before work and in the evenings. As it gets darker in the mornings it will be harder to walk early, noticing that its not all the way light at 6. Been walking at 6:30

    Sweet dreams

Yikes Ruth!!! What they didn't do is BACK UP THE SYSTEM. This is the reason for the cloud. Hope you are being paid for this work. Carbonite is cheap compared to this fiasco. I know, as was thankful to have it about 3 months ago when my nonprofit computer died, even though my files were retrievable.

No cycling this past weekend, but lots of running and walking. Had a friend over for Sunday Lunch yesterday which was great fun. Not quite as much fun as eating leftovers today. This includes local raspberries with a custard sauce I made myself. I nailed the recipe.

I have the most fun weekend ever planned. Vineyard camping, cycling, a wine tasting of the 30 years of wines (glad I can crawl into my tent afterwards), and perhaps a ride share over to Yakima with a winemaker who doesn't own a car. There will be jazz and swing music on Saturday evening, and hopefully, I will get in a couple of good rides plus a hike of the Cowiche Canyon prior to returning Sunday evening. Also food trucks at the vineyard for some 'ballast food' such as ribs. The local grill joint does a mean breakfast including eggs Benedict.

Oil change tomorrow in prep for the adventure. Wish me luck.

Roasting veggies and sausages from Pike Place Market. Ulli makes the best. Smell dinner sizzling away..... - Claire

Just checking in and completed a week of module 2 of YTT. We finish with one more week starting October 18th. Module two was sequencing and thoroughly enjoyed it. This past weekend was a three day weekend here, so hit the ground running, teaching my own classes and cover. Start back on pink pilates next week so have this morning free for August invoicing. Feel's like autumn as it's been grey, raining and quiet our here in the hinterlands of Kent. Pat, your grandboy is so adorable. Good luck Claire.

Heading out for a run this morning. Ruth, you're a saint to help out with that task. Let us know if you find any good titles to recommend! Lilac, glad to hear your YTT is going well. Pat, that baby is scrumptious! Claire, yum! Karen and Mommy- keep it up!

Later today DS is taking his road test. I have mixed feelings, as you'd guess, but it's one of those things we can't avoid..

DS#2 called Sunday night - he had been at a wedding in NY after our family get together in DC, and was scheduled to fly back to London Monday morning, but they cancelled his flight, and couldn't reschedule him until Thursday! Not cool with his job, so he did some scrambling, and found a flight tonight out of Boston, he took the train here from NYC and for 24 hours we get the pleasure of his company again. Took him to the beach last night and had pizza for dinner at sunset - he hardly ever comes home in the summer, so he really appreciated some beach time. And today pool time, as it is unbearably hot. He has taken over the couch, tv, and living room - some things never change, even though he is 29!

Natsfan, we fly into London (and see DS#2 yet again, he will be sick of us). Spending a couple days there visiting family, then off to the Lake District for a couple of days. Then on to Bangor Wales and Snowdonia for 4 days. We have 3 more days we haven't planned yet, figured we would just wing it for the end of the trip. The main reason for the trip is to explore Bangor and search for info on ancestors - my father was born in Bangor in 1907, and for the last few months I have been looking into his ancestors. Haven't found any living relatives, but North Wales is supposed to be beautiful, so we will just soak up the Welsh scenery and Culture. My brother is also coming with us, so we will make some good memories on this trip.

Claire, sounds like a fun time! The head of the tech department died unexpectedly last spring and the librarian thinks the new person/people in charge there did not do a backup before all the big upgrades that happen in the summer. GRRRR!

Falconer, once you've scanned several thousand books, the titles are just blur together into one LONG, LONG, LONG one. I am getting paid. I am nice but not that nice that I'd spend that much time just out of the goodness of my heart!

Scanned the day away, will go to POUND, and then a high school volleyball game. No rest for the wicked!

I have been to both the Lake District and Snowdonia….just breathtaking scenery. It's worth visiting Portmerion which is an architectural folly of an Italian village built at three-quarters scale. My great-grandmother, Katie Owen, was from Wales. As for what to do with the remaining 3 days, I would spend them in Shropshire and Gloucestershire, prior to returning the car at Heathrow. Gorgeous scenery in both places too, plus wonderful eats. I have tested this last statement extensively.

It's quite the experience to be withdrawing pounds from the ATM with the primary language being Welsh. I also loved hiking (the English call it "walking") up the mountains. Spectacular vistas.

Got a lot of exercise in today walking from office to car repair and then to the ATM as down to $1 in change. Unfortunately, Rexxie's 120k maintenance is due (seems like I just did one of these!!!) which will require dollars. Oh, the joys of automobile ownership. But at least I don't need a new car, just have the routine work done. Did an oil change and replaced 2 belts today. A car that's 15 years old really doesn't owe me anything. And the work should get Rexxie and me ready for winter driving to the ski trails.

I will get this done during my NYC trip and save Uber dollars coming back from the airport, so one consolation.

Otherwise, really looking forward to my weekend adventures, and Rexxie is also good to go! - Claire

Strength circuit yesterday, cardio circuit today.

I need some advice from those who go to a fitness center. The fitness center I’m going to now has 3 TVs, which are usually turned to a low volume so that only the folks near a particular TV hear that one. Also, most people are really good about asking the people around them if it’s OK to change the channel. However, there’s one woman who comes in, changes the channel to the one she wants asking anyone, then ups the volume to the point where it drowns out the other TVs. Usually I have headphones on, but even then I have to turn the volume higher than I’d like to so I don’t hear her TV. But today I forgot my music so I had no choice to listen to her channel the whole time I was there, and it was not a channel I would have picked. Really annoying! I think I’ll ask the front desk to put all the TVs in closed caption mode so that no one has to turn the volume up. That’s the way it’s been done at other places I’ve been to. What do you all think? I’ve never run into anyone that rude before

Thanks Claire for the travel tips! DH and I are to sit down today and finalize our plans, but he's nowhere to be found at the moment!

I'm in a fitbit challenge with some family and friends, and I'm second from the bottom, so I better get some walking in today - but it's so unbearably hot!

A tip to those trying to exercise in hot weather. The only way I was able to finish this year's Seattle-to-Portland was to hose down from head to toe. That cooled my core, and I was just fine. I learned that growing up in VT where I did farm work and would be stacking hay on really hot days.

However, I don't think I will need that tip again this year as it's just delightful here, with temps still in the 50s going up to about 70. Love this weather, and now very autumn-like. England and Wales are just lovely this time of year. One of the things I love doing is finding a tea room with a garden and having tea and scones outside. Hoping to do this at Kenwood House in London.

Need to get it in gear and start my work day. - Claire

Nats, I would go to whoever is the manager of the fitness center and let them know what happened and ask if there is anyway they can prevent this situation from happening again, like enabling the closed caption option on the tvs.

Hubby ordered me to go to Dunkin' Donuts this morning after my workout since its going to be the worst of the three day heat wave. So I did and got myself a large unsweetened iced tea with lemon.

    Scanned books, walked puppies, Dance2Fit.

Any gym I've been to has closed captions. I can't imagine anyone coming in and changing the channel of a TV someone is watching without asking the person/people already there if it's okay. I'd talk to management first.
