    Jo: Serenity is PRECIOUS!

Falconer: Congratulations to your dd and her team! That's impressive.

Nats: Sorry you've been sick and glad you're feeling better. Silly bears.

Welcome Nomaddd! Like Ruth said, better wait to get clearance from your doctor. Keep us informed!

Ruth: Oh no! I can't imagine how your dh is feeling.Thank goodness for the blood thinner. So scary.

Runner: Those picture are fabulous! I really like the one with Santa's suit and ornaments. I may have to steal the idea from you if that's okay.

Ellyn: It always feels good to clear out clothes, etc.

Our warm weather has disappeared. A cold rainy day is what we had on Friday and today. Saturday I went to our Veterans Day parade. My favorite parade of the year. Later that day I hosted an early Thanksgiving gathering for dh's side of the family. Last year we went to Cracker Barrel for the gathering. It was so crowded and miserable that I said I would cook the whole damn meal next year and invite everyone over. Well, it's the next year and I didn't have to cook the whole damn meal as others also cooked some dishes but I did host it. So much better than sitting in a crowded restaurant!

Our heat went out on us yesterday morning. I walked/ran in the afternoon which helped me to stay warm. The house got really cold last night. Luckily the heat man came out today and fix it. Even better, the part that needed to be replaced is still under warranty!

Tonight I served dinner with church members at the homeless shelter. Puts everything is perspective.

    Precious baby...

Nomadd - these ladies have given you good advice.

So many of my friends have grandkids - notice I use multiple.....My oldest daughter has been married for 9+ years. Hopefully one day she will be blessed with children.

25 degrees today and snow for the morning commute. Warming up as the week goes on. Spent all day working on reports. I'm supposed to test two kiddos tomorrow, but I think I'm going to cancel the afternoon one so I can finish all my reports. They always take more time than I expect.

Only 1 walk today....I've been a wimp with the cold, cold weather!!!

It's 19 degrees this morning with an expected high of 29 brrrrrr. I'm meeting a friend for coffee and after that I plan to walk while the sun is out (she's not a walker). Did my 1 hour aerobics yesterday and tomorrow is a 2 hour class. That class is my favorite, the first hour is a core class and the second hour is a mix of aerobics and weights while sitting on this big ball. It's at the cancer center and there's a really nice group of ladies.Have a good day everyone :)

Ellyn-Have a great day of exercise. On my drive to work this morning, I saw a beautiful double rainbow. I pulled offf the expressway and took a couple of minutes to enjoy the view. What a great way to start the day.

A friend came over yesterday evenung and we spent 5 hours dragging out my Christmas crates to start decorating for Christmas. Another 20 crates to drag out during the next week. I put up a lot of Christmas decorations but my real tree goes up the day after Thanksgiving. I already had my Thanksgiving dinner last week. About a dozen friends came over and we had a great time. The outdoor lights are a real challenge. I'm always up to a challenge.

My favorite thanksgiving meals have been on alternate days. One year we did a thanksgiving dinner with all it's fixings in July. There's less pressure.

Yesterday I was looking out at the brown air trying to decide if the gym would be safe for a work out ( I can smell the smoke inside) when I got a call to come into work for overtime. It helped make my decision. Made $ instead of exercise.

On the news they are saying not to go outside or exert yourself. Now today I'm in the same predicament, sitting here trying to decide.

Tomorrow I head down to San Francisco for areola tattoos and am going to meet up with sister before and walk to the top of Twin Peaks. So at least that's covered.

Ended up doing the class. Felt so good! And now my breast seems to look a bit better too. The docs had said you can exercise but take it easy. :)

Thank you for your advice as well as all you other ladies out there I switched my pill two mornings today. Have a great day!

I went to POUND this morning & back to HIIT (high intensity interval training) tonight. I went back for the second class for two reasons:

    1. The AARP magazine recommends that people of a certain age (ie me) add some interval training to their exercise program.

    2. I went to a meeting this afternoon and I ate a VERY large piece of pumpkin dessert!

I finally decided to commit to a regular exercise routine that I think I will continue. Leaving work at 3:10 so that I can walk before it gets dark. For four days in a row, I have walked the trail on my property that includes a couple of inclines. Already it is getting a little easier to go up the hills. I then go down the driveway and back at a brisk walk. I also cleared out one of dd’s bedrooms for an exercise room. We have a little tv with a built in VHS player so I am now thrift shopping for exercise tapes. I found an early Jane Fonda one that is basically the forerunner to Zumba, just with different music. One of the exercisers actually sings while aerobicizing. Lol.

I really enjoy coming here and reading all the wonderful posts and getting motivated. Congrats to all those getting in their exercises. Peregrinela, I had a little chuckle about your Jane Fonda comment and your VHS tape. I recently found my "steps" that I purchased loooooooong ago that she had sold along with a book and vhs tape. For some reason I kept the steps, maybe I'll start using them!! There are ALOT of exercise videos on YouTube if you want to exercise from your computer. Denise Austin has some easier ones. I've been doing some by HASfit when I can't make it to exercise class. Today is the 2-hr class at the cancer center, can't wait!! Nice and sunny today. Have a good day everyone.

ruthbru - pumpkin is healthy haha!!! My bday is in November and I much prefer pumpkin pie over a bday cake. I'm a hobby baker and won't eat cake that's store bought because I know what they put in it. But pumpkin anything, well, I just can't help myself :)  I'm already looking forward to January when all the food and goodies are gone and I can get back to the resolution I make every year.

Nomaddd if you've been doing Orangetheory you're probably super fit and I know you've done the class but I'd really check with your doctor Orangetheory is crazy and most of us when we got cleared had to build back starting with gentle walks or for me it was the boring recumbent bike.

Wonderland when you think of CB do you think of meeeeee Happy nice that people pitched in and you didn't have to prepare the whole meal. Lucky about your heating, my washing machine bit the dust and it's $500 to fix it, it's a Maytag so I'm debating whether or not to repair or just get another one, and typical as to what my life is like, we had a Sears appliance store near me that closed up shop a few weeks ago and everything was 50% off ughhhhhhhh

Patoo sorry about your car, such a hard decision to make.

Ellyn your class sounds like it would be fun.

Jo the baby is beautiful and what a gorgeous name. Wow you sure have a lot of Christmas decorations but I'll bet your place looks wonderful when everything is up.

Falconer congrats to your DD and her team, great accomplishment.

Ruth thank you for the pics they are fantastic. Sorry to hear about your DH lucky they caught it before it broke off, he should consider himself very lucky.

I know lots of you are freezing but we're still boiling, these Santa Ana winds are hellacious, more fires breaking out. The area where I went to that wedding a few weeks ago was in the path of the Woolsey fire so sad to see all the devastation both in Southern and Northern California.

I've been keeping up with my classes, last night did a Spin class and I've done a couple of Body Combat classes but I've been neglecting my weights which I need to get back to.

I am getting lots of steps today. Walked in a mall with the Walking Women (and checked out the new store, we are a small town so are always happy for more retail opportunities), then walked the puppies (their masters couldn't get home at noon), then cleaned out the garage with DH, now will help drag some stuff to the landfill, and then go to Dance2fit. Whew!

Thanks, Ellyn. I will look for Denise Austin as I like her exercise routines. Hope you enjoyed your class. I would attend something like that if it was offered here. Yes, the fires are devastating and I hope there is relief soon. Ruth, have they said how long your DH will be on blood thinners? After my DVT/pulmonary embolism, I was on warfarin for a year then asked if I could switch to baby aspirin. (I had difficulty being consistent with my diet regarding leafy greens vegetables.). Today is my off day for exercise, but I walk about 5,000 steps a day at school.

Oh that blanket/wrap and matching hat with bow on the baby is priceless. She is beautiful. Yesterday I went to my 2 hour exercise class and by the second half I was feeling kinda punk. Today I wanted to go to yoga and a nutrition class but I think I will skip the yoga. My son has a slight cold and am thinking I may have a touch of it, OR I just need some sleep. I don't sleep well on my meds.

Peregrinela, my Mom was on warfarin and was supposed to stay away from most greens. Growing up we always had a salad with dinner and lots of green veggies. That would be a hard one for me to give up also.

ruthbru - I love that pic with your group of walking friends. I need to get a group like that going. I think our indoor malls open before the shops open and welcome the walkers. Great idea.

Continued prayers for those near the California fires.

    Baby pictures are always welcome!

DH sees the doctor again next week. His whole family has a history of blood clots so I think maybe he should see a hematologist. He will have some questions to ask, that is for sure.

I went to Zumba this morning, and was planning on a dog walk this afternoon and a yoga class tonight. But it started snowing like crazy at noon and was getting really icy so I just came home and did a yoga DVD.

60s today in Denver and snow tomorrow!!

I'm officially on Thanksgiving break (I don't generally work Fridays). So excited to have the week off to relax and recharge. I have to finish up the work for a class that is due on the 28th. Lots that I want to get done in the house - dusting, wiping down walls and all the fun stuff that I never have time to do. Will some how productive I am.

We are doing Thanksgiving dinner on Wednesday night as DH leaves on Thursday to go see his mother. Not looking forward to Thanksgiving as the past two years we took dinner to my mother's apt. Last year she was bed bound, but her aid got Mom up in a chair and we all had dinner together. And the 3 years before that Mom came to us one she was in Denver. I've just been missing Mom so much lately. Its almost 10 months. And next Wednesday is my uncle's 80th birthday and he passed away the end of September. I think its been so much harder now with both gone.

Counting the time till I go see my daughter...5 1/2 weeks - can't wait to see her. She will be busy with school, but we will have dinners together and the week-end (Friday and Saturday).

Time to get busy - need to get my TSH labs drawn, grocery story, cook and clean. Have a great Friday and week-end. Karen

karen1956 - After reading your post, I'm sending you hugs. Holidays are supposed to be about family and being thankful. But it's also painful for those that have lost family or don't have one to go visit. My Mom passed 10 years ago and my Dad 8 years ago. Even though I spend holidays with hubby's family, I miss mine so very much. I do have wonderful memories and that gives me peace. I recently read a saying "My Mother taught me everything I know, except how to live without her". She was my best friend and I am so very thankful to have had her in my life.

I'm not going to my exercise class today ... being lazy. Is it possible to exercise so much that your body hurts? It's not like I do it every day. Maybe the weather is just getting to me. I have lots of errands to do so I'll be busy and hopefully get plenty of steps in. It's supposed to warm up a bit (40s) this weekend and I'm hoping we can get our outside holiday decorations up. Have a good weekend everyone.
