nomaddd, when I was about to start Arimidex, a friend who was already on it gave me the advice to "keep moving, keep moving, keep moving"; so I did and that definitely helped my body adjust.
2FUN, are you drinking tons of water? I have to watch out because I usually get a UTI in December......but I think it is because I overdose on sweets during the Holidays (a friend of mine just gave me a pan of Scotcheroo bars as a thank you and, to my great credit (LOL), after eating half the pan in two days, I threw the rest in the garbage (and smashed icky things on top so I can't dig them out again).
Right now I am going to put on an abs DVD and then either walk on the treadmill or do some dance DVD, and then venture forth and FINISH my Christmas present shopping. Yea!

lilac- I just received my book be coming in the mail yesterday. Looking forward to reading it

yes ruth, I drink 4 -6 of my 28oz bottles full of water every day. I also do every other supplement possible. I do have to say I have made great progress in eliminating sweets, but I need to step it up a notch. Get rid of foods that promote inflammation. The AI s don't help either!
I did 30 min on the treadmill and 10 lifting weights. Better than I thought I would!

One of my best friends is an anesthesiologist and the same age as me. She asked me today how I was feeling today and I went like so-so. So my friend asked what was wrong....I was telling her about the groin pain and the burning pain when I sit in the pelvic area...she told me she thinks its from my back and its nerve pain. I have been putting off going to the doctor for a couple months but think I will go now. I just feel like crying.....I'm only 62 and I have stage 3 CKD and now all this other stuff....I had a MRI of my back a couple years ago and it showed degenerative disk disease. I told my friend I felt either that my doctor would laugh at me saying it was nothing or tell me it was something really serious. GF made me feel a little better so I'm going to make an appt with my PC...GF said a nerve block would help. I just feel overwhelmed that there has been so much in 2018...loosing my mother, my uncle, my aunt broken vertebrea. I'm not really having a pity party....I know I'm basically healthy, but I'm tired of all these things......Will keep you posted. BC, the gift that keeps on giving!!
Only 3 more work weeks....and 24 days till I leave to see my daughter (not that I'm counting)!!!
Sweet dreams

Aw Karen, you have had a crappy year. If they can give you something that will make you feel better, it's worth a trip to the doctor. You'll want to be in good form for your upcoming trip.

I have discovered something new to be grateful for. I keep track of such things because when I'm feeling down, it helps to have some good things lined up to offset whatever bad things are bothering me. Anyway, it occurred to me recently that although my neuropathy is a pain in the butt, and I have little strength, even less stamina, and my balance and coordination sometimes seem to be on a permanent vacation, I still have reflexes! And that is a very good thing because my lack of strength, stamina, balance, and coordination has meant that over the last few months I have often thrown myself off balance just by turning without a cane or something else to steady me. (I have a cane, but I don't really need it, so I quit using it more than a month ago. I refuse to go back to it.) I'm making progress, but it is super slow, and sometimes if I'm tired or just feeling extra clumsy, I nearly topple over if I try to turn quickly. Nearly -- but not actually! Clearly, my reflexes are in working order, preventing me from hitting the dirt a dozen times a day. Yay, reflexes!

karen, have you had a good ortho PT look at your back/neuro pain? There is an amazing husband /wife PT team that I trained with that lives in Co Springs. They have trained people around the world and they are the most G-d gifted clinicians I have ever met. Their business is called Institute of Physical arts, and they have a website so you can locate a therapist near you. I would think there are people in your area who have trained with them. I was in pain for years after a head on car crash, and was very hopeless until I was treated by one of their best trainers. It not only changed my.life, but it changed the direction of my therapy practice. Lmk if you need help contacting them. They have people all over the world, so any of you may benefit! Hugs!

2Fun, thanks. I will look them up
A good friend of ours passes away Friday at 84. I tell you this man has 9 lives! He had so many near death times that hey didn’t think he’d make it. The last few months had been hard. His with is one of the sweetest ladies I know. All 4 children were with him as was his with when he died. The rest of the family is coming in, spouses and grandchildren. The funeral is at noon today. I am helping with dinner tomorrow. Making latkes for 24 people - oh my what was I thinking!
First night of Chanukah is tonight. I miss having kids at home. I don’t put out my Chanukah things but as I’m writing this maybe I should! Two years ago I was visiting Miriam in Jerusalem and wow that was an amazing experience.
Only in the 30’s today, hope the sun comes out as it will make feel warmer.
Have a good Su

karen -Happy Hanukkah. I'm not Jewish but I do put up decorations for Hanukkah. Tomorrow evening I'm going to cook dinner for my Jewish and non Jewish friends. I'm going to do a brisket , latkes and matzo ball soup . I'm only doing latkes for 8 people. I would never volunteer to do it for 24 people .LOL You've had so many losses in 2018. Losing your mother is heartbreaking. Hopefully seeing a doctor to address your nerve pain will prove beneficial. 2019 will be a better year for all of us.
Rockymountaingirl- I wouldn't discount the cane as " never again". While you are in the process of recuperation it could prove to be more beneficial to use an assistive devise. Sorry for the mini-lecture it's the therapist in me. I too am thankful for your good reflexes.

Put up at least some of your decorations, Karen. If you are like me, just having the holiday things up makes me feel happier. Especially if they involve lights and sparkle.
I went to POUND this afternoon and walked around the track for awhile. My fitness center is having a big benefit 3on3 kids basketball tournament this weekend, so it was fun to watch all the little kids running around on the gym floor below (they had 8 games going on at once, so it was organized chaos!).

Jo6359, you do sound like a therapist! You will be pleased to know that I have consulted a physical therapist about the neuropathy, and I have followed her advice to walk carefully and with attention to good form while my strength, stamina, etc. are sub-par. I used to need my cane just to walk from point A to point B, but I am now able to walk semi-normally without it. I'm slow, and I'm sure I look clumsy, but I am in no danger of falling as long as I'm paying attention to what I'm doing. It's when I thoughtlessly turn too quickly or do something else that throws my balance off that my reflexes have to rescue me. At home, where I can do it safely, I've been practicing doing things that mess up my balance, like turning and stepping up and stepping down. I've made some progress, so I hope to be able to let my reflexes take a much-needed vacation soon. But for now, they sure are a big help when I get overtired or when I get careless! And I do keep the hated cane in my car, so if I ever decide that a planned expedition might be more of a challenge than I can handle without help (climbing Mt. Everest, competing in a marathon, spending several hours in the local mall during the Christmas shopping season . . .), it is available.

Ruth - I put a few things out on the table where we light the menorah - its different only having one - my husband lights the menorah for the two of us.
Bake sugar cookies and peanut butter with kisses this afternoon.....Also made about 100 potato latkes.....I age a couple while couple.....these are for my friends that I'm helping with dinner....my DH is not crazy about them, so unless my son wants me to make some for us, I'm done for the year.
I was so excited today - my supervisor was due December 13th but she had he baby yesterday - her FIL posted pictures on fb and tagged her......Its he first baby.....
7:20 meeting tomorrow morning with a parent....

my DD had her first chanukah celebration yesterday. They made latakes together and I bought chocolate gelder (sp) for them.they hadfun!
We went from 20 F to 56F yesterday with SUN! so I was outside a bit of the day raking amid the remaining snow piles. Never got to the Y.
Back down to 32 and snow today. DS called last night and he'll be home in 2 weeks once finals are done. It will be nice to have an extra set of hands for the heavy lifting. I'm starting with AI symptoms again. First 2 I tried it was bad right away. This time it's hitting me around the 6 month point. I can deal with the hand pain, but the foot pain is really the pits. I also notice depression sneaking in, so I need to keep an eye on that. I'm planning for exercise at the Y every day after work. I've got my gym bag ready to go into the car.
DH has had 3 interviews each, for 3 different jobs. They are taking their time making decisions....Pray please that one of these works out to be a tangible offer. I see the frustration starting to creep in for him.
Have a good week everyone!

rockymountaingirl- I've been a registered occupational therapist since 1983. You are doing everything right. Good work!

2Fun, hoping for the best for your DH. Good luck getting to the Y every day! Just don't let the car drive in any other direction except there!
Yoga yesterday morning. Today, feeling sluggish. I've been staying up late on Sunday and Monday eves to watch "My Brilliant Friend" on HBO. I loved the novels, and the series is terrific. If you are interested in Italian life, it's so true!
Happy Chanukah Karen and all who are celebrating. 100 latkes- that is an amazing feat

Just retired, joining in to stay motivated and so I don't gain weight! Did a step class followed by a yoga class today.

Welcome Mickey!
Keeping my fingers crossed for your DH 2FUN.
Happy Hanukkah, Karen. I wish I could sneak over and eat some of your creations!
I subbed this morning, got ALL my packages in the mail this afternoon, and went to Zumba tonight. Now to attack the Christmas Cards.

glad you're having a sunny day. It's beautiful here today but a little warm in the high 80s. I plan on running three or four miles tonight. We're supposed to get cooler weather tomorrow. I think it's supposed to hit 70 for tomorrow. Hallelujah

Got to the gym Sun/Mon/today...now off to NYC on business Wed-Friday. The highs will only be in the high 30's, which for me is cold...sorry Ruth. Taking my long down coat, my heaviest...a Land's End "commuter coat"
It is DH's b'day on Thursday so he will come up and we can enjoy NY dressed up for Christmas...he has never seen it. Going to Rockettes on Friday night, the big tree and will go to Macy's to see Santaland!
Did my pre-admissions intake and testing for my exchange surgery on 12/17...I passed ;-)
New Dr, new hospital...very impressed.
I now convert into a walking machine until I return on Sunday. Best, TT

TRM- yay for the exchange! Glad you were impressed by the hospital.

Thanks Falconer...excited, nervous, all the emotions. This will be my 5th surgery so you would think it gets easier...when I woke of from my first exchange in Sept 2017 and found the PS had put the wrong kind of implant into me(!) "sorry, there are so many of you gals I forgot to check my notes" !!! I knew I would need another exchange. Soooo ready for it.

trmtab- have a great time enjoying early Christmas in New York. As many times as I've been to New York I've never been during Christmas holidays. I would love to see New York City at Christmas time. I'm glad you passed all the necessary exams for your exchange surgery.

Welcome Mickey!
TT: WTH! Your last doctor actually said that to you? That's horrible! I'm sure you will be quizzing your new doctor right before your exchange to make sure he has the correct one. Have fun in NYC!
Karen: Happy Hanukkah! This has been a sad year for you with so many family and friend losses. Please know that I am thinking of you (((HUG)))
Hi Everyone! I've been walking/running, decorating the house inside and out (although no tree yet) then 2 days ago I started feeling bad. Been resting and watching Hallmark Christmas movies.
Before I started feeling bad I painted a red truck globe for my dd to hang on her front door. I don't know if the red truck design is popular everywhere or only in certain areas. It's very popular here. I left the bottom blank so she can do what she wants with it (she has a Cricut that cuts out exact lettering/designs).

wonderland- you are an incredible artist. I remember your beautiful pumpkin designs. I have a pillow with a red truck on it. So it must be fashionable. LOL
My little red truck.

Love both of those trucks!

took me 6 minutes to drive thru the village to get to the y. Usually it takes 10. They do a big holiday event, with all the shops open, music etc. 4 to 8 pm on a tuesday, so no matter where you turned traffic was backed up. Did 30 min on treadmill. I'm wiped out today.

Do you mean 60 minutes?

Temperature 66 degrees this morning. It is going to be a beautiful sunny day. I cancelled my run last night. My head wasnt in it. I walked a mile this morning. I have been mentoring a woman with IBS. Her cancer did not benefit from chemo. She had a mastectomy a few days ago and they were able to remove most of the cancer. Unfortunately she is unable to tolerate treatment. Her oncologist is recommending hospice to keep her comfortable. She isn't in any distress now. Currently her family isn't accepting hospice. She is completely unaware of her current status. I have visited her a couple times in the hospital. She is a lovely woman. I speak to her granddaughter daily. I feel my role is to be a listener. It's very difficult. I have a follow-up appointment with my ophthalmologist this morning and then to work.

yes ruth. 60 minutes!
I'm packing up my workout bag. Adult-ish daughter moved back home, and her illnesses have me stressed. Planning on a LONG workout after work.
I was psyched yesterday I could do 12 pound bicep curls. I'm going to work on the increased strengthening today.
Great day everyone!
